Everyone keeps talking about what helmet mold they'd print Enoch's golden face on, meanwhile I'm thinking they could throw a clone p2 pilot/V wing pilot mold with the face just being on the minifigure head piece underneath.

I dunno how good that would work- it's a pretty different shape- but either way I'm pretty sure that the mold no longer exists. It's been around 9 years.

I know that it’s unlikely, but now that we know that a Star Wars Total War videogame is in development, is it possible that Lego could release a bunch of Battlepacks for the in-game factions to coincide with its release?

It looks to be a 25 years of LSW special issue and not a regular magazine issue? Vader has arm printing on the picture.

Vader's had arm printing in every set for the past 3 years. 

I see the 25th anniversary banner but I'm pretty sure it's still a standard issue of the magazine. If it was a bonus issue then surely they'd advertise the next standard issue on the back page, not this one?

To me it looks like a special issue.

The next standard issue (with the imperial shuttle minibuild) will be released in 2 weeks in Germany. I am keen to see what they'll advertise on the last page.

It's awesome and appropriate that a major character like Rex is not locked behind a $650 paywall. People could have easily been convinced to buy the Venator, thinking that's the only way they'd ever be able to add this Rex to their collections. As others have mentioned, Lego could have avoided this entire controversy by altering the head print (eg. removing the bandage). Then, they can still say Venator Rex is "exclusive", but everyone can still get basically the same figure for cheap.

If they really fear the set gets devalued when Rex shows up in an other (cheap) set, they could have waited a year or two before making the decision whether or not they want to buy the Venator. Instead they had to buy it on day one.

It's TLG and everything is always possible.

Possible- the majority of video game SW sets lego's done in the past decade have been battlepacks. My guess is it'd be like those battlepacks and not scream "THIS IS FROM THE TOTAL WAR GAME" all over it, but I could easily see them sliding out a Rebel and Imperial pack with some game units as a tie-in, like you say.

That's certainly possible (as for what's "allowed", I think strictly speaking that's usually in the future star wars sets thread, but if it's a prediction and not just a wishlist sometimes they can squeak through), but I think looking at the recent microfighters that may not be the case.

Microfighters are dying out. We went from 6 at a time, to one and a dual pack a year, to just two a year. But the more interesting thing to me is what those microfighers are... or rather, who's in them:

2022: Mando Microfighter

early 2023: Boba microfighter (Important note- this thing shelfwarms like crazy. I went to a couple targets last week for non-lego reasons and I dipped into the lego aisle in each of them to see if the Rex microfighter had been stocked early. The Boba microfighter was the ONLY SW set on sale at any of the targets- $7- I picked one up. I'm hoping they get discounted further because it's got a nice chunk of dark red parts- and they have SO MANY of them.)

mid 2023: Mando and Grogu microfighter

2024: Rex microfighter.

In each instance, these are highly desirable characters, with this usually being the cheapest way to obtain them (I'd bet boba being in a mech only $6 more than the microfighter not long after is why the microfighter is shelfwarming so hard). Hera's cool, but I don't think she's as popular as Mando, Boba, or Rex.

My money would be on a jedi starfigher microfighter with anakin, or maybe a micro t-6 with Ahsoka.

I don't have the energy to go check via wayback machine, especially since I just did the microfighter rundown, but it was always my understanding that lego used "exclusive" to mean "exclusive at this time", and exclusive figs would frequently show up in other sets later down the line. Might not be the best phrasing, but I don't think this is the first time it's happened.

Also, if someone buys a $650 set for a single minifigure and it's released later, they're going to be just as ticked off whether it's got a slightly different head or not. Still a monumentally bad decision on their part either way.

(Finally, I'd like to see someone try and sue lego over "deceptive language". Maybe Republicbricks? He likes to threaten people with layers...)

I went to my local LEGO store 24 minutes after they opened and there was a line of like 30 people. By the time I got in, they had completely sold out of the Rex microfighter but I managed to snag the 2 Mando sets. I guess I should have expected that but sheesh. I guess I'll pick it up in a month or 2 when they hype has died down.

Now that I've built the new Mando BP I think the Imperial super Commando helmet would be a decent choice for Enoch. I think though not perfect it could be a pretty decent fit if printed well.

I’m not entirely surprised that the microfighter has sold out already, very pathetic of those who buy excessive multiples but people like those were to be expected.

I miss the days where June 1st correlated with getting a first look at the August wave via the retail catalogues. Crazy that we’ve already seen most of what’s coming in August and beyond for most themes except Star Wars

Might be silly but as some of August is linked to that Lego show they might not release any official images for a while as they might be “spoilers”. Cant see any other real reason for any official pics not to have been released yet. I’m not sure when it’s going to air

I really hope that's not the case and it's just that everyone wants a cheap Rex. If I see lifebricks post a grey baseplate filled with Rex's I'm going to become the joker.

There is one July set from another theme that hasn't been revealed yet, but aside from that, yeah, it's weird we haven't seen the SW sets yet. 

 

I just dug around a bit- the august SW sets had image leaks May 20th of last year, looks like. Meaning we really should see all the august SW sets this year any day now.

They can’t really be too worried about spoilers, since the sets come out on August 1st while the show comes out mid-September.

It would be very funny if they revealed some Accolyte sets near it's release ( they'd probably have to be January sets at the very least now but we have gotten very early looks a couple times before with some mando sets like the razor crest) because then we'd have seen January sets before the August ones.

I built that set too today and thought the same thing! …at first, but then realised the helmet is dual-moulded and they‘d have to use white for both portions for it to work  Have they ever done a one-colour version of a dual-moulded piece before?

I was sure there was an example but it took me ages to find one, it's not something you can easily search.

But I nonetheless succeeded this is a Ninjago Zane, most versions with the TLNM hood upper part have the 'headband' in a different colour of plastic to the rest of the hood but here both are white. I'm sure it's not the only example either but it's the first I found.

Not sure if this one counts as the tip portion is a different material, but this tail piece is typically moulded in two different colours, but for Mando's N-1 was produced in entirely light bluish-grey.

Edit: Was also done in entirely dark-azure a year earlier for a Frozen set.

Another edit: Never mind, it's been done in all one colour several times, but I think it still counts, haha.

It’s outrageous. It’s unfair. How can LSW be one of the most popular themes and not be granted the rank of a August Wave reveal.
