Hello everybody! :classic:

I thought it would be interesting to know which ten unlicensed Lego sets you want to be re-designed, e. g. as Icons / "Lego Moments" sets. So please share!

Here are mine:

And what about yours?

Only 10?!? This is hard, especially since you said unlicensed. (Otherwise the Santa Fe would be top of the list!). However, I will try! In no order whatsoever:

10027 - train engine shed (World City / train)

10128 - train level crossing (World City / train)

3740 / 3741 / 3742 + color brick packs - small / large locomotives + tender (My Own Train / train)

7415 - Aero Nomad (Orient Expedition / Adventurers)

5920 - Island Racer (Dino Island / Adventurers)

5935 - Island Hopper (Dino Island / Adventurers)

5956 - Expedition balloon (Jungle / Adventurers)

10184 - Town Plan (Town / 50th anniversary of Lego)

I completely agree with you!

But otherswise the lists would get nearly endless (e. g. I would like all the sets you and the others mentioned, too, plus a lot more).

Some great list suggestions here! @Brick Boss, wouldn't a rescue helicopter be cool to see in the emergency theme too?

@Klaus-Dieter, do you have a preference for time periods if they remade some of these? I'm always torn between original designs or modernized updates. Also wondering, for the train sets, would you want working track functions or more focus on buildings/details? Tough choices for sure when there are so many cool older sets to consider.

Top ten lists are so hard for me. There are so many great sets. And the better they are, perhaps, the less they really need a redesign. So I'll limit myself to Space which I have the strongest opinions on.

Probably one set that is in the sweet spot for being iconic, but also in great need of a redesign, is the Blacktron Renegade.

I love the design and general idea, and the colors, but the actual in person feel of the set is less impressive. Something about it feels unfinished and flimsy, and like the parts were really stretched to the maximum. With a bigger budget I think the set could reach its full potential.

Another set I love to pieces but doesn't make any sense is Robot Command Center.

6951-1.jpg

Is there a big-budget redesign even possible for this set that would "fix" the proportions and somehow make a sensible reinterpretation of the four blue hinged canopies on the sides? Seems like a difficult challenge to me, but perhaps not impossible.

Then there's a set that I don't like at all, but could perhaps be "fixed" by a total redesign:

1789-1.jpg

Other than the colors and general shape, I think this is a terrible design. Don't crucify me, Unitron fans! I just want this set to be as good as it always deserved to be.

Then there are sets that I want re-released in upgraded form not because they need it, but because they're so good already:

6872-1.jpg

6940-1.jpg

6932-1.jpg

6989-1.jpg

6973-1.jpg

And just for giggles to see what the designers come up with:

Since that actually is the set we are rumoured to get next year, what do you consider to be the bigger budged they would need to make it reach its full potential?

Hmm, maybe the Galaxy Explorer treatment? 1200ish pieces, $100? Although if it's going to be bigger, maybe 1500 pieces would be better, so the parts aren't stretched too thin again.

If we are really getting the Renegade, then I would actually think they would make 3 cockpits, one bigger and two smaller ones for the the sides. However the Moments Space Set will be 966 Pieces for 99,99€ - So less than the Galaxy explorer, but if they include more cockpits and overall maybe bigger pieces, since it might be harder to stabilize the ship I think it still would be ok - I would have to see it to really judge it. Overall I think it is harder to modernize than it was with the Galaxy Explorer, since it has a quite special shape. For me it always looked a bit weird with the asynchronous middle part.

6990 Monorail Transport System (the set is perfect the way it is but I'd love a new monorail and new track)

6949 Robo Guardian (an even larger version would be cool)

6074 Black Falcon's Fortress (a full sized version with the same general design)

375 Yellow Castle (a modern version using the same colors and minifigs)

6018 Battle Dragon (a 10 times larger version with a lot of details and more minifigs)

3314 Police Unit (make it a full scale soccer riot with lots of riot control police and water cannons, I know it'll never happen but it'd be a fun set)

6335 Indy Transport (similar but larger)

6544 Shuttle Transcon 2 (similar but larger)

6270 Forbidden Island (similar but larger)

6274 Caribbean Clipper (similar but larger)

I think that all these sets are perfect in their original form but it would also be cool to get new larger versions of them with different parts and building techniques. They should keep the original minifigs just like they did with the Galaxy Explorer and maybe add one new torso print per set and a new face based on the classic smiley face.

Ooh, yes! I always wanted this when I was little. Even now it still looks so darn cool!

Here's a list of my own:

Sphinx Secret Surprise

5978-1.jpg

Expedition Balloon

5956-1.jpg

Aero Nomad

7415-1.jpg?200212130134

I'll also put Robo Guardian

6949-1.jpg

Blacktron Strider

6876-1.jpg

Robo Raptor

2152-1.jpg

Black Monarch's Ghost

6034-1.jpg

It's a little hard for me to come up with ten, so seven will do unless I can think of more later. I don't like filling it up for the sake of it, these are all sets I either had and loved or wish I had when I was young, or I think are just too cool or fun.

Here's a list of my own:

Any of those would make a great Icons set. It would be very interesting to see a larger version of Black Monarch's Ghost. Spyrius had some great sets and the Robo Guardian is a truly iconic set. I got the Robo Guardian for Christmas 94. When I was a kid I always wanted the Futuron Monorail but when my parents were going to buy it it wasn't available anymore. Later as an adult I bought it from Bricklink.

Your post with the old boxart images gave me a "smell memory" of thumbing through old catalogues @Autumn

I was just copying how the other person did it above me, thought it was a good idea.

Black Monarch would be a GWP due to its size. I really liked it when I was little. Maybe it was just because it had a glow in the dark ghost.

I'm jelly you had Robo Guardian. It's on my wanted list (along with a load of other retro Lego). One of my favourite Lego giant robots / mechs of all time.

I already imagined a huge castle with two enormous doors like a gate . I also have the Black Monarch's Ghost, it's a really nice set for it's size and the ghost is so cool! Given it's size and iconic status the Robo Guardian is surprisingly inexpensive on Bricklink.

Alright here it goes.

  1.  8538: Muaka and Kane-Ra, With how Lego system has evolved I think it could be fun to take  stab at an old Bionicle set primarily made from technic construction turning it system.
  2.  6987: Message Intercept BaseThis is easily my favorite original blacktron set. More of a blacktron 2 guy myself.
  3. 6769: Fort LegoredoDo I need to say more?
  4. 6763: Rapid River Village, As long as its done tastefully this would be an amazing remake
  5. 6075 Wolfpack tower, The wolfpack faction is so fun. not really a bandit guy but they work so well. You could probably combine all 3 wolfpack sets in to on set with how Lego seems to love going big these days.
  6. 6093: Flying Ninja fortressWe need more realistic Asian in house themes.
  7. 6089: Stone Tower Bridge, This could be a very fun set to get a remake of with the evolution of Lego.
  8. 6277: Imperial Trading Post I Personally would have vastly rather this get a remake then Eldorado Fortress
  9. 6979: Interstellar StarfighterI love the zotaxians. We need more of them. I prefer set 6915 warp wing fighter but this deserves a grand remake.
  10. 4940: The Granite GrinderOk idea, what if we got a grand remake of this, but it comes with a buildable rock monster? I like having buildable figures.

So that's my list.
