By all accounts, that ship was totally unplanned (my guess is because at that point, LEGO wasn't doing anything for SW TV shows - after the last couple of Rebels sets, we had nothing other than the Mandalorian AT-ST, which was an incredibly safe choice as it was basically a slightly recolored AT-ST with different minifigures). Once the show was a smash hit, it seems like they rushed that set into production, had pre-orders available in like, February or March, and the set came out in August/September of the following year. Part of the reason that it took so long between pre-orders and production may have been since it was a system-scale model that expected large demand, so the quantity that they had to produce was likely higher than a typical D2C set, which I would assume are produced in lower quantities (especially since a typical LEGO store only has like 2-3 on shelves at a time, whereas most system sets have 5-8+ of each). I actually think it's possible that it was always meant to release at that time, even pre-show, and the only thing rushed in was the inclusion of Baby Yoda. The set was an amazon exclusive, and we'd just had the amazon exclusive vader's castle set, so it tracked that the RC would be the next amazon exclusive since in lego's eyes the TV show sets were obscure. (Though we did get a few between rebels and the crest- Yoda and anakin's starfighters come to mind- they were all pretty safe, cheap sets with figures and general ship archtypes that were in the movies) Quote
Llewop Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 I’m still surprised nothing has leaked yet from the March wave (except for the anniversary figures). When I saw others themes March releases getting announced/revealed at the start of the month I though SW wouldn’t be too long. I wonder if they are going to do a big reveal with these sets at one of the toy fairs that go on this time year, seeing as they are all anniversary sets. Just want to see what the Tantive boarding set looks like Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Who do you guys think is going to be the final figure in the advent calendar? With the lack of villains (apart from the B2) that we know I think it’s probably going to be a dark side character so hopefully Darth Maul or a stormtrooper. Quote

Thrawn to the casual fan and average child is only recognisable as the red eyed Blue man in a white imperial uniform. It wouldn’t work. Quote
Minishark2000 Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 The advent calendar for 2024 seems to be a fair bit larger than previous ones? I think they usually hover around the 300pc mark but this upcoming one had 368 pieces if I remember correctly Quote

It's no different than Darth Vader in a red Christmas sweater, or a lot of the other holiday versions of figures. Have Thrawn with a Santa hat, a bag, and his white uniform can either have red accents, he could have a scarf, or his uniform could be reddish color. That being said, I don't think they would do that at least until the movies with him show up, if even then. Quote

I don’t want to debate about character popularity/prominence but the casual fan (ie those who have just watched the films) probably wouldn’t know who Ahsoka is either. it was just an innocent suggestion to who could be a villain figure to even out the calendar a bit. It’s normally a figure that has featured in a recent series/show unless there is another Lego/disney Star Wars Xmas special we don’t know of yet could be anyone. I doubt it would be Vader or Palestine as I think they’ve featured in the last 3/4 calendars Quote

What’s the probability that Director Krennic will be a figure in the Death Star playset? It’s slightly different to Mon Mothma not being in Yavin as he’s the guy who built the space station. Odds are if we ever got him again it would be if he had a random role in Andor S2 or maybe if they did a remake of some rogue 1 sets but that could be years and years away (if it ever did happen) Quote

Pretty much zero- it's pretty clearly going to be an A New Hope based set, and we already know the anniversary fig isn't him. Quote
Archer Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 It would be a dream come true if the Death Star set could have the three featured officers from that seen, but I’d at least hope we can get one of them. Quote

TESB/ROTJ Boba maybe? Surprising he hasn’t been in a calendar yet! Quote

Not even going to say anything about anything about that whole conflict. i think the last two years were figures that were in a Disney plus show. So if/when we get one this year chances are could be someone from that. Quote

With the lack of dark side characters and Lego celebrating the 25th anniversary of TPM it makes sense. Quote

ArrowBricks Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 (edited) Purely speculation on my part, but could the rumoured buildable creature be an IG-11 Unit with Grogu? It did have a really weird rumour last year. Edited January 26, 2024 by ArrowBricks Quote

Neat idea (would also fit with the "multiple eyes" tidbit, if that's even real), but that would make it the only Mando set to have an anniversary figure Then again, there is no clear pattern which sets get anniversary figures and which don't. Seems completely arbitrary to me, so who knows at this point 30 minutes ago, ArrowBricks said: It did have a really weird rumour last year. Yeah, that was strange. I suppose someone heard about the actual leak from the set (as in film set) and decided to fabricate a LEGO set rumour out of it? Still weird it's not coming in either the May or June waves. That thing would be such as cool side build! Of course vastly out of scale with the previous IG figures, but still. Or as a large-scale buildable figure, as you suggest, which would give us Grogu in yet another scale. Wouldn't say no to that! Edited January 26, 2024 by BrickBob Studpants Quote

Someone, I'm not sure where, but they suggested this creature set could be from the Bad Batch season 3. It's just a guess ofc, but at this point for a creature with multiple eyes we don't have much to work with Edited January 26, 2024 by Minishark2000 Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 I am sure it is not the 50-eyed space kraken Summa-verminoth from SOLO How is it possible people know that it is a creature with multiple eyes but anything else about the creature is unknown? Quote
