Honestly I cannot believe that anyone doesn't think this set is overpriced. Compare it to the Natural History Museum if you like that better - yes that one's not licenced either, but it's way bigger and just looks way better, too. Or else compare it to other licenced sets like the UCS Burrow, the result's the same. I've seen the X-Mansion in person next to other sets, it's tiny and the back looks really cheap, all stickered panels. I know that LEGO like to increase prices for licenced sets, especially for Disney Princesses and Marvel, and blame it on licence costs. That might very well be true but it doesn't always mean they're worth the extra money (in my opinion, of course yours may differ) and it doesn't mean we as buyers should encourage it. If you always pay for what you get, you'll always get what you pay for. Or, if enough Marvel fans keep buying overpriced Hoopties and X-Men-Jets and X-Mansions because "licenced sets just are this expensive", don't be surprised when LEGO continue seeing what they can get away with during the next wave.

I'm responding to replies days late, but I do think most of the accessory ideas are kind of lackluster. Are they possible? Sure, but they fall into the category of "let's give this minifigure something" (ie. Echo from D+2 wave, Ms. Piggy from Muppets wave) as opposed to pieces that make the CMF complete (like Cap America from D+1, or any of the DnD figs).

It would be very cool if CMF takes a note from the Marvel Legends series' and starts including a piece from an extra fig or two or three in each set. Depending on how many extra pieces needed for the fig, it could be spread across 3, 4 or 6 figs.

That's an awful idea. The reason this works for Hasbro is because their toys aren't blind bags.

No one wants to end up with three Black Panther torsos and two Thor legs.

We thought they were doing that with the Sentinel in the 2nd cmf. Be good if they did it with Penni Parkers robot in the spiderverse cmf.

Funny how some fans constantly complain about "anti-consumer" moves with CMFs (like Mr Gold or the switch to cardboard boxes), yet other fans want them to introduce more of those :laugh_hard: I would not be a fan of CMFs including extra parts for another figure or build. Each CMF should be its own complete set.

I like the boxes now they have the qr code so you know what you get. I'll be buying a full set of the spiderverse cmf, so the more they cram in the boxes the better.

I don't think they will do an extra build across all boxes, but think it would be cool.

I want them to include the pieces of a highly desirable minifigure across multiple blind bags. Minifigure, singular. There’s only one head, one torso, one headpiece, and one set of legs produced and they’re hidden across the world so the only way this minifigure will ever be completed is for four strangers to put aside their own selfish interests and unite to combine their pieces together.

Love the new Spidey and amazing friends dino set! Plus Trapster!

Official pictures for the Iron Man mech have leaked.

Very happy with both the figures. Hopefully the comic based figures with a mech trend will continue.

I thought it was going to have a Spider-Rex not a Spider-Raptor so I could match it up against Venomosaurus. Thats an odd sentence to type.

Cute set for what it is though

Cool that there are new characters introduced in this subtheme, I will probably buy Trapster on BrickLink later down the line as I did Zola.  But I wish we could get non 4+ versions of these characters. It was bad enough with the Mighty Micros introducing Bizarro and Doomsday that have never made the jump to regular sets.

This is quite possibly the weirdest LEGO set of all time. And that's considering this year's Rebuild the Galaxy Star Wars wave. :jollyroger:

Clearly the Millennials who grew up reading Animorphs have now grown up and are working for Marvel...

Still, that Spider-man raptor is so goofy I might try to pick him up.

I was hoping for a Spider-Man T. Rex. Sigh. Oh well, this is still good. I’m just glad we’re getting the actual Stegosaurus Spin in addition to that awful dinosaur car thing. Looks like the dinosaur car chase is an easy skip because you get all three ‘Dino Suit’ minifigures and all three ‘Dino-fied Friends’ plus Raptor Goblin and Trapster with just the truck and treehouse sets. I can live with that. Raptor Goblin will be a great addition to my Green Goblin Gang.

Think they have given the designers a year off and just used AI

Same. Not really a fan of the mech itself, but I've bought the last two iron man mechs, and now that they've got two figs for $15 I'm pretty happy with it.

Just when you think you've seen all the weirdness, you realize they've mounted one of their enemies' heads in their base. In the 4+ set.

Those raptors are so wacky that I think I want them. Truly a strange timeline we’re in. We’ll have to see if this set comes with more dinosaurs than the Jurassic sets (if those are still coming).

The Iron Man mech is good for what it is, but the minifigures are great. Hopefully this trend continues, and hopefully Anti-Venom is as good as these two.

My favourite part is that the Green Goblin Raptor is inexplicably holding a sausage.

Actually not that inexplicable as it is Gobby's raptor. In Australia at least you don't get a nickname like Gobby without spending a bit of time holding sausages.

Is it Gobby's raptor though, or just Green Goblin *as* a raptor?

Yeah, it is Green Goblin as a raptor. I was more referring to the fact he is called Gobby in that show rather than the fact he is a raptor in the set. I can't help but laugh everytime they say Gobby but that is what happens when words mean different things in different countries.
In any case my original thought was it was supposed to represent a gem as the episode where he is a raptor he was running around with a red gem (my kid loves that episode). That kind of went out the door when I realised they would have just used a gem to represent a gem. So my head canon is now that it is just some Lego designer having a laugh at the fact he is called Gobby.

They had the opportunity to do the funniest shit ever, Venomized Spidey Raptor before Minifigure Venomized Spidey

Oooh i love those freaky dinos.
I have to look at Trapster once more when bigger pics are available. I want to make paste-pot-pete if possible.
what cartoon series is the dino timeline from?

Today i finished my X-mansion. And while it is indeed small, i kind of like and understand the scale now. Plus it fits seamlessly into my cabinet :-) Actually my biggest gripe is that because of the complete unnecessary modular baseplates, the whole set is very difficult to move. So designer wise i think that is the baddest choice they made.
I do think that because of the scale and the high price they should have given us more minifigs with it. The presence of chewing gum (Jubilee) and the sables of Nightcrawler in the dumpster feels a bit like a knife in our backs to say it dramatically.
