This sounds like a really fun idea for a set, I think it fits right in with the vibe of the other 25th anniversary sets.  I'm guessing they'll probably be 6-ish inches tall, so not as big as the buildable R2-D2, but quite a bit larger than that polybag R2 from a number of years back?

That actually sounds like a really fun set! Chopper alone sells it for me.

Obviously printing a small dish piece for Lola wouldn’t be much effort, but the fact that they could do this for young Leia but not bother to represent BD-1 in any form with the anniversary Cal figure really bums me out.

I do already have the UCS R2, and I’m usually not a fan of oversized sets, but the inclusion of Chopper and R2-KT is nice and I’m actually looking forward to buying this, instead of being frustrated at Leia coming in an uninteresting set.

It seems a bit unfair that Cal doesn’t get BD-1. But Leia gets Lola. (I guess Lego knows that Cal will sell by himself.)

I’m not too sold on the idea. TBH. I feel like that 2 Anniversary sets shouldn’t be depicting the same thing at different scales.

But I like the ideas of the add ons. Should make a comedic display.

It’s not really what was expected, but it sort-of fits what we’ve heard. It sounds like it could be a fun set. It almost reminds me of the build-a-droid sections that they would have at Disney.

Considering the set that the figure is in, I do see how it made more sense to LEGO to include young Leia with Lola than, say, Mara Jade, or like some of you suggested, Mara Jade.

I think I'd have preferred a Chopper in scale with the Malak R2 ( or an Accolyte set....) but this still sounds like a fun idea.

Young Leia won't really be much a pull though but it's nice that she supposedly comes with Lola.

Though on the topic of our fig of the year (Young Leia) whilst she is a less interesting and easier to make your own purist version of fig than Nein Numb in some ways she's still a better fig choice for that anniversary figures just because ( as I know had been said) he could really be put in almost any RotJ rebellion set. And unlike Kenobi ( Rip Fortress Inquisitorius £160 playset that's based on Fallen order, Tales of the... And Kenobi) we are very much likely to keep getting RotJ sets. And a continued release of RotJ sets makes me think that Nien was sorta inevitable anyway, I mean it's nice that he's finally gonna exist but I feel like they didn't need to use a special anniversary minifigures slot to make that happen. I mean if we believe our current rumours then he comes in a set based on the movie he's from, not much of a special anniversary figure at all!! It would have been much more interesting for TLG to choose a character from something they'd overwise never touch, like say a book character ( Marchion Ro, Talon Karde, Mara Jade, Ransolom Casterfo, Prince Xizor, Loden Greatstorm and Rokur Gepta come to mind), Comic Character ( say example Doctor Aphra, Sskeer, Jaxxon, Darth Talon, Renn, or Qword) or someone from the 2003 clone wars ( Kuruk, Durge, Tattooed Anakin or armoured Obi-wan), really I go on all day but I won't.

Edit: I’m on the fence about my new profile pic. Is it better/ as good as the BF2 Clone Commando pic or is it worse. I’m open to opinion.

"You probably didn't recognize me because of the red arm"

TBH your old picture made more sense with the username and consistency can be nice so I think your old pic was better but my opinion on it doesn't matter if you prefer your current one, I wouldn't have said anything had you not asked.

Since the set has the same price as the R2 released in March, you can luckily build all four droids at once, and they’re all astromechs, I suppose each is roughly a fourth of that R2’s size  Sounds pretty adorable to me!

What bothers me a bit is the description of L0-LA. It’s said to be a printed dish, which seems a bit too large. I would’ve preferred a printed 1x1 round tile :shrug_oh_well:

So… the only other set this year that @Renown’s 1984 quote could be referring to is the R2 KT set. Right? However that is quite unlikely.

My personal guess: an ISB/ Andor themed set in January.

Renown could you please give us any indication on whether at least one of us has guessed the meaning of your quote correctly?

Might be BB-8’s head or something, like they did for Snowball (Mei’s robot) in the Null Sector Titan? I know it’s not technically a dish, but I’d imagine that’s probably the closest piece.

I am honestly surprised that LEGO put young Leia into the build-a-droid set - Swapping her with Fives would not affect sales of the Tantive IV, but would absolutely increase those of the droids set!

The Minifig list for the R2-KT set is odd (just Stormtroopers and Rebel Fleet Troopers), so there is still a chance that @Renown’s 1984 quote is referring to that set. Either that, or someone in one of the Rebuild the Galaxy sets (do we know everyone who will be in the TIE vs. X-wing set?).

Dot Matrix...

Quite a problem for Jedi games' fans. Especially those, who don't use Bricklink (or are afraid of the prices there)

The scalpers got their hands on most of the BD-1 figures after the ISD pics dropped. The prices have turned astronomical. That’s why I’m thankful that a friend of mine traded me his blue BD unit. (He hadn’t played the games) It will suffice as it is a skin in the game. I’m also thankful that I already have 2015 Endor Leia’s poncho. Cal, when I get him, will feel more complete (well, one of his possible customisation options at least)

Yeah, but then there'd be a whole meltdown about Fives being in a more expensive set and not a minifig scale set, etc etc

Yeah those guys are absolute scum. The day the ISD was revealed all the 'cheap' ones were bought up in bulk. Someone bought 60 of them at £5.88 each in a single transaction. Pretty obvious what the intention was there.

Congratulations! After 'Ahsoka's realise prices on the 2017 Thrawn minifigure also became unacceptable. Yet I managed to acquire my unique Thrawn minifigure via non-bricklink sources (with the black boots being the sole exception, Garmadon's favourite sushi chief was acquired on Bricklink for this purpose). I found Thrawn's head on social media; although it cost ~10$ and had a dent on its left eye (miraculously, the printing was undamaged), it was obviously a bargain compared to any other offer available. Krennic's minifigure was found on a second-hand website; also a bargain, ~16,5$ with damaged head and perfectly new torso; acquiring the Doctor Strange polybag (because of the greying hair) was absolutely no problem.

~40$ for my own perfect Thrawn overall. More than any of my minifigures. Totally worth it.

Did you post any of these to the improving my minifigs discussion under Star Wars?  Would love to see pictures.  I have pieced together quite a few minifigs over the years this way, definitely time consuming to find good deals that coincide with things I am already buying

Wow, that is super scummy behaviour *huh* Artificially increasing scarcity like that is a blight on our hobby. Therefore it‘s always super satisfying whenever TLG destroys these people‘s „business“ by rerealising or remaking a rare set or minifig, like they did with Rex. More of that, please!!

Obviously, but it would be better from a business standpoint though.

Agreed 100%!
Cal (maybe the J:S version?) and BD-1 Stinger Mantis microfighter in 2025/2026? 🤔

Actually, the figures rarely have a real connection to the set- Fives in the Tantive, Malak in the R2 unit, Saw in the sith infiltrator, etc. Nien's from the same movie but a different time and location. Cal on the other hand mostly fits. Point being, they're not primarily in sets that make sense for them to be in, so I think it's perfectly reasonable to have expected a different choice such as Mara Jade, or potentially this legends character called Mara Jade.

I'm worried an R2-KT fig might have been a misunderstanding, seeing as she's buildable in this set. I hope not, but we've had bigger leaker misunderstandings before.

I'm a bricklink seller and I totally agree.

I was more referring to how that set, with its silly little astromech accessories and being less of a display piece despite being a "buildable character set", is probably going to sell to more young kids, and they probably aren't going to know/care about Mara Jade, whereas they might have recently watched Kenobi and will remember Leia and her cute little droid. Aside from this, though, they definitely could still have gotten away with including that other character you mentioned (Mara Jade), or another one that I know many of the older fans would appreciate, Mara Jade.
