Yperio_Bricks Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Sorry if this has been brought up already, but when and how will the 6476261: Monkie Kid 5th Anniversary Cake be released? Quote
Lion King Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Any idea why there is a 5th annivesary? The theme only came out in May 2020. I don’t think Monkey King from CMF Series 19 in 2019 counted as 1st year? Quote

Well, I suppose that makes sense. But it’s still weird that they branded the set “5th annivesary” this year instead of 2025. Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 I feel like it’s important to spread the news if anyone’s interested in the show, we have finally started seeing monkie kid official soundtracks appear on the D.A. Office on soundcloud. They’re amazing! Also are we all in agreement that Nezhas mech is just gonna be doing cartwheels inside a giant ring of fire? Quote

My understanding, which may be incorrect, is that in China (where this theme is being more heavily marketed), ages start at 1 rather than 0. I am not sure if that applies to anniversaries such as this, though. Quote

Lion King Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Hey AnonAnon and Killian, thanks for replies. I think it makes more sense when it comes to Chinese culture rather than Western one. Quote
Lion King Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 When will we see more Monkie Kid sets for summer? Quote

Probably not for a little while... summer sets are typically released around June at the earliest, and since Monkie Kid sets are Lego exclusive in most countries there's less chance of preliminary pics being leaked through other retailers. Often we don't get to see Monkie Kid sets revealed until a month before release. Quote

a guy from somewhere Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Just to tide us over, got some more info on the sets the 9 headed beast is a giant bird, with one large head, 2 smaller ones, and 6 tiny ones. It’s green cyan and orange. Wings are made of blades and cloth (like some Ninjago dragons) and it comes with a small shrine and a tiny mech for MK. Nezhas fire ring mech is gundam esq, with a large spear, fully posable limbs and giant wheels on its feet. 6 figs. Team power truck as apparently a large dump truck (seen today IRL at an event in China) that has a small skid steer sidebuild, a jet bike for Mei, a centipede monster and a rock with the collectable. 6 stud shooter mounted on the trucks side. Thanks for sharing the info! it’s little hard to image 9-headed beast bird. One big head, two small heads, 6 tiny heads…. But the color scheme sounds nice. Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 If no one else is going to talk about the new sets, then I will because I am hyped. Monkie Kid’s dump truck? Meh. Another junky vehicle. Centipede side build is cute but that’s all. The Nine-Headed Beast is exciting and looks good, I love villain builds and this is a great one. The Heavenly Pagoda is so tall, like wow. I don’t know where I would even put it in my city, but am eagerly awaiting more details about that one. But Nezha’s Fire Ring Mech might be my favourite LEGO mech ever, the details and styling is so incredibly gorgeous. I want it, I need it. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Kind of was expecting Nezha's Fire Ring Mech to have a massive Fire ring on it's back. Though what we got is ok. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Do we have a UK price for the heavenly pagoda? It if not a UK price another price so I can have a vague idea. Quote

It’s got a ton of minifigs and It’s pretty tall. I’d be pleasantly surprised if it’s cheaper. I really want to talk about these sets but I’m waiting for the main pics and prices. All I’ll say though is that there’s definitely a giant quad copter strapped to the back of that nezha mech. Edited May 2, 2024 by a guy from somewhere Quote
cosmic Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Wow, that tower looks amazing. My first impression was, that snake lady looks like the Spirit Guide or “Higher self” of Mei. She looks like Mei in the spirit realm, I should say. Not tk try and impose new age beliefs onto Chinese culture, just the impression I got when I saw her. The color scheme on that tail looks amazing and honestly she alone makes the set worth getting. Super excited to see that snake lady up close. But of course, the tower itself is gorgeous. Quote

The snake lady appears to be Nüwa, a Chinese goddess who molded humanity by hand from yellow clay. Given the symbolism in last year's season of Monkie Kid of MK himself having unclear, probably supernatural origins, I imagine she will be a quite important character in the upcoming season. Another part of her mythology is having used five colored stones to mend the sky—also potentially significant given the appearance of those stones in the new set and the damage done to the Celestial Realm in last year's season. The Nine-Headed Snake Demon is an enemy of Nüwa, a demon who brings floods and disasters. The 100-Eyed Demon is a centipede demon with a thousand golden eyes that reflect light to confuse his opponents. In Journey to the West he is an associate of the spider demons—will be interesting to see in this whether he is shown to have any relation to the Spider Queen. Also, Li Jing (another figure from the pagoda set) is a deity and Nezha's father. Appropriately, he is known as the pagoda bearer and carries a pagoda which can capture any spirit, demon, or god (presumably what the Heavenly Pagoda set represents). Thanks for the response! With better images she just looks so exquisite. I feel kind of silly with my initial impression now lol. I will say though, from a distance she really looked like Mei, though lol. That said, these new costumes for the cast are kind of tacky. it's reminiscent of the Endgame suits for Marvel, not quite a compliment hehe. Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Looking at some of the extra pictures, the five ‘collectible rocks’ of this wave . . purple comes in the Fire Ring Mech, blue and red in the Nine-Headed Beast, and green in the Truck, but all five are in the Pagoda, including the exclusive yellow one. So given you have to buy the Pagoda to get the yellow one, what’s even the point of having them in the other sets? It seems silly. It’s been a while since LEGO did a collectible gimmick like this - the only one in recent memory was those weird crystals in the last wave of Hidden Side, and that seemed really half-hearted. Besides that, I don’t think we’ve had a collectibles gimmick since the Dragon Armour in the Hunted wave of Ninjago. (I mean, I guess there was also the ‘dragon amulets’ in The Island and Seabound, but those came in literally every set, and maybe the Dragon Energy Cores? They kind of weren’t really a thing, at least not how the show presented it. Quote

Same with the old golden weapons. Quote
