Honestly my theory, given how many times it’s mentioned by Ras, (not really spoilers) the source dragon of strength seems a likely candidate. An evil source dragon would be so cool.

yes, i was thinking that too, but seeing as the unknown source dragon didnt appear in lloyds vision is episode 10, i think he could be ras master, perhaps he wants all the other source dragon's power?

A new Cinder minifigure leaked.

I'm a big fan of his new design overall, I'll even say that I like this version so much more then the first. The new armor piece mould looks great, I'm not sure if this will be the final version, but even with only one color it would still be fine. The ghost tail piece is a nice touch, but it would have been better if it was gray. The torso matches the descriptions for the wolf clan, and the leaked Lord Ras. I also expect that this torso would be reused on Jordana.

Recent images make it look like the arms are transparent  (You can see the ends of the hands through the plastic) and given the wispy designs on the chest,  I think this design is just for Cinder. The initial images didn't look very good, but newer and better ones are convincing me more and more. I like the use of the ghost tail to replicate his powers, and the armor peice looks good too, even if the show's design raised our expectations. I do wonder if the set will include an alternate pair of legs to use with the figure, though I would expect them to be unprinted. Can't wait to see more!

So better late than never, S2 thoughts

Spoiler

Ep1 - pretty good, not as strong as s1 ep1 but that (and ep2) are my favourite pieces of ninjago media ever. I still loved it though. Really liking the big Riyu design. I also really like the concept of intelligent George, gives some life to the civilian side of things. Cinders introduction is really well done, he's got some great lines and the first fight is awesome, absolutely obliterating the ninja. Lloyds visions are also very good, and the music is awesome.

Ep2 - also a strong episode. Cinders fight with Euphrasia at the start is quick but good, and the music is also very good, one of my favourite tracks. First half of the episode is somewhat boring I felt, just talking to a shifty merlopian and tracking down leads through the power of plot convenience, but the cloud kingdom fight is fun, and the animation, music and angles are all top notch, finale standard and its just episode 2. Cool to see a fight that the ninja dont win.

Ep3 - This is a good one, loved the climber suit introduction and the climbing hooks actually have a good reason to be introduced, Lloyds vision is very cool and gives us some names of the source dragons (life, energy, motion and strength). The climber mech is also introduced, and I liked the vertical fight, although I do think Sora is a little overpowered just making mechs like that out of nowhere now. The phantasm caves have a great name and an even better concept, similar to the ice caves in the FSM tomb back in season 5. Jay is cool, his voice is deeper and it's a good bit of foreshadowing. Also cool to see Egalt revealed at the end.

Ep4 - Finders are back, comedy is great, I still love bonzle and her dry humour. The fight with Egalt is amazing, he is one of my favourite characters to come out of this season. I dont know what his element is, I was going to suggest speed but hes not exactly aerodynamic with all the fur. Maybe Motion, if source dragons and regular dragons can share the same element. Weird how the ninja can just toss boulders like basketballs. Rontu is also pretty cool, ive warmed up on the voice a bit, but I doubt we will get her as a set anytime soon. Im also glad to see Cole keeps his rock form, still hoping we get it as a set one day as well.

Ep5 - Probably my favourite of the season, either that or ep7, I love the training scene. Bonzle being a spell that unlocks the forbidden 5 is one of the craziest plot twists this show has thrown and I love that. Really love the focus on the mental health side of things this season, it feels much more mature but in a way still suited for kids. Cole and Geo are also a great duo. Bonzles story is very well done, the animation especially, and the Wu scene is how I think Wu should be handled from now on, just through flashbacks fleshing out his character. The story about a brother taking a different path hits particularly close to home. Egalts teachings also continue, and it's nice watching the ninja train again. I desperately want to get the set now, and am just waiting for a sale. Arins story is also becoming more interesting, im happy to see him having some focus now. And the end is great, really pushing the darker tone of the season ("Select 5 cloud monks for sacrifice"). Ras's communication method with his master is also very interesting, I wonder if he has to avoid low ceilings...

Ep6 - One of the less interesting episodes of the season, but still fun. Ninja training is still my favourite part of the season so far, and im happy to see more. Wyldfire and Egalts interactions are amazing. Dorama plot line is meh to me, I enjoy the character but he needs a serious master to balance him out. I like the themed drones though. Cole and Zane are also a great combo. And I love more Jiro content, glad to see hes not sidelined from the show, although it does make me wonder what Heatwave is upto if Wyldfire stowed away.

Ep 7 - Also half and half, not really a fan of the scorceress as her voice doesnt really fit, but I like the character as a concept. Again, Wyldfire and Egalt are an awesome duo, and I like the Rontu and Lloyd interaction. Dragons rising really did a great job making the dragons characters. Lloyds visions are cool. The administration showing up again is also cool to see, with their Lloyd and Arin themed mechs. Clamping and impounding Jiro is one of the funniest gags of the season IMO. Kai is also amazing in this season, and this episode really pushes that. The whole countershot scene is amazing, cool flashbacks and the music is amazing, the rising dragon theme is a top 3 soundtrack. I just wish the climber suits came in more sets now. Egalts final speech is a great character moment too, and I was so upset when they got turned to stone. It's interesting how Zane is classified as equipment by the administration but theres also several nindroid agents too.

Ep 8 - Lloyds visions are again, awesome, and I liked the mech fight in the lands of mysterium. Zane gets his seasonal fake out death, and theres also the seasonal bounty crash (it must be a running gag at this point in the writers room). I do hope thats the last we see of this bounty design though, as much as I love it I need the shelf space in my room and the parts. Happy to see the climbing mech back again, thats great. It is amazing in the show. Glad to see Riyu also getting a bit of a character arc with learning to fly.

Ep 9 - Cool to see the characters split up, and I like the buggy introduction, it looks very very cool in the show, just a shame it's so overpriced as a set. Hopefully it goes on sale soon enough. Jordana is a menace, but I like the rivalry between her and Cinder. Bonzle and Arin is also a fun pair up, along with Sora and Wyldfire. The music again is top notch. Ras's fight with Arin is the best part of the episode, its now my theory that the reason Ras lost last season was he let Arin and Sora beat him, keeping him in imperium and away from the fights so he can swoop in and get the source dragon energy. He absolutely bodies Arin, but also leaves him and takes Bonzle. His flashbacks are also nice. Not often do we see a villain so motivated. I also want to explain my theory of the evil source dragon, I think considering how many times Ras refers to strength, its obvious that its probably the source dragon of strength working against the rest of the source dragons right?

Ep 10 - Absolutely insane, loved every bit of it. The cloud kingdom stuff was alright, and the masks having an effect on the ninja sneaking in was interesting to see. I am still slightly concerned they are never going to explain how Ras just manages to get hundreds of warriors and masks for them. The whole fight scene was absolutely incredible, given this is just half way through the whole season. Shatterspin is also amazing, although it feels kinda redundant with forbidden spinjitzu. Kai is great, his fight with Cinder is one of my favourite parts of the episode, and I hope we do get an explanation on what happened to Ash. Kai getting sent to the nether space is an interesting development, and the member of the Forbidden 5 brought back, Nokt, is alright. Not very interesting but he only had about a few minutes of screen time. The nether space is a weird dimension/world/thing too, and im happy Bonzle is not gone forever. Same with Egalt. Those 3 really are the stand outs this season. speaking of which, so glad the dragons are not permanently turned to stone. I hope they reappear later. Arins 'win' is definitely going to cause some fight with Sora though. The temple disappearing (along with all the bad guys) helps my evil source dragon theory. Whoever it is has a lot of power. And I like that Ras still has control. I hope the 5 turn out to be a lot like the OG ninja team, that could be an interesting dynamic. And the loss of Kai and Bonzle is an interesting note to end off on.

Overall, 8.5-9 out of 10, obviously we will have to wait till the next part comes out but compared to the first 10 eps of dragons rising, this is such a step up and improvement. Loved all of it, even the boring bits! Thank you to anyone who finished reading all this!

I thought we'd get that shoulder armour piece! I agree that it's a shame it's monotone, though that might make it easier to reuse in other contexts.

I didn't see that at first. That makes me like the new Cinder even more. Now the generals would have more personality to themselves, since that was my biggest problem with the first versions of the two generals.

June.

Thanks that's was a detail I was missing.

Zane's motorbike:$11 - 84 parts - Ice Motorbike build with 2 figs: Tournament Zane and  red and purple wolf mask warrior - June

Tournament arena: $50 - 659 parts - arena build with statue and multiple platforms, 6 figs: Tournament Kai, Tournament Sora, Cinder, red and purple wolf mask warrior, Evil Jay and Tox ( might not be Tox) - June

Ninja combo vehicles: $90 - 576 parts - a motorcycle for Cole, another motorcycle but this time for Nya, a car for Lloyd and a glider for Sora, these can all combine in to an ultrasonic raider type vehicle combination, also has 6 figures: Cole, Nya, Lloyd, Sora, a wolf mask warrior and a wolf mask general ( who I assume is a named character but we don't know anymore than general yet). - June

Cole's Titan mech: $100 - 1055 parts - a very large mech that has wings and a sword made for the Dune set's wing part, comes with multiple figures with only known one being an exclusive Cole variant - June

Motion source dragon : $150 - 1716 - an incredibly large dragon, perhaps the largest Lego dragon ever in a set with a throne and gong side build that can be put on it's back, has moulded spirit dragons for each of the other 6 source dragons. Comes with 6 figures(again): Arin, Kai, Wyldfire, Lord Ras, Jordana and a wolf mask warrior. - June

Tournament training grounds - polybag

Tournament temple city: $250 - 3489 parts - I couldn't find any more details on this set.

I'd presume the sets with unknown figs include a wolf mask warrior as they seem to be in every set.

Additional info for tournament temple city, from brick clicker - "the build is a dark blue temple with a smaller bridge either side. There is a small bridge and dragon included. Around 14 minifies including Wu, Lloyd, Wyldfire, Cole, Zane, Arin, Nya and 5 civilians"

Still unconfirmed if the build is the same shown in the sticker inside the dragon stone shrine, but I would call it likely.

Worst PPP ever :pir-bawling:

Funny typo aside though thanks for the list, I'd forgotten that this wave does seem pretty interesting. I'm still not too hot on the lack of more affordable sets though. I get that they already have a ton on shelves from earlier this year, but it sucks that they're all for the first wave because it means getting a decent amount of the new generic baddies is going to be pretty expensive.

Ah thanks, though I'm surprised the tournament temple doesn't have any villains. In the show it was the villains who hosted the previous tournament and from Ras is saying I reckon it'll be the villains setting it up again.

I wonder if Rontu will be the included dragon or if she'll get her own set in a future wave.

I also wonder if it'll be semi- compatible with the Ninjago city sets, I mean it seems to be it's own thing but it could be on water baseplates with connection points in the right spots.

Whoops, I edit that ...

But yeah I'm glad the wave isn't just Ninja vehicles because that gets old fast and they're usually not too wave specific which makes them even more repetitive.

Imo buildings > Dragons and other creatures > drills, boats and mechs > other vehicles... And unrelated but Villian sets > Ninja sets.

New renders of Lloyd and Arin have leaked, they have a new armour piece similar to skybound armour (can’t hold 4 swords) but I like the look of it. Still waiting for generic armour with a stud on the back though to hold their signature weapons. Movie face for Lloyd I think, shame that that’s back, and also no arm printing. Arins suit looks cool but a bit messy with the orange and bright orange combo. He has his grapple which is cool. Most interesting part is (hopefully) new katanas that are shorter, which should look a bit better when held by a minifig.

Posted

The new Arin looks great overall, I especially like the pockets on his torso. The dark blue mask feels really out of place, since he doesn't really have that color on his suit. If he had a bit of that color on it, it would look a lot better.

So with that only Kai and Nya didn't have their suits reveald early.

Posted

In the other render didn't Lloyd have gold arms with printing at the elbow? Here it's just yellow arms.

Also I know it's supposedly just armour but I hope Sora keeps the printed gold arm that I and many other assumed was a prosthetic.

Posted

I've just noticed that the minifigure renders that we got before perfectly align with the sets as their side box art:

Zane with the Zane's ice bike / Sora with the Arena / Lloyd with the combo vehicle / Cole with Cole's titan dragon mech / Ras with The source dragon of motion.

And with that I also had a theory that the exclusive Cole minifigure from the mech is actually just a regular tournament Cole. That is because with the priliminary images the minifgures usually have just plain white torsos and legs, while the accesories(like half masks for example) use the regular color. The Cole minifigure is said to be mostly white with some orange parts on him, so that could only be the orange half mask, which is featured on the regular Cole.

finally a magazine that I'm interested in getting, the last one I got was the Imperium Claw Hunter.

I expect that we are getting one of the generals next, I feel as if Jordana is more likely, but I'd personally rather have Cinder.

Now last year the Summer wave minifigures started in July, but I think that this year it should be different, since the crystalised minifigures were for quite a long time because of the 2nd Core wave. So I expect that it would be a bit later.

Now my next minifigure prediction is Climber Cole, since it was a while since we had him, and I do love all the massive hammer builds that he gets in the magazines.

I also expect that the new wyldfyre would be included, since she is one of the new ninja, and we got both Arin and Sora already, also I think that her March suit would also be included in the summer sets, since it didn't apper in the show yet. So she is really likely.

Climber Cole would be good as would climber Jay.

Cinder feels unlikely to me considering he's gonna be in the next Legacy dual pack .

Regular and legacy magazines can have the same minifigures. Two years ago on May there was Core Jay in the normal magazine, and then he was also in the legacy one on July. So I feel as if Cinder could still happen, but either way I still think that Jordana is more likely.
