Now there is a real leak from the new Blacktron set and this is no bs. The Blacktron logo on the sides is done with triangle tiles that look like they float. There are three minifigures, a robot and a car included.

SO getting this. Propably twice.
Blacktron I is my favorite space theme by a country mile, and this just looks brilliant.
Plus, the original Renegade is the only Blacktron 1 set I don't yet have (completely, piecing it together slowly, only missing 2 yellow 4596 now)

Next, I'd like a remake of the Message Intercept Base, please :D. (best set ever)

Ngl I hated the original Renegade. But this one seems quite nice.
I'm not a fan of asymmetrical designs but I am happy to see the base frame being symmetrical, so I might just order extra parts and put 2 cockpits on it (Deep Freeze Defender style). Unlike the original, this one has plenty of space to do that.

Well, the Galaxy Explorer was not what I wanted but it was very sleek and elegant.

This is indeed more like something I would wish for myself, but it seems random, like there's no philosophy or direction present in the design neither in the shape nor the colors.

It has that certain "ChatGPT design me a new Blacktron Renegade" quality to it.

HP_Brixxter, Combat_Armor_Dougram and others have made sets that look like something Lego should've come up with.
It seems this is an 18+ set that looks like a 5-12 set. I'm not the kind to play with my Lego, and design-wise it's not good enough to put on display. Sure, a lot of sets from that era might not be either, but they were better for play, and even if I displayed them, there'd be a big nostalgia factor present that the new set doesn't have.

I don't know anymore you guys. I guess Lego has got it so good they just churn out products without much thought or effort and everyone buys them anyway.

I love the look of this set and think the asymmetry is the best part about it. I've seen the word "industrial" thrown around and I think it's a great descriptor, I love the function over form vibe the faction has while still looking 80s edgy. There are too many symmetrical vehicles already so it's nice to see something a bit different. One of the best things about Lego is if you want something done a bit differently then you can do that!

Exactly! The designer really amplified the elements that made the OG Renegade unique, rather than fighting against them to make a sleek fighter craft. I am looking forward to seeing how the ship looks next to the Galaxy Explorer, since I think that the brutalist, industrial, aesthetic will contrast very nicely with the sleek, sexy, lines of the GE!

As an aside, my headcanon for this version of the Renegade is that it is a stolen M:Tron dropship/transport design, which Blacktron stripped down to the bare bones for increased speed, firepower, manoeuvrability, and a lower sensor profile. The original M:Tron version of the ship would have had two cockpits, a covered cargo hold, and larger wings that extend into the cockpits (the little winglets on the cockpit are the remnants of where the main wings would have connected); Blacktron stripped off as much hull plating as they could without compromising structural integrity (leaving the power cells exposed!), ditched the second cockpit in favour of an enhanced sensor array, and added weapons and little recon drones to the wings. I can even see there having been a small living space between the pylons (behind the cockpit attachments), or at least the option to add something there, that Blacktron either could not retain with the modifications that they had made to the ship, or chose to exclude to make the whole thing lighter, faster, and meaner!

I was never a fan of Blacktron 1, but that's a pretty cool looking set. I actually think it does a better job of maintaining the color scheme better than the originals.

This is a cool head canon! Now it's mine, too.
