Some of these prices do make me laugh when you see them next to eachother- Who's gonna go for mando's N-1 microfighter over the slave one microfighter when one is 70% more expensive than the other for essentially the same value of product? Do kids have no other way to get Mando and Grogu? Quote
Lego Nostalgia Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 (edited) I bought a 501st Trooper with the magazine and the helmet was misprinted, I wonder if there is bad quality with the figures that come from the factory that are meant for these magazines however I bought 9 212th Magazine packs and they were all fine so I guess it's bad luck. Hope we hear more info about the Death Star and Creatue sets soon. Edited March 8, 2024 by Lego Nostalgia Quote

The efficiency of it also makes me think that it is a bigger problem than i thought it was. But saying that that was my first issue in 20 years with Lego so maybe I’ve been lucky compared to others Helmet mis-prints are one thing. That's to be expected and Lego's pretty good about sending replacements for those if you ask. But it's the overall quality control that's really sunk. Compare a piece from today to one from 5-6 years ago. You'll see that the injection mold marks are noticably worse today. And to that the occasional factory scratch, blemish, crack, or mis-print and the flaws add up fast. The quality has gone down and the price has gone up. Complain, ask for replacement parts for low quality pieces even if you try to justify "not needing it", and eventually Lego will get the picture and make positive changes. It's their moto that says "only the best is good enough." Make them live up to it. Quote

Yeah agreed, I’m just going to pretend that set is some generic Imperial facility that Cal is sneaking into. On the topic of the X-Wing vs. TIE, it presumably being based on ANH really limits the prospects of what the additional minifigures are going to be. Pilots like Biggs and Wedge would make the most sense with some extra tile parts to change the fighter’s callsign, kind of like the 2018 X-Wing. Quote

Imo most imperial officers are generic white men, the fact they’ve got a name makes little difference to me. Most of them have the same uniform and grey cap. It might just be different head on them all and I would not be able to tell the difference between them. This is my most anticipated set of the year (Jedi bob a close 2nd only as I have a thing for Jedi starfighters). Gutted that they can’t give Cal his own set but maybe one day. Quote

Some parts were really low-quality (pushing them together made the same sound as nails on a chalkboard) but the worst part is that the leg joints are too weak too hold up the model. It literally can't stay stood up on my shelf, nevermind when I tried to actually play with it. Compare that with the 2010 model which I played with pretty roughly as a kid and never had any stability issues. Low plastic quality, low print quality, lazy minifigure designs, poor colour matching between batches, not to mention how much more common it seems to be to have missing parts these days. All sorts of problems which we shouldn't have to deal with from a premium product whose price is only increasing. 58 minutes ago, CloneCommando99 said: I’m more in the camp of the set having generic officers of differing rank, imperial crewmen, imperial fleet troopers and stormtroopers. On a more positive note, I agree with this. I'm a sucker for getting new ranks of Imperial Officers; hopefully we get a new Lieutenant at some point, though wouldn't expect that from this set specifically- if they were to go down the 'Cal infiltrating a base' route then an ISB Officer would be cool to get. Exactly. A ISB lieutenant would be the sweet spot. An Updated Imperial captain with rank markings’ size on par with other recent officers, Ranked Death Star Trooper and a Gunner officer would slap as well. Quote

Now you mention it, an ISB guy would work even if it is a Death Star set. We see a generic one with Yularen when Han and Luke are in Disguise (though he wasn't a Lieutenant but somehow I don't think people would complain- the officer in 75159 also wasn't a specific one from the movie). Ranked DS Trooper would be great too, could just reuse the Navy Officer's torso from 75159 and give him the big helmet. I managed to get a few of the captains from 75055 and they still hold up pretty well but yeah they do have a different style for the badge and code cylinders so a new version would be nice. Anyway, I'm kinda wishlisting here. Do we know if the set's actually real at this point? Same with the Dark Falcon and so on; the silence from leakers recently definitely seems like there could've been a sort of sting operation to catch them. The DS playset in particular was pretty shaky from the start with a bunch of different prices and minifigure selections. Quote
BitByBrick Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 With Dark Forces Remastered finally available, any chance of seeing a Kyle Katarn minifigure in the future? Here’s hoping 🤞 Quote

These sets leaked super early, last year we didn't even know what the summer/fall wave sets were until April (remember the April Fools that wasn't actual an April Fools?), and I remember in past years, even when we have some set details in February/March/April, it's sometimes not even clear what minifigures are coming until pictures leak. I seem to recall the AAT from 2020 in particular being one where Ahsoka wasn't even confirmed until pics leaked in like late May. Quote

The trend in leaks, at least in my experience, is that we get basic information on august sets mid February to early march, and then we get an update on the figs/ features of the august sets and basic information on any September sets during the first half of April. Some of the cases in point: 2022 AT TE, 2023 332nd swamp speeder and 2023 Yavin playset. Quote

The only thing we don’t know is about 1-2 sets and a few minfigueres that might appear in some. I think your timeline is right for info but it’s normally for the May/june wave we’ve been getting recently. 1 hour ago, Kit Figsto said: I wouldn't put too much into it. This is why I’m a little bit cautious still with the summer sets because April was early for leaks last year which is why we were so sceptical and of course it being April fools as well, but even after being confirmed by leakers there were a lot of us who were still skeptical because of how early it was. dont get me wrong i like the sound of the sets just taking with a pinch of salt until more info comes. i want to know when we might see/hear more about the may and June waves before we get to August one. I’m strangely curious about the Droideka. I don’t know if it was speculation but I swear someone said the moff Gideon bunker and the Mando S3 bp could link up. I can’t really imagine the build for the bp at this point vehicles would make no sense so it has to be location surely. Quote

Yes, I think this was confirmed. Hopefully the battle pack is terrain, as you said, so that they can connect in a way that makes sense and so we don't end up with a nonsense vehicle. That way, buying more battle packs to set up a larger scene gives you the extra room required to pose the extra figures. Quote

I think it seems generally okay to assume at least the basis of a set will be true, but details like minifigures or vehicles included are kind of in-flux or can vary from "100% confirmed" to "this is sort of iffy info." I think part of it is because there's been sets where it's unclear what exactly it is until it's leaked/revealed. I remember the 501st Clone set (the original one) was originally described as either an AT-RT or a BARC (I forgot which one) and then, come to find out, it was basically an upscaled battle pack. If I remember correctly, the 332nd BP was also just a swamp speeder originally (there was some rumor that it was the 327th with Bly, if I recall?) and then it was later shown to be a normal 332nd BP. I wouldn't be surprised if this is sometimes the result of inadvertent games of telephone, where reliable leakers give info, and then other people make conjecture about the figures, which in turn gets repeated as confirmed information. It's not like it's just a few parts out of each newly manufactured set either. Literally every part has marks that remind me of sprue marks from low grade model kits and it's incredibly disappointing IMO. I also have compared new parts to new old stock parts from MISB sets prior to 2010 and I've noticed that the older parts have a more satisfying connection and click than their newer made counterparts. I gotta say I completely agree, older parts are much more rugged and have stood the test of time, while new parts are beginning to falter. I notice this the most with minifigures, it's always newer figures that have cracks (2016 onwards figures), at least in my experience. I rarely have older minifigures with torso cracks, but I see listings and from my own purchases of lots it's always newer minifigs developing these issues. Lego is still great but their attention to detail and quality is slightly slipping recently Quote
