Death Star set is my top priority set this year (outside Brad dur).  Can’t wait to see pictures.  Hoping one of the four unknowns is tarkin but doubting it as that would theoretically be an easy identification given the context.  Hoping it is a true counter set to Yavin and that the other four figures are all imperials.

Same here. Not only does it have my favourite Disney-era Jedi but it also has a small imperial task force. Which I’m never going to say no to. Praying that the officers are any of: Captain, Lieutenant, Motti or Tagge. And then Tarkin being one of the four unknowns so we can get as many new ranks as possible.

Isn’t R2-KT supposed to be coming in the special 25th Anniversary set? If that’s the case, then KT could totally just be another figure since the set’s not based on anything in particular (presumably), but also technically an “anniversary” minifigure since it’s an anniversary set.

Ideally it’s Leia who isn’t an anniversary figure. But yeah this would probably be the best case scenario.

That sounds very much possible actually. Some leakers game of telephone and the creature ends up being in fact the Sarlacc. We'll see :shrug_confused:

If Young Leia does come in the Sarlaac pit, that probably will mean her original set number is an Acolyte set.

Brickclicker just leaked some more info on the Death Star playset. It’s $159.99. Confirmed figures: Darth Vader, 2 stormtroopers, imperial crew member,  Death Star trooper, 2x imperial officers and 4 other unknown figures. (+ already confirmed Cal Kestis) It sounds good.

This set sounds really nice and I am excited to see actual pictures of it.  While I am happy for the 2 officers I wonder if they are just regular officers and we can also get Moff Tarkin or another named officer among the 4 unkown figures or if a named officer character is only possible among those 2 officers.

I don't know how others feel about this, but I would really enjoy if the minifigure selection in the Death Star playset was all Empire-based, just like how it was all Rebel-based in the Yavin 4 set. I really don't want another farmboy Luke or Leia inside. I guess stormtrooper Han and Luke would work as you can just get a helmet and make it a regular stormtrooper, but I would really like if it was all Empire.

On the topic of the anniversary figure it really makes more sense if R2-KT is not an anniversary figure and just an additional figure with Jedi Bob for example with the entire set being charity based. Gentle Giant statue, Mattel's Hot Wheel and HASBRO's figure of R2-KT all had some sort of charity involved with it from Make a Wish to UNICEF so I really hope LEGO does it as well.

Hot take - I actually think I like the cockpit of 75095 better than the Interceptor. The shape of the Interceptor cockpit is fine, but it's jumbled and there are some strange gaps directly surrounding the windshield. 75095 is blocky but it just flows better visually in my opinion.

Interceptor looks great overall and I'll be picking it up day one, hopefully in time to snag what looks like a really good GWP in the droid carrier.

Incredibly late but I agree. I don't mind gappiness if we get a design that actually looks round, but the design of the Interceptor one is way too jumbled. I prefer the more simple approach with 75095. I just wish the windshield piece was trans-black instead of trans-clear, but that applies to every windscreen pieve they do (Millennium Falcon especially!)

Nice to finally hear something more about the Death Star playset! :sweet:
The minifigure lineup sounds great.
Considering the mentioned minifigures/types of characters, what kind of rooms(s) do you think the set will be?
It doesn't seem like a throne room, which I'm very pleased with, because, as other have stated long before, I think it'd be nice to have a more generic-looking room that could be displayed as random Imperial facility.

The price if quite high, though, so I guess it'll be rather big.

Mitch

I think it’s more likely that R2-KT is a figure in an anniversary set as opposed to being an anniversary figure.
there is one rumoured to come out later in the year which is speculated to be similar to the falcon holiday diorama we got last year

That’s a good question. The presence of an imperial crewman (which is interesting as I don’t think there’s been an imperial crewman in any previous Death Star sets) suggests that there will be some kind of command centre or hangar. The Death Star trooper points to a detention block.(or he’s just an extra that makes sense) We don’t currently know if the officers are named or generic but I feel like there may be a small conference room for them. The Stormtroopers give the indication of some kind of sector that requires security/ patrols like a cargo bay.

My prediction for the remaining 4 figures: Tarkin, Tie Pilot, another Death Star Trooper and an imperial gunner.

Either that or: Leia, Obi-Wan and Stormtrooper Han and Luke

I really don't think anyone rational is going to decide that because Jedi bob has a light skin tone, lego is racist or something.

I was not taking it that far; I just meant that choosing to make Jedi Bob (a character who has only ever been depicted as yellow) light nougat on the poster recalls the Lando situation.

Odd that we are getting two Imperial officers (generic, I assume?) but only one each of Imperial crew and Death Star Trooper. I assume that at least one of the four unidentified Minifigs will be a gunner, and another will be Tarkin; hopefully we get Motti/Tagge/Romodi/Bast as well.

The Sarlaac pit is now supposedly and surprisingly coming with an anniversary figure as well. Nien Nunb? Also according to Brick Clicker.

I doubt that it will be Nien, since none of the other anniversary Minifigs correspond to the instalment depicted by the main set (Saw in TPM, Fives in ANH, Malak in Artoo).

It is unlikely that we will get any double-line ranks in a strictly ANH set (which I am assuming this is, since we did not even get Mon Mothma in Yavin), so the most likely option for generic officers is Security/Stormtrooper captains (black uniform, four blue).

Brick Clicker also said the Skiff set will include "one Desert Skiff and a small Sarlacc Pit"... No idea how they're gonna squeeze 558 pieces into this when the last two each had 200-300 pieces. Thought they might throw in two skiffs for the scene but apparently not.

Fair point.

I’m kind of starting to hope the ‘Death Star playset’ (which even Brick Clicker appended with a question mark) could actually be based on Fortress Inquisitorius from Fallen Order. Obviously characters like Death Star Troopers aren’t present there but hey, why not?

You totally might be on to something here.

I'm pretty disappointed at the moment if Tarkin is not in that set - I don't get how you make a Death Star set without him, but it being Fortress Inquisitorious would explain his absence.

Yeah and not to mention it’s been 8(?) years since we last saw him in a set - feels long overdue.

I wonder if they might include the superlaser control room. The superlaser is one of the most iconic/recognisable parts which would make sense. I could see the remaining figures being 2x Death Star Gunners and maybe Tarkin and Romodi?

I meant Imperial army Lieutenant not the Navy Lieutenant. Navy Lieutenant is the one in UCS star destroyer. And a stormtrooper Lieutenant is the cell block officer in ANH. Army Lieutenant is 2 red squares and a blue square on a grey uniform.

Yeah you’re right. Nien Nunb also fits in too well with the X-Wing vs Tie Fighter set so I still think he’s going to be in that.

On the Bright side… Mara Jade’s back on the cards!!!

Yeah. As much as I would love it to be a fortress inquisitorius, I’m still 99% sure that it’s a Death Star playset which is honestly just as good. I think that Tarkin is just a one of the four unknowns and that those figures are just hidden by the walls between rooms (if the leakers were shown images)

I started wondering the same thing...
Also, earlier I'd already forgotten about the additional unknown 4 minifigures. I hope they might be some named officers, as frequently suggested.
Or at least officers of ranks or divisions/departments we haven't had (much) yet :sweet:

Assumably at that piece count it's just a larger skiff and larger sarlacc pit. If they're going to be alongside an MBS barge, the sarlacc at least needs to be much bigger.

I’m most likely wrong, but it seems odd that this set has so much uncertainty around if it it’s meant to be an OT set. Of course it’s possible Young Leia may not be an anniversary figure, but the possibilities are exciting nonetheless.

As cool as that would be, it's almost certainly not. For one thing, Cal is an anniversary figure, which is like the one thing this set seems to have agreed on. There's no way that they'd put an anniversary figure in a set based on the game that the anniversary figure is the main character of. And there's been absolutely no rumors of inquisitors, purge troopers, or other characters who've been to the fortress like Cere.

All branches use the same double-line rank after Yavin (with a couple of exceptions), so Army and Navy lieutenants both have 2r/2b.

Most likely. Do we know if that will also have an anniversary ‘fig?

It seems worth noting that if this Death Star playset is the counterpart of the Yavin IV base, that this upcoming set has a considerably higher piece count. Yavin had under 1100 pieces and the DS apparently over 1500 pieces, at a similar price point.

I'm very interested but I'll have to postpone purchasing it for a bit, since I'm still finalizing my move back to my homeland.

I did not know that about the ranks. Thank you. It’s always interesting to learn new lore details.

I don’t think there’s anything that suggests the X-Wing vs Tie fighter will have an anniversary figure. However we thought that about the Sarlaac pit so who knows. 🤷‍♂️

I'm confused. The text on the LEGO homepage says:

Harnessing the unlimited power of… well… our designers… we’re releasing a big batch of special sets in our 25th year, including SIX special-edition LEGO Star Wars minifigures!

But the latest leaks say that there are 7?

Elephant in the room.

Two options: R2-KT is not an anniversary figure OR Young Leia is not an anniversary figure. The latter seems more likely.

But then it's still 7?!?

  • Malak
  • Fives
  • Maul
  • Saw
  • Cal
  • Leia or R2-KT
  • Unknown Minifig comming with the Sarlacc Pit

Does Maul count? He is not comming in a 'special set'.

I'd say Nien Numb is the 6th and last one and Leia,R2-KT and Maul don't count.

Is that Anniversary Set in October a Tantive Hallway expansion ?

Maul does not count. Note that he's done in the 20th anniversary style- old minifigure with back print. He's just a fun book extra, he's not meant to be an anniversary figure in the way the six coming are.

Chances are Leia could be the fig for the sarlaac pit and the rumour of being with a creature was false or the person saw the sarlaac and was trying to be to cryptic or misleading. Someone said about the increased piece count for this set and only getting one barge so could be because we are getting a bigger sarlaac pit maybe to accompany the sail barge?

it think R2-KT is a figure in an anniversary set rather than an anniversary figure in a set

Though I don't know whether or not LEGO outright said that there were six anniversary Harry Potter figs, the main graphic being advertised at the time was of the six that were included in mainline sets. As we know, three more were released in the D2C later in the year. I think a similar thing is happening here. They're advertising the six from the mainline playsets that are all accessible around the world, and both R2-KT and "Legacy" Maul, being outliers and being included in products that won't have the same availability as other sets, are extras that are still labelled as anniversary figs on packaging because not doing so would be frankly a bit weird.

In the discussion of anniversary minifigs, don't forget that lego often include barely related characters in sets. Lando in am a-wing set a few years back for instance. So its possible that nein numb, for instance is just a tangentially related normal minifig in a set.
