LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

…I never thought “my minifig isn’t sexy anymore” would be an actual discussion point, but here we are  Sigh.

The set itself looks great!  Since there’s a kitchen, is there still hope for the GOAT to return? By that I mean the trans-green frog  (I know it was included in 2003’s Jabba’s Palace and in neither of the previous two Sailbarges, but still, I want it back!)

Excited to see more and may be too early to judge, but it feels small for $500-550 - but I guess that's the Star Wars tax for ya.

From what it looks like, Max Rebo and Jabba are the exact same as the 2013 versions?

Even more and better pictures have leaked! The interior looks very spacious! No frog tho

Yeah, they seem very similar if not identical. Jabba was said to feature new pieces the entire time, and yet he appears unchanged  I don’t mind though. The previous one can’t be improved much anyway!

Well, the minifigures are definitely a huge let down, but the build looks phenomenal. I’m still super glad it exists, and I’ll still be purchasing it day one, as it is my dream Lego set. I can’t wait to set up a Pit of Carkoon display (even if it might be a few more years until I have the display room for it).

Eh, not about being "sexy", just about being accurate. Plenty of figures in city sets have swimsuits so it shouldn't really be an issue.

But yeah gimme the trans green phrog.

Also just seen the full pictures, kinda disappointed by the name on the UCS plaque but that's not the biggest issue I have with the set (that award goes to be the various problems with the minifigures). The build itself looks great.

Just compared with the 2012/2013 one - it looks like the prints are different (the wrinkle marks mostly) but the mould is the same (at least from eyeballing it). Also noticed that he does not feature that tattoo on his left arm anymore.

I remember that a few years ago there was even talk of not marketing this version of Leila anymore. Well, it seems that washing the name, canceling the curves and covering the hips is the price to pay to get updated versions…

Ps every time we talk about censorship someone complains because we want sexy minifigures. It's not about minifigurephilia, but just useless censorship at the expense of accuracy lol

Yay, another thing to add to the list of why the minifigures in this set should have been so much better. (Edit: didn't realise we haven't seen his right arm yet so it's still up in the air- he probably does have it)

Ok that's good they fixed it.  It was on the wrong on arm on the original one I just realized.

We have it all, upgrades, downgrades, and minifigs that stayed the same (just grades? ). My personal highlights are definitely Wooof, Vizam, Kithaba, R2 with his hot chocolate, and Leia. Love the new hairpiece!

But yeah we technically don't know yet whether the new one will- since we haven't seen his right arm yet he hopefully does have it. I don't see why he wouldn't, but then I also don't see why they made a lot of the decisions they have with the minifigures in this set.

 

Also I was wrong about Kithaba having yellow eyes: it was just the filter on the leaked image that made them look yellow. However, the white part is weirdly large so his face still doesn't look great. Love that he has the new bandana piece though.

Good point! The only picture where we can sort of see his right arm is pretty blurry when you zoom in, so it’s hard to make out. I thought someone had seen his right arm on a better picture, but good to hear he might still have the tattoo!  As I said, would be silly considering they clearly know about it!

Maybe the arms got taken off and swapped at some point? Mine definitely has it on his right arm and came like that out of the sealed box.

Is this a UCS or MBS for that price those figure selections are bad. I’d expect for a premium product to be all new prints no reuses and you know the skiff set is purely to go along with this so to get the full thing is more money I feel like Lego is taking the **** with this. For those who like it and love it fair play to you but I thought it was supposed to be bigger as well from the big leak last year? Has it been downgraded like the medieval town square set. 

Lego is too expensive now I wouldn’t even pay half of what the rrp is. Where do people get the money to afford these sets

Ok there's a 32 second "lifestyle" video of a guy putting the barge together. The ones I've seen so far are pretty low quality so still can't make out small details like the tattoo.

Woah, i like it. I don’t 500€ like it, but still. Great shapes on that ship. 
The henchmen Wooof and Vizam are great. But they should have given us a Jabba baddie with Sarlac pit as well. 
And although the barge doesn’t look that much bigger as the last one, it probably is. 
i hope we’ll get a jabbas palace as well. With the rest of the Max Rebo band and a Klaatu wearing the same helmet as wooof.

With this video I get a better view of the set and I like it alot. Feels like a new Cantina-Typ of Set arrived with all this rooms in the Sail Barge.

I wanted to know if this price is as outlandish as it seems. So, I did the math! While prices per piece for most UCS Star Wars sets are outlandish sometimes, the price per gram is not too horrific. Higher, sure, but around one or two cents per gram higher. It's too late for me in the evening to start comparing if the price per gram is around 20% higher for licnsed themes as New Elementary said "we should expect to pay roughly 20% more for a licensed set than for a comparable non-licensed set".

 

Jabba's sail barge: 549€ - 3942 pcs (13,9 cents per piece - unknown cents per gram)

UCS AT-AT: 849€ - 6785 pcs (12,5 cents per piece - 7,9 cents per gram)

UCS Razor Crest: 599€ - 6171 pcs (9,7 cents per piece - 7,4 cents per gram)

Lion Knight's Castle: 399€ - 4514 pcs (8,9 cents per piece - 6,6 cents per gram)

Lets start the rant:

Gamorean - missing dualmolded legs to see hius green legs - looking at my 6" Hasbro figure, the legs are pretty prominent - so another fail with the dualmolded needed but not used

Bib - unacceptable reuse of the fat mold - lazy, missing cape (coz cloth is very expensive nowadays for lego)

Kithaba - we already had him (sw0397), minimum upgrade, but OK - the headpiece is more accurate. Yet missing doublemolded legs.

Vizam - not totally bad, could also use doublemold legs and the headpiece is not a bad choice if they dont want to make a new mold

Wooof - OKish but should have a leg print of that wool skirt

Leia - unacceptable, doublemolds shorts used for political reasons only, missing the jewelry on the hands and printed boots (i display mine on studs, i immediately took her off the studs due to the legs cracking issues as this version will skyrocket in price)

3PO - should have been have been the one from UCS landspeeder and the statue as thats the most correct one (personally dont have him yet, landspeeder was not interesting enough to purchase, statue the same)

R2 - ok, another to the pile of R2s

Max - ok, reused, dont see a bally print on the picture, dont really care since i have 2pcs and he is not really an usable figure

Salacious B. Crumb - ok mold, but terrible eyes

Jabba - i dont really see what is different, but i own 2 pcs of the previous figure which was already perfect

So for me like 2 new usable figures and they still not perfect

btw Barada (the other klatoonian similar to Kithaba which is not in this set) seems to wear similar pants as Han in Ep4 - blue pants with red stripe and black boots - could be a new piece that would be reused for proper Ep4 Han

 

For the built - i need to see more detailed pictures, but it seems to be too small. Its even missing the stairs to the upper deck


So for now it seems a pass for me for the day 1 purchase, not even the free saber could save this (i dont know who wants to fork 100eur for a lightsaber set which can be built out of own bricks when for about 130 you can have the actual metal functional replica with glow, sounds, that can be used to battle ...)

This is like a 300eur set

I probably need only Vizam, Woof and Kithabas headpiece - everything else is a crap in this set.

My wife will be glad :D - the only person who will be celebrating this set in my household.

Seems even the build is not good enough and i have to resort to simply build my own - bigger barge, i thought they will save me some time on thinking how to construct my own MOC, but if i want a perfect barge for my Tatooine diorama, ill have to do it myself ...

Yeah think I agree with everything you say about the figures here. Just so many flaws that really shouldn't be present in any set, nevermind an 18+ one.

I'm still interested in the vehicle itself if I can get a good price, and a few of the figures.
