I'm a huge fan of the idea of gaining new abilities in your dreams. It all started when I read and then saw "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" where kids transform into their "avatars" in dreams to fight Freddy Krueger.

Dreamzzz is basically this but "light" version, haha. So I loved the idea so much and was instantly hooked. I used to think and fantasize about this concept a lot back then.

In reality...Sets that we see in stores almost never appear in the show... (they didn't show the Crocodile car for example...) They made such a big deal of all that stuff but we don't even see it. It's like kids don't even like to use their abilities or imagination that often. This was my main problem. Like...this concept is so cool (entering your dreams where you can do anything and fight your nightmares with your new form) but they barely use it. And if they do - it's something boring.

They also don't use the whole "dreams, sleeping, insomnia" stuff (for example there could be a moment when they have to enter the dream world but too excited to sleep, or something like that - it would instantly make the episode more interesting). You may say that I'm asking too much for a kids show but Monkie Kid show is 9000 times better and "clever" with its ideas compared to this (not to mention the animation).

But anyways i'm super excited about August sets. In fact...the Crow and Junkyard Dinosaur are one of my favorite sets of 2024

this theme is amazing and i adore villain minifigs

I never like horror movie like Nightmare on Elm Street but I do agree with you on that dream abilities.

Also Dreamzzz remind me of Adventure with Sharkboy and Lavagirl movie and Kingdom Hearts video game (only dream sequences). They both hae fantastical vibes that mix with fighting methods.

I think we basically have similar views - great concept, not well executed. To be fair to the creatives working on the show, they're most likely constrained by a pretty small budget.

Getting back to the Lego sets somewhat.....

The Crocodile Car is in Season 1 Episode 15. The base model dream car is in several episodes and according to the wiki the Crocodile Car is also in the Ninjago crossover episode, which I've not seen.

Something makes me think that it's Monkie Kid's fault. (but i don't hate that - his show is amazing)

I actually watched MK show and it has tons of incredible animations, adult jokes and references. I was honestly surprised to see a Lego show with fluid 2D animation. I think they dumped the majority of animation budget into that. I have a connection to animation and i kept doing screenshots during the show - most of shots are amazing.

There is a literal JoJo reference in one episodes when everything suddenly changes the style and looks like JoJo anime. Lego never had a show with a quality like MK.

Maybe this is the reason of them lowering the quality of Dreamzzz. A lot of it looks like animators worked without fully understanding the line.

I would say it’s a bit unfair to compare the animation style of dreamzzz compared to monkie kid and even ninjago! All 3 are (mostly) made by different animation studios, ninjago has been animated by Wildbrain since season 11, and dragons rising is using unreal engine to give the visuals. Monkie kid (seasons 1-4) has been animated by flying bark productions. Lego dreamzzz (with the exception of 2 episodes in season 2) is animated by pure imagination studios. Heck, even lego friends: the next chapter is animated by a different animation studio: passion Paris. I’d say that blaming shows animation quality to other shows is like blaming fruits taste to other fruits. Of course apples taste different because of oranges, they’re different fruits! Metaphors aside, I would say dreamzzz does have lower quality animation compared to ninjago or monkie kid, but I think it manages to still be a decent show. I hardly notice quality of animation, but this time I took another look, and yeah, it’s not the best animation, but tbh I’ve seen worse.

I recently had a thought, in the show, Astrid is depicted with a white streak in her hair, could this mean she has poliosis?

If there is a white streak on her (physical) hairpiece, I am interested!

Sadly no, she uses the Ginny Weasley hair in medium nougat, there’s no printing on it. However, some promo images show a dream chaser design for Astrid, where she uses the black widow hairpiece, which can be printed on, as shown on vi moradi from the galaxy’s edge set. I’m assuming Astrid is a new main character, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this version appears in future sets.

this is the new version, really nice!

Such unfortunate for sure… I feel that Lego should introduce a hairpiece wit white streak printed on it. Thanks for sharing promo!

When I saw Astrid’s appearance in one set from Wae 3, it has me wonder if we would see her in another set. And i do think she could be a new main character as she and Logan are cute together. So we shall see! I like that new verison too! Where did you find it?

Does anyone know when we will. See the polybag?

Definitely before august, I actually have a theory that it and the Z-blob and bunchu polybag from last year will be offered as a gwp with castle nocturnia, considering that the friends mansion had two polybags, one from this year and one from last year given when you purchase the set, and the Ninjago tournament temple city has a gwp with a polybag from this year and a polybag from last year.

Just like that MonkieKid’s Delivery Bike GWP some years ago?

I’m not exactly sure what you’re talking about, I’m saying that the Zoey polybag and Z-blob and bunchu polybag could be offered as a GWP for castle nocturnia, as Lego seems to be putting a polybag from last year, and a polybag from this year into large sets free original themes like friends with Andrea’s modern mansion, and Ninjago with tournament temple city.

Oh Monkie Kid’s Delivery Bike GWPis not an example you are talkin about.  I was just trying to understand what you try to say but it’s okay. I think your rethory is pretty neat.

Tomorrow will be one month from Dreamzzz Wave 3’s release! Cant wait…

I'm very much looking forward to it! Also looking forward to reviews of the sets, which will most likely come out a little earlier than the actual set releases. In general, this wave feels extremely strong—while I so far only got two of the year one sets and two of the sets from wave one of this year, four of the sets from this current wave are on my wishlist thanks to both the wide variety of new minifigures and the incredibly strong set designs overall.

I feel like compared to a lot of themes, the multiple builds in each set also give Dreamzzz sets a lot more potential "surprises" as far as builds and features are concerned. This is partly because compared to other themes, which often show off all the features of the main model on the back of the box and alternate online pics, many of the alternate pics of the Dreamzzz sets are dedicated to covering all the different alt builds so there's much less of a "comprehensive" look at each individual model. As I am wont to do about sets I'm curious about or excited for, I've made some rough attempts to figure out the builds of at least the base models of some of the sets on Stud.io, but there's a lot less that I've been able to totally figure out on my own compared to your typical set in themes like Ninjago (which isn't to say that the challenge of doing so hasn't been a lot of fun).

fateful_lego on Instagram just posted that Dreamzzz figs will be coming to BAM later this year.

Ninjago had BAM figures last year, 3 Core characters that were not exclusive and 3 exclusives featuring exclusive torsos and heads for Arin and Sora.

If the rumour is true (I don't know how credible it is) it could be existing season 1 or 2 parts or some exclusive prints like with the above Ninjago example. If that was the case I'd guess maybe non dream world outfits but that would be less interesting to me except for maybe Logan (the Hidden Side backwards hat and hoodie). Zoey's hair piece will be recoloured eventually and they probably would just use this for Izzie. A Mr Oz lab coat could see lots of interest outside of Dreamzzz though.

Oh, that polybag is hilarious. That nightmare creature looks like it's terrified—clearly it didn't bargain for Zoey to take to the air herself!

And Dreamzzz BAM figures could be exciting. I can't help but hope for non dream world versions if only because they might be more likely to appear in something like BAM than they ever would in your typical Dreamzzz set, and the kids' real-world fashions are pretty cool designs in and of themselves.

I'm not a youtube lego review sort of person but I only recently discovered Bricks By Mind, probably because it's mainly Ninjago focused, but he also has reviewed most of the Dreamzzz first and second wave and now he's been sent the entirety of wave 3 and there is no embargo.

The reviews a lengthy and quite detailed, starting with 71483 he'll be reviewing them all over the coming days and weeks:

The season 2 Mateo and Mad-teo are more detailed than I first thought, wow. On top of the new vest, torso and super detailed legs, I'm surprised he's even got a new face print and hair printing. It's good to see Dogan and Doey, the new armour piece and Raven in detail. It's quite an impressive 3 in 1 build, I'm in agreement about the Raven build, Doom Blob is the one for me.

It’s honestly baffling that Doom-Blob is not the one on the front of the box.

Also, the new cauldron mech torso thing is indeed two half-cauldron  pieces that go together! I called it! ^^

That polybag looks pretty cool! And I an’t wait to get some sets!!

It’s pretty shameful that there is no Doom-Blob. In other sets but a larger set. :/
