And there lies the reason for the Lego’s price increases

I wonder whether the UT-AT will have a similar troop capacity to the AT TE.

Now that the Clone vs Droid Battlepack exists, I feel that Lego’s going to start putting as many different legions as possible into larger sets as they can just be reinforced by the very versatile P2 shinies.

FIFY. There is a large segment of consumers who don't mind the prices, so why wouldn't Lego release higher get the extra profits and then discount it for the rest of the market.

Actually, I liked the idea of getting a turbo tank and Commander Wolffe based on the TCW episode "The lost one", as implied by the original rumor.

Yeah, that‘d be much better than yet another one based on the Battle of Kashyyyk!

Still no clue how they‘re gonna do it at that price point. Since it’s a 7+ set rumoured to have minifigs, it can‘t be part of the midiscale collection and it‘s too large for a new gimmicky microfighter-style subtheme :shrug_oh_well:

Exactly. Over on reddit there's been the usual number of 'lined up at the Lego store on day 1 and paid full retail to get the sets I want' type of posts. With this type of activity there's no reason for them to change their pricing strategy. In Australia one retailer has indicated they'll be selling the ARC-170 at about $15 usd below retail AND that shop regularly has 20% off sales. Wait a month or two and you'll get the set for about $45 usd rather than $70. If people are happy to pay a premium to get things early that's their choice but it's not one I'd ever be making.

Which one is this? I still haven't seen any new sets on the Kmart, Target, or BigW sites, so is it something else?

Big W has it listed for $89 aud but marked as 'sold out', which I'm guessing actually means 'not in stock yet' but that should be the price when they get some in.

Yeah, I understand the excitement about new sets, but at the end of the day, it rarely makes a difference to me if I get a set on day one.  I figured that I've already been waiting a few months for the release, I can go another couple of months and wait for a discount.  The only real exceptions for me are if it's tied into a GWP, or if it's the Indy Tomb set that I bought on release day two years ago .

I just don't feel a need to go buy every set immediately on release day every time.

Oh yeah! I managed to find it through google but it wasn't showing up on the app for me. Ahsoka's interceptor is also showing up on google at BigW for AU$60, but the link is broken.

I keep forgetting to talk about the starship collection, but I got the Starship Falcon for christmas and... wow. The building techniques that go into it are really cool to see. Ultimately, without the concerns about complexity or fitting minifigs, this ends up looking significantly better and more accurate than the system version that's over double the price! This set has really turned me around on the starship collection in all but one aspects- the price is still an issue. Since I got it as a gift, I didn't think as much about whether or not it was worth it, but looking at it now, as cool as it is, I don't think it's $85. And sets like the Home One and Invisible Hand have similarly inflated prices.

I really think lego could turn this line into a top seller with just one change- add a fig or two in. I know it's been said to death, but now that I've built one, I really do think it would turn these into S-tier sets. Han and Chewie with the Falcon, Antilles with the Tantive IV, Grievous with the Invisible Hand, and then you could do Ackbar with the Home One and a Clone Captain with the Acclamator. (I would say the P1 commander, but I think we've all decided we're OK if they skip those for a minute)

I agree with the figures and I think they should all be between $40-$70 as that would feel more like mid-range pricing. I like that we're getting ships we otherwise probably wouldn't get like the Home one or invisible hand.

We lost Gold Leader. In more ways than one.

Interesting. Obviously the actor has unfortunately died, but I wonder if this hints at a new TIE Advanced (Or even a TIE Advanced vs Y-wing)? The only other way to interpret it is that lego decided to cancel a Y-wing set or Dutch Vander minifigure, which aside from being an odd choice- a Y-wing is an obvious solid seller and it'd be extremely strange to remove a figure from a set because the actor died- would be a first for Renown, who I don't think has ever hinted at sets or figs we didn't get.

Maybe the “in more ways than one” refers to there being a second ship in the set? Both the killer and the killed? Suggesting that it’s a full set based off the scene where original gold leader dies (in universe)

Edit: But, on the other hand, I did some research. There were also gold leaders at the battles of Anaxes and Muunilist. And I know the latter’s legends but… during that battle this exact phrase was spoken: "Commander, we lost Gold Leader." It would also fit with the knowledge (from Max-Baut) we’re getting a P1 Clone Pilot in the summer, and the starfighters in that battle were V-19 torrents (Could we get Fordo?!!)

The ‘in more ways than one’ could also possibly mean we’re getting both a V-19 and a rebel y-wing.

But that’s just a theory…. A Commando theory.

If Lego followed that logic, we shouldn’t be getting Ben Kenobi, Black Panther, Adam West Batman, Princess Leia or Darth Vader minifigs

I second this didn’t gold leader came in the Yavin set a couple years ago I feel like this referring to Enoch as only chance of getting him at the moment is in the night trooper bp so I think this is confirmation he isn’t coming

I think the tie advanced theory seems the most likely to me. A set of just the tie advanced seems like a good fit into the summer lineup, and this feels like a very Renown way to tease it. The quote referring to Vader taking out gold leader and the fact we have formerly had a tie advanced y wing duel pack means there’s more than one way to interoperate tie advanced as what’s being teased. Plus as multiple people have pointed out already, Renown hasn’t teased solely what’s not coming before. Not that it couldn’t change, but it would be against the trend.

That's my thought- TIE Advanced and Y-wing 2-pack

Actually, Muunilist isn't a bad guess, Renown does like to use exact quotes. I still think it's most likely the former, but Muunilist is a real possibility. (I'd be ticked if it was the muunilist gunship specifically though- it's a cool design but it'd be two system republic gunships in 3 years, neither of them the base color scheme, and it would cement the clone domination of the wave.)

I think in more ways than one is referencing the unfortunate death of the actor who plays him recently.

Yeah, that's why I'm saying I think that interpretation's unlikely- they didn't cancel figs of anyone else. I think the only time we know they cancelled a figure from a set without cancelling the set outright is when the Flash Batmobile was retooled into a Batman 1989 one, removing the Ezra Miller flash figure, which... yeah in that particular case it's understandable, iirc he was actively on the run from police around that time.

Yeah I can't imagine it refers to enoch either, I guess it's possible as enoch is a leader and features gold in his design, but I don't think it fits with the way Renown normally leaks stuff.

I could buy into this theory; I take that back, I already have. Now you’ve got my bank account worried.

He seems to have a source high up in LEGO, so it’s not entirely impossible. Maybe the word that Gold Leader wouldn’t be included was the first news on a potential Y-Wing he’s gotten so far.

As for the possibility of Gold Leader being canceled, maybe the actor’s estate doesn’t want anymore LEGO minifigs of him? I think that’s what happened to any proposed Stan Lee minifigs since he passed. If the Yavin IV set was still in production, I’d suggest that maybe this could be a Finch Dallow situation (in which we get Gold 2 or something, which wouldn’t be too bad if done well), but now I’m just spit-balling.

First, if you haven’t been already, welcome to Eurobricks.

Second, going off what I was saying just above, maybe he’s also referring to this in addition to everything else, maybe not. (This is reminding of the game Clue—if so, I believe we need a definite number of cards to which he’s referring.)

I do believe plenty more people would buy a Muunilist gunship over a Coruscant Guardship (i.e. me). I do agree that we should wait a while before another.

Could be; could be both. Glad that Renown has given us yet another hint for us to chew on.

Not trying to be rude at all, but I hope we don’t this an annual tradition anytime Renown pipes in with a hint.

I also seriously doubt he was drunk. I believe he was trying to tell us with his 1984 quote that he nearly lost his source at TLG or he did but now has a new one, and in his later post was trying to throw us off the truth. A day ago I wouldn’t have been all too surprised if he stopped posting all together; the fact that he still is alive is promising.

Getting a CW microseries set when it had its 20th anniversary 2 years ago without any sets would be wild. If anything I would take the hint that there's no longer a V19 happening.

I guess it's possible, but I just couldn't see why. By all accounts the guy loved being in star wars and showed up to conventions all the time, so I'm not sure why his family would want to stop lego minifigures of him- plus to my knowledge there's no likeness money or anything for a lot of those characters, so I kind of doubt that they even inform the actor when they make a minifigure of them in most cases- which is to say I don't think there's any legalese tied to it the family could have had issue with. As for Stan Lee, according to brickfanatics, his likeness currently is allowed to be used in merch via a deal, at least as of 2022. Lego designers said they couldn't "make it work" for a stan minifig in the avengers tower, though it's unknown why that was. (I will also say that it's a bit of a different situation with stan, where there's a whole company- not marvel, a whole other company- regarding his likeness, whereas while Gold Leader by all accounts loved his role in the film and being with the fans, he wasn't exactly on the same level.)

TLDR I guess it's possible his family reached out to lucasfilm and said "no more gold leader merch", but I can't imagine why, and I feel like we would have heard something about it besides a vague hint that could possibly mean it from a lego leaker.

Oh I agree the Muunilist one is much cooler and would even be tempted to buy it if they brick-built the "face" on the gunship and it came with a good number of 2003 ARCs, but like you say, we need to wait awhile before it makes sense to tie up another $100+ slot with one.

In @BrickBob Studpants's defense, I think Renwon himself did say he was on a bit too much blue milk when he made the 1984 hint. Though I agree "he's drunk" is probably not the correct one here- it clearly and directly relates to star wars, as do most of his other hints, with the inebriated one being just a 1984 quote that we really had to reach to find anything on. (IIRC we found that Peter Cushing was in a 1984 adaption or something?)

Hope my comment didn‘t come across as offensive, I was just poking fun at Renown‘s explanation for last year‘s 1984 hint (which he jokingly claimed was a result of getting drunk)

Not sure if this was posted earlier but an update on price and piece count for 75409 - UCS Jango's Slave I, per Brick_Clicker:

2970 pieces

$300.00

Both are substantially higher than 75060. I'm really interested to see how this one turns out.

I find these days if the piece count is higher it doesn’t mean it is getting bigger, a lot of the pieces are a lot smaller these days which is why I personally never care or worry to much about the piece count.

im just glad there is another prequel era UCS
