[MOC] Community Wishlist MOC wave 3: Acclamator, ARC-170, Legends ship pack, and more!

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

To paraphrase one of my favorite characters, "it's been a long five years" months since I collected people's set ideas for the third wave of the wishlist MOCS. It was long enough one guy just straight up made his himself (And did a fine job of it, too!), which may be one of the funniest and greatest things that I've been involved in on this forum. (Honestly I think your MOC should have placed in the ship category @Per_SW, it was really solid.) I was working an average of 13 hours a day over the summer, and was pretty busy during these first couple months of college too. But I'm finally done, so without further adieu:

Oh, wait. If you're skipping through this, make sure to check out the Acclamator at least, I'm really proud of that one.

"GWP" 1: TIE Reaper polybag (61 pcs): Requested by @Agent Kallus

TIE%20Reaper%20polybag_2.png

Spoiler

TIE%20Reaper%20polybag.png

I thought I'd make it a little more fun by giving it a ramp and some tiny troopers.

"GWP" 2: Jedi Temple diorama (271 pcs): Requested by Agent Kallus

Jedi%20temple%20GWP.png

This one really only needed the one image. The Jedi I ended up including was Cin Drallig, as he's got an interesting role, doesn't require new molds, and wouldn't be in any set besides the temple

Microfighter 1: Havoc Marauder (109 pcs): Requested by Agent Kallus (Thanks for filling out the lower rungs here man, people tend to prefer to do the bigger spots)

BB%20shuttle%20microfighter.png

Spoiler

BB%20shuttle%20microfighter%202.png

The Marauder was pretty tough to pull off while fitting a figure at this scale, due to how that top wing works, but I think it turned out alright. Figure included is a Season 2 Tech.

Microfighter 2: Crosshair's shuttle (105 pcs): No request, done to pair with the Marauder.

CS%20shuttle%20microfighter.png

Spoiler

CS%20Shuttle%20Microfighter%202.png

A fun little build with imperial Crosshair. It's not the most complex thing but I like my engines.

Microfighter 2-Pack: Anakin and Sebulba's Podracers (214 pcs): Requested by @TeddytheSpoon

Podrace%20Microfighters%201.png

Spoiler

Podracer%20Microfighters%202.png

This was actually a really cool idea (thanks Teddy!) for a microfighter pack, I like how it turned out. Feels like the old racers themes to me. Comes with Young Anakin and Sebulba, of course.

Battle Pack 1: New Republic Battle Pack (136 pcs): Requested by no one, I just wanted to make one

NR%20battle%20pack.png

Spoiler

Half an excuse to show off my ever-evolving 74-Z design (I changed it again for an appearance later in the list) and half feeding my delusion of getting New Republic troopers anytime soon, I think it turned out fairly well.

NR%20battle%20pack%202.png

The figures would be four identical troopers (I mean, different faceprints. Maybe one would have a female torso print). Builds are the aforementioned 74-Z and a console with a small turret.

Battle Pack 2: 212th Legion Battle Pack (117 pcs): Requested by @ARC2149Nova

212th%20battle%20pack.png

Spoiler

This isn't the first battle pack I've done featuring a BARC and 4 clones, and I'm sure it won't be the last. I am unreasonably proud of how well those hero factory shields work on the sides of the front there, though.

212th%20Battle%20Pack%202.png

The 212th got cheated out of a battle pack last year, despite the multiple 501st packs we got this year (No, painting your helmet orange doesn't remove you from the 501st, Rex), so this would be pretty nice. 3 standard troopers (The arms wouldn't be dual-molded, it's just to show their affiliation since there isn't a 212th trooper torso print on stud.io) and an airborne trooper.

Duel: Count Dooku vs Yaddle (193 pcs): Requested by @ArrowBricks

TOTJ%20Hanger%20Duel%201.png

Spoiler

To be entirely honest this is by far the worst of the wave, but I just wasn't sure what to put in besides the door and basic turntables. Dooku's got that mechanical unit he slices up?

TOTJ%20Hanger%20Duel.png

*fwoosh fwoosh* *vmmm* *other assorted lightsaber sounds*

TOTJ%20Hanger%20Duel%202.png

The door "function" is the most basic -lift-it-up-and-gravity-sends-it-back-down-on-yaddle- thing, but it didn't need to be complex. Comes with Yaddle and Jedi Dooku.

V-wing Starfighter (294 pcs): Requested by TeddytheSpoon

V-wing%20starfighter%201.png

Spoiler

With the standard system sets we start getting into some designs I'm really happy with. This V-wing features wings that are actually angled and fold right, plus a take on the fuselage I'm pretty happy about.

V-wing%20starfighter%202.png

V-wing%20starfighter%203.png

Comes with a Shock Trooper, Clone Pilot, and Republic Astromech

Naboo Fighter vs Vulture Droid (504 pcs): Requested by Arrowbricks

Naboo%20Fighter%20and%20Vulture%20Droid.

Spoiler

Naboo%20Fighter%20and%20Vulture%20Droid%

The Naboo fighter isn't exactly reinventing the wheel, but I'm pretty happy with how it looks.

Naboo%20Fighter%20and%20Vulture%20Droid%

The Vulture droid, on the other hand, has a pretty significant wing mechanism the official sets have never used that allows you to actually get a decent walking mode. Also, it's been forever since our last vulture droid. We get 200,000 clone battle packs a year now, why not give the seppies some love?

Naboo%20Fighter%20and%20Vulture%20Droid%

Figs are R2, 2 battle droids, a Naboo Pilot, Young Anakin, and Battle Dress Padme as the desirable fig for collectors.

ARC-170 Starfighter (961 pcs): Requested by ARC2149Nova

ARC-170.png

Spoiler

This one took forever, but our last ARC was forever ago and another set I feel lego really dropped the ball on, even with the parts available back then. With 2023 parts, however, some serious upgrades are possible.

ARC-170_2.png

For one thing, the middle of the wings don't need to be gaps, and can actually have greebles inside like in the movies. I can't put rubber bands here, but a mechanism connected to a gear under the rear turret would move the wings using cams similarly to the 2015 X-wing.

ARC-170%203.png

Cockpits really aren't anything special. Those 1x2 DBG printed slopes with the buttons and the other one with the red screen show up in just about every starfighter I make, I think.

ARC-170%205.png

Comes with 2x clone pilot, Captain Jag, Commander Wolffe (P2), Plo Koon (with yellow lightning) and a republic astromech.

Jango's Slave One (1156 pcs): Requested by @YourLocalB2

Jango's%20Slave%20One%201.png

I want to make clear that unlike most of my builds, instead of a fully ground-up redesign, this guy shares a pretty big chunk of his internal skeleton with the 2019 slave one.

Spoiler

Jango's%20Slave%20One%202.png

Back isn't anything special, but I thought I'd show it.

Jango's%20Slave%20One%203.png

Cockpit seats Jango AND boba, though boba's seat can't rotate.

Jango's%20Slave%20One%204.png

I never like when bounty hunter ships can't fit a bounty, so there's room here for a third figure, as well as a crate.

Jango's%20Slave%20One%205.png

Comes with Obi-Wan Kenobi, 2x clone cadet (Red uniforms), Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Taun We, and Lama Su.

What you've all been waiting for, The Acclamator Assault Ship! (1850 pcs): Requested by Arrowbricks

Acclamator%201.png

Acclamator%20Cruiser%202.png

Spoiler

Man, this took FOREVER, but I'm really proud of it. It is the type of set I would have died for as a kid.

The Acclamator's a transport, right? So I made this function where the ramp kind of drops down. But then I thought, hmm, lots of space in this ramp. So I threw a speeder bike in, and now it can launch a speeder! You press the top part of the ramp up, and the bottom part lowers, with the speeder flying out of the ship. I gotta be honest with you guys, I'm REALLY happy with how that turned out.

Acclamator%20Cruiser%204.png

Alright, so on to the troop transport part itself. If the speeder's in there, we can fit 6 additional troopers.

Acclamator%20Cruiser%205.png

But if we remove the speeder, we can fit ANOTHER 6 for a total of 12 clone troopers. Now granted, the last guy has to sit down or the roof won't close on him, so you might want to just do 11.

Acclamator%20Cruiser%203.png

There's also an interior bridge/control room, which is accessed by removing the exterior's bridge. There's room for 4 officers to work on consoles with a viewport for an admiral at the front. You can also squeeze another fig by the admiral and someone at the back for 7, but it's a tight fit.

Acclamator%20Cruiser%206.png

Man, I'm... this might by my favorite I've ever done. I really want to thank Arrowbricks for suggesting this, it was a great build. Figs are Stass Allie (Ignore the hair, they don't have her headpiece in stud.io), Admiral Yularen, 2x clone officer, Commander Neyo, 2x 91st trooper, and 1x 91st scout.

Diorama 1: Duel on Mustafar (845 pcs): Requested by ARC2149Nova

Mustafar%20Diorama%201.png

Spoiler

I totally ripped off the lava pattern from a previous MOC I made from Bionicle.

Mustafar%20Diorama%202.png

"It's over, Anakin! I have the high ground!"

Mustafar%20Diorama%204.png

The back comes off to store whatever quote your not using (The set comes with the high ground quote and the "you were my brother, Anakin. I loved you." quote.), as well as pieces to pose the figs. The giant metal thing can be rotated up or down depending on how you're displaying it.

Mustafar%20Diorama%203.png

They can fight up there, if you want. I don't think Mustafar's corporate safety guys are gonna be happy about any of this, though. Set comes with- of course- Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Diorama 2: Executor Bridge (918 pcs): Requested by YourlocalB2

Executor%20Bridge%20Diorama%201.png

Spoiler

This is another one I'm pretty happy with.

Executor%20Bridge%20Diorama%203.png

Grrrrrrr

Executor%20Bridge%20Diorama%202.png

A bit figure-heavy for the dioramas, but the Trash Compactor had a good number too. Comes with Darth Vader, Dengar, IG-88, an Imperial Crewer, Admiral Piett, Boba Fett, Bossk, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss.

Other 18+ set: A subline idea I had: "Truth in Legends" (891 pcs): Ships involved requested by @Big_Daddy and @Per_SW

Spoiler

Truth%20in%20Legends.png

So the basic idea (I came up with this before the 25th anniversary leaks, don't sue me) is a collection of some famous legends characters and ships for a collector's demographic.

Truth%20in%20Legends%202.png

I'm still not entirely clear on what the TIE predator is, but it's a cool ship that was a fun challenge to adapt.

Truth%20in%20Legends%203.png

The back isn't interesting but I'll show it for completionism.

Truth%20in%20Legends%204.png

The Headhunter, on the other hand, is one of my favorite legends ships, and a pleasure to adapt to lego.

Truth%20in%20Legends%205.png

These both detach from their stands, of course.

Truth%20in%20Legends%207.png

The exclusive figs are Mara Jade, Galen Marek, and Kyle Katarn. The set also features a new republic astromech and Corran Horn in the headhunter, and Gunn Yage in the TIE predator.

Finally, a "celebration exclusive": The Mandalorian's Homestead (1049 pcs): No request, just something I thought would be cool

I had a lot more fun with this one and didn't focus as much on whether or not we'd ever see a set like it, so it's got a nuts figure count, chrome pieces on the fighter wherever legos' made the element in chrome, etc.

MandoCelebration.png

Spoiler

I even gave them faces here!

MandoCelebration%202.png

So we'll start with the N-1, a modification of my Naboo Fighter from earlier in the thread. The official one is hilariously oversized, so I thought I'd try my hand at a smaller one.

MandoCelebration%203.png

Can't forget that booster on the back

MandoCelebration%204.png

Mando chillin while his son eats some frogs

MandoCelebration%205.png

Party inside! The roof comes off, I forgot to do a render of that.

MandoCelebration%20Figs.png

Like I said, unrealistic figure count. The idea's that Mando's having a housewarming party, and all his friends are showing up. Includes: R5-D4, Fennec Shand, Daiymo Boba Fett with a gift, exclusive Chrome Mando, Grogu, Magistrate Greef Karga with a gift (it's beskar), New Republic Shock Trooper Cara Dune, Mand'alor Bo-Katan Kryze, Free Man Migs Mayfield, Marshall IG-11, and Marshall Cobb Vanth with a gift.

Thanks for looking at all my mocs and reading my ramblings. If you've got any feedback, please let me know! I love hearing what people think about these. I'll be taking a break from star wars MOCS for awhile (honestly probably from mocs in general for a bit, stud.io's been running on my computer for the past two months straight.), with my next projects being a Megatron in scale with 10302's Optimus Prime and a Spider-Man wave of sets, but I'll come back with an Ahsoka wave sometime at the end of this year/early 2024.

Babe wake up, new wishlist wave just dropped!

Phenomenal work as ever. I share your admiration for the Acclamator, it looks awesome! The scale difference with the speeder is a little jarring, but that's the smallest of nitpicks since it's a play set at the end of the day.

Big fan of your V-wing fuselage as well. See LEGO, they don't have to just be flat wedge plates!

Posted (edited)

Excellent stuff!

I think you're underselling the Dooku V Yaddle one, I does everything it need to do and it does it well.

I quite like the 1*1 stud troopers with the reaper.

The favourite here has got to be either the 'No disintegrations' diorama or the Mando homestead. I like fun aspect of the homestead, having the character's bring Din home warming presents. Like the advent calendars and the new life day set but without the out of universe outfits that 'ruin' the figs. ( I say ruin they're still fun but not as interesting to me as more canon compliant designs). It's a shame it's a celebration exclusive, but hopefully I'll be at celebration Japan ( though Jedi master tickets are somehow already sold out :( I'll have figure something out)

The legends set is a fun idea ( I know I said I liked canon compliant things better but I didn't mean that in a legends continuity V canon continuity way). Both are executed wel. I guess every ship is someone's favourite, I always thought the headhunter was a watered down X-wing, like it's lore is interesting I guess but the design isn't a favourite of mine.

The Acclamator is just stunning. The speeder coming out of it is kinda funny at first glance but I think what you've done with works.

Oddly enough I feel like I've seen the V-wing and NR battle pack somewhere else before .

But yeah all are good and all would go on my wishlist.

You put me to shame really as I do have another wishlist moc wave in the works but I'm juggling so many simultaneous projects that it might be a while before I post it.

I love this wave! I love all your work.

Congrats and thank you for your hard work and dedication.

The Acclamator is a beauty. I could totally see it on shelves. I’m so glad you agreed to do it…and I’m very sorry for all the stress it caused ;)

Lego Group hire this Mando! Your passion and commitment is second to none.

Yeah, it looks a little weird, but like you say, I try to make these playsets.

I'll throw a bone to lego here and say that while my V-wing *should* be fairly stable, the average 6-8 year old would probably wreck by grabbing the nose as hard as possible. Still no excuse for how lego completely fails to include the wing function though.

Acclamator looks great and I love that you added enough space for a speeder! I also really like your "Truth in Legends" set

Thank you!

I feel like now that lego's invested so much in 18+, we should be able to get legends stuff for adult collectors instead of focusing only on the main saga and newer spinoffs.

That's a good point. I guess it just doesn't feel like the type of thing lego would make to me, but I suppose they did sort of kill off that duel set concept entirely after only 2-3 sets.

Thanks. I thought it was a fun way to make it a bit more dynamic.

The Homestead was a lot of fun to make (totally agree about advent calendar figs, by the way).

I have no rational reason for liking the headhunter as much as I do. I totally see the "watered down x-wing" idea. But somehow I still love the design.

Thank you! I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Actually, I believe I've posted the ARC as well, just in imperial colors.

Your wishlist waves are always great to see, I'm excited for the next one you do, however long it may be.

No, man, thank you for suggesting that, it's by far the MOC I'm most proud of.

This is a bit of a tangent, but from what I remember (There was some article about it I read as a kid) being hired by lego is analogous to being kidnapped. If I remember right, they basically lock you in a hotel in Denmark, limit your access to the outside world, and have you compete in various building challengers against other potential employees over a 2-week span.

Nice job! I would recommend bulking up the Dooku vs. Yaddle set with some gears to control the turntables (and maybe a lever to raise/lower the door), and adding pre-disfigurement Sith Palpatine (Emperor reuse with The Senate head); also, Dooku would look better with the widow's peak hair.
The BARC looks good, but it needs to be swapped out for a Crab Droid! Finally, the "No disintegrations" diorama is excellent and would make a perfect set.

That's some brilliant execution of already neat ideas, especially the Legends one :innocent2:  My wallet (and my wife) would never forgive me if this would have been an actual wave.

That's a good suggestion for Dooku's hair, and all around good ideas for expanding the set. I was trying to keep it at the same rough piece count as the Starkiller Base and Mustafar duel sets, but that subline really didn't end up panning out so I probably could have expanded it.

This is some absolutely incredible work @Mandalorianknight, really nice job!

Would love to see these as real Lego sets, can’t decide on my favourite here but that Acclamator is simply something else. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

Thanks!

I'm very happy with the Acclamator's final design, and look forewards to sharing more of my work in the future!

Let me start by thanking you for the mention and compliments, I also quite like your rendition of the Predator and both this and the last Interceptor (which I built right after finishing on my project, so too late to overhaul the ball part) are giving me quite a few ideas on how to tweak and better my build, I'll have to get started on a Mk II =D

And to answer your question it is simply a lesser seen TIE variant in the MOC community from the Legends comic Legacy, and technically not even a TIE-series, as it has four engines instead of two. QIE, maybe? :D Anyway it comes from the Ostrander-Duursema team and I've always liked the idea of a "TIE" without pylons connecting the solar panels directly to the ball cockpit as the evolution of the craft went on.
Keeping with Legends
I also really enjoy your Zahn-style Z95, and as many I'd love for a Legends-tribute set such as this to exists, NGL, they'll have me at "Kyle Katarn minifig".

Following up, that Acclamator is really something to be proud of, I love how it fulfils its role of a troop carrier and the speederbike play feature, and also how it manages to have the interior details such as the bridge while looking sturdy and imposing, and it pairs well with the rest of the prequel-era lineup you have.
Some more scattered comments:
- Both N1s are gorgeous, the Mando housewarming party is a nice fun idea and the scale of that Vulture looks perfect to me, maybe not true minifig-scale but just the right size for such a playset
- I agree with the BARC-fatigue sentiment and would love a Crab Droid against the 212th, but your BARC designs have always been strong
- Nice to see some love for Tales of the Jedi with the duel and it really works in its simplicity
- Both dioramas are something that should really be official sets by now, and I'm afraid the only reason we'll never see the "No disintegrations" one on shelves is because of LEGO reticence of putting that many expensive/desirable minifigs in the same non UCS/D2C set

All in all I agree that were this to be an official wave my wallet would not be happy, keep up the good work =)

p.s. I realised I never actually commented on the last community wishlist before this one and I'll sneak some congratulations for your rendition of the V-19 from that wave also

That's a lot of praise, thank you so much!

I'll be on the lookout for the predator mk ll.

Yeah, we definitely have too many BARCs, but I'd done a crab droid as the build for a battle pack more recently than my last BARC battle pack. That said, an AT-RT would probably have been the best choice here, I don't think I've ever posted my downscaled one.

I agree about the executor diorama, it's too many figs needed for the scene. I do have some hope we'll see the mustafar diorama next year for ROTS's 20th, though, since lego seems to be anniversary-crazed with this theme now.
