What characters from the last 14 years would you want to see as minifigures? I’m still waiting on Fugidove Doctor Julian, Frohicky, Lobbo, the commissioner, the complete set of the new ninja (the crystalized ones, I think their suit designs are absolutely stellar, just going through the season now, season one is Doc Julian, Season 2 honestly no idea, season 3 also no idea, season 4 maybe snake garmadon, season 5 Fenwick, season 6 commissioner, season 7 Jays mother (elemental master of lightning), Season 8 the whole crew of the SOG that broke into Borgs tower in the opening sequence of the season, Season 9 Faith, Season 10 an Oni for the sake of having another option to get one, Season 11 maybe Kataru (Akitas brother) or maybe the ice samurai general that helps the team inside the castle. Actually Sorla would be good. Season 12, any of the civilians from terra technica city have awesome designs which I’m sad never got into official sets, although Blazey H speeds original racer suit would be cool too. Season 13, definitely King Vangelis’ royal robes, or maybe one of the winged guards at least. S14, Gripe. Need Gripe to complete the whipper army. S15, I do wish we got either Sally or maybe minipix, or obviously the new ninja. DR season 1, has to be Geo or Frohicky. DR s2, probably the sorceress who’s name escapes me. Those are just off the top of my head. What I would do for a Ninjago CMF… Quote

I'd also love to see Cole's parents, Skales' family, a proper Soto (and his crew!), the Commissioner, a proper Dr. Saunders, Fugidove and for fun throw in that post apocalyptic outfit the postman wore in Rebooted. I also hope Dr. LaRow shows up again so we get her as a minifig too. Quote

I imagine designers would feel pressured to include new variants of all six original ninja and now also Arin and Sora, if not also Wyldfyre. Plus with Wu, Pixal, and Garmadon, that’s already 12 characters without really leaving the main cast. I think it would be hard to justify including someone like Sorla or Faith, who definitely had major roles in their respective seasons but ultimately have been absent for years, over someone like Jay, who every kid knows and is many’s favorite character. That’s also the reason I was thinking about bonus anniversary figs over something like a CMF. Another option would be the best modular, which would be a great place for newer minor characters like Frohicky or Geo or even the occasional throwback. All this to say, I hope Ninjago sticks around a long while and we get even more cool characters! Quote

Agreed, I also think that Ninjago modulars are the way to go, I mean look at the selection from the markets, it was amazing. Really hope Ninjago do some smaller, 16x32 modulars at some point. Easy way to get good characters, good build and also keep it moderately cheap (as far as D2C goes). A £160 half size modular would be amazing. Quote

A half-size Ninjago City modular is an interesting concept for fans to explore, but as a set it might be harder to make appealing on its own compared to a full-size one. This is an issue that affects traditional modular building sets as well—an individual half-baseplate has less "frontage" to show off its best angle compared to a typical horizontal or corner build, and a Ninjago City modular might suffer even more from that since they tend to be taller than your average modular building, making for an unappealingly tall and narrow module in isolation. Cutting down on the width also cuts down on potential floor space to incorporate access between levels (which has been a major aspect of the Ninjago City series to begin with). Quote

But for a tall and narrow module you could do say, a set that is mostly Borg tower but in a 'Ninjago City' compatible style. It could even be design to work as a standalone with the 32 stud side facing forward and as city section with the 16 stud side facing forward. It would have no bad angles. Quote

The marketing is something I haven’t considered, very good point there actually. A Borg tower set may work but the building itself doesn’t lend itself well to the current modular system, really i think it should be its own D2C, for example like tournament temple city. Borg tower 2026 for the ninjago anniversary? Also, I don’t know if this has been asked here yet but does anyone have the Titan mech Cole figure and the ice planet CMF? I feel like the Ice planet helmet would work perfectly on Cole. Quote

I don't know... 16 studs is quite narrow even if you use it for the depth of the model instead of the width. Would you be able to effectively adapt something like Borg Tower at that scale, without being able to overlap on any side? I'm a little skeptical, especially if you wanted a fully enclosed interior featuring iconic interior scenes like the Nindroid factory, elevators, helipad, and office. Beyond that I'm not totally sure Borg Tower is well-suited to the Ninjago City format in the first place (regardless of baseplate size), given their typical layered approach with new construction above older traditional buildings. Having Borg Tower on the "ground level" would clash with the buildings neighboring it, while raising it up could make the whole thing too tall. I dunno. I've thought about ways to have a Borg Tower module for Ninjago City but it's easier said than done. Anyway, on the subject of Ninjago City I feel like a good direction for the next one in the series might be basing it more on the Crossroads. There's a lot of good subjects and characters there to adapt, and the "post-Merge" city would allow for a nice mix of new and classic subject matter. They could maybe even take the "crossroads" title literally and make a module that could be expanded in three or even four directions. Quote
Lion King Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 I think 16x32 Modular building is little tricky for Ninjago City. It’s not like regular Modular. Building Collection. We have seen two 16x32 building buildings n that series, such as Pet Shop and Bookshop sets. Quote
mantax Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 The next Legacy magazine includes Mech Lloyd and an Imperium Claw general without the armor. It was just the Core magazine at one point, but now after the 3 new issues it has just became the regular current season magazine but with 2 minifigures. I only have mech Jay and Kai, so I'd get this for the Lloyd. The Claw general is fine I guess, He doesn't have the armor but that minifigure is not canon either way, so that doesn't really matter that much for me. Quote

Yea I know its chima not ninjago. I'm just hoping with the merge more chima lore is spotlighted. But that really is the big issue with a cmf that 11 of the modern 12 slots would be taken up by the main cast. No room for side characters. Quote
Lyichir Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Built Cole's Titan Dragon Mech yesterday! Definitely a new gold standard for Lego mech design. The scale and level of articulation are incredible. Love the light piping in the "eyes" as well. I hope that future "titan mechs" have outfits that complement the Cole in this set, it's a great design and it'd be great to eventually get more ninja in this style. Quote
Lyichir Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Caught up on the Ninjago and Dreamzzz shows while I built a Monkie Kid set today. Things I liked about this year's story: Spoiler I was worried that the Tournament of Sources would feel like a repeat of the Tournament of Elements, but it ended up really feeling like its own thing. Having characters get defeated foes' powers kept things incredibly fresh. The mystery aspect had me a little worried that it'd be as unsatisfying as Zane's detective arc from Prime Empire but it was much better in my opinion. Jay's "reunion" with Nya, while relatively brief for the overall story, still hit pretty hard. Kai's triumphant return at the end was also so, so good. Sora and Arin's characterization and development continues to impress. So did Jordana and Ras's, to be honest! The animation and action choreography was INCREDIBLY impressive this season, with the tournament format allowing for some amazing fights. Overall it was a very impressive season! Things I didn't like so much: Spoiler Wyldfire's crush on Roby felt incredibly forced—arguably even moreso than your typical romantic relationship in Lego themes. Roby in general was pretty grating, and having Wyldfire obsess so much over him felt like a step down for her characterization which was so strong in the first year of Dragons Rising. I kind of expected/hoped the Source Dragon of Motion to be a bigger part of the story overall, given how cool the set is! The ending left things open for them to still get a major appearance in the future, but it still felt like a slight disappointment for the epic battle shown in the set to just... not happen at all. The continued broadening of what qualifies as an "element" feels like it kind of dilutes the concept. Even during the Tournament of Elements (the first arc to broaden things beyond the classic four), elements were mostly still fairly broad concepts like Metal or Poison. As of Dragons Rising more "specific" powers like balance, reflexes, quakes, and shockwaves dilute things much further. However, I'll concede that the new powers were used to great effect overall in terms of the action scenes, especially with powers transferring between characters. Quote

He probably could, but would never use it because he’s so much more powerful. Quote
