The most notable thing I find about that image is that there’s only one Phase 1 Commander in it. And he’s a relatively obscure one at that, one which should realistically have been subbed out for a more recognisable clone like Pons, Doom or Thorne. The P1 Commander in question is Commander Fil.

As I’ve said before. I’ve been racking my brains trying to figure out what set the Clone Pilot could come in. But then it hit me. We know we’re getting some kind of Republic Aircraft due to a P1 Clone Pilot, suggesting that it’s a P1 clone set. We strongly assume that we’re getting a clone Commander from the image that Maxbaut shared. The episode Fil was in, Lair of Greivous, featured a Republic Shuttle, a vehicle that’s manned by Clone Pilots.

The image means nothing. We're not getting Commander Fil from some obscure Season 1 TCW episode. Kit Fisto being one of the Jedi characters rumored is plausible, but that's just due to the character's relative popularity.

They're clones. They are supposed to be identical. It's a luxury not a requirement. They are just fine as is.

If Rex and Fives got the pauldron then so can Bly and his troops, they haven't gone away from those, only kamas

I feel like getting sick of Clones is because we got so many 501st, new legions would be better, Galactic Marines and Republic Commandos are needed too

More Stormtrooper variants would be nice too like the Flame Trooper,Shock Trooper,Shadow Trooper

At the prices Lego is selling their sets at, luxuries should be the norm/expected. 

No one said it was a requirement, (hence why Lego thought it was fine not to include it) but it is Lego being cheap, just like the lack of astromech back printing.

Had some free time, so I recreated the ARC-170 in Studio if anyone wants to get a head start on mods. Uploaded the file to Bricksafe

The 3l liftarms in white with the technic axle hole in the middle don't seem to be in Studio yet, so I just used regular liftarms. Other than that, the build should be all correct, apart from the occasional outdated mold version.

Sure, but on the list of little extra things I'd like to see in sets (I dunno, like major characters coming with hair and helmets (if applicable), more figures in general, etc), "clones having unique faces" is like the very bottom, which I think a lot of people would agree with.

A Republic Attack Shuttle or V-19 Torrent makes the most sense to me - I know the V-19 hasn’t had much of a media presence recently but Micro Galaxy Squadron have just released one too, so who knows? Getting a LAAT/i in its normal colours isn’t completely out of the question either.

Knowing that a P1 Clone Pilot is coming renews my feeble hopes for getting Anakin and Obi-Wan in their early Clone Wars armour along with a P1 Captain Rex. In any case Max definitely has a finger on the pulse of what LSW fans want (he was previously affiliated with Promobricks right?), so if he’s excited then I think we should be too.

I would guess just the cockpit, with the possibility of one more trooper fitting on it. With the Jedi and clones battle pack having a “republic gunship,” I’m not sure this will closely resemble the police gunship.

We already have Commander Appo, though a Sergeant Appo based on the Umbara arc would be nice as a May the Fourth (or other exclusive) 'fig.

I agree; while Clones have the same face, they do not have the same facial expression at all times! A double-sided head (smirk/serious or calm/angry) would have been nice. As an aside, I would like to see another standard Clone head at some point (maybe a slight smirk or a determined expression with gritted teeth?); the existing one is good as a default, but some emotional variation would be useful.

Nice work! Can you try lengthening the wings by two studs on either side? I like the design overall, but the wings feel just a bit stubby.

This is called entitlement. Yes, Lego's inflated prices are a Mini-Figure, but I don't expect anything besides the bare minimum at this point. Besides, an extra facial expression is the least of my worries. How about more figures in general. I don't care about a face I'll likely never use.

They're beneath a helmet, my guy. The ARC-170 pilots, whatever, but the rank and file may as well have the old black heads underneath. Some of us remember the old Hasbro days of no heads under the helmets, just a ball joint. Getting to see Jango's mug is another luxury. I'd love more heads in that skin tone, but they don't have to come with clone trooper figures. Again, most of us will never think about what's underneath, it's really not necessary.

To be clear, if Lego did provide these things, I'd be happy about it, but let's just try to be realistic here.

Yeah- they seem like easy, cheap sets to put out. I mean look I just said what I did about clones, but they still are a draw for many people, so throw a new commander in or whatever. Or pair them with V-wings, Jedi Starfighters, etc for a starfighter two pack lego likes so much.

EXACTLY. Sure, more new prints are nice, but heads for characters literally meant to be the same guy feels like the most nitpicky nitpick of all time. I'd argue lego's actually been absurdly good about unique clone heads, with every clone we see unhelmeted in TCW coming with one (Rex, Fives, Cody- who doesn't even really have many distinguishing features from a normal clone). I'd much rather any quality improvement go towards... pretty much anything else. More figures/more printing on figures, increasing the quality of light-colored printing on dark-colored parts, not having one out of every 4-5 sets I've bought in the past few years be missing parts, etc.

You wouldn’t expect each clone armour to have individual scruff marks.

Also with most themes now having their summer set lists unveiled (including Harry Potter and DC, although the latter only has one set), here’s hoping a Star Wars list isn’t far behind.

Solid Bricks Studios' review of the ARC-170 has improved my opinion of the model. The promotional images don't really do the set justice. Seeing that it's not too far off in size from the 2005 model, as well as seeing how flimsy the 2010's wings seem in comparison, I think this set's a pretty good iteration of the craft.

I was also already on board with the Acclamator, but seeing that there are no stickers, and the in-hand look at the model is beautiful, I'm really excited for this one.

Correct! A Sergeant Appo based on the Umbara arc would be a nice May the Fourth or book exclusive, but unless we get all our P2 boys, he would be an unnecessary inclusion in a normal set.

Usually, though there are a lot of scenes in TCW where the Clones have their helmets off! Also, while we are on the subject, I wish that Cody had gotten a double-sided head. While his face is good, it is also a bit too aggressive for a default expression; also, since Cody has the standard Clone haircut that covers the back of his head, there would be no issue with giving him a second, more neutral, expression (maybe just the standard Clone face, but with his scar).

Much better! The wings look proportional to the body now - I will definitely be doing something like this when I get the set!

You misunderstand, aside from maybe Cody or Rex, I don't need to see the face behind the troops, since they'll be keeping their helmets on in my collection. They're grunts, I treat them as such.

I do agree that Cody should've had a more neutral expression.

As long as the Separatists come with more than just Battle Droids. Its been ages since we've had Count Dooku, General Grievous, Nute Gunray and Season 1 Ventress in a set. Wat Tambor are Rune Haako are also long overdue.

In fact I'd like to see more prequel era villains in general. Jango Fett is a great start for next year but Zam Wesell, Savage Opress, Aurra Sing, Pong Krell and Pre Vizsla could all use a modern update. I'm still waiting for a Mother Talzin figure as well.

The only other clones I would add to that list are the Phase I Captain, Lieutenant and Sergeant from AOTC as they haven't been updated to the current style yet.

My hunch is that, given the trend of extremely expensive 18+ sets in recent years, they'll do both packaged as the Battle of Endor and sell it for like $700.  I think just the Ewok Village could be achieved as an MBS for $350-400 (Cantina price, basically), and if you added in the shield bunker, the actual shield generator, some of the Ewok traps and terrain, a speeder bike or two, and probably an AT-ST, that'd be somewhere in the $600-700 range.

The thing is, I would argue that we don't really need an MBS style shield bunker.  It's basically just a gray box with a giant radar dish behind, not the best display model, and we really only see a few small sections of the interior.  Yes, I know that the Cantina is basically a tan box and got the MBS treatment, but I'd argue it's different in that it's way more iconic, and we see the bulk of the interior (and thus it can be recreated).  

If it were me, I'd say do a $350-400 MBS Ewok Village (with minifigures from the celebration at the end of the movie, so we can get Force Ghosts), and then release a $150-200 Battle of Endor set that's essentially a remake of the 2009 set - a bunker that's basically just a 3-sided facade, a smaller version of the radar dish, an AT-ST, some speeders, and some element of the terrain.  While together, they'd end up close to the same price as packaging the two in one set, it would allow people to choose which to buy, and possibly result in some people buying multiple Battle of Endor sets to build a larger bunker or have a larger battle scene.

Also, the Assault on Hoth UCS debacle sort of proved that it's a little bit more difficult to successfully make an 18+ set based around multiple scenes without losing focus and ending up with a bunch of smaller vignettes that don't really feel worth the price tag (I don't own that set, but from the pictures, it just doesn't look like you get enough "stuff" to justify the $250 price tag).
