mantax Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Next Ninjago Magazine includes Climber Cole. That's a really great inclusion, but either way any other climber suit would have been just as great. So with that there isn't any specific Climber ninja that I'd want to be next, I only want it to be a climber ninja and not anything else. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 That's a massive W in my books, I have the shadow dojo so him and Jay are the only Climber suits I'm missing. Quote

TheRealFOX Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 being new in the Forum, i won't read the 32 pages, sorry ... So, maybe what i will tell has already been told : Ninjago sets are probably the ones i own the most in my collection : i'm not in SW, HP, or whatever license (my wallet thanks me for that ^^) ; and all sets i bought -and i buy- are for MOCs. And Ninjago are full of good parts. So, first, i'm amazed by the durability of that theme ! a non-license theme, created by lego, who still goes on after 13 years, that's amazing ! And, second think i had in mind : imagine, the kids who got their Ninjago sets, at 10 y.o ; they now have grown, are maybe in dark age and may sell their lego sets ... and in 10 or 20 years, when their dark age will stop, they will look at some ninjago sets as a "child remembering treasures", as we do with Classic space and old Castle ! i mean, for 40-50 y.o AFOL, Ninjago is cool (or not, if you don't like that theme), but we don't have (and won't never have) the same feelings about those sets, than the kids who played with those Ninja :) ! I didn’t have any fully dark ages, but I’ve gone through periods where I could spend more or less. I think LEGO has started to realize that this audience exists too, what with the increasing size and complexity of models they’re producing (beyond of the already-popular-with-older-fans Ninjago City sets). On that note, is it too early to start speculating about next year? We might be due for a Ninjago City expansion. I’m personally hoping for another titan mech (Kai or Nya?) and a dragon to at least rival the majesty of this year’s source dragon. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a large earth dragon. Actually, I suppose we’ve never really have had one. Alternatively, I could see a large dragon for one of the new ninja, or maybe it’ll already be time to cycle back to Lloyd or Nya. What else is everyone looking forward to? Quote

Do not wanna see this on the front page of Instagram tomorrow Summer wave - Small villain set like Lloyds journey from 2019 Ninja hideout £20/$30 fresh new medium size vehicle around £35/$40 something completely new for maybe £50/$60 Smallish Titan mech, maybe same scale as Jays Titan mech for Nya (considering we got 2 Kai mechs this year) for £70/$50 New mobile base OR destiny’s bounty (I believe we are due for another set, every few years and in the show it’s been destroyed. That’s not even a spoiler at this point, its a prophecy). At £100/$110. Honestly wouldn’t mind seeing a smaller destiny’s bounty in the winter wave though, could be cool, and then we leave this slot for a new mobile base or structure. source dragon of strength - £130/$150. I feel like it would be interesting if every year now we got the 7 source dragons, given their importance in the show and given the predicted run of the entire storyline of dragons rising this would somewhat line up. Big Earth dragon. finally, I want to see a small Ninjago city expansion. Enough of these massive sets that can’t even fit on my shelf. I’ve built 5 custom modules that are 16x32 and they work perfectly, so it’s definitely possible. It would also be a great opportunity for those with less budget (considering the way prices are going) to have a smaller way into the ninjago city sets. Price around £130/$150 so it’s a toss up between the big dragon or the big structure. Edited June 19, 2024 by a guy from somewhere Quote

Big Earth dragon. I like all of your ideas, and I would love to get all seven source dragons eventually. I doubt LEGO would be willing to use the largest set of every summer wave as a source dragon for seven years though. We might have to settle for a variety of sizes of dragons, similar to how the Titan mechs make up a wide range of price points and sizes. I’m not opposed to a variety, but it would be a shame to have, say, a $50 source dragon that is completely overshadowed by ones the size of the Source Dragon of Motion. Is DR really expected to run for 7 years? I feel like, even assuming Ninjago in general gets renewed that long, 7 years is a long time to keep this plot line going! Quote

From what I remember, DR is slated to be a multi-year story that is completely mapped out, instead of the previous "here's some ideas we just need to link them up" type we had for seasons 11-15. I'll admit im being generous with 7 years (especially considering we are already 2 years in) but its personally something I would love to see set wise, where we as consumers know that we will be getting a source dragon every year for a while, a bit like the ninjago seasons. I just think that would be cool. I do however see the problem of them being either all the same or wildly different which could overshadow some. Still, going small isn't always a bad thing. Quote

I'm most interested to see the Villains builds ( which unfortunately we have been getting less of recently) I'm guessing we'll have the Forbidden five as the villains. It'd be nice if they each had something. A huge meaning beast would be cool ( perhaps an evil source dragon though a non-dragon would be more different and could be cool). Location sets are always my preference too as Ninja vehicles can get samey ( so I hope we see more for the new team members as that'd be more interesting than more for the core 6 ) On 6/19/2024 at 4:20 AM, TheRealFOX said: On 6/19/2024 at 4:20 AM, TheRealFOX said: Maybe it's not the topic here, but were you in Chima sets too ? i really think that theme had very good sets, beast shaped, and the minifig were very beautiful ; i would have liked one or two more seasons (but i guess the story was done, and Ninjago was such successfully, that TLC didn't needed two action themes in the same time ^^) I'm afraid I never really got into it, the only Chima sets I have are some polybags that came with newspapers and a few speedorz that were on special offer. At first I did have a did of a childish prejudice against it because it (kinda) replaced Ninjago, I did get over that and there were some cool sets but it was never a high enough priority for me to buy with my then extremely limited budget. Honestly, I would really love for the next big Titan Mech to be for Arin. Nya’s Samurai X Mech is functionally a Titan in every way except colour scheme, and Kai’s Climber Mech is recent enough that I really can’t get excited about another big Kai mech. But imagine something in that mix of yellowish orange and white, with dark blue or dark green highlights. It could be so gorgeous. Especially since Arin’s whole thing is ‘Object Spinjitzu’; imagine if his big hero moment in Season 3 is making a mech do Spinjitzu. Agent Kallus Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 If I was choosing the sets next year I think I'd give a potential titan mech to Sora. In terms of story it definitely suits her and she has a bit of a unique style that would set her mech apart from the ones done previously. As for Dragons I'd like a green one. Rontu will hopefully be made eventually too. But what I'd really want are more Villian sets, I know Lego has sales figures to back up hero sets selling better but the heroes are the same every wave, the villains are where we get variety. I'd guess the villains will be the forbidden five. It would also be nice for the next ninjago city set ( though no rush on that I haven't bought the last one yet) was crossroads inspired with it's diverse array of inhabitants and architecture. Where in a city set or elsewhere I'd like to see some of the new non-human characters in actual Lego : Mister Frohickey, Chef Grab-bag, Lobbo, Geo, Aarakore, Bonzle, Spitz, the green merlopian that I forget the name of, and yes a human but the sorceress Gandalaria. mantax Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 The next Magazine will include Lord Ras. I have zero interest in this, and I would have prefered any of the climber suits. But I have to say that for anyone that doesn't have that Ras this should be great. So with that the chances for another climber ninja are bare minimum, and I expect them to move to the summer wave after this. There is still a small chance, but a lot of the set waves only had 3 of the ninja in the magazines(the island, s12, s13). With that the only Minifigures from the summer wave that I would really want are Evil Jay and Sora. That is because of the fact that there isn't a full suit line up this time, and even with getting all of the ninja that still won't feel complete. But I want to have every single version of the new ninja(and I already have Arin from the Source Dragon), and that evil Jay is just really great to have. Still with that if any of the Tournament ninja would show up in that I'd still get them, because I still really love these suits. Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 I decided I couldn’t wait any longer and grabbed the Titan Dragon Mech. Honestly, it’s kinda overbuilt? Like, the posability is amazing, but were the sliding bolts on the knees really necessary? Also, holy crap that sword is massive. This mech is gorgeous but the sword still feels disproportionately big. Out of curiosity, I grabbed the large sword from Jay’s Titan Mech (and they’re using the same style of hand so that was easy enough) and, after modifying it just a bit so that the thumb won’t clash with the giant shuriken crossguard, I actually think it looks better. Both more proportionate and more matchy. Also, now that it’s in hand I really have to question the colour scheme choice. The way the central body and shoulders are black, it transitions to grey and rocky on the upper arms and legs, and then suddenly it’s white on the forearms and lower legs? It looks fine in pictures against a white background but in person I really don’t think I like it. Overall, I . . It’s not my favourite. It’s a great starting point for a MOD, it’s definitely in the top three best Ninjago mechs of all time, and I am hugely looking forward to whatever comes next, but . . it pains me a lot to feel like I can’t rate it above 7/10, and even that’s generous. Also at this price they absolutely could have thrown in some villain minifigures. It’s not that much bigger than the previous Titan Mechs (except Jay’s, runt of the litter). Come on. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) Count me in as someone who got into the theme since the start as a kid / teenager! It's been great to see Ninjago be a truly evergreen property for Lego, it's like a 'comfort' theme for me and I think it's time to binge watch the earlier seasons again. I've been dipping in and out since 2020 as I feel the Master of the Mountain sets were some of the best this theme has ever had and what we got after that hasn't lived up to that, but still bought the occasional set here and there since then. This year's been the first time I've really jumped back into Ninjago as the sets have honestly been great across the board; nabbed the Dragon Stone Shrine, Kai's Climber Mech, Cole's Titan Dragon Mech, and the Tournament Arena Battle. I really wanted to like the Tournament Temple City as I've been wanting for a big display piece ever since selling Ninjago City / Docks / Gardens, but I think I'll keep waiting for the inevitable Ninjago City expansion.@Fenghuang0296 I haven't built the Titan Dragon Mech set yet but from an aesthetic point of view, I definitely agree with a lot of your points. Going by reviews the set excels when it comes to scale and articulation, but looks-wise it definitely is a little lacking. I do hope future mechs that seek to top this one can combine the strengths of this mech and achieve a visually striking appearance like Jay's Titan Mech does. Forrest dragon sounds cool though, and a jet for Ras? I have to see this. Zanes combiner mech I can see having the same function as the Mei mech from monkie kid this year, where it’s a mid size Titan mech with a ton of attachments. Strange how we got another zane Titan mech before Arin or Sora. Draconian storm village for $40 sounds the weirdest, I’m expecting one building/facade and a sidebuild, or something similar to the keepers village island set. Come to think of it, that seems very very similar. Quote
