JohnTPT17 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 If it wasn't for the leak, this would have been the first real look at Gambit - so, why haven't they officially announced the Mansion yet?! As cool as some of those designs are, I'm also not going to get my hopes up. We got awesome looking Hydra goons and hipster Collector from Code: Red last year, and they never made it into official sets. Plus, as has been pointed out, Gambit's different, too.

poisonbricks Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Officially showing off a better design for Gambit than the one we will be receiving in a $330 set is really cool, thanks LEGO

I completely agree with you. Lego just knows that we’ll be buying so they cut back on the build (making it less complex and thus looking more simple/little kidstyle) and wants to make bad minifigs so we will yearn for better minifigs that they can release in the next twenty years. I say just go to the dark side. There are great substitute x-men from other brands. as for what kind of set could the x-men get beyond the blackbird or a sentinel? Maybe a mojo-set? Mojo could be buildable, we’ll get the Dazzler from that video trailer and hopefully also Longshot I do like that they are making a video about D-Man. A weird choice, but a funny choice. If he is going to be made we have almost a first suit daredevil
JeanGreyForever Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Gambit looks great in the trailer. What a pity the real minifigure doesn't look like that with dual molded legs. At least the hair piece is an easy swap. Dazzler was a nice surprise but I doubt we'll ever see an official minifigure of her. It is pretty sad that out of the 8/10 minifigures we've had a clear look at (not including Iceman and Bishop since they're both still pretty blurry), pretty much all of them are lacking and the cheapest versions of themselves. Only Jean looks more or less like she couldn't be improved. Otherwise no dual molding for Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Cyclops, and Magneto, and a rather lazily done Professor X. I guess Storm has the new cape so that's a plus in her favor but that's it. 23 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: No, you saw the dumpster, from about when you entered the theatre to a little before you left it. They could have easily printed blue on yellow and given us pretty near perfect legs for him. Instead, they made his legs solid blue with yellow printing. Including on the hips. Such a bizarre and terrible decision that could have so easily been avoided if they didn’t have bizarre and inconsistent rules about yellow legs. Lol, I should have understood that from the start. I didn't think it could get worse than the plain blue legs from the X-Jet set but this printing looks so shoddily done that they really shouldn't have even bothered. Will be needing Morph in the next CMF now more than ever so we can get a proper set of legs to replace these ones for Cyclops.

Never in a million years did I think that Lego would make a comic F4 set before the MCU versions/a comic Marvel set in general unless your name is Spider-Man, especially when the movie has been given so much importance. I just hope Ben's appearance in this isn't Lego getting my hopes up. Gambit's design is pretty much the same as the one from the Mansion besides dual molded legs and the BTS hairpiece instead of Han Solo's so Ben should be the same because it's perfect, like the LMSH 1 game design but slightly updated. Now I can't wait to see the rest of the Four.

It might be the only shot we have at ever getting a Kang minifigure.

But I know often that what we see in the Lego movies and shorts doesn't always end up manifesting into a physical minifigure so it's not a 100% confirmation either. Still, here's hoping. 1 hour ago, wesker said: They're really teasing us with that comic Vision. A much needed upgraded classic Thor although I doubt we'd get dual molded legs for him. Do you think Kang would show up in the Baxter Building? That's definitely another incentive for a comic version of the BB instead of an MCU version.

For a $60 set that already includes three other new minifigs, what are the chances they will make a new bigfig as well? I want them to, but Lego has been lazy/ cheap.

Theoretically, too, they could reuse torso and leg printing for Reed and Sue if they have the same suit and no powers applied (invisibility or stretchiness). Same with Johnny, but I think I might prefer him fired-up.

Besides the obligatory updated Doom (who probably should get an update as it's been 11 years and counting since his last set appearance) we could get other villains like Mole Man, Annihilus, Impossible Man, Puppet Master, comic Namor, the Skrulls/Super-Skrull, etc. On the allies side like how the Bugle got Daredevil, Punisher, Blade, Firestar, and Black Cat we could get the Silver Surfer to go with the Galactus set, a new comic She-Hulk, Bombastic Bag-Man, as well as civilian characters like Franklin, Valeria, Willie Lumpkin, Alicia Masters, and a brick built H.E.R.B.I.E. The potential for this set if they stick with it being comic based instead of MCU based is just too good to pass up. 4 hours ago, JeanGreyForever said: This does bode well for getting comic versions of the FF. Ever since I first saw the prototype Hulk big fig from the SDCC 2011 pics I knew that Ben was going to get the same treatment whenever the day would come where Lego would make an FF set. I know that Ben in the comics is usually slightly smaller than the Hulk, but Lego doesn't really have a middle ground between a minifig and a big fig, so a big fig is really the only option here. I'm usually skeptical about these movie exclusive characters showing up in sets too (looking at you Omega Red and classic Thor), but I've been a lot more hopeful after the leakers mentioned the Galactus set having a very high chance of being comic based. And personally, after seeing Ben in the trailer, that assumption just gained a lot more credibility so my fingers will be double crossed here. Edited October 12, 2024 by TheBatstan
Dr.Cogg Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Here are my thoughts on the 3 Marvel sets: Marvel Logo: An easy pass Airport Battle: Its a meh set, easy pass X-Mansion: First the good, the Mansion is a good build, the Sentinel is a good build and it has a good number X-Men. Now for the bad, Gambit, Wolverine, Magneto, Rogue and Cyclops all need dual molded legs, Professor X is just lazy, Lego should have given him a new head, Ceribro shouldn't look like an electric chair. I can't really say anything about Iceman or Bishop because there's no clear images of them. P.S. It's funny Lego went all out for the Battle Bus, but couldn't do the same for the Mansion.
benderisgreat Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Why do Lego designs minifigs in those D+ specials so well and when it comes to the sets they are so bad looking? New Cap Marvel has amazing prints and headband(for some reason), The Thing is finally a big fig! Not to mention how they give Captain America leg prints/dual molding yet Lego is too cheap to include it in a physical sets. The Superheroes theme has been cutting corners for years and it doesn’t seem like lego wants to change and make better minifigs…

I can't remember exact numbers, but the F4 set has a way more 'normal' price/piece, so I doubt it has a bigfig too.

I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole the other day looking at a particular brand of customs who make a few Axl-esque mid-size Marvel characters, and if Lego did anything like this particular seller, I think that would be the best option for the Thing (and most bigger characters tbh, big figs are way too big and static imo). However, if it's between a big fig and a regular fig, big fig is definitely the way to go - even if Ben is only meant to be six foot in the comics, he needs that bulk. 15 hours ago, JeanGreyForever said: It's a good sign.
