Rayman Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 wow Lego has been pretty generous with new molds lately haven't they? Quote
phoinix Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 too generous.. im getting confused is this even lego nowadays? its getting hard to follow sometimes its just too realistic for my liking and yes i do love the new hair but how can one be able to collect them? i cant afford these sets just for some hair! Batbrick Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 too generous..im getting confused is this even lego nowadays? its getting hard to follow Wait......what? How does new molds for figs constitute for "not being Lego"? Not being rude, just curious. Batbrick Away! Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I love the venice boats. The fez is great too, although I agree that the head needs some printed hair. I love the colour they've chosen for the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword figs, have they used this colour before? You're right, it does look like a darker colour. It looks like the dark flesh that was used in the basketball sets: Quote
phoinix Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) Wait......what?How does new molds for figs constitute for "not being Lego"? Not being rude, just curious. Batbrick Away! lego used to have about 10 molds and you could build anything you wanted with them and that was what made lego unique. that is why their slogan is "just imagine" ok then there were 100 molds or even more but if lego makes 1000 molds they take that imagination away and lately i think they have "over" done it because a brick can be anything you want it to be but a specialised piece cant be all that many things that is the best way i can explain this to you Edited January 26, 2009 by phoinix Quote
WookieeWarrior Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I'm so glad we get Mutt's motorcycle and I'm pleased with the way they did the saddlebags. I'm super excited about these sets, but it's hard to tell what it the set and which isn't because the background isn't a solid color. Quote
Lord Santos Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 The venice chase set is win, imagine a Lego venice city Quote
JimBee Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Thanks for finding the pictures, Hinckley. All of these sets look pretty good to me, although I wouldn't pay more than 20 USD for the Graveyard Duel. We also get some interesting new molds, like the Fez and Elsa's hair, which should both be useful. German Plane = FAIL Personally, I like it very much. The design is good, since one-man planes were blocky like that in the front. It looks pretty sturdy, too, and should be able to be swooshed around. The pilot does look like another Bruce Wayne, though... wow Lego has been pretty generous with new molds lately haven't they? Yes, they have. Wait......what?How does new molds for figs constitute for "not being Lego"? Not being rude, just curious. I know he already answered you, but I think he means that TLG might take it too far (or they already have). All of these new molds kind of take away from that creativity that old molds provide. While I think that this is true, I really am grateful for the new molds, since we as a fan community have asked for them (how many Fez customs have I seen...?). It might raise the price on the sets, but IMO, a few extra dollars are worth it. More molds = more creativity, not less. (IMO). Quote
Erdbeereis Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Frankly, I'm happy I don't have to use a cone as a fez anymore... For the most part, I think new molds are excellent and provide much more detail in both MOCs and official sets. Quote
Svelte Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 IJ this year is all about the figs, so far. After overdosing on Irina, Mutt and Indy himself last year we are getting spectacular versions of principal characters and villains this year. I had hoped for the Chauchilla cemetery to be based around a colour other than dark bley, but it looks OK. Venice looks like a fun little playset, with the manhole, bridge, cute boats etc. I wonder why we aren't seeing the other sets yet - I thought the second wave was all coming out at the same time. MrCustomizer Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) http://www.flickr.com/photos/julencin2000/3199496232/ A better view of the prelimenary ToD. You can clearly see Shortie in Jock outfit, Willie in Marion torso and WHAT LOOKS LIKE A NEW HAIRPIECE. Normal Indy, Mola Ram, and a thugee I think. Edited January 27, 2009 by MrCustomizer Quote

I still think that's the indian prince from the TOD, and he looks like he's holding something in his hand. Indy vodoo figure, maybe . No marcus in the chase set just another grail knight. oh, well, I still LOVE that new hair Quote

Quote
Tinn-man Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 oh and dont you think the fez piece will someday create a great jedi with a long head? YES!!!! had never thought of that, amazing. Really starting to like the planes, too. Indy's plane looks amazing, especially the back gun. I like the grave yard, too. You can see the platform that lowers and rises like in the movie, Mutt's bike, and the grave people have dark tan skin like the grail knights. The only other thing I wanted in this set was Mac, but I didn't think we would get him. I still love all of these sets, though. Quote
Canticleer blues Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) I'm definitely going to get the Graveyard set- cheap Crystal Skull plus new Motorcycle mold make it a must! I'm probably also going to get the Venice chase- sure, there's no Brody, but the design of the boats/ dock is great...and the figures are just as well-designed. The fez looks vey Lego-ish, though maybe it's just the stud on top. Even the fighter plane looks a little better. All in all, another great year for Lego Indiana Jones! Edited January 27, 2009 by Canticleer blues Quote
Hinckley Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I see that now. Only takes one person to correct me. :P-Omi From what I've seen, it helps to be thorough. Quote
skelliesgang Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Elsa looks gorge...I may have to give in and purchase an Indy set. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I'm not to impressed with the fez as it look like a slightly fat cone rather than an actual fez. The boat looks quite good thought. I'm disapointed with the monoplane in the fighter set I think that could be better the side open canopy just don't do it for me. Other than that I like what I'm seeing. Quote
DJ Force Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I LOVE that new hairpiece! And frankly, Elsa looks totally hot for a minifig! I guess I´m going to buy me that set, but I´ll get rid of the flesh parts, though. Quote
Sandy Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I LOVE that new hairpiece! And frankly, Elsa looks totally hot for a minifig!I guess I´m going to buy me that set, but I´ll get rid of the flesh parts, though. If I'm not badly mistaken, that hairpiece also comes in orange in the City-theme's camping trailer set. This year is sure magnificent on the female minifig front. We have a new Marion, two new Willies and a new Elsa in this theme alone, not to mention all the new females in Castle, Pirates and City. I have a feeling that after this year, female minifigs are no longer specialities in MOCs. Yay for minifig equality! Quote
Stauder Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Personally, I like it very much. The design is good, since one-man planes were blocky like that in the front. It looks pretty sturdy, too, and should be able to be swooshed around. The pilot does look like another Bruce Wayne, though... Unfortunatley it looks nothing like the real thing... A BF109 is waaaay less blocky. They pulled off the Bi-plane niceley, so why the blocky 109? Stauder. Quote
alex12 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Lego Jones rocks. The minifigs are awesome and Elza looks like the best yet and i loved their take on Willie. No more sets based on the new film though. Indiana Jones and aliens sucks big time. Should be laws against it. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) a new Marion, two new Willies and a new Elsa So far I'm counting one new Willie and one new Elsa (this year). Are you betting on a new Marion in the Cairo set and another Willie in the Temple of Doom? Edited January 27, 2009 by Mr Spielbrick Quote

I think Willie just has the 'hippy hairstyle' they gave Luke in the new Falcon, temporarily of course(for Willie that is). The Thuggee is flying through the air, but I can see what looks like Mola Ram's headpiece. I can't really pinpoint his location. Quote
