rebelpilot Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Two more reviews: 71485 Z-Blob Battle Mech which looks like an excellent build but is not my thing so I was never inclined to get it. And 71486 Castle Nocturnia. This is the set I've been most looking forward to the most out of wave 3 and the whole theme to date. While I don't agree about the lack of interior being a problem I do agree that something is a bit lacking overall, so I've cooled on the set a bit. It's still something I will get, I'll probably just wait rather than rush out and get it next month. It's probably lacking a bit of detail that can be remedied, especially around the 'grassy hill', but maybe if the manticore was excluded and the extra pieces went into the castle build I'd like it more. I initially liked that they included Phil but now I see it in detail I can see how lacking it is. I understand why but it would definitely be better served as it's own set with substantially more parts allocated. Also it's surprising the stained glass nexo knight shields on Phil are stickers (rather than two printed pieces used repeatedly) and especially the Z-Blob windscreen in the mech, when so many other parts are printed. rebelpilot Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 (edited) Next review of 71484. I don't mean to keep spamming this topic with youtube reviews but Dreamzzz as a theme gets little interest from AFOLs compared to all the attention that Star Wars and Marvel get from reviewers, so options for new set information are limited. Back to the set, this wasn't one I was interested in at first but I have to say it's really well designed with a lot of nice details. I don't like the alt build but I don't think that's what people will be buying this set for. The new Cooper minifigure is wow. Lots of detail I didn't notice in the promo images like the different arms/hands and face printing. I hope he comes in more of the January 2025 sets. It's interesting that this set features Cooper and 21350 features Hooper: Edited July 14, 2024 by rebelpilot Quote
Lyichir Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 I appreciate the reviews! It's nice to get views of all of the models from many angles and with good looks at all the details. The Z-Blob mech is an amazing looking set and might be my favorite mech/creature set in the theme so far. I like that not only are there three alt-builds, but even the "base model" seems to stand on its own as a little spaceship/escape pod. The first two alt-builds are both great and distinctive. The third (the centaur mech) is a little weaker, but frankly including three alt builds in the first place is awesome, let alone one as ambitious as a four-legged mech. I also like the C-Rex model much more than the weirdly proportioned Pterosaur, but the C-Rex build is excellent and like with the Z-Blob mech I like that the "base model" functions as a decent model of its own (in this case, a scrapyard with the container, engine, and "cockpit" separate). Castle Nocturnia is still really cool but yeah, I do wish it had more going on in the interior. As it is it has a lot of interesting 3D spaces but doesn't really do a lot with them. Looking forward to Mind's review of the Midnight Raven set, which is another one I'm really looking forward to. Quote
danth Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 I'm looking at that Z Blob Mech as an amazing parts pack for Space MOCs. I love the colors. Interesting that the model with the eyes on the canopy requires putting stickers on the single canopy. I thought maybe there were two canopies, or the stickers were applied underneath the canopy on some other part. Having to remove the stickers to build a different model seems like a bummer, but personally I don't care about the model with the eyes anyway. Quote

Yes, the various models need to be seen in detail more than a single box design can display and fortunately Mind gives all of them the time and attention they deserve in his reviews. I really like that about his reviews. Quote As it is it has a lot of interesting 3D spaces but doesn't really do a lot with them. Agreed, much better said than I did. Quote Looking forward to Mind's review of the Midnight Raven set, which is another one I'm really looking forward to. I'm eagerly awaiting Zoey's Cat Motorcycle, it's a simple build but it's a Cat/Bike, it's the zaniness I've come to expect from Dreamzzz. 5 hours ago, danth said: Interesting that the model with the eyes on the canopy requires putting stickers on the single canopy. I thought maybe there were two canopies... Yes, that was my takeaway from the review and what I was trying to convey. Ultimately, it is a bit disappointing because it suggests to the builder pick one of the three builds and stick with it, which is the antithesis of what they are aiming for which is this one set can be built and rebuilt different ways. Of course Lego could have included the eyes on the windscreen, whether printed or stickered, in all three models as it really doesn't detract from any of them. But as is, two parts should have been included. Quote
VinnieCannoli Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 The Robot Dinosaur is my most "100% must have" set of 2024, not even kidding (probably next to The Great Hall of Hogwarts but i don't count it because it's the thing we've been seeing through all those lego years already, the dino in the other hand - is something super new and wild!). I even got 2 crocodile cars during a recent amazon sale just to get an insane amount of cooper-type pieces to have lots of fun redesigning or upgrading the Pteranodon build. The total disregard from the AFOL community is understandable - Dreamzzz sets are an epitome of lego for kids and wacky people that do silly stuff like robot rabbit dinosaurs from the outer space and swoosh them around and i'm happy it's protected from scalping and such I really hope that Robot Dinosaur will go on sale in 2025 so i'll get another one (imagine getting it for 40eur for example). Interesting that Cooper shares the same head piece mold with Hooper. Bricks by Mind channel was an insane help to me with my impatience to see all details of August sets. Quote
Lyichir Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 (edited) Since the Dreamzzz sets are out now and their instructions are available online, I've been browsing some of them and noticed a fun easter egg in the Castle Nocturnia set—on the page where you build the wizard Dreamling, one of the spellbooks that's pictured in the illustration is based on the "magic scroll" printed tile from the old Castle sets with Majisto. Obviously not as exciting as an easter egg like that would be if it were actually in the set itself, but I still thought it was cute. Edited August 1, 2024 by Lyichir Quote
mantax Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 The new set wave feels really great, but I'm not sure if I'd get anything. I really want to limit the amount of sets I buy a year, and with dreamzzz the sets are great, but I have no interest in the show. I've only watched the first 2 episodes of season 2, and I'm just completely not interested in watching more. The only set that I'm thinking about maybe getting is Never witch's nightmare creatures. The minifigure selection there is just amazing, and 3 different build options are fun. What is also stopping me from getting the sets are the magazines, since they are really great, and they get you all the important stuff. The newest one includes the Night Hunter, and the next one will have the new Cooper who is exclusive to the C-rex. I've only got Izzie's Narwhal hot air Balloon, and most of the magazines, and I think that this could be enough for me from this theme. Quote
Lemerbrix Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 I got the midnight raven, the nightmare creatures, and Zoey’s cat bike, all fun sets! I recently discovered that if you do the instructions in the Lego builder app, you’ll get widescreen versions of the illustrations, here’s a few examples. when one of the characters is falling asleep, the “zzz” will be animated every illustration is animated here heres a look at Astrid’s bedroom when it’s time to choose, you’ll get another animation, and then it allows you to pick! and here’s the final animation! I've been impressed with both the physical and digital instructions for Dreamzzz—the color-coded pages and full-page illustrations really give them a premium feel. Yesterday I built the first Dreamzzz set I've gotten from this wave (the Midnight Raven). Built the 2nd alt build first and noticed a minor error in the instructions—when building the cottage, it omits the step where you put the two 2x2 corner plates on the base of the cottage even though those plates do get shown attached later in the build. It's a bit of a surprising error to find, since the cottage build is the same between both models so having an error in one but not the other feels like it could've been easily avoided. But ultimately it's a very minor issue. I'll probably rebuild the set into the other alt-build too, since that one has all the features of the set nicely integrated into one build. Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 So I like my worldbuilding and city building, and I’m looking at the new outfit for Zoey and thinking . . well, it’s not a great outfit for Zoey herself, S1’s version of her was much better, but given its availability in the polybag I kinda want to get four or five, put different heads on them and use them as Night Bureau grunts. Which means I’m going to need a Night Bureau base in my city, and neither the Treehouse nor Castle Nocturnia would really fit. Hrm. Quote
Lion King Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I’m thinking about buying C-Rex, Nightmare Creatures, Zoey’s Cat Bike and that polybag. But i need to save my money so I will not buy them right away. I will buy them in a few moths. I am very excited about this wave - I have seen reviews I feel like DreamZzzz is one of the best in-house themes next to Hidden Side, Ninjago, and Monkie Kid. Quote

FinlayTheFaithful Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 That last one makes me think that those two builds being in the same set are supposed to be combined by either swapping out parts or just making one big build from the ground up Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I’m intrigued by the prospect of two Cooper sets in the same wave. Good to see him getting some spotlight. It’s also weird that he’s going back to the racer theme after ditching that for the robot motif in S2, I wonder if it’ll be the same Minifigure or a new variant? Also, “1-in-20”? Is this going to be like the Watevra Wa’nabi building box? I can’t say I’m thrilled by the idea of another Z-Blob but that does sound like it might be a good parts pack. Quote
Lion King Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Did dreamzzz minifigures Artie at BAM yet? Quote
mantax Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 The sets sound quite fun as usual for the theme. I'm not sure if I'd want to buy more sets from this theme, but if they are really great then maybe I'd consider that. There also might be an image of 71487 already out. Since the same person that posted the sets list also posted a image featuring a lot of small Z-blob vehicles. The builds include a scorpion, car, mech, drone, jet, creature on 4 legs, as well as 2 other builds from which you can only see a bit of. The set seems really small, the builds feel like polybag size builds, but there should be more stuff since there should be some extra parts to make the other builds, as well as a Mateo minifigure and a villain build or minifigure. So I see this being a $10 set, and that would make sence since this is the first set from the list. Also I think that Zero might be Zoey. Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Characters included in the BAM lineup, and how to build them (based on the image found on Reddit): - Daytime Mateo: Fifth head down, reddish brown hair in the top cluster, third torso from the left on the bottom row, first legs from the left on the top row. The legs are the only non-exclusive piece; also, his torso print is missing the backpack strap and art supplies from his show design. - Daytime Izzie: Seventh head down, dark brown hair in the top row, second torso from the left on the top row, first legs from the left on the bottom row. Only the torso is BAM-exclusive, and the legs are inaccurate to her show appearance (also, the head is a reuse, so not an exact match either). - Daytime Zoey: Sixth head down, black hair third from the left in the bottom row, first torso from the left in the bottom row, third legs from the left in the top row. Torso and hair (specifically this recolour) are BAM-exclusive; I am not sure about the legs, but they are inaccurate to her show appearance. - Daytime Mr. Oswald: First head down, light grey hair/beard in the top cluster, dark blue Classic Space torso, second legs from the left in the top row. Torso and head are the only BAM-exclusives, and the combination is somewhat inaccurate (he has a different leg design in the show, as well as a lab coat over the CS shirt). - Daytime Cooper: Third head down, second hair from the left in the bottom row, second torso from the left in the bottom row, second legs from the left in the top row. No parts are exclusive, as Cooper is the only character to have gotten a daytime variant in the sets; also, the set version has dark blue legs, but the legs here are more accurate to his show design (though not completely). - Pyjamas Nova: Fourth head down, dark red hair in the top cluster, third torso from the left in the top row, fourth legs from the left in the top row. No parts are exclusive (this Minifig has appeared in sets). - Pyjamas Jayden: Second head down, black hair first from the left in the bottom row, first torso from the left in the top row, fifth legs from the left in the top row. No parts are exclusive, as this Minifig has appeared in sets. Additional notes: Daytime Logan is missing from the lineup, and the white short legs do not correspond to any of the characters. Quote

Thanks for the write up, I had already started my own post with links and pictures before you posted. While a bit redundant, I'll post it anyway. Lego bam aka @cacacolito posted the new 3rd quarter BAM parts including the Dreamzzz characters and as a lot predicted, they are non-dreamworld variants. Image taken from reddit. The reused/exsiting parts and minifigures: Cooper Jayden Nova New real world characters: Mateo - New hair piece with printed white streaks (not green), new head with non-green vitiligo patch, new blue hoodie and pre-existing dual moulded dark grey jeans and red shoes. Izzie - Dana Barret dark brown hair, according to the above pic it's a reuse of this head, new Bunchu Bunny t-shirt and possibly plain light bright blue legs. Zoey - Braided hair now moulded in black, what appears to be the pre-exisitng Zoey head, new leather jacket torso and pre-existing sand blue jeans from several city sets. (Side note: these blue jeans from BAM from Jan 2024 would be a better fit if you can still find them) Mr Oz - Pre-existing hair/beard combo, new head with normal (non-eyepatch) glasses, dark blue classic space logo torso (no lab coat) and possibly pre-exisiting Owen Grady legs. I'm not sure on the legs, they probably should be swapped with the sand blue jeans and Zoey can have the dark blue legs. I already have Cooper, Jayden and Nova but they are very easy to get from B&P. I have several dreamworld Izzie's so I can borrow the dreamworld legs and head from there, or source from B&P, they're not entirely accurate but a better fit. Mateo and Zoey interest me the most along with the classic space dark blue torso, I doubt I'll even bother using it for a Oz minifigure as it's not show accurate but I'm grateful for Lego taking the opportunity to get another space logo torso in there. edit: Accessories - Izzie (Bunch Bunny plush), Mateo (Z-blob), Mr Oz (Flask), Zoey (pet cat), Cooper (circular saw), Jayden (teddy bear), Nova (hair brush). Some of these involve a bit of guess work. Edited August 23, 2024 by rebelpilot Quote

Zoey should have the dark blue legs (I knew they felt familiar!), while Oz should get sand blue. Additionally, the same legs can work for both Oz and Cooper, since both characters wear sand blue jeans; the piece in the BAM lineup is not fully accurate to either’s show appearance, but the overall style and colour are correct (and more accurate than Cooper’s official design, ironically!).
