It has to be one with a flat surface to print the "face" on, which there aren't too many of...

Minecraft head it is then! It doesn't get any flatter than that!

In all honestly, I think it's probably just the Stormtrooper helmet with a little bit of gold added on. Heck, this could even be another case of "early concept art in the official set," and he could look very different to the on-screen version.

Mandr moment.

Speaking of which. I would be interested to know you guys’ thoughts on the Rex’s Microfighter controversy. I think that it’s a good thing that allows kids to get a desirable character for a small price. And the only people who are complaining about it are those who were stupid enough to “Invest” in the venator’s figures. And are now salty that they can’t rob a Rex fan of $100-200.

I didn't even know that was him, I just saw instagram and youtube comments, but it makes sense. It's such a weirdly specific complaint for people to have, so it makes sense that a lot of it's sourced from MandR.

I love it. It's glorious. And I say this as a guy who resells lego online. I personally only do my own collection, friends'/neighbors' stuff on commission, and bulk ebay lots I sort out to rebuild the sets from. But I don't begrudge the people who buy new sets and sell the figs and figless set/parts separately, so long as they aren't buying so many as to prevent people from buying the set directly from retailers. The prices tend to be pretty high, but it's providing another option. A $650 set for rex or $200 for rex alone isn't worse than just the first option, as no one's making you do the second. But that said, lego releasing the figure again is absolutely something they'd have to be ready for. It's an obvious risk of lego resale and you shouldn't get all butthurt when it happens. It's also a genius move by lego- they get the venator sales from people who feel they need to immediately have rex, then make him later availible to kids and adults who didn't want the venator and aren't going to drop $650 on a fig. They also said a few years ago they were gonna work towards not making as many figs/characters exclusive to super expensive sets, so it's not like this came out of nowhere.

I remember I had a grand inquisitor up around the time the kenobi set with him released. I think the price dropped around $60, so I lowered it on my BL listing, and it sold awhile later (I always try to have the cheapest US price for any figs over a couple bucks so they'll sell fast). I didn't start screaming that lego was devaluing the figure. Hell, I've got a Thrawn in my collection right now that I think about selling pretty frequently, but I'm not mad about the new one.

I feel that.

They're a very light, almost silver-colored blue in the comic. It would have been a nice detail, not necessary, but I wouldn't call it a stupid complaint if some of us (me) would've preferred him to have a bit more pop.

But, if we don't get red lenses for regular Vader, we can't really expect Lego to color them now.

You mean "nontroversy". I feel the head print is the only part that should've been re-done (give us that OG Rex 5 o'clock shadow ), but it's under the helmet so who cares.

Yularen can still make that bread though, *fingers crossed for his rerelease next*

I mean, if it's so light it could be shading in the comic (which again isn't neccesarily even what this figure was based on- a white armored vader isn't exactly the most unique place to take the idea of "good vader"), I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect printing on a helmet we've never had printing on before. (Also, it's not the only difference between the comic- which he's in like 2 panels in- and the lego figure. The lego figure has colored torso buttons.)

Yeah, I would have been fine with a changed head too, but I love that it's the exact same figure so the scalpers burn.

Venator Microfighter in January 2025? (Probably not but it'd be hilarious)

I thought ( I may be misremembering ) that it was said that it was was night sister Morgan in the set?

I mean as the set will be based on a Lego cartoon this with surely be one of the most accurate Vaders ever, even the body proportions will be in the with the onscreen character and I'm sure the lenses will be.

I mean if Lego was in the habit of printing Vader lenses I'd get the complaint but they aren't ( and the helmet usually looks all black anyway).

I might be misremembering too, good if it is!

Yeah, exactly. Even if the comic vader had blue lenses (I maintain it just looks like shading to me- and no one's arguing the forehead of his helmet should be LBG or there should be a gradient printed on his collar armor), this isn't the comic vader.

Coincidentally I just came across an article which mentioned the Japanese Kintsugi technique of repairing pottery with gold lacquer (or platinum or silver). Has this been mentioned as the source of inspiration for the Night Troopers damaged armors?

I am sure Enoch will look great and since the Night Troopers are such an unique and interesting army, a battlepack of 4 Troopers with individual damages and gold and red repairs seems logic, no?

Yup, in fact back when they leaked kintsugi was one of the first things referenced, to the point they were pretty frequently referred to as kintsugi troopers before the night trooper name was revealed.

He is coming, but let’s just say with all the other figs being pretty decked out they had to cut corners somewhere, so no new mold.

Man this'll be interesting.

ANAD IRON MAN HELMET :poke:

I don’t want to take any risks you psychopath. You’ll doom us all! So please cease your summoning or we will have to send you to the DC discussion thread.

My condolences to those who were looking forward to Enoch. But let us pray for more and better imperial troops in January. Long Live the Empire!

Wishful thinking, but fingers crossed for two "Mandoverse" Imperial BPs!

I'm not gonna lie I would have taken the ANAD helmet if we found out via Foggy replying to you with "ANAD Iron Man helmet" after it'd been said twice.

But seriously, that is just about the worst case scenario for the helmet.

You mean the one this summer and a night trooper one this january, or are you saying you want two mandoverse imperial BPs next year?

Yup. Whether night troopers or standard stormtroopers, I'll be happy.

The latter. An OT Stormie BP would be pretty lame IMO, but a Mando one with an Incinerator Trooper? Sign me up :moar:

As long as there are a decent amount of normal Stormies that are either clean or battle-damaged then i’ll be happy. Something like: Incinerator Trooper, battle-damaged stormtrooper and 2 clean stormtroopers would be the dream.

Add a scout trooper, let Sam Raimi direct and watch the box office explode!

Honestly although this is an unpleasant surprise Enoch was probably always going to be hit or miss anyway because of how his mask would have to be stylised to fit in with Lego. Hopefully there’ll be another figure with a new mold for Ahsoka season 2 or the Filoni film

Lego Enoch might look quite similar to this

As long as the gold face printing looks better than this I’ll be happy lol

Ohhh, that‘d be perfect! Another trooper variant I‘d still be thrilled to see is the Juggernaut Pilot, but that‘d make little sense in a BP (especially since during 95% of their screentime it‘s Mando and Mayfeld in disguise). But I digress, this turns into wishlisting…

So far, the following helmets have been suggested (unless I forgot someone‘s suggestions):

  • Regular Stormie
  • Range Trooper
  • TIE/AT-AT Pilot
  • Phase II Clone Trooper
  • ANAD Iron Man :snicker:

Any other ideas?

Maybe the FO Stormie‘s could work? That one has enough printing area as well

I think you may have just cracked it. It’s probably the most logical choice. But Lego isn’t known for being logical at times.

Definitely a good contender for the shape, though it was last made in 2019 so I wonder if they still have the mold available.

They were still using it in 2020 for the Sith Trooper  I don‘t think they‘d shelve a versatile mould that quickly, despite the current drought of ST era sets. Rey‘s hairpiece for instance was still in production too, recently!

I can actually live with that, and it feels more likely than reviving a one-off like the Range Trooper.

So while i was waiting in the line i had time to count 15! of the Lego Star Wars Magazines with the 501st Specialist at my local supermarket. I wonder if they have sold a single copy. The price increase is doing the magazines no favor...

The next gift will be a minibuild, i hope Sabine comes after that.

Honestly that helmet gives me a lot of hope that they can pull off Enoch well with the standard stormtrooper mold. Obviously not perfect- the bottom of his helmet is more range trooper or shoretrooper like- but like you say, if they don't mess up the printing as badly as that custom, I think it'll look just fine. (though I almost wonder if that's intentional on the custom, I know a lot of customs guys do classic styles and that's a classic style "face". Doesn't fit with all the details on other parts of the body, but the amount of "classic style" figures I've seen with arm printing is baffling.)

Yeah the specialist was a weird choice, especially since the battle pack has been discounted loads and as you mentioned they've put the price of the magazine up to the point of it barely being worth it even when it's a good figure sometimes.

Can't wait for Sabine; I'm gonna get quite a few of her to be stand-ins for female Mauldalorians.

Surely it wouldn't work with the current mold though? The dual-molding for the mouth just wouldn't fit at all. I think FO Stormie or Range Trooper are the most likely

Ah true! Forgot they put the Sith Trooper in the advent calendar the year after TRoS. Definitely possible (and they've brought molds like the Gamorrean guard back after much longer breaks, though I suppose that's a little different since those were specialised molds while this would be a reuse).

That custom uses the old Stormie helmet piece though, which is no longer in production. As @CallumPears points out, the current dual-moulded piece wouldn‘t work since the eyes are moulded, which don‘t fit Enoch‘s mask design in the slightest

That said, if the old Stormie helmet mould was still around, that would be a good fit!

Any chance of more August reveals tomorrow?

Maybe? The upcoming Minecraft Crafting Table set, which is also scheduled for August, was supposed to be revealed tomorrow but of course got leaked already  Since there aren‘t that many sets scheduled for July, I suppose they could instead reveal some of the SW sets to fill the gap?

Yes, in set 75264.

Maybe anniversary sets tomorrow? And then Lego reveals the RTG sets and C3P0 in July?

Yeah, I got excited seeing the old one and forgot they changed it.

In which case my money's on FO trooper. There's no way the Range Trooper element is still in production- actually, I think lego's standard time until molds are destroyed is 5 years max (3-D models of molds mean they can be re-used, but budget wise they count as new molds since it's new physical molds), and the set's been retired about that long.

Or the other way around, though I think you're closer given the figures have been revealed.

There is one set scheduled for July I'd like to see...

But I dunno. I feel like sometimes these companies just like to pretend like things don't leak and we're seeing them for the first time.

Just seen on Reddit that one of the next magazine gifts is a Vader minifigure (as if anyone needs him at this point with how many sets they're using the same figure in- as a sidenote if Vader's going to be in every other set they could at least start making different versions to be accurate to his different appearance in each film). Looks like it also comes with a little storage tin which could be cool though.

So we still have no idea of when Sabine will be coming.
