Lego Nostalgia Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I would have preferred a 18+ Diorama of it but this will do, I'll probably buy 2 so I can connect them together and have an extra Fives. Quote

CF Mitch Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 The Boarding Tantive IV set looks fantastic (even though it's still a grainy picture), and it has a decent minifigure selection and count, as well Too bad it's fifty-freakin'-five dollars/euros, though... Regards, Mitch Quote

Considering the current prices of sets in waves, with a proper entry set being like 60 or 70 dollars nowadays, 55 seems pretty good for the amount of figs, especially that there is one with a high level of detail (fives) and even Vader if we consider he has printed arms Quote
Flawless Cowboy Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) Wonder what function the technic knobs on the side have. Also it really looks designed to have two connected together! This is a $110 set Edited January 27, 2024 by Flawless Cowboy Quote

I guess I'm still looking at the overall size of a set too much, when judging prices. And I forgot it will have Fives I wasn't sure whether to get this set, but considering Fives is in it, I might have to after all Regards, Mitch Quote
Minishark2000 Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 R2 looks great, maybe not chubby enough but for the amount of part's its expected. Also there are HD pics for the Tantive boarding set. So far this wave is off to a good start, beautiful box art on both (not as good as the 20th anniversary art or original trilogy edition art though) and solid sets Quote

Flawless Cowboy Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) I take it back, too many stickers on the tantive set it looks cheap. Should’ve been an 18+ set. On the other hand, buildable R2 actually looks amazing wtf? Edited January 27, 2024 by Flawless Cowboy Quote
ArrowBricks Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 R2-D2 looks very very good. Already planned on picking this up, but it’s a definite for me now. Quote

The set looks great imo especially the lifestyle pic where from above it really looks much beefier than the dark trooper attack Quote

I believe the door is also a giant sticker Yeah they could have used round studs on the columns instead of stickers sure but idk use of stickers just aren't a thing I think about much anymore, star wars sets have been this way since like 2006. Maybe they've grown on me but I do think stickers/prints give a little bit of charm to each set. The only stickers I'm against are stuff like speed champs where it's overwhelming Quote
TheUnusualBuilder Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) Boarding the Tantive IV looks pretty good, maybe a little underwhelming compared to my expectations but I quite like the build and the play features look cute. Nice to get a new set of prints for Captain Antilles but no new torso for Vader is disappointing (esp since we're allegedly getting him in another SW'77 set later this year) and imo the new all-white Stormtroopers blend in too much - I'll definitely be swapping out those hips for the classic black. R2-D2, though, looks legitimately fantastic. In particular, the dome here looks much rounder than either UCS set, which is great bc that was my biggest issue with both of those. I like all of the little instruments and I don't mind that they don't fold in and have to be attached separately - this is primarily a display set, after all. It'll be nice to finally get an R2 with back printing, and Malak will help me offset the cost of the set by a good $30 or so (just kidding, I never sell my LEGO). My only complaint is that it looks like all of the decorations are stickers, but even then this has quickly gone from a set I had little interest in to one of my favorite sets of 2024 so far. Hopefully the rumored C-3PO looks as good as this - I'd love to have them displayed together. Edited January 27, 2024 by TheUnusualBuilder Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 R2-D2 also looks really good. Not interested in the slightest, but I like it for what it is. Really glad the anniversary minifigure stands are compatible with the ones we got five years ago. Quote

Yeah, it's a small thing but it's nice they've kept it consistent. On the back of the box of the Tanitive IV set, there seem to be black tehncic pins attached to the base, makes me wonder whether there's another section coming (Like the area with the escape pods or something) or whether they just intend you to buy multiple. Oh, good idea! I don't think having multiple of this set connected would look that great (it's not a perfect rectangle, and it looks like you can only connect them front to back) but an escape pod bay or the black corridor where Leia recorded her message would be great additions. Maybe a small Tantive IV expansion with one of those areas to connect to this set could be the May the 4th promo, like how the recent Harry Potter vault promo was designed to connect to Gringotts? Llewop Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 The Hd pics for the tantive actually show play feature of Vader choking out Antilles. wonder if that’ll be replicated in the Death Star set … Quote

It looks like Vader’s entrance is connected using technic pins—so it could be removed if you buy dupes. I’m also guessing there are going to be technic connections behind the doorway that Antilles is running out of on the box art. Hasbro did a Tantive hallway for The Vintage Collection. It’s well done & has a surprising amount of variations/configurations for expansion. I imagine/hope the set will have roughly the same variability. Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 While entirely superfluous, that's a neat-looking R2, especially at the smaller scale! The highlight of the set is undeniably Malak tho, but we knew that from the getgo Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I had no expectations for R2, but the build looks great. Cute even I like how they designed the legs. The top, with all the visible grey studs, looks a bit rough though. Quote
