ToaDraco Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I quite like the young ortolan. I'm certain he'll be a highlight from the show and the figure looks good, minus the eyes which are definitely a bit off. I laugh at the people saying LEGO should stop making sets based on Disney+ shows and only focus on old stuff, especially coming to this thread from the Marvel side of things where the exact opposite is the case and it's led to the theme utterly stagnating. Nothing at all says we wouldn't just be getting more OT rehashes instead of new ships and characters we've never gotten before from the prequels(as much as I would love that). They're going to make sets based on what's new and relevant to the zeitgeist and I'm all for that. The core problem is the communication, or lack thereof, that Lucasfilm has with LEGO and other product manufacturers for the sake of preventing spoilers, resulting in products that do a poor job of representing the actual movies and shows their based on. Meanwhile DC gets literally nothing. Not even a CMF like marvel. No wonder we at the DC thread became an Aslume. 💀 Edited June 5, 2024 by CloneCommando99 Quote

Fans say all the time of how tired they are of the yearly remakes and the onslaught of Clones, and now people are clamouring for more of that? And no, TLG will not stop making sets based on new content in favour of random CIS ships or Sio Bibble or something 90% of OT and PT sets are remakes, and that’s not likely to change. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 (edited) I'm enjoying the Accolyte so far.. It's only rated a 12 so I don't think that's why it's not got sets, I still think it's a scheduling thing As rumours initially suggested that the Accolyte was autumn 2024 and that Skeleton crew was going to release first before the Accolyte, I still have hopes for something in January. Edited June 5, 2024 by Agent Kallus Edit - I messed up trying to do spoilers on mobile. I'll repost what I said in a proper spoiler bracket when I'm on PC. Quote

Agreed. It’s actually quite good. I admit I was wrong. Quote
MKJoshA Posted June 5, 2024 Author Posted June 5, 2024 The last 2 pages got really off track. I admit that I enjoyed reading all the comments, but please keep that talk about show/movie opinions to our rarely used Media topic (warning, spoilers allowed there). Quote
Lego Nostalgia Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Please Lego don't reuse that weird elephant head for Max Rebo, please just resist the urge to cheap out and cut corners, you already messed up Enoch due to what we're hearing :( Quote

I definitely agree. Hopefully we'll get at least 1 or 2 Acolyte sets next year. At the very least, I want a figure of Kelnacca. Quote
ARC2149Nova Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Darth Binks is quite mid, honestly expected since I disliked how he looked in the trailer, but now it's confirmed. Dark-3PO is strange. The black arm is very out of place, but I do like the red eyes. Part of me thinks we should've just had regular gold C-3PO but with the new eyes. After all, an all Black-3PO would essentially be a new droid. Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I hope that Creepio’s legs are placeholders, and that the final figure has entirely gold legs (we have never gotten printed C-3PO legs without the silver shin, aside from the TFA polybag one), so that we can finally make the TCW/RotS/TLJ/TRoS version! 32 minutes ago, ARC2149Nova said: Dark-3PO is strange. Sure, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look out of place. I actually am pretty disappointed in the figure. I think a black C-3PO that could be used for trip would have been much better. And it looks like the black arm is printed, which is an odd allocation of resources when the darth jar jar fig feels somewhat lackluster. Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I like both of the leaked figures! Evil 3PO with his red eyes reminds me of the scene in TROS though, and now I’m sad. 5 years later and still no frikking Babu Frik Quote

I’m not sure it would sell the best, though, even if it were to have the enticement of the exclusive Young Leia anniversary minifigure. Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Darth Jar Jar doesn’t appear to have leg printing. What is this? Marvel? Quote

But a small Nevarro workshop with the IG mech for Grogu, S3 Greed and the Anzellans ( Babu Friks) is such a missed opportunity, maybe next year as Mando is one the few D+ shows to get multiple release after launch. 10 hours ago, Lego Nostalgia said: Please Lego don't reuse that weird elephant head for Max Rebo, please just resist the urge to cheap out and cut corners, you already messed up Enoch due to what we're hearing :( 11 minutes ago, CloneCommando99 said: Darth Jar Jar doesn’t appear to have leg printing. And I still think Enoch could look good with the Mando S3 Imperial super Commando helmet ( especially as we've established that it could be monotone plastic with printing). 2 hours ago, Classic_Spaceman said: I hope that Creepio’s legs are placeholders, and that the final figure has entirely gold legs (we have never gotten printed C-3PO legs without the silver shin, aside from the TFA polybag one), so that we can finally make the TCW/RotS/TLJ/TRoS version! Yeah, you'd think they'd do it more often, considering they clearly don't want to dual mold the one silver leg every time. 3 hours ago, ARC2149Nova said: Darth Binks is quite mid, honestly expected since I disliked how he looked in the trailer, but now it's confirmed. Dare I say that perhaps a non-Lego talk thread in this very sub-forum might do better than the one in the oft neglected Culture and multimedia sub-forum. I mean culture and multimedia is near the bottom of the list of sub-forums, and if people want to talk about star wars they click on the star wars forum. Maybe just an link/shortcut to the multimedia topic on the star wars topic listings page that says for non-lego talk click here. Even then though it's all connected so it's very easy to get off topic, but I'll try not to get off topic so easily. ( I'll have save all that for the DC thread where it belongs ) Quote

Kinda ironic considering there was a very early false rumour about an IG mech set (which was obviously based on leaked info from the production of the show itself) Definitely a missed opportunity, but that can still be rectified next year! 13 minutes ago, Agent Kallus said: ( especially as we've established that it could be monotone plastic with printing). Thanks for reminding me! People posted quite a few examples of single-coloured dual-moulded pieces in the thread, so it’s definitely a possibility! I hope they either pick that one or the FO Stormie helmet Quote

It seems like for characters like Threepio and Vader Lego just wants to keep the same printing for the character and don’t bother making it specifically accurate to their costume in the source-material they’re depicting. Which is especially noticeable on Vader, where his torso technically matches none of the source material Vader has ever appeared in. (It’s the ESB/ROTJ armour with a green button instead of a blue one.) Although I guess, granted, I don’t think we’ve ever gotten a C-3PO based off of TCW/ROTS/TLJ/TROS, so we can’t really fault Lego there. Would’ve been better if this 3PO had gold legs though. Quote
