Yeah, glad they never got canonized. Though IIRC it was just a one off sort of spoofing X-files- a scout ship would appear on the edge of the galaxy.

The concept of an extragalactic threat is cool to me but the Vong specifically were something I really disliked. Though to be fair given the X-files vibes of the clone wars episode concept, I'd assume most who encountered the scout ship would be killed, and nobody would believe the survivors.

I've never read the NJO (or any books with the Vong) but that sounds like an interesting concept for an episode.

75417 is apparently a $199.99 18+ set.

Ideally it’s an Endor Bunker modular or a ISD bridge diorama/ book nook

Realistically and unfortunately it’s going to be a buildable mando? Isn’t it?

Yeah I’m willing to bet it’s a buildable character. Can’t get enough of those after all!

As someone who loves the original Thrawn trilogy and considers it some of the best star wars content of all time, he's not exactly grappling with morality there, nor is he in rebels. The canon books introduce that aspect to his character, and what little we see of him in Ahsoka doesn't outright contradict it or anything.

Not in the original Thrawn Trilogy, but more so in Outbound Flight and the other media around that. By the time of Heir to the Empire he's been an Imperial for decades and has largely worked out his ethical issues, but the younger versions of him have more of that angle.

Depending on how they played it, it could have been less about the survivors not being believed and more about them just not having any useful information. The Vong aren't particularly communicative; you could easily have a storyline where the TCW crew encounters and fights a YV scout ship but never really learns much about them other than that they're a previously-unencountered aggressive faction.

In more LEGO-related discussion, this is still the 2024 thread. Is a 2025 thread going to open at some point?

I absolutely agree with you. Not only Ahsoka Thrawn didn't do anything outstanding, but he also had a beer belly :pir-huzzah2: I personally prefer to imagine him being as thin as possible.

That’s a first.

1,000% agree. I’m so tired of seeing people defend this online. Did Kaecilius, a one-off villain in a Marvel movie, have a pot belly? Why should Thrawn, an iconic Legends villain who will be featured in numerous shows and movies, have one?

It raises too many questions: What has he been eating? Where, if how, could he get all that food? Does it count if you aren’t a human yourself? Why isn’t he fit from training with proto-DK troopers? How can his uniform fit that belly?

This part's just my interpretation, but I always assumed he was fine with either Ezra or Sabine getting on board and escaping to let the galaxy know he's back, having employed the tactic previously in the legends books.

Love the idea of PG deadpool's catchphrase just being "let's go", though I think he needs a pause so it's "Let's     go"

In my opinion, his announcement of his return should’ve been the Chimera single-handedly destroying a fleet of New Republic cruisers in the Outer Rim. As much as I genuinely love Ezra’s “I’m home” moment, I would’ve preferred a scene instead where Hera enters the briefing room to see a hologram of three or so cruisers being beaten by a crippled Star Destroyer. That’s how you would introduce Thrawn to the galaxy, as well as a live action audience.

Along with that… I firmly believe that, after Sabine’s Force push moment, Ezra should’ve been shot in the back by Thrawn himself. Again, it makes Thrawn terrifying with his masterful chessboard manipulation, it cements Sabine’s lesson to forgo attachment when it compromises her galaxy, and it also makes Ezra’s sacrifice in the Rebels finale that much more impactful.

I was basing PG Dealpoopl’s catchphrase off of some late game TV Spots where Wade’s colourful expression is obviously cut down to just “Let’s go!”. (I find it hilarious that, on the other hand, Wolverine’s “Let’s go” sounds completely natural.)

They were going to do a Vong arc in TCW? We sure dodged a bullet with that one.

That comment strangely feels pointed, but I can’t figure out why. It’s almost as if you want a proponent of Legends to defend the Vong as a part of Star Wars.

Huh. Well, as you were.

…alternatively, an exact 1:1 Ewok Village in 2025?

Probably just a huge buildable Ewok, though.

It's such obvious bait.

I like the hyper-fantasy aspects of Star Wars, it is a Science Fantasy Epic, after all. The Vong, Krayt, Abeloth, etc. They feel sufficiently larger-than-life, befitting an epic space opera. I do understand the whole "immune to the Force" thing being strange, but eh, they had to do something different I guess. I do like the organic "technology" and anti-tech ideology they had.

We already have three different buildable characters releasing next year. Four would be insane.

This is also true in canon, though. His issues with the empire are more apparent in the first thrawn book, and by the time of rebels and Ahsoka he is much more resigned that the empire is the superior option to aid the Chiss against extragalactic threats.

Wait- Ewok, Grogu, and who else?

Many called it correctly, the first $1000 LSW set would be a Death Star. I wonder if it’ll just be the outer shell or if it’ll have any interior. If it’s the former, it must be absolutely massive to warrant that kind of price. If it’s the latter, I hope it’s the perfect blend between the playset and UCS death stars of the past.

As for the MTT, $150 is simply not enough to do it justice. Recent sets and prices for those sets have made that abundantly clear.

MTT and Buildable Ewok as well.

Slightly less than over 50% of my monthly wages fur those 2 though (and wasn't the ewok already confirmed just not it's price?)

Maybe it's a CIS MTT and the clone pilot is in a side build? Probs not though as SW sets often shy away from large sidebuilds unless they're UCS or dual packs (where it would be in the name), could still be the grey and blue CIS look though, time will tell.

$150 MTT coming next summer.. the 2014 version cost $90—equivalent to around $120 today after accounting for inflation

So that’s a $30 increase... Considering the ongoing trend of downsizing sets and crazy pricing we've seen recently (e.g. Ahsoka's Jedi Interceptor, ARC-170, Acclamator etc.), I guess it’ll be a similar size to the 2014 set. It’s hard to imagine it being any smaller... but everything is possible nowadays so we shouldn't keep our hopes up

Now that I think about it, with the May UCS being Jango’s Slave I, and the big fall set being a Death Star, the $200 18+ set HAS to be Endor, right? Unless the Endor leaks really were pointing to the Ewok. Or unless the Death Star is considered an MBS set. Where’s the Cantina replacement!

$1000 Death star!?!?

That's one set I won't be getting!

What is an appropriate amount of minifigures for a $1000 Death Star?  40?  We may be getting that conference room after all.

Also hoping the $200 is the Ewok village or bunker idea that has floated around (think I would prefer a bunker and AT-ST).  that would be a nice price for one (not too crazy, but still substantial).

Love that we’re getting another MTT. I was a big fan of the last one and am absolutely open to getting another. Definitely personally hope it’s still a brown one and not clone wars colors. Just not a fan of the blue and grey myself. I honestly don’t get why people hate the last one so much though it’s a great model.

Because it was a “multi troop transport” that carried the same number of droids as last year’s May GWP.

You and me both. Preferably the Bunker.

I need a base to station my garrison in.

Love the MTT news just hope it comes with some separatist forces that aren’t B1s like a tactical droid, droidekas, or a separatist leader.

the teasing about an Endor set hopefully wasn’t for a Death Star II if it was that’s disappointing but hopefully the 18+ summer set is the Endor set. Whether that is a remake of the bunker or a scaled down ewok village I’m curious to know

I'm going to take a guess now and say that the upcoming Death Star will come with only a few minifigures to put on a plaque - just like all of the other UCS sets that have come out in the past while. I know the past ones had a bunch of minifigs, but I'm not getting a feeling that this one will be like that - especially if they go for the half-complete look of Death Star II. I could very well be wrong, but that's the hunch I'm going to go with.
