Surtur set is wonderful. I was hoping Hela would pop up in this set, but I don't even miss her now.

Love the Age of Ultron diorama set. Even if the minifigs aren't really anything new (still no leg printing for Cap), the overall set is quite well done. I wonder if the ending scene for Age of Ultron will ever get a diorama set featuring the new recruits like Wanda, Pietro, and Vision (especially since we need a new Pietro pronto).

I'm not a big enough GOTG fan to collect the sets but the Milano looks great. I can see why everyone's going crazy over that.

So, to my shame I am not a big enough nerd to recognise off the top of my head which Iron Man variants are in the new sets and if they’re new ones that I need for my Hall of Armour.

Sets look gorgeous! Not really a fan of the dioramas, but this is definitely the best one to date. Looking forward to the Iron Legion for army building, and definitely picking up Surtur.

Surprising to see the sets so soon, especially since we haven't seen June sets for most themes. Anyhow, this is definitely one of my favourite LEGO Marvel waves ever. The sets are absolutely spectacular.

Milano is incredible. Even better than Benatar, and that already was one of my favourite Marvel sets ever. I might have to sell it and exchange it for the new Milano. The minifigures are fantastic, really glad they've got leg printing. The interior has a lot of cool features.

Iron Legion vs. Hydra is fantastic too. The minifigures are awesome, and the build might be the best one we've ever gotten for a battle pack. It looks so well, and actually doesn't feel like a generic piece count filler.

Thor vs. Surtur is definitely my favourite from this wave, but only by a slight margin since it's based on one of my favourite MCU movies. The build is incredible, the figure is so well built. Two Fire Demons are unexpected, but they're a fantastic addition. The posable Mjolnir and the chains to attach Surtur's crown to Thor are incredible features.

Avengers vs. Leviathan looks awesome. The build is substantial and really well designed. Minifigures are all repeats, but I don't mind it since the set does a fantastic job of representing the battle.

Avengers Assemble is yet another incredible set. Probably the closest we've gotten yet to a Marvel diorama. The build works extremely well for a display piece, while the amount of minifigures is great and fills the build perfectly.

Then there's Potted Groot. The set is really well built, but the design is even more unsettling than the movie one (I've always found potted Groot from the end of GotG weirdly disturbing). It's mostly the mouth, which is thinner and differently coloured than the rest of his face.

Overall, six incredible 9–10/10 sets, and a single decent one. Yeah, that's probably my favourite LEGO Marvel wave of all time. Since 2021 I care half as much for Marvel as I did beforehand, but even now I find the idea of buying all those sets tempting (even though I'll just get Surtur and maybe exchange Benatar for Milano).

That Milano makes me very glad I held off on buying the Benatar for so long. It's not even my favourite ship but I think it may be the best one of these mini-UCS sets. It's beautiful. Shame Star-Lord doesn't have his helmet though. Still, definitely getting that one.

Overall it is a pretty solid wave. Although that diorama cover art does a pretty bad job of showing off the set. It looks so much better in the picture on the back.

Significantly underwhelmed with the new sets. Very repetitive if you have the avengers tower or have been collecting for more than a couple of years.

Milano is a cool large build but I personally don’t see the appeal when there were two other smaller versions. Minifig wise - Drax is ok and Potted Groot is cute. Star Lord is very meh - no mask.

Surtur is the only set I will get when reduced I think. Possibly pick up the iron legion for my avengers tower.

Overall very underwhelmed and hoping for some freshness going forward (not entirely legos fault with the current MCU slate being where it is). Roll on the X-Mansion.

Man those prices!

Maybe I'll buy the two smallest sets, but only with a good discount (22€ for four minifigs!!!)

I like the AoU Diorama and would buy it for around 50€.

The Milano looks great! When it drops to 120€, I could see myself buying it...^^

Minifigure-wise is what I think is the biggest weakness of these sets. It's more of the standard what we've been seeing for a couple years now.

I think Lego should also branch off of the usual main movies they've been covering. I'm surprised Captain America: The Winter Soldier has never had any sets dedicated to it. That was a very successful movie and still ranks as one of the best MCU movies to this day. It's even got several Avengers characters so it's not like they're taking a risk.

The only thing that bothers me about this wave is the lack of new characters (except for Surtur and his lackeys). The builds look stunning and the minifigs all got great updates!

Some notes:

  • Kinda funny how I would‘ve been through the roof a couple of years ago if we got an awesome Leviathan like this, and now it‘s not all that special anymore since we already got one last year in the AT with the same minifigs. Still, can‘t hurt to have another one and great for people who don‘t have the AT!
  • Love the terrain build in the AoU set, much cooler than anticipated and the new Hydra goons are much better than their precursors!
  • The „BP“ is really cool! Might be one of the best terrain builds we‘ve ever seen in a BP!
  • Loooooove the new Milano! Blows the 2014 one right out of the water and even gives the Benatar a run for its money! Nice to see the return of the Baby Groot piece and a grey Drax again. Too bad about Star-Lord‘s helmet, but I would‘ve been very surprised to see it return to be honest :shrug_oh_well:
  • The Surtur set is my favourite without question! Surtur works so well as a buildable figure, the fire demons are a welcome addition, and I love that it comes with the chain to represent both the scenes of Thor being chained up and him carrying back Surtur‘s helmet/horns/skull.

Both are the same (MK. 43), and have been made before in the original AoU wave.

Am I the only one who prefers the Avengers Tower's Leviathan? Even disregarding price and value proposition, the newer one just feels clunky - more like an alternate build using two of the old one than one designed to be a different scale from the ground up.

Figure selection doesn't particularly help it either, Hulk would be the main draw, but a pretty close version is in (imo) a better set in the same wave.

This new Marvel wave is one of the best LEGO out in years, but far from perfect.

Positive:

- Milano build is amazing, probably best non SW ship they made in ages!

- Leviathan is finally made at appropriate scale and looks great

- Iron Legion BP is awesome for the price point and minifigs

- Surtur build is great and fairly accurate to the character in Ragnarok

- New Iron Man MK 43 and iron legion drones, Hulk and Hawkey look great!

Negatives:

- All Guardians are still using same team suits from the final battle of the first movie! This is so disappointing considering we never got Gamora in her black suit before. And while the prints are generally good they seem worse than 2014 minifigures

- Plastic cape for Thor is unnecessary. It limits the choice of hair for him as only original 2012 hairpiece fits with new rubber cape. Early Ragnarok Thor needs Qui-Gon hair from Love and Thunder sets for accuracy. Plastic cape works for Dr Strange but doesn’t for Thor. Hope Lego abandoned plastic capes as cloth ones offer more options for hairpieces and just look better.

- Standard issue with reused faces. We had the same Tony Stark face since 2018 and it’s gotten old. We need new face for Superheroes line. Spider-Man 4+ sets got new Tony face before standard superhero line did. And same generic face for Hawkeye. They made pretty accurate Jeremy Renner face in 2015 why not reuse that face print? Penny pinching as usual.

- Also why is fat Thors face is reused again on younger Thor? It doesn’t work on his younger version and is lazy reuse on Legos part to save a few pennies. They could just reuse old 2017-2021 Thor face instead as it was great piece.

- Also new Ragnarok Thor is way worse than 2017 version which had leg prints and arm prints! Why in 2024 we get worse minifigs than in 2017?

- Cap still doesn’t have leg prints or dual molded legs. It’s such an easy fix for Lego, but they stubbornly refuse to improve this character.

- Some prices are ridiculous, especially Avengers diorama for 100$! I get big fig tax is a thing but at most it should be 80$!

It looks as though Tony finally has a new face if you see the pictures of the Iron Legion set

Edit: I now can't actually tell if it's different lmao

The picture is too blurry to tell for sure, but knowing Lego I’m confident it’s the old face.

Ashnflash made a good point about figures in the Milano. Said they could have included the collector as a figure. Or even a repeat of the Ronan from the rocket set. One more figure like that would really have added value.

For the surture: chest and face are prints, everything else (“crown” included) stickers?

The avengers diorama has 8 figs and a Hulk. It's kind of hard to tell how big the build is, but it seems to be pretty sizable too going off the footprint of that main area having around as much depth as the jeep.

Agreed, looks excellent. It's also by far the most "modern military" lego's gotten between the sandbags on that sentry tower and the tank traps. Not saying that's good or bad, just an interesting observation.

È lo stesso Iron Man in entrambi i set, vero?

Diorama has 613 pieces which nowadays Lego would price at around 70$ without Hulk bigfig. Which is good price considering all the minifigs. Bigfigs historically added around 10$ to the price of the set. Hence 80$ for this set would be a fair price. Lego has been raising prices a lot since 2022 but his one seems a bit too much. Not as egregious as 2023 Captain Marvel set though.

I'm very late to the party, do we have any idea of when the X-Mansion set will be officially announced?

I completely agree on Gamora, I was actually expecting her to have the black suit!! Such a missed opportunity. I just noticed Thor's cape. I love it but I agree his hair choices are minimized as a result. Also the inability to give Cap leg printing is odd. If they just made one good leg print I wouldn't mind them reusing it, even if it's not all too accurate for other movie appearances for him. Feels odd.

This new wave is... not that bad? But still sort of mid in some ways haha. Some thoughts:

  • Potted Groot - Easy skip, Baby Groot is the only buildable Groot I feel is worth getting.
  • Surtur Battle - Fire Demons make the set for me. Surtur looks great but can't help but feel we'll get a larger to scale build some day rendering this set useless. Feeling like I may hold off for a more "definitive" version as I really don't like having multiple of the same set (looking at you Harry Potter Great Hall), unless it's an X-Wing type set which should be army built in the first place
  • Iron Legion vs Hydra - I think I may pick this up. Needs more Hydra, though. Poor guy is getting jumped
  • Leviathan - too small and blocky, not up to current Lego standards I fear
  • Avenges Assemble AoU - Jeep looks great but I have Speed Champions for well designed cars, once I get the Tower all these figures will be rendered useless. Display is very busy and clunky. Not bad but not great, embodies mid
  • Milano - Eh, I have all these figures already, nothing new there. Interior is great but honestly the OG had great interior as well. I actually disagree with everyone, feel the Benatar was worth getting because it truly upgraded from the OG Benatar. This feels better, but also the same in many ways. Probable skip.

Overall not a bad wave, but still looking forward to more comic content. Sure the opening AoU scene, Surtur, and Leviathan have never been sets, but one is clunky/busy and the other 2 are under scaled, with all 3 being from movies we have already gotten sets for. It's like new content, in the context of existing content. Just make a Squirrel Girl figure please and I'll shut up. Bring back the Chima fox tail while you're at it.

Many of the sets look great, but I feel that Thor has drawn the short straw of all the Avengers in these sets (so rather like the films themselves I suppose)

I'm very happy that we're getting a proper road worn Thor in the Surtur set, but it needs the leg print from the previous Ragnarok version to improve it and the fact that Lego has designed a whole new piece for the cape, but didn't consider making it so it could fit the accurate hairpiece that they just recoloured in a recent set massively bugs me.

As for the Age of Ultron set, why is Thor the version from the first film?? The costumes are barely similar! I suppose now we'll have to wait for Dark World sets that will never happen for a proper version of Thor :hmpf_bad:

Alright, mini rant over. On a funnier note, there seems to be a discrepancy in the Avengers set between Hawkeye's arms on the box art and in the lifestyle pictures. The box art has him with sleeves whilst the lifestyle images show him without. Easy enough thing to change but it's strange nonetheless

The Milano is likely the only set I'd be tempted by, but a good bunch overall (personal gripes aside)

A very strong wave, all builds look good, and I even like the builds more than the figs.

I like the battlepack tower, set would be perfect with another hydra agent instead of Mark 45.

Leviathan set is great, and I like the new capes!

It releases in November, so the official announcement will probably be October.

Thank you :classic:

Very excited, although a little disappointed by only 10 minifigs, my favorite Nightcrawler most certainly won't be in it :cry2:

Just good news all around honestly, FalconFan1414 has also returned from the dead which is great.

  • Leviathan upscale is neat
  • Groot continues to look demonic, but the sunglass look works well
  • Surtur looks a little weird admittedly
  • Iron Legion set has a good build
  • Forest battle seems a bit crowded/muddled
  • Milano externally looks amazing need to see the interior

Have to wait for better images/piece stuff/instructions before deciding on them. Milano is tempting I guess.
