And it's made from good new brown plastic, so you don't have to worry about the dreaded pre-2019 brittle brown like if you bought bricklink parts.

Depends on your definition of "good." I still have brown break more than any other color. It's better than it was, but I wouldn't call it "good" yet myself.

R7 head leaked on reddit. Lego put it in someone's Battle Bus set.

Wow. I have missing pieces in almost every new Lego set I get, something that never used to happen to me before. But getting a piece that hasn't been released yet is a new one.

There's one other instance, namely a printed tile from the NES set that was included in someone's Monkie Kid set  And in a similar instance, someone had ordered a replacement torso on pick a brick and instead got Bucky's torso from the first Marvel CMF series! I think. Or was it just a picture of the torso on the inventory sheet you receive with each PAB order? Something like that.

Another one that happened recently is that they accidentally sent the UCS Hogwarts Express set to someone who ordered the Lion Knights Castle, before the set had even had a single leaked image.

Imagine a complete Cloud City model with a roof, cut in two halves. Then take only one half and that will be the final LEGO model. From the front it will be UCS like display piece, from the back you will see the interiors (side by side/below each other) and it will be more like MBS.

But the lower portion of cloud city makes it pretty much impossible to have a set up to lego's stability standards, no? And without the spike and "floating" look you lose 90% of what makes cloud city's exterior iconic.

Somewhat unrelated and probably too far off topic, but I'd love if the midi scale subline did a microscale cloud city (complete with tiny Falcon, cloud car(s), and some clouds).

Can't believe we got R7 in fortnite before lego mara jade.

Very excited to finally download the game so I can play as my favorite character, limbless Ahsoka's astromech droid.

How does this even happen? I feel like with the way lego does things, if the R7 head made it into a set in place of another element, it feels like we'd hear about a whole batch of battle buses with that issue. I can't figure out how a single one would manage to find it's way into another set's bag, since one is printed and the other isn't.

They actually sent that to several people when the castle released, all in New Zealand. Australian customers got the correct set, despite orders for both countries being shipped from the same warehouse in Australia.

Yeah idk how the system works for packing sets but I have had some weird substitutions myself in the past. E.g. in my Jedi and Clones battle pack back in 2018 I was missing a 3x3 wedge plate but in its place I had a 2x4 sand green tile.

Well seems like it is the same part, so maybe one hit the ground and an employee just threw it back into a box without looking which one. Still strange but not impossible to happen it seems.

Same. Nowhere near enough figures, the figures which are present have some pretty big issues, and even if it had more figures it'd still cost a good 100 more than it should.

A few months ago I was probably the most excited about it being a UCS set out of anyone but now it just feels like they really fumbled the opportunity to make it truly great.

Sail Barge should've had like 20 figures at minimum, Skiff set shouldn't have been separated, but included (and doubled) along with the Sarlacc. Maybe shave some parts off the Sarlacc and Skiffs, but yeah, the minifig selection is my biggest gripe.

Also, I really think Leia needed her pixie boots. Even as a wraparound print would've been fine.

Lego's QC has slipped to a remarkable degree. I haven't had any problems, thankfully, but I'm constantly reading these horror stories.

On the other hand, unreleased R7 is a nice surprise. Still would be better for QC to clutch up a bit.

Yeah, I've been mostly unscathed, but I'll add mine. Aside from store return theft, Kylo Ren's 2019 shuttle came with rubber bands inside the mini cardboard box rather than the capes, and Rivendell had a color swapped 1x2 plate. All that is besides the general decrease in quality especially when it comes to tiles...

I never had problems with quality until the last year and a half.  I have had at least three or four times where I reached out to Lego for replacement parts due to quality issues or missing pieces, never had to do that in the past.   The higher prices have also led me to not be willing to look over mistakes as quickly.  I think if I had a missing part and felt I had a good deal on the set I would just grab a spare part, but with the higher prices I’m not willing to let the quality issues go.

I had several issues since I came back to the hobby in 1015 with the Simpsons house. My Simpsons house had 1 brown plate missing and printing mistakes on Homer´s head (no colour below the nose) and Ned´s head (the brown printed on his beard was also all over his lower lip)... I head a Hermione Hair piece with several grey staines in the plastic. The printing on the dome in my buildable R2D2 Polybag was completely off... Those were the worst from regular sets... In general there were a lot of printing issues. The worst stuff came probably from cmfs. I got a lobster loving Batman unable to stand thanks to complete loose hips. There were German DFB soccer players with prints smeared over the whole torso...

Quality issues are the downside of Lego's quasi-monopoly. Without real competitors there is no incentive for Lego to up the quality of their product when people pay any price anyway. What i find very annoying are the injection mould marks becoming bigger and that they are visible in prominent places.

This is one on my biggest issue with recent Lego trends as well (it's probably my #2, after cost). Having a bunch of white acne all over these sets just looks super cheap. Sure, sometimes you can spin the pieces to cover it up, or place a tile on top  so it's not noticeable, but that's not an option in a lot of cases. Even some tiles (especially the ingot/bar ones) have marks right on top!

I never had a single issue until 2020. Since then, every 20th set has had missing pieces or pieces with some issues.
I got a scratched Anakin's interceptor cockpit (2020) because they mixed it with other parts in the bag, causing it to get scratched. They sent a replacement, which somehow was even more scratched.
The Speed Champions James Bond car was missing a random piece.
The Mandalorian battle pack and AAT came with weird helmet related stuff, and I felt bad about replacing the 332nd helmet because at the time people were lying and saying theirs were scratched too, just to get an extra helmet.
The Gonk droid part was missing from my Bad Batch Shuttle, but I didn't care about it and never asked for a replacement part.

To be fair, they replaced everything for free and their customer service was excellent. But it’s really frustrating.

It‘s not a 2024 set, but I have to rant about it before I explode :damn: The 2023 UCS X-Wing is the worst piece of **** set they have ever designed. I‘ve been trying to fix this horribly designed monster for 3 hours and I‘m going mad. The stand keeps falling apart, the side panels are so flimsily attached they keep falling off, the mechanism doesn‘t work because the wings are too heavy, and the slopes on the stand keep falling off because the hole where it‘s attached is just too deep. What on Earth happened here?! The 2013 model never had such issues!

I hate this pile of rubbish now more than the 2020 Mickey and Minnie figures.

That sounds really bad. I've noticed a lot of fragility in recent models.

Appreciating the QC testimonials, guys. It's unacceptable to go through so many problems when they charge premium prices.

Mega used to be notorious for QC issues, but I caved and started a Halo collection right around Infinite's release. Their QC has markedly improved: clear instructions, no missing parts, sturdy construction. Lego needs to maintain superiority if they want to stay on top. Only the best is good enough.

I see people say this a lot and I have the UCS X-wing however I haven't really noticed any of these stability issues, to be fair though I just keep mine on a shelf and don't touch it. perhaps I'll give mine a good swoosh and see what happens.

As did I. Touched it today when I was rearranging things, and all hell broke loose :laugh_hard: The main issue is still the stand. I double-checked everything and it makes no sense for the slope and reverse-slope pieces to be there since the hole in the model is so deep, the weight of the entire thing rests on those two pieces, and of course they fly off :wall: The wing issue is also still there.

That makes sense, I just always imagined they'd be more automated than that at this point.

I swear not only is their QC much worse, but their customer service is a lot worse too-

I have a missing or misprinted piece in pretty much every other set I buy. It's insane. At this point if I have a spare in my collection I don't have the energy to contact lego each time- I know, I know, I should- but I did for the Tantive Hallway set because it was especially egregious- misprinted stormtrooper head, and no lightsaber blade, which would have been brutal if I was a kid buying the set. I let lego know about it, basically saying "Hey, I get things happen sometimes, but I've been having significantly more QC issues at the same time that you've been increasing prices.". Their response was to pretty much completely ignore the fact that I was missing pieces and just say "We understand our prices have increased, but that's to keep such a high quality standard" which... what? It feels like an AI trained to respond to any comment about price increases because the majority of my complaint was about their QC and their response was "our prices are high because our QC is good".

I honestly have only really been missing very small, common parts in my sets recently. So the QC issues are there, it just doesn’t ruin the set for me.

I really don’t get why people are expecting a massive amount of ROTS sets in 2025. None of the other PT movies have gotten sets specifically for their 20th anniversaries.

I feel like if you want Cloud City to interact with minifigures in any way, it’s not going to be a display piece on the outside. Mainly because it is impossible for it to be structurally sound with the spike at the bottom at anything but very small scale. A flat disk without the spike at the bottom would look nothing like cloud city’s exterior, and also be a huge waste of pieces for a play set.

I think it could be handled similarly to Gringotts Bank set from HP.

This is correct. However, I think the current climate involves celebrating anniversaries more than an in the past.

ROTS has so many options, I wonder if they’ve decided to celebrate both to accommodate as much as they can. For example, an ARC-170 is a great way in to a 20th celebration (because 20th celebrations have not been celebrated in the past), than a 25th anniversary because there are so many better, more iconic options out there.

Look, I wouldn’t expect a ton of stuff in the summer but I still think there’s potential for a few more (excluding Plo Koon’s).

After all, the vast majority love the movie.
