Kaijumeister Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) Okay, so discounting polybags and UCS sets: - There are currently 11 Midi-Scale Ships, Helmets, Buildable Characters, and the Logo. - We know of 8 minifigure scaled sets (so far) this year. Including 4+, a mech, and a microfighter. That’s…nuts. I know Lego are trying to entice more adult collectors into the line but minifigure scaled ships and locations are the heart and soul of Lego Star Wars. This is so disappointing. Lobot Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 The new Death Star should be incredible for that sort of money! I guess that it will be a display model similar to 10143, albeit significantly larger and more detailed, with a nice selection of minifigures on a display stand. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the first images of it, but if it’s any good I think it could be on my shopping list for 2025. I’m assuming that it will be around £900 in the UK, so it’s time to start saving. In truth I only tend to buy UCS sets these days simply due to a lack of space, but I can just about justify this and the Slave 1 next year if I don’t get anything else; my lovely wife has already granted me permission to buy it! Lordhelmet Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 If it’s Death Star II and not one. Which minifigures would be appropriate? Vader, Luke, Emperor, couple guards, some random imperial officers troopers, storm troopers. The only new characters I could think of would be Moff Jerjorod, the two advisors to the emperor, and then maybe a remake of Piett. Death Star ii for a thousand feels like it would offer less than the first Death Star. I am also surprised they are not doing the first $1000 set as the first Death Star but released for the 50th anniversary in a few years. Quote

Darth_Bane13 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I really hope the MTT comes with at least 12 battle droids preferably 16, and hopefully it's a bit bigger than the 2014 one. Quote

A line top-heavy with 18+ display builds to the detriment of affordable minifig playsets is circling the drain. Probably too much to hope for to expect him, Talzin and some nightsisters though. I did make that exact set for one of my wishlist wave digital mocs , wasn't he rumoured for this summer though? It's one set. When I was a kid, I never expected I'd own the $500 death star, but it was a cool thing to know existed. Same, really. It was always my go to answer to what I'd get if I'd win any sort of monetary prize 'Lego Death Star'!! 55 minutes ago, Lobot said: In truth I only tend to buy UCS sets these days simply due to a lack of space, but I can just about justify this and the Slave 1 next year if I don’t get anything else; my lovely wife has already granted me permission to buy it! Ironically I'm pretty much the opposite. I've bought quite a few big D2Cs now but Never a Star wars UCS or MBS set ( been very tempted though) despite starting wars probably being the line I get most sets from in general. An Ewok village would change that but it's starting sound like it was the death star all along. 1 hour ago, CloneCommando99 said: U-Wing is easily my most hyped set for next year. I guess Buildable K2S0 also confirms that K2 will be in the U-Wing so that’s a silver lining. It'd be me my hyped too, except that I'm just as eager to see the night trooper BP. Though that just out of star wars sets, might be blasphemous to admit it here but my most hyped set isn't star wars. 1 hour ago, Mandalorianknight said: The Avengers Tower has 28 minifigures and a Hulk, so I'd say a $1000 death star should have ~60 minifigures. 9 of them should be stormtroopers lol. Nah! Let's go even bigger!!! Let's say 1 figure per 10 dollars so 100 figures!!! 50 can be stormies!!! Quote

Oh, and the (new?) commander I guess. I'd argue that Lego hates all of us right now. Except for City, that theme is eating right now. Speed Champions being a close second. 9 minutes ago, Darth_Bane13 said: I mean, it's not that crazy considering there's been two sets that are $850. Fair enough. ToaDraco Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I am incredibly hyped for a new MTT! I've always wanted one but I couldn't afford one in 2014 and I've avoided getting one 2nd-hand due to brittle brown syndrome. $150 sounds about right. I have no doubt it will be scaled down a bit but be far more solid of a build. There are so many great parts that have been added to LEGO's inventory in the past decade that will dramatically help with the shaping of the MTT. It sounds like there is a strong possibility that it is a CIS version which would be even more exciting. Hopefully it will have a decent selection of droids and minifigs. I'm definitely disappointed that the 2nd Andor set is a buildable K-2SO but that saves me money. I'm sure his figure will appear in both sets, so that's a good thing for everyone. My wife will probably want the buildable Ewok unless it's creepy looking. She loves Ewoks. The $1000 Death Star just makes me laugh. I look forward to seeing the reviews and speed builds for it but that's it. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Just when I thought this year couldn't get any worse (except for that one Andor set), it somehow did. First of all... NOOOO!!! I was so excited for an actual second Andor set, but it's... just a buildable figure? I hate LEGO. Then, let's see... two buildable figures, a 150€ Battle Droid ship, a 200€ 18+ set, and a 1000€ Death Star. Absolutely awful. Not a single system set in sight, and the prices are insane. Quote

I think it’s a bit early to go full doomer when we are still missing most of the summer wave sets, but I understand and agree with the sentiment of thinking there’s not enough playsets. I’ve always been a fan of the play sets over the adult targeted stuff and it does feel overwhelming every time another one gets added to the lineup and replaces (or feels like it) one of the former play slots. Lordhelmet Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) with the lack of play sets the average set price has to be crazy high too. I am also curious at the average mini figure pricer will inflate up to this next year. This has been trending worse each year, but with all the buildable figures, and then sets without any figures, will we see one minifig for every $40 or higher this year? (Crazy). In January we are looking at 11 minifigures (Grogu twice is included in 11 - so only ten characters). Total cost of January wave is $365ish so average $33 per minifig. I can't imagine that gets any better this year with the new rumors (and I don't think battle droids count as minifigs in Lego's eyes). The Death Star would need to have more than 33 mini figures to positively contribute to this rate for the year, with three more buildable figures, some helmets all negatively contributing toward this average. It makes the prices from last year seem reasonable (which I do not think they were) but at least we had the anniversary figs helping out, and sets like Tantive IV hallway helping. Edit: there is the chance the Death Star II is just a display and only has two minifigures for the display stand which would throw these numbers into a much worse place. wesker Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Another Death Star is disappointing. I was hoping the next MBS would be Endor. Looking forward to a new MTT. I would prefer an updated Trade Federation version as that version is more iconic and we're long overdue for minifigures of Boss Nass and Theed Battle Padme, but I'm expecting it to be the Clone Wars version since we're rumored to be getting two more Jedi characters in addition to Plo Koon and this seems like a fitting set for that to happen. Kaijumeister Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 This August we got 9 sets all in all - 2 of which were Threepio and the Droid Builder. It does leave quite a bit of room for traditional sets next August too, discounting K2 and Wicket. Quote
