Dude, tell me about it. I still remember January 2020 like it was yesterday and that was a heck of a winter wave - nice spread of TRoS sets, some OT, Mandalorian, and Duel on Mustafar.

Of course back then waves were purely January / August, but I miss it regardless. It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that August / September have consistently been full of great sets since 2021, but that comes at the cost of patience. I do have my fingers crossed for a summer set list earlier than usual this time given that we shouldn’t be getting too many tie-ins to new content outside of the Acolyte, so perhaps the lessened need for secrecy will work to our favour.

You mean before 2015? Because since then, we‘ve always had at least three waves a year

Seriously. It‘s almost comical how much cooler the 2HY sets have been compared to their 1HY counterparts since 2021

I know! IMO, this is what they should be going for:

January 1- 1HY system sets: A microfighter or two, a battle pack or two, and a number of standard sets

April 1or May 1- 3-4 "adult" sets (dioramas, helmets, etc)

May 4th- UCS 1HY

August 1- wave of a number of standard sets, larger in size/cost on average than January

Fall- UCS 2HY, advent calendar

The main thing I like about your pitch is strengthening the January waves again. The last three plus the upcoming one all had decent sets, but they were mostly mundane and nowhere near as cool as what the respective 2HY sets offered. Compare that to the excellent Jan 2020 wave, with the Sith Trooper and Mando BPs, Poe’s X-Wing, the TIE Dagger, Duel on Mustafar etc. More of that again, please!

The 2024 wave is pretty pathetic number-wise, but at least the Crimson Firehawk is a new ship with three new characters and most likely a new head piece for Nubs! That’s more than can be said for 2021-23

Looking forward to that super battle pack, been a very long time since they've decided to do that. In other news, has anyone else seen that Walmart Hoth value pack for $45? Might have to pick up one or two, because that's a sweet deal for a bp AND a walker for $45.

Is this a US only set? Is this set going to be in the U.K. at all?

I dunno, hopefully. It seems to be a Walmart Exclusive pack. As far as I know, it's only available in NA. I've only recently heard of it. My buddy picked one up and told me about it.

Of course.

I think a big part of it is the size of the wave/sets. Personally, I much prefer the revitalized, re-scaled X-wing and TIE to, say, Poe's X-wing. But with it being just a couple sets in january, usually all under $50, it's hard to get as excited as I used to be. I'd hesitate to even call it a wave of sets.

1. Here in Canada the Hoth pack is an online-only thing which is kind of weird because we have the city and friends 3 in 1 packs instore

I still think there might have been some throne room confusion. First it was Jabba's throne room that was rumoured but then eventually 75352: Emperor's Throne Room Diorama got released. So maybe the initial information/leak was just about an unspecified throne room and people jumped to conclusion that it was Jabba's? Just an theory of mine. I really was looking forward to Jabba's throne room though.

This could have been what happened, but that feels like a weird logical leap to take imo (not yours; the theoretical people you mention). Maybe I'm weird but when someone says to me 'throne room' in a Star Wars context, I definitely think of the Emperor's throne room before Jabba's. To be honest I probably think of Snoke's throne room and maybe even Amidala's throne room (does she have one? The room where she has the meeting with Sio Bibble) before Jabba's

For me it's the other way round! I would think of Jabba's throne room first and completely forget about the others

Yeah I'm pretty sure. Glad they are bringing these kinds of combo packs back though. I had always heard and seen images online of the city combo/value packs from the 2000s/2010s on brickset, but had never seen them in person. I hope they make this recent attempt at bringing the concept back semi-permanent?

Target has always had their Exclusive Star Wars lego, hopefully these Walmart packs stay permanent. Could they be doing it to compete with them?

I was just thinking this, does anyone know what media the clones vs droids battle pack will be based on? Ep 3 or clone wars, or just a more "general" branding since the new clone armour is a mix of movie and animated?

Renown was hinting a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile ago that the Octuptarra droid in the set made it's debut in Ep-3. If he's aware of the two variants of the Octuptarra Droid and knows that the movie one is technically different and is smaller and bronze in colour and the clone wars version is blue and larger, then it would suggest that it's an episode 3 set. Realistically though, it won't be that deep. It'll likely have Clone Wars branding because Clone Wars is the hotter topic right now.

We see a bronze Octuptarra Magna Tri-Droid on Mygeeto in RotS.
