December 21, 20231 yr In my opinion, the difference in appearance between this set and the actual vehicle already goes beyond the level of 'it's okay because it's a toy.' It would have been better if it had just been called ‘John Deere harvester.’

January 1, 20241 yr Happy New Year! Here's my quick and dirty rubber band mod that I came up with in 10 min. Just get rid of those ugly and useless gears and connect the rotation via rubber bands like below and you'll end up having a realistic working rotary harvesting unit! Extra pieces inside the frame.
January 1, 20241 yr And here's a bonus mod for including the two counter rotating feeding wheels as well
January 1, 20241 yr Nice idea! I was playing around with different gear combos the other day, and didn't really come up with much viable, so that rubber-band setup is quite clever!

January 18, 20241 yr Did you know that 28T gears can be used as sprockets? Is it worth working, lets find it out by model using it here

I tested it with other gears too and they all more or less work, one tooth sometimes skips but thats not a huge deal Edited January 18, 20241 yr by SNIPE
January 19, 20241 yr Well, bought and built this 🐕, and, well... This may be the most flimsy model I have ever built. The cab is especially egregious in this regard; the pillars aren't fixed in place, and so the roof isn't either. The steering wheel and seat assembly pops off if you sneeze near it, and the beams actually supporting the cab move out of position easily. Other small details aren't even fixed in place! And the header? Okay, I think we've covered the blade direction. But because the whole thing is yellow, the function isn't even that visible. Worse, the two 1x5 beams on the underside of the header scrape against the surface of the table/desk/hard flat object on which the harvester is being run. Seriously, TLG - what happened here?
January 21, 20241 yr The varying wheel sizes of this set made me think of transforming it into a John Deere Dragster. I started out by loading all the parts into Stud.io and seeing if there was enough options to achieve a dragster silhouette. It looked promising so I got the set at a nice discount (and a free 42163 as well ) and started building: in the beginning I had some doubts but ultimately, everything fell into place quite well and I was able finish a full dragster, using 86% of the original parts. It has hand of god steering and a working fake enige. It's quite long: 46 cm / 18 inch. Fun fact: early in the build process the model looks very much like the front bit of an X-wing and I am tempted to see it that's doable too. Who knew John Deere also built dragsters and spaceships. Here's some more pictures. The instructions (and digital model) are available for free on Rebrickable.
