LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Also, keep in mind that the average consumer of LEGO has no idea what's coming.  Unless you're following leaks specifically on social media/message boards, most people have no idea what sets are coming later in the year.  Heck, even for some themes that I am interested in, I don't really have any idea of what's coming (Speed Champions, for example).  

I even see comments on Reddit or Instagram all the time from people that follow or post a lot about "Wait, what's coming?" and that's people who are specifically engaging with LEGO fan content on social media still not having any idea what sets are coming later.

Point being, the reveals being drip-fed like this instead of all at once are probably a mix of 

a) minimizing the opportunity for knockoffs to copy the sets

b) building hype among the average consumer that isn't following leaks, as opposed to seeing everything dumped all at once

I miss the days when Lego would drop pictures of the whole wave at once smh, I feel like since 2020 they've started to do this kind of stuff and it's annoying me, IMO if you release pictures of the upcoming wave all together then more people will know about it and be excited since it's possible some people might miss seeing the other sets being revealed after they've seen the first few

I was just about to ask... I feel like I haven't seen bootlegs in ages. Ebay's certainly gotten better about it too.

Oh yeah. As other knockoff companies "go legit", new ones slink out of the shadows to take their places. In the US, not a huge deal. But in some other markets, either where official sets are tougher to get ahold of as easily, or knockoffs are based anyway, they can take a pretty big slice out of the profits.

IIRC part of the benefit of Lego's attempts to break into the chinese market was one of the big Lepin facilities finally getting raided by the chinese government. I remember seeing the pictures a few years ago and friends of mine who knew I was into lego kept showing me them.

I see a lot of knock-offs in ads from Temu and the like (ads I've had on Eurobricks even!), so I think it's more of a migration away from eBay than them just disappearing.

^ This. They've moved onto the big Chinese marketplaces (Temu, Wish, Aliexpress) but they haven't gone away.

Late to the party, but wow Dark Falcon looks great. Won't be getting as I have no room or budget for this but it really turned out well. I hope those who can get it love it! X-Wing mash-up with TIE is cool as well. I really like both ships. Will not be getting for similar reasons but overall very pleased. 

Am saving for Sail Barge, Jedi Bob Fighter, and the Saarlac Pit set.

Okay. I'm not familiar with them or their validity as a leaker but regardless, in what way does that statement insinuate it's not a new mold? They just said it's disappointing, not that it isn't new. I have a really hard time believing it's not a new mold when there is not a single helmet mold currently in production that would come remotely close to being like Enoch's. I also haven't payed close attention to this forum in the past several months since it's just been a circle of the same talking points and rampent meaningless speculation without new reveals so I'm sure I might have missed this being discussed already.

I can't believe they've officially shown and have the Dark Falcon and X-Wing/TIE set available to preorder and yet we still haven't had a single glimpse at Jedi Bob's Starfighter, aka the set featuring the main character of the new show and his flagship vehicle... Hopefully it won't be much longer.

He said something along the lines of "they had to cut corners somewhere", which implies to me that it's not a new mold, since the figure doesn't need arm printing  or really need dual-molding, and a printed Kama is more or less to be expected.

The Dark Falcon looks great. But $240 CAD is really rough. My wallet isn’t going to be doing so hot, especially with the Sail Barge coming out in the fall. I’ll probably consider buying it next May the 4th, depending how it compares to other stuff I’d want.

He also mentioned that the budget kind of went on the other figures. Aren’t we getting a new Thrawn, Ahsoka all in white and A new Ezra.

Enochs helmet was always going to be a hard one to do right. My expectation is low to avoid disappointment

@ToaDraco Please see above re Enoch not getting a new mould. This was already quoted by someone else in response to your query but I think you must not have seen it.

It‘s interesting, because SW is one of the few themes where this happens regularly. For most other themes, pictures of the entire wave still drop all at once (the other current example being Marvel with the 4+ Hulk set and the stilling missing Helicarrier)  They must have marketing reasons for this strategy as I doubt they do it on a whim

Personally, I don‘t mind too much but I have to admit it‘s kinda getting annoying now. At least we should see the remaining sets on Monday at the latest!

The buildable C3 P0 leaked. Damn, it actually looks pretty good. Better than last year’s Chewie. But that’s not hard. Looks good, but just not for me so I will not be buying it.

Hopefully a remake of the 2008 Grievous figure is also in the cards at some point! That model could be improved so much with all the pieces that didn‘t exist back in the day.

Do we think he might could with an alternative red arm? Though I guess some people wouldn't recognise him because of the red arm. It's not a set I'd get either way but I like it.

It does show that aren't any hard rules for where they're putting the anniversary figs or for the anniversary figs in general.

- Only in Original trilogy sets? Nope because of the sith infiltrator and droid factory.

- Only in Skywalker saga* sets? No because the droid factory includes multiple droids not seen in any of the episodes 1-9

- Only in sets from story's that don't feature the anniversary character included? Nope because of Nein Numb in a RotJ set ( supposedly)

- Only in sets that include other minifigs anyway? Nah look at the Artoo sets ( Astromech figures aren't minifigs and even if you count them none are rumoured for the droid factory )

- Only in green lantern sets? Nope none of the known or rumoured figs or sets involve any members of the green lantern corps or related material??!?!!!

- Only in sets where the anniversary figure present doesn't make sense to be there? No because though in the game they stick to mostly terrestrial bases Cal infiltrating an ISD makes perfect sense.

- Only including characters Lego was Unlikely to make otherwise? Nope! I can see them not planning any JFO/JS sets nor any RO, KotOR, Kenobi sets! But Clone wars and RotJ ! I mean Fives wasn't that likely to show up elsewhere as most of the clone wars sets they're making at the moment are more generic but Nein Numb could've been in any RotJ Starfighter or rebel set! (And while Fives is cool if I could've pick any CW character I'd have gone Talzin).

- Only existing parts? Nope Malak's jaw is new. (As are some fabric part on the others but they don't really count)

- Only individual Characters? Nope Young Leia ( thankfully) comes with Lola ( and yet Cal is missing BD-1 despite him being an existing part )

- All sets based on not-new materials will have one? Nah, we were a bit optimistic to think that anyway but it was a hope a little while back.

- Only Sith? No all bar Malak aren't Sith! 

- Only actual minifigs? Nope KT is said to be coming as she's an astromech ( but there is still a lot of confusion about her figure and it's set, I hope she is still getting a figure and it wasn't a miscommunication of the droid factory set).

*= The Skywalker Saga branding kinda annoys me as it relates Disneys best 2 star wars movies as being less important.

This one hurts too much. I notice you’re becoming more and more insane with each day that passes. Can’t wait for the 30th LSW Anniversary Larfleeze Figure.

It should have been Mara Jade!!!! I will hold a grudge against Lego until the day I die for choosing the most boring possible variant of a character we already have instead of Mara.

I don‘t get why they should‘ve picked a Legends character that will never ever be relevant again  Darth Malak at least can easily be made canon again once they delve into that era. Mara on the other hand cannot be reintroduced into canon unless they change pretty much everything about her, except for the design and character traits maybe 

Also, it‘d be kinda weird to celebrate 25 years of LSW with a character who hasn‘t been relevant in 25 years  …Yeah yeah, get your pitchforks ready, I‘m not afraid of you!!

3-P0 looks quite good. I wish it came with an anniversary figure though, to make it more enticing. 

Back to the Uglies set, I really like the X-Wing but that TIE... the cockpit just looks awful. It's not remotely ball-shaped. I do appreciate that they integrated both the red tips for the blasters with green spring-loaded shooters and the wings are good because they're the same as the last one. L3-G0 is the only interesting figure here and overall the set is an easy skip as I have the last X-Wing and TIE and I really don't need more in my collection.

Still waiting(impatiently) for the Jedi Bob's Starfighter and the Battle of Peridea sets to leak...

Love that C-3PO, it'll look great next to the new R2.

No anniversary figure was expected (the one and only consistency between which sets do and don't get figures is that none of them are 18+ sets), but hopefully this'll come with the high quality UCS Landspeeder C-3PO minifigure, since Chewbacca last year did come with a Chewie minifig.

C-3P0 looks great. I can see what they're trying to do with C-3P0 and Chewie introducing this line of large buildable figures. It's just not really appealling with the entry-pirce point. $200 and $150 is a lot to start a new collection. The helmets and dioramas are a little easier to stomach. I like these big figures but don't think I'll collect them with the cost.

It’s hard to see, but it looks like the Threepio set image shows 1138 pieces. Which both a) isn’t great for ppp obviously and b) seems like an intentionally fun Star Wars /Lucas callback

Was this to what Renown was referring? I mean, probably not, but it’s a nice thought.
