Inertia Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Well, here's the Stardefender 200, the Futuron heavy fighter craft, well, that's what it looks like anyway. Also note the ships appearances in 'LEGO Space- The Comic', piloted by Lance and Vance Gemini (Kudos to KDog for the wonderful comic!) Here we have the overall View of the Futuron Heavy-hitter. Love the details on the guns, with the pipes and all, also the dishes at the front look very menacing. Here we have the Crew, (In KDog's Space Comic, Lance and Vance Gemini), this ship also features a nifty rover, fitting in the back of the vessel. The two side pods deattach and can create another ship, although I do not know the purpose of it... Sleeping chambers for the crew mayhaps, or most likely storage. Here they are linked together, this could be used as a base or outpost of some sort. The pod opens on both sides, via the window and the back. These pods also feature Trans-Red Rocket endings! beautiful pieces. Trans-red Rocket endings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ship without the pods, looking quite sleek, this is the only set in the futuron theme to boast numbers on a trans-blue window. (Correct me if I'm wrong...) The tiny, yet functional Rover. Finally, the crew inside, except one guy has to eat helmet most of the trip... I love this set! I give it a five out of five, This is one of the best Futuron sets, with some awesome module-bility? Anyway Next up, (I know I said Saucer scout... buuuut.... I got the Robo Guardian...) The Spyrius Robo Guardian! Quote
KDog Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks for the plus, Inertia! :-D Great review, as you've well summed up both the features and drawbacks of what is a beautiful, sleek ship. I believe that "200" canopy is unique to this set. Quote
Siegfried Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 What a beautiful ship. This is one of the ships that clearly has weapons... but I bet LEGO would deny it! Thanks for the great review. (I was trying to buy this on eBay last month... but I was outbid. ) Quote
WhiteFang Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Inertia, this is a very nice classic space review from 1987. I used to admire this nice spacecraft, looking at the catalogue when I was a kid. I have no complains on this set. Certainly one of the nice-looking spacecraft in the Futuron theme. Furthermore, it comes with 2 yellow astronaunts and a mini-buggy/rover to explore unknown terrains. Thanks for sharing with us this review. Meanwhile, I will hope to see you around too. Quote

The Stardefender is one of teh best Futuron ships, although I'm being contested by the cuteness of teh Auxilary patroller Cool, I wonder what made the designers put the 200 there? What a beautiful ship. This is one of the ships that clearly has weapons... but I bet LEGO would deny it! Thanks for the great review.(I was trying to buy this on eBay last month... but I was outbid. ) LEGO would say that it has 'Ultra Sensory equipment' or something along those lines, the only thing this ship is missing is missiles.... Again, No problem! (I also was bidding on a Solar Snooper and got outbid, it had the box too ) Inertia, this is a very nice classic space review from 1987. Ah yes, catalogue reading, I was doing that the other day with old catalogues With the yellow astronauts, I'm sorta getting a bit annoyed, all teh Futuron sets I buy have them! I have like 7 yellows to 2 Blacks, it's crazy! No problem Whitefang! Quote
snefroe Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 the '200 is one of the most brilliant designs Lego ever produced for a spaceship. we'll just ignore all the things modern space freaks are very sensitive about, like the huge holes in the cockpit... the bad thing about this design is the back side. the ship hardly has anything we call engines.... a shame... the pods on the side are also fairly primitive, because they're made of classic bricks... they also make the ship quite heavy and there's hardly any room inside of them but those are just minor flaws... i bought this in the shop in 2001 for less than 25 euro; Being the moron that I am, i opened the box instead of buying a second hand one on BL Quote

The pods are pretty good for weighing out the ship, after all, you do need to have a means of escape... Don't worry about the box, all of my sets are unboxed... Quote

Inertia Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 "don't worry about the box"? are you insane? Maybe I should have kept a few of them... No, wait I do have the Impulse set boxes... Do they count? Insanity is in the eye of the beholder Quote
KDog Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I recently purchased an old Blacktron II Alpha Centauri Outpost that was still in its original box. But I wanted to build the set and space is tight around here, so I chucked the box in the bin. No regrets. :-) Quote
