Absolutely wild that only 2 sets out of almost 10 2025 sets we know of are actually minifigure sets. However, if there is a silver lining to any of this, then perhaps it’s that this frees up space for a good volume of traditional system sets for 2HY25 without more buildables clogging things up. Hopefully that equates to a decent amount of sets. Or whatever Lucasfilm animation is cooking up getting sets. I would not expect much given that, as has already been pointed out, it's not really a show aimed too much at kids. That said, I guess that's a pretty fair argument for why if they do anything, it seems more likely it'd be a bigger and/or adult-focused set? The Fondor feels like the obvious choice but doing something else like a U-Wing would be nice too. I'll take anything honestly I just want an Andor set that I'm actually interested in Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 I don't get the argument that Andor is not aimed at kids enough to justify getting sets while we get so many sets aimed at adults nowadays. Just build a black border around a playset (maybe add some details and a plaque), call it diorama, add 20% the price and voilà, it's an 18+ set! I'm still waiting for an Pre-Mor battlepack. While Andor was such a cool series and i loved the vibe, the concept of Pre-Mor impressed me the most. Quote

This. Diorama, Starship Collection and one of the two Droids as an Display Set would be great ways to target the adult fans. Quote

Young kids don’t like Star Wars the way prior generations did. Aside from the content the past 7 or so years, on the whole, being very bad, the original six movies have not aged well and can be a tough watch. Edited August 15, 2024 by Something_Awesome Quote

I maintain there was no reason for anyone to expect that, we didn't get a dedicated wave of playsets for any of the film anniversaries over the past few years. Which honestly kind of makes sense the more I think about it- kids aren't the ones who are getting hit with the nostalgia of an anniversary. 11 hours ago, Agent Kallus said: Since they're probably gonna ignore Andor S2 thry could at least do a couple of Rouge One sets as loose tie-ins. I don't think it'll happen but I'd love a U-wing at like a $130 price point so we can get the two-seater cockpit and more room below. (I was going to say like $100, but the 2016 U-wing, which was $80, would be $105 today at the same size accounting for inflation ) Quote

Couldn’t agree more. Anniversary waves just aren’t a thing and never have been, so it’s mystifying why people keep expecting them. Can’t wait for all the “TLG hates the prequels because ROTS doesn’t get an anniversary wave” drivel coming next year At least they usually acknowledge the anniversaries with printed bricks, which is enough for me. I prefer the variety we’ve been getting recently over having an entire waves of sets dedicating to one specific old movie anyway. Quote

But either way would there be any difference between the torsos? Presumably the next step down from Admiral is Vice-Admiral, and as we see with Rae Sloane that gives the same insignia as Piett but with a single column removed, meaning a regular Admiral would surely still have 6 columns? I guess it could be to do with code cylinders but those are apparently too difficult for the designers to get right anyway nowadays 🙄. In fact, the original Piett figure only has 2 cylinders when he should have 3; perhaps 2 cylinders is for a standard Admiral which means we actually have got that rank but not a proper Fleet Admiral? According to the canon Thrawn Books, Admirals are in command of a Task-force of a ISD and 2-4 Light cruisers. A SSD is the equivalent of 12 ISD’s therefore that leads me to believe that Piett needs to be at least a Fleet Admiral to command one. Vice-Admirals are below Fleet Admirals but above standard Admirals. I know it’s extremely weird(Disney really needs to publish a proper Rank ID system) Thrawn in TOTE is in command of a fleet of 3 ISDs. And has a rank Plaque of 6 Blue Squares. Leading me to believe that that’s the Rank of an Admiral. Quote

I thought it went Fleet Admiral > Admiral > Vice Admiral. That's how it is in real-world navies. As for more currently-relevant stuff, has anyone found the Sabine magazine with anything other than the 212th trooper? Usually there's variation for issues with a 2nd bag but haven't seen anything else so far. Quote

We are severely lacking in single-line ranks, with the only ones we have being captains for Army, Navy, and Security/Stormtrooper Corps, colonel (Yularen), Praji’s rank*, and the mystery 3R/3Y with light grey tunic**! *Praji is referred to as “Commander”, but his insignia suggests a higher rank than that. Considering that “Commander” is also used as a title for ranking Stormtroopers (all pauldron colours, as well as no pauldron at all, have been addressed as “Commander”), my personal belief is that Vader is just addressing him by his title rather than his rank (“See to it personally, Commander”). **Thanks to Andor, we now know that light grey tunics are worn by ISB attendants (and possibly all junior ISB officers), but this guy’s rank is too high for him to be a junior officer. Additionally, his rank is structured unlike any other aside from Admiral Brom Titus (Red-Yellow). My theory for him is that he is Navy Operations (despite no direct source for that branch’s existence). Army Operations uses Yellow-Red ranks, and Army and Navy single-lines are reversed in colour (Army is Red-Blue, while Navy is Blue-Red), so Red-Yellow makes sense for a Navy Operations branch. Additionally, since the Imperial Department for Advanced Weapons Research (Krennic’s domain) is a subdivision of Imperial Intelligence (formerly Imperial Navy Intelligence), and since AWR officers wear white tunics just like ISB do, it is likely that they use the Navy rank structure (ISB uses Army or Security/Stormtrooper Corps), and that they have officers who wear light grey tunics. If light grey is specifically for attendants, and not all junior officers, then this mystery officer (likely a Navy Operations Commodore) could be an aide to a senior AWR officer (which also explains his presence on the Death Star!). As for Brom Titus, a Navy Operations admiral makes perfect sense as the commander of the experimental Interdictor-class Cruiser. 3 hours ago, CallumPears said: You sure? We do need a chart for double-lines, though, and a better explanation for the discrepancies than ranks being sector-specific. 1 hour ago, CloneCommando99 said: Honestly we need an ISD Bridge Diorama with a bunch of different ranks. That's legit the perfect idea for a diorama, I'm surprised I've never seen this suggested before (or thought of it myself). It's kinda interesting that all the dioramas have been action scenes aside from Yoda's hut. I guess that's just what Lego figures will sell better (and I'd bet they're largely right), but it feels like a little bit of a waste since those are the kinds of scenes we could be getting as playsets anyway. Scenes that are just talking and the like seem much better suited to the "adult-oriented" dioramas. Quote

Last time I (teacher) saw kids talking Star Wars all the time was the TCW era, with a mild intrest in TFA but then it was gone. All the shows aimed at young people had no impact. Who even remembers Resistance? Lego Star Wars reflects this perfectly. Now we get entry level sets exclusively aimed at adults. What 7-year old wants Jedi Bob or an Ackbar trooper? That is pure 90ies nostalgia and memes, i.e. 100% adult. This is where we are. A Lego diorama of the Death Star conference? Sure, I would buy that immediately! Same with many other diaramas. ...I am 40 years old. It is high time we hold Lego to that standard of adult collector's item and stop defending inaccuracies by mindlessly saying its a kids' toy every single time an inaccuracy is mentioned. (Yularen's wrong uniform details cost as much in printing as would have the correct one e.g., in an 650€ set!). Not to mention Lego prides itself being the top of the line, premium producer... Quote
