CloneCommando99 Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 (edited) Anyone else think it’s weird that Lego made a brand new, highly detailed Quarren head mould in 2022 and haven’t used it since? I mean they could have easily made a Quarren rebel by now. Edited June 6, 2024 by CloneCommando99 Quote

Especially since we haven’t really gotten random unnamend non-human Rebels in 2016, and there’s not really any sets that have come out recently that a Quarren could fit in. Quote

There are no prominent Quarren characters who could use it, but I am a bit surprised that they did not reuse it for a Mando S2 fishing boat rescue set (which would have given us Bo-Katan earlier!). I expect that it will reappear in the next Jabba’s Palace set that we get. 1 hour ago, QuiggoldsPegLeg said: it would be really weird if they don’t end up using it for Tessek to come with Jabba’s Sail Barge. I’m not sure it would sell the best, though, even if it were to have the enticement of the exclusive Young Leia anniversary minifigure. Is that even much enticement? I doubt any significant number of people are going to buy the set with young leia but wouldn't if it didn't have her. 17 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Darth Jar Jar doesn’t appear to have leg printing. What is this? Marvel? Some of the figures have had inaccurate parts before, but you might be right about DJJ lacking a leg print in the end. They need that printing budget for the much more crucial aspect E-3PO's arm. 19 hours ago, Classic_Spaceman said: It actually might be. Weird. 😐 The only thing I can think of is they were worried a plain black arm wouldn't look robotic/metallic. Like the prop arm part fell off and Anthony Daniels's body glove is showing, or something. But then why not just use gunmetal... or make the entire C-3PO black or gunmetal so it works in other contexts? (Though my first thought whenever a figure in a different color has a black arm is "venom") 15 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: YES. YES. YES.* * translation: I’d buy that in a heartbeat! IIRC we already know the Sail Barge Minifigs, and Tessek is not one of them. The larger a fig list is for this theme, the more likely it's not accurate. That said, I somehow feel like Tessek's unlikely anyway. No particular reason for it, I just don't really see it. Quote
ToaDraco Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) I'm a little late, but Darth Jar Jar looks good. I don't know if he comes with a cape but he could use one. Evil 3-P0 is fine. The head will be useful for people who want a tRoS version. I kinda wish he was completely black, not just his arm so we could have an unofficial 0-0-0 because I don't think LEGO would ever actually make him. As for the discussion on the Quarren head returning, it likely will eventually. We have so many alien head molds that appear very sparingly because they don't belong to major characters. After Noga-ta, it wasn't until the Mos Eisley Cantina MBS that we saw the Ithorian head return(sadly, because I so badly want a ton of different Ithorians), and even the Rodian head appears very rarely. Heck, I hope we see the Gran head return soon and although there's a high likelihood of it coming back for the UCS Sailbarge, I want it in a more affordable set. (Mawhonic Podracer anyone? No seriously, you have no idea how badly I want a sub-line of Podracers. Like one of the racing or stunt themed sub-lines that City usually gets, but for the Boonta Eve Classic that gives us a couple of new Podracers every year and eventually gives us the whole lineup) Edited June 7, 2024 by ToaDraco Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) Thank you for all your answers on the Quarren head mystery. Anywho, the Clone Bros’ outrage at the lack of Clone Sets this summer is starting to surface. Mandr himself is now blaming the Dark Falcon for taking up the Clone Set’s slot. It’s honestly sad to see a sizeable part of the online LSW community feel entitled to have the largest playset out of any faction every year. Anyone have any inverted affiliation character predictions for RTG. It would be funny to see Grand Admiral Ackbar. But I’m not sure whether Lego would go that deep. Yperio_Bricks Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 This or that set taking this or that slot - at the end it always comes down to one's personal preferences. I have come to peace with the fact that Lego will never make the sets i really want, so i don't mind if they try something new and release sets like the Dark Falcon or the modifiable/exchangeable X-Wing and Tie Fighter. Or, in the case of sets that are more likely to be made, that it will take me a very loooong wait until they'll eventually remake sets like Jabba's Palace and the Mos Eisley Cantina as playsets. Those might be fun, but they would shelfwarm harder than any non-gimmick sets this theme's ever released. 9 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Anywho, the Clone Bros’ outrage at the lack of Clone Sets this summer is starting to surface. While I'm not very happy about the figure lineup in the X-wing and TIE set, the set itself is fine if they look serviceable in their non-swapped modes. Always good to have those on shelves. The other two are more of an issue as they aren't really canon in any capacity. Now I'm not super bothered by it, but as the fig lists came out and we saw the number of made-up characters, I got more annoyed. Quote

To be fair, applying wild and wacky ideas isn’t the worst thing in the world and the premise of RTG is pretty great. It’s just that sets at the larger (non-D2C) price points every summer tend to have the most potential as we’ve seen since 2021. Making some smaller sets based on RTG makes sense, but I’m so sure about dedicating this many sets to it. In 2022, we got both the Scythe and AT-TE, last year it was the Ghost, Coruscant Gunship etc. I know the Gunship isn’t perfect, but sets like those are genuinely some of the best we’ve seen in this theme for a long time in terms of builds and minifigures. As much as I really do think this has been a pretty awesome year for Lego Star Wars already, I don’t think it’s reached the same heights that previous years have. Looking at the summer set list, there isn’t much that sounds as exciting as previous summer waves have been (granted, there are some really bright spots like the Peridea set and finally getting Nien Nunb), but that’s my extremely subjective view. Alas the wait for pictures of the August wave continues, year after year Lego is getting better at dragging out reveals, that’s for sure. Edited June 7, 2024 by Kaijumeister Quote

icm Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 To be fair, the dark Falcon only takes up one of three upper-mid slots this year. In 2022 the three slots for big playsets were the Scythe, the AT-TE, and the Justifier. In 2023, they were the Coruscant Guard Gunship, the Ghost, and the Yavin IV base. In 2024, they seem to be the Skeleton Crew ship, the ISD, and the Dark Falcon. Given the recent minifig leaks, I think we can expect that the Skeleton Crew ship is actually happening. It's rumored to have ~1325 pcs at $140, which is a pretty good price in LSW. Hopefully that'll be an interesting new design with fun features and good looks. That and the ISD count towards the "literally anything else" you would rather have than a Dark Falcon. Quote

We got some really good stuff like the Boarding The Tantive IV, Sith Infiltrator, Rex’s Y Wing and the Clone Battle Pack. I usually don’t pick up sets before the August wave because most of the time they’re pretty skippable. But that’s just the appetizer and the summer wave which is usually the main course isn’t really delivering in that regard and a big part of that is that three sets at decent price ranges are going to show nobody has even seen. That’s why I feel like it’s falling flat imo. I’m still extremely excited for the Sarlacc Pit and UCS Sail Barge (my favorite ship finally gets the VIP treatment) but I feel for the summer wave of the 25th anniversary of Lego Star Wars, it’s not what it could have been imo. BrickBob Studpants Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Personally, I think they did an amazing job this year. The anniversary figures are the best celebratory idea they‘ve ever had for any theme in my opinion, with Saw and Cal being my favourites of the bunch And finally a Nien Nunb minifig! The Mando S3 sets are great, the Peridea set has a lot of potential, and I‘m still amused by Jedi Bob and Darth Jar Jar appearing in sets. These are all big Ws in my book! Quote

ArrowBricks Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I’ll never complain about a set being released providing it’s a solid 9/10, above. Hence, I’d be a bit miffed if the Dark Falcon is an objectively bad set, but I’d never complain about its existence over something else, that’s inane. Quote
