The Spider-verse set is definitely one I'll get. Glad they've finally caught on, hopefully when the 3rd one comes out it'll have sets from the word go.

Red Hulk's face with stache and the sunglasses is kinda hilariousĀ  and his torso could be useful for fantasy characters. But I don't really see much appeal in the set. It's nice that Anya is in another set (though I don't really have much of a connection to the character) especially as I thought the set would only have 2 figs like the Auto-Morb-ile did.

Overall though looking at next years sets for Marvel and DC it's nice to see a bit of a return to sets that aren't based on specific movies especially ones that aren't just for each themes heavy hitters (Batman and Spider-man).

Edit: reading back it's not Anya, sorry I'm a fake fanĀ  I am more a of DC guy really.

These are great, they actually feel like fun toys, which imo Marvel sets haven't really been for a while. Taking inspiration from comics, making fun models, and including new or extra characters where they didn't necessarilyĀ haveĀ to? I'm thinking if we keep going down this road, LEGO Marvel is gonna have a bit of a resurgence.

New sets look surprisingly good. Even Venom car is decent for what it is!

Iron man car is good, and new comic book version of Iron Man is actually great! BP looks like a reuse and new Red Hulk looks meh (hope his big dog looks better).

And we finally get Spider-Verse set! Miles looks good and Spot is surprisingly detailed. The build is alright but itā€™s nice to know we can get moreĀ Spider-VerseĀ sets in the future .

Now there's one question leftā€”is the Spider-Verse set a one-off, or will we be getting more? If so, I'll go bankrupt.

Especially when the last movie comes out, should we be expecting a full wave now? Can't wait to find out.

I like the new minifigs but (and i know, yeah, i repeat myself): why the plain legs?

Always those plain and dull legs. As if it is a necessity for Marvel Minifigs to dont have good-looking legs (except Iron Man)...

But hopefully there will be more Spiderverse Sets to come!

Because when they are drawn like in the x mansion everyone still cries because they wanted the double mold lol

Plain legs have one simple explanation Lego is penny pinching with Superheroes line. Barely any minifigs gets leg prints these days(except for Iron Man).

Which makes it all the more surprising when characters like the Spot or Lex Luthor get ones. You think they'd be easy to skip, but for some reason they managed to give it to them.

Given LEGOā€™s love for mechs, Iā€™m surprised they havenā€™t done Peni and SP//DR yet. The Prowler is my biggest want, though.Ā
Ā

A film-accurate Kingpin would be amazing, too.Ā

Thereā€™s got to be some in-house reason why they havenā€™t given us Peni and SP//DR. Itā€™s such low-hanging fruit that every year we go without them leaves me more and more baffled.

Anyway, new sets! Iā€™m almost annoyed by the fact that the Iron Man Car actually looks good. The same Iron Man variant comes in it, so now I need to decide if I need both the Car and Mech or just one or the other. Spider-Verse is absolutely a must-buy, even if it looks like the same Gwen weā€™ve been getting since 2018 and thatā€™s disappointing. Venom car . . eh. I have zero knowledge of Julia Carpenter so I canā€™t say Iā€™m particularly excited about her.Ā

Are we sure it's not that weird satin trans blue?

Thatā€™s what it looks like to me. Theyā€™ve used satin trans blue for Iron Man a lot recently, most notably in the 2022 Mech and as the Arc Reactor in the IW Hulkbuster remake. I like that colour a lot so Iā€™m actually excited for this recolour.Ā

Who else needs printed legs who doesnā€™t have them? Venomā€™s legs are plain black. Miles legs are plain black (except the soles of his feet which Lego canā€™t print on anyway). Black Panther has plain black legs. Miles dad doesnā€™t need printed legs. Iā€™ll give you that Red Hulk and Spider-Man should have had dual molded legs, but the majority of these plain legs are perfectly fine.

How 2025 will shape on the whole only the future can tell, but the January offerings have to be some of the strongest 1HY sets in a long time, across themes! :sweet:Ā Marvel, DC, HP, Sonic, Mario, and AC all have great sets lined up and the MC, SW, and JW stuff will surely includeĀ some notable highlights as well.

Itā€˜s rare to get sets for almost every single licensed theme in the same month (Fortnite being the only exception among the active non-18+ licenses I think), and on this level!

I don't think we can rely on the minifigures to accurately guess what the next modular is going to be. There's just too many options on the table. Based on what minifigures are available in 2025 you're already looking at:

  • Oscorp or Fisk Tower (Venom and Spiderverse sets) -Ā Seems most likely based on Jan characters
  • Avengers Compound (Civil War and Endgame dioramas) - Not many Avengers in Jan characters
  • Avengers Mansion (Comic Avengers sets) - Not many Avengers in Jan characters
  • Malibu Mansion (Iron Man 3 Hall of Armor) - Only one(?) Iron ManĀ in Jan characters
  • Baxter Building (Fantastic Four vs Galactus) -Ā Characters coming out later in year so maybe a tweak to pattern (Bugle had more characters come out in MarchĀ wave)
  • Daily Planet (Superman tie-in sets) -Ā DC so I don't think it'll impact Marvel modular at least at this time
  • Arkham Asylum (recently rumored with 5 BTAS and 4 comic book figures available for reuse) -Ā DC so I don't think it'll impact Marvel modular at least at this time (personally shouldnt be modular format)

Yeah of course but when has this forum been about accurately guessingĀ :laugh:Ā

The very loose pattern is normally minifigures that appear in January wave end up being in modular later in year.

Bugle characters appeared across 2 sets - 5 character/minifigures

Sanctum characters in Garangtos set - 2 characters/1 minifigureĀ (the most tedious of links granted)

Avengers Towers in Quinjet set - 5 characters/minifigures

X-Manison in X-Jet set - 4 characters/3 minifigures

It's all guess work based on a vague evidence but until theres more information to base it off, it's fun to use what little we have. Have commented on how your guesses match the "pattern" aboveĀ

It has to, right? I always assumed there was at least a perceived licensing issue by lego, but if they're allowed to throw an ATSV set out now, I can't assume anything would stop them from making tie in sets for BTSV

To be fair it is kind of needed for Spot's design.Ā

Ā

I feel like this wave alone doesn't give us a ton figure wise for guessing the next D2C. Oscorp is the most likely, since we have 4 spider-men and three villains for them to choose from, but Peter, Miles, Gwen, and Venom are pretty much always on shelves anyway. Anti-Venom and Julia Carpenter are a little more interesting (especially since lego's apparently immediately dropped the venomized villains idea) but not as obvious as if we had, say, a new goblin and jackal or something.

100% agreed. If you're only going to give printed legs to one character, Spot getting them makes the most sense - for everyone else, I don't think it's all that necessary.Ā

My pie-in-the sky dream is that we get multiple sets, if not a full wave, to release with the third movie. I wouldn't be shocked if the Spot set is going to be used to gauge interest in Spider-Verse sets and potentially greenlight more if it sells well. There's plenty of characters and locations they could pull from using just the first two movies to keep making more, if they so choose.

If you meanĀ marvel theme in general: Captain America, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther(he has detailed pants in movies),Captain Marvel, Spiderman villains(Green Goblin, Doc Ock). Basically a vast majority of Marvel characters especially those based on movies need leg prints. Iā€™m not sure how you can excuse such obvious penny pinching by Lego when it comes to Marvel theme. Leg prints should be a normality not a luxury for LEGO minifigs.

Iā€™m with you. IĀ think they do it on purpose so they always can improve a figure as bait for buying a new set (especially when that set is mediocre but expensive). They know we all are suckers for improved minifigs

I was strictlyĀ talking about the upcoming wave. Every figure who neededĀ leg printing got it.

One could argue then that arm printing is necessary for Miles' design, but you don't see him getting it.

They do it because it's cheaper not to print the legs.

I don't get the logic here- because one character needs arm printing, it's weird that another got leg printing?

As for January wave Black Panther needed leg prints, and Spidey needed dual moulded legs that he had in many sets in the past. And printed/dual moulded legs for Red Hulk

Shame Lego chooses to save pennies here instead of actually putting more effort into quality of the product. It barely costs them anything to print legs

Of course it is cheaper. The sets will sell, so why bother. PlusĀ youĀ can upgrade the minifigs in later setsĀ for collectors/fans so that they will buy thatĀ new set just to have the better version.Ā

Black Pantherā€™s legs are literally just plain black. No way he needs printing.

I agree on the dual molded legs for Red Hulk and Spider-Man. Donā€™t see why Red Hulk would need printing.

No, I'm saying that leg printing, dual-moulding, arm printing etc. are crucial to a lot of character designsā€”yet we don't always get it.

I was replying to you saying that Spot needs leg printing for his design. Well, a lot of characters do, but LEGO still usually chooses the cheap option of not doing that.

(Also, Miles was a bad exampleā€”confused arm printing with side leg printing, which wouldn't look good.)

The pic is blurry but knowing Lego BP is reused from CW airport set coming early next year. So that BP needs leg prints as he has intricate suit in Mcu including legs. For Red Hulk his pants are torn when he transforms so he should have torn pants print on dual moulded legs. Or just dual moulded legs still works.

I don't know why people are defending Lego for their shoddy treatment of Marvel minifigs and the lack of printing or dual molding on legs. Red Hulk is such a horrible minifigure and part of the reason is the lack of dual molded legs or any attempt to depict his torn pants.

The X-Men minifigures all look cheap and unfinished because of the lack of dual molded legs. The minimal printing they did for Cyclops is laughable. With both him and Magneto, they didn't even bother using different colored hips.
