Maul is next year’s mech

That's a bit of a bummer, honestly. We already had a cheap Maul with the Duel on Mandalore set recently, and he's currently on shelves in the Sith Infiltrator. Easy skip for a lot of AFOLs, might be tempting to kids.

I hope it’s the Maul from the Sith Infiltrator

Holy cow. I might get it now. I hope the figure has TCW gauntlets.

Considering that even Ahsoka did not get arm printing (the diamond-cutout sleeves are a significant part of her late-TCW outfit!), I doubt that we will get any for Plo Koon, unfortunately. 🫤

Only things they could possibly do are:

Y-Wing

V-19 Torrent

Gunship (Ball turret loadout) (actually I wouldn’t mind that especially if it came with a good complement of troopers)

These are the most likely, IMO - I am thinking either a yellow Republic Y-wing (Plo appeared in the Malevolence arc), a P1 Plo’s Bros LAAT/i (though LEGO has been going with P2 for notable commanders lately), or maybe a V-19 (not the most iconic ship, but a cool one with a unique design - And we only ever got it once!).

Probably a TPM reuse, but I would love to see a new TCW version (Grievous-style legs), one of his Rebels “Old Master” designs, or his Crimson Dawn design from Solo

A new Clone Pilot is to be released that is not the Clone Commander as per the UCS Gunsip debacle.

I just saw the actual image from Max’s story - It definitely seems to confirm that we are getting a second Clone Pilot variant in 2025, and that it will be a standard P1.

Also, Max’s comments on the ARC-170:
“I think it looks good. It got a bit smaller during the design process and the last version still might be more detailed. But I think it is a good play set for what it is. The clone pilots have printed legs, unfortunately not dual-molded. The boxart features Cato Neimoidia and Plo Koon’s Starfighter.”

I am personally OK with the pilots not having dual-moulded legs, since their boots do not extend up the legs far enough for it to be warranted IMO; a somewhat smaller ship is also fine (as long as the design does not suffer for it), as the previous version seemed oversized to me.
Cato Neimoidia on the box art means that we are getting Jag, but I do worry that we will not end up getting Odd Ball as well (not that content and box art have always aligned properly in the past, of course!); if we are getting both, then the Battle of Coruscant would have been a better setting. Plo’s JSF is an amusingly dark inclusion, but Ahsoka’s Eta-2 would have made more sense if LEGO wanted to reflect sets that are actually on shelves - Could we be getting a full-size Plo’s JSF in 2HY 2025 or 1HY 2026? 🤔

The uncertainty over Enoch makes me think that the leaker is looking at a blurry pic of the set

If this would be the case, leaker would guess Enoch, because he is the only white figure who can be in this set except stormtroopers plus his helmet is actually golden,so it’s pretty easy to spot

From Instagram - reliable source Maxbautde.

Plo Koon’s JSF = Microfighter.

Night Trooper BP = small patrol gunship; still not clear if Enoch is in this set.

Max describes the summer wave as “fans are eating good next summer”.

Alright, so I'll probably get Plo's fighter then. Funny that we're getting two blue+white republic starfighter microfighters in a row when neither are exactly A-tier ships (and that Plo is our first jedi starfighter microfighter, before any ETA-2 or Obi-wan's Delta-7). But at the end of the day I respect it it's a nice cheap way to get a character who's been missing a long time, and $13 little ship with jedi is a fun gift for kids.

As someone who still doesn't like the new Stormtroopers

You have to let this one go, man. They're here to stay. It's been the main helmet type for 5 years- at this point changing back is going to mess up a TON of collections.

The closest thing to a battle pack they're in is that anniversary set, which is still $40 for 3. A bona-fide battle pack would be nice.

Too many Stormies, IMO; 1x Stormtrooper, 1x Imperial officer (black uniform, poncho print), 2x Security Trooper (helmet and armour) would be better for a Ferrix riot BP.

I mean, they are the main army unit of the empire, I'd prefer one of them over an officer.

I'm not sure what you're saying exactly, but I think it would make a lot of sense for a blurry leaked photo to make someone uncertain whether or not Enoch is present. With potato quality it could be hard to tell if it's enoch's helmet or just a nighttrooper with the grey face and some gold kintsugi on the helmet.

So the ARC is smaller and less detailed than the last rendition. Sigh.

Why are the Lego Star Wars playset designers so amateur compared to Friends and Speed Champions designers making sets for the same age range? Are they not allowed to make good-looking sets? It’s a night and day difference in the quality between these themes.

OK, I think I figured it out - Plo’s Bros LAAT/i with spotlight attachments!
This gunship was flown by a standard P1 pilot during the rescue on Lola Sayu; while the Clones in the Citadel arc were still wearing P1 armour, Anakin/Obi-Wan/Ahsoka had already transitioned to their late-TCW outfits, so we could see a reuse of either (or both) of the Minifigs from Ahsoka’s Eta-2 in the set. This also would solve the question of why LEGO would make an exclusive Minifig with a new head mould just for a Microfighter, and it would be an easy way to get our first Crab Droid (as the gunships rescue the rescue team after they are surrounded by Crab Droids!).
A Plo’s Bros gunship would have an entirely different colour-scheme to the Coruscant Guard one already on shelves (standard LAAT/i, but with dark blue in place of dark red), so it would not really cannibalise sales (especially since everyone who wanted the current gunship has probably already gotten it). I just hope that if this is the case, the design is better than the current one! 😬

Two $140+ gunships on the market at the same time is a little to much for me to believe. They should’ve retired the hideous CGG by now anyways. Your proposal would make for an awesome set though.

If the image is potato-quality, it may not be obvious that one of the Minifigs has a gold faceplate (especially since there are regular Night Troopers with a lot of gold in their design, or a differently-coloured faceplate). Enoch is possible - I was just saying that DDTs are ruled out.

Yeah, I actually use the familyguy helmets only on custom spacetroopers, which have a small hardsuit following the standard stormtrooper design.

For the actual stormtrooper corps I use either the old helmets or 3rd party customs.

Max was asked if the second Andor set is the Fondor, to which he said “Unfortunately it is not”. TIE Avenger is looking more likely now (which I am fine with, as it is more of a direct S2 tie-in; we can get the Fondor in 2026).

I usually just Bricklink the old helmets to replace the new ones I get, using them for spacetroopers is a good idea though.

The one problem I’d have with that is that there are so many characters in that scene that it will be frustrating whoever they omit.

Plo, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Anakin, Cody, Rex, Tarkin, Wolffe, Wolfpack Troopers and Clone pilots.

Not comparable. Speed champions are (almost) all 8-stud wide vehicles, there’s no other “niche” the speed champions market has to fill. In addition, each car is only $27, and F1 is only covering the first half of the year. If LSW only sold gunships, this comparison would make sense.

Obviously! I could see the lineup being Plo (reuse), Ahsoka/Anakin (reuse), P1 Wolffe, P1 Clone Pilot, P1 Wolfpack Trooper, and maybe Obi-Wan (as he can be reused for RotS, and hopefully a new gunship will be larger than the Coruscant Guard one!).

Absolutely no idea, but they are an odd and long-overdue exclusion on LEGO’s part!
Maybe if we ever get sets based on the Jedi games, they can appear alongside Flametroopers and stun baton Scout Troopers in a battle pack!

If this comes to pass, it would be… interesting to see the reaction to the fact that the next gunship would be blue, meaning that despite technically getting multiple gunships since 2013, none of them have been system-scaled with the regular color scheme. I can’t tell if LEGO is more likely to do something like this or not.

As someone who didn’t have much interest in a full-sized starfighter but who doesn’t have Plo Koon, I am happy that it’s a microfighter.

I know Tallie Lintra (the A-wing pilot from TLJ) remained exclusive to the microfighter, as did Theron Nett (X-wing pilot) and the updated version of the Skyhopper Pilot. Given that Plo will likely use a new mold, though, he may appear elsewhere.

ACTUALLY, I’m pretty sure that the new mold for Plo Koon will be used for Ithia Paan for a set based on the Khofar battle from The Acolyte. My source is my desire to get non-Young Jedi Adventures High Republic-era Jedi robes. Totally reliable, 100%.

I didn’t love The Acolyte, but I thought it was fairly enjoyable, at least some characters. Sol is one of my favorite Jedi of all time even though I thought several characters were unbearable. Sol and Jecki were the highlights, and Qimir was pretty good. All that to say, while it wasn’t my favorite piece of Star Wars media, I’d be down for a set or two for sure. I doubt it will happen though

I concur. I was excited to add a new JSF to Anakin and Obi Wan's.

Probably a new Phase I pilot, with the appropriate changes (finally a finless helmet!?), if not that, then they probably just mean we're getting Odd Ball from ROTS, since Jag and at least two others have already been produced.

I don't think Plo being in a microfighter guarantees him a spot elsewhere. And the Lola Sayu arc was over a decade ago. That's ancient history as far as the shows go.

The thing is, if lego agreed with you guy that they were family guy and bad, they would have gone back to the old design- just like they got rid of the rebel pilot helmet design they introduced within a year of the stormtrooper one. It's been more than 5 years since the new helmet was introduced, meaning the old mold is likely literally gone. It would cost a new mold to bring it back, at which point it'd make more sense to just create a third design.

It's really annoying to see this pop up every single time a stormtrooper appears somewhere. The 2014 style helmets are gone and not returning and at this point you need to accept it.

For Afols, sure, but most kids aren't army-building $55 sets (or $40 lego.shop exclusives). It'll have been 8 years since the last battlepack with standard stormtroopers in 2025, I think it makes sense to put one out there.

Sure, but if anything that makes them MORE generalized and important to have in battle packs. (I liked the Thrawn Trilogy era idea that stormtroopers were crack troops and the imperial army mostly consisted of army troopers, but Andor is the only project to actually show that on screen. Everything else has stormtroopers as the generic grunts)

I don't know. That description sounds good, but the last starfighter was $60 in 2010, or $86 today just off inflation (so realistically $90-100 with the other lego pricing increases). The leaked one, which IIRC has the same number of figs, is $70, right? Between being $16 less just adjusting for inflation, lego's own price increases on top of that, and the fact that sets in general trend to be more detailed but smaller, I feel like logically it's got to be significantly smaller.

3 hours ago, Classic_Spaceman said:

I almost wonder if it'll be TIE Avenger VS A-wing or something. Not that we have any indication of them specifically showing up, but lego loves their two-packs, and given how small they already appear to be making the U-wing, they could probably have bundled the two together for that same $110 price.

A Plo's Bros gunship is easy to convert into a normal one, though, since the only difference (beyond the nose art) is that dark red has been swapped to dark blue; the parts that would be used are most likely available in dark red, so it is easier to change to a standard LAAT/i. I just hope that the design is more like the 2013 version and not the terrible 2023 one!

It would be weird for LEGO to make a new head mould and new torso/leg prints just for a Microfighter (especially when Anakin is right there!), so I expect that we will see the Minifig reused in a larger set. As for the age of the TCW arc, RotS (for which we are getting an ARC-170) was two decades ago, so age is not really relevant to Star Wars content! Additionally, Clone fans would jump at the chance to get an iconic gunship and some Wolfpack Troopers (and Wolffe, ideally)!

As a fellow Hasbro Disciple, while Hasbro is known to cut corners at times, it does at least try to keep up with the latest Star Wars content. Figures are well detailed, but horribly overpriced (which I think is a license thing, tbh), which is where the bulk of the fanbase's vitriol comes from. Also, they tend to lock desirable figures (i.e. army builders like the Legends 187th) behind Pulse or a two pack.

"As far as the shows go." ROTS is one of the Saga films, sets based off those will always be expected. The animated shows, not so much.

The entire set is based on a canon design, though. ROTS gunship is the same as the AOTC gunship. Besides, we've gotten the Legends 187th only two years ago. An update to the old 2005 clone pilots would be kind of cool. I'd agree that the new pilot being Hasbro's would be silly, but the alternative is a classic AOTC gunship, with the usual suspects complementing it.

For Afols, sure, but most kids aren't army-building $55 sets (or $40 lego.shop exclusives). It'll have been 8 years since the last battlepack with standard stormtroopers in 2025, I think it makes sense to put one out there.

If we got more than a couple of battle packs per year (and they were ~$15 again!), I would be fine with a Stormtrooper pack; as it is, I want less common Trooper variants, officers/technicians, and new Clone units! The problem is not that Stormtroopers do not warrant a battle pack, but that if we get a Stormtrooper battle pack, it means that we are not getting something new.

I almost wonder if it'll be TIE Avenger VS A-wing or something. Not that we have any indication of them specifically showing up, but lego loves their two-packs, and given how small they already appear to be making the U-wing, they could probably have bundled the two together for that same $110 price.

The TIE Avenger is most likely a prototype, so I would rather not see it bundled with a generic fighter like an A-wing (I want an A-wing separately!); I can see the TIE Avenger (if we do get it) being marketed as a rival/enemy ship for the U-wing, so I would expect the price to be similar (and similar to the TIE Bomber, which was also sold individually).

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Plo Koon’s JSF = Microfighter.

At least Plo’s starfighter will be a new ship in the microfighter collection. I’d think LEGO would put these more desirable figures (Rex and Plo) in full-sized, and thus more expensive sets. Seems insulting to make these ships as microfighters I’d like to see great models to put on display.

Max was asked if the second Andor set is the Fondor, to which he said “Unfortunately it is not”. TIE Avenger is looking more likely now

I really badly want a Fondor… that and a more minifig-scaled U-Wing were the only things I wanted from LEGO as far as Andor coverage. Another TIE variant doesn’t interest me much, although I’m sure it’ll look cool. (I’m honestly over TIEs at this point.) An Imperial specialists/shore troopers battlepack would be the next-best choice in my book.

In other news:

I’ll be watching the Night-trooper battlepack with great interest.

I can’t stand Star Wars mechs, but, if kids enjoy them,  I guess I can’t complain. Maul is an excellent choice in that regard, although an uninteresting one in my book.

The prospect of another Republic vehicle is intriguing; especially one that features a P1 Pilot. I’m hoping for a V-19 Torrent in line with the falsely rumored one from 2018: S1 Anakin and Obi-Wan, P1 Rex and Cody, the pilot, of course, and the almighty singular B1 battledroid.
