The Blue People from Avatar are 10’, compared to Colossus’s supposed height of 7’7”, though. Vader and Chewbacca are both significantly taller than other characters, but they are still rendered as normal Minifigs (with a bit of height boost due to a moulded headpiece or two-piece helmet); Avatar arms and legs for Colossus would work perfectly, since LEGO is pretty abstract anyway (as are depictions of comic characters - Wolverine is supposed to be 5’3 and Cyclops is around 6’1, but that is not how they look in ‘97!).
JeanGreyForever Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Colossus may be tall but he still has normal human proportions unlike the Avatar characters or Jack Skellington. Those super long legs and arms would look really disproportionate on him, especially as he isn't supposed to look alien or really skinny. As for the Thing, I'm in the bigfig camp. He looks superb in the Lego Marvel Super Heroes game and he's basically the same build as the Hulk.
psqidexslizer Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Glad the annual Quicksilver rumors are still a thing.

I never got the original set he came in, it'd be cool for him and Ultron's final form to get remade for the 10th anniversary of AoU. 18 hours ago, SEmrys said: If they incorporated more posability, gave their poor thighs a break and changeable parts the size would be more palatable. I'd still rather some middle option, but it would be a step in the right direction. I could definitely see Lego getting more mileage out of a new mid-fig mold than the current bigfig one. I think the main problem with bigfigs is the kind of personality that the pose conveys. It works fine for Hulk and Red Hulk, but characters like Thanos or Darkseid should be able to use a more neutral position.

BrickBob Studpants Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I‘m on the fence whether I‘d prefer a minifig or bigfig for the Thing as I could see both of them working. Thus, I don‘t mind the minifig rumour! Also, I‘m not surprised by there only being a movie-based set. As I‘ve pointed out before, the release date makes a lot more sense this way Still sad about the lack of Thunderbolts* sets.

I think D is less likely, but I could just be biased because I’d rather have a comic variant. C is not happening. Edited November 27, 2024 by psqidexslizer

While Pietro is probably better known for his ties to the X-Men at this point, Wanda is undeniably best known for her ties to the Avengers. Maybe we could get her alongside Vision in a Vision mech released around the same time Vision Quest drops as a loose tie-in. I doubt we’ll see Toad before better known villains like Mystique, Sabertooth, Juggernaut, Apocalypse, and Sinister finally make it into sets. As for Mastermind, I’d honestly just make a purist version because there’s a better shot of us getting a buildable bust of Howard the Duck than seeing him in a set.

hvader Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I’m late to the game… are we really not getting any Thunderbolts* sets? If I remember correctly we also didn’t hear any info about the Ant-Man and the Wasp set until the last second, and many of us thought that Lego wasn’t making sets based on that film
Felkin Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Thunderbolts* has the problem that its marketing isn't revealing some of the main characters because it's too much of a spoiler for the whole movie. While comics fans know who "Bob" is, and that such a colourful character & their alter ego might make for an awesome Lego set, Marvel has decided to market the whole movie as a Suicide Squad-esque movie about a bunch of baddies with guns... which doesn't play very well with Lego's values. If the MCU was still generating huge profits for them, Lego might be willing to ignore their child-friendly values a bit (look at their Star Wars theme, for example), but since many MCU sets have been shelf-warmers in recent years, a set with a bunch of unfriendly mercenaries and no baddie to fight probably didn't seem worth the production costs for Lego.

Considering Lego has been lacking in villains recently, I don’t think a set with some of the members in a limo or vault fighting each other would be a challenge for them. That said, I suspect you’re right that the focus on assassins and mercenaries may be the cause for a lack of Thunderbolts sets. At least, I hope that’s the reason and not a lack of interest in new MCU film sets. I hope now that we get most or all of the Thunderbolts in the Avengers sets. I don’t know how many sets we’d get for Doomsday, but I hope we get more than a set or two. I still think it’d be cool to get an Avengers: Doomsday CMF to expand the Minifigures lineup. brickbride Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) A leak of the Marvel logo including the box art is up at the usual place. The logo itself with the font looks okay, but the placement of the minfigs is too static for my liking and the pop-out feature is just silly. The target age grup is 12+. I'm having a hard time picturing a consumer who buys this. It's over 900 pieces so not for novices, and I'd expect an expert builder to routinely build "12+" sets at age 7 or 8, but what kid that age wants a logo instead of a cooler set with more play features like, say, the Spider-Man showdown? So that makes me think they're aiming for actual teens. But in that case the pop-out feature feels too gimmicky and childish - the same for adults. I wouldn't complain about it if it didn't detract from the set itself, but I do think the feature comes at the expense of less static, cooler looking figure placement. And of course, again, WHERE IS HAWKEYE? Also, Black Widow bursts out from the logo brandishing her gun at you, and is prominently pictured on the box art with it, too. Thor's magic hammer ist at least fantasy-based but given that Nat has no superpowers, LEGO seem to be endorsing some real-world violence here. Edited November 29, 2024 by brickbride
THELEGOBATMAN Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 So... to start with the good... The Spider-Verse set would be quite amazing—if it was 30€ instead of 50€. I still can't get over that price point, it's ridiculous. The builds are great and look fun (especially the PDNY car), and the minifigures are nice. Spot and Jefferson look awesome. I don't like the torsoprint for Miles, they really made it way more detailed than it needs to be. I would just skip the dark blue, it ruins the simplicity of the suit. Now, let's talk about Gwen... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT HAIRPIECE AND THAT FACEPRINT?! They literally have a perfect hairpiece for her, and they decided to go with... this, instead? The faceprint also looks completely off, especially next to Miles' more cartoonish one.
lego_guyon02 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) So let me get this straight: - Gwen has the most common and inaccurate head and hair reuses imaginable for her unmasked look, yet they waste budget on yet another dumb gimmick web piece. - Black Widow is reused in 2 sets this wave for the 4th and 5th time respectively and yet they cheap out and remove her armprinting. - Sanctum Spider-Man is reused in the Civil War set and yet they cheap out and remove his legprinting. - Winter Soldier gets black hair for some boneheaded reason and somehow becomes the first Winter Soldier EVER to not have a printed arm??? - They reuse the IW/EG Scarlet Witch figure for the Civil War set (understandably) but then can't even be bothered to switch out the hairpiece for something accurate to Civil War? - Our first TDW/AoU Thor torso in a decade (that already should've been made for the AoU set this year) gets ruined with some bad looking lightning. - Our first ever WWII Captain America gets an excellent torso design but the whole figure is the wrong color. This wave is so insanely bad and representative of the current state of the theme that it's almost funny in the most gutwrenching way imaginable. My god this theme is in the gutter EDIT: Thor is based on Infinity War and I'm not sure if that's just as bad or even worse Edited November 29, 2024 by lego_guyon02
THELEGOBATMAN Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Oh, yeah, and there's also the Marvel logo... definitely a set of all time. I absolutely hate it. Why anyone would pay for this is beyond me. It's a red box with a few letters. The minifigures look boring, same old same old. The display option is ridiculously bad. It looks hilariously awful, despicably horrible. Just plainly laughable. Then there's also the Airport Battle. Again, it looks bad, and completely not worth its price. The display is tiny, and the Quinjet is like a miniature, completely out of place. Giant-Man looks bad, especially the head. The minifigures are all downgrades. Captain America is still the Age of Ultron version. Black Panther is super plain. Wanda looks bad—the faceprint and the hairpiece don't work at all, and no skirt looks poor. Spider-Man has no leg printing. And Bucky, for some reason, is the Winter Solider version, not the Civil War one—and a poorly done one at that! No arm printing, which is crucial for him, and the hair is black... why? 12 minutes ago, lego_guyon02 said: EDIT: Thor is based on Infinity War and I'm not sure if that's just as bad or even worse Worse—because if he really is, why isn't his hair short and why does he still have Mjölnir?

Now give us your $100! "
THELEGOBATMAN Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I truly hope the Fantastic Four set doesn't have the quality of those sets, because otherwise... it's gonna be a really sad day. This wave is ridiculously bad. The Spider-Verse set is the only decent one, but I'm obviously biased towards it—the price is still unacceptable, and Gwen's head and hairpiece are awful.

I was so angry about him not having armprinting and having black hair for some reason that I hadn't even noticed that he's based on the wrong movie. This wave isn't even just abysmal at this point, it's simply embarrassing and deeply sad.
benderisgreat Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 New sets are mixed mag as always. - Spiderman Mech Vs Antivenom is ok mech and Antivenom looks great, but why is it the same old Spidey when mech is clearly based on Ps4 Spidey game? - Venom car is whatever, Lego just can't go a full year without making random Venom set. - Spider-verse set is good, but the price is just too much plus Gwens face isn't accurate at all. - CW set is a prime example of Marvel sets cutting corners: Bucky doesn't have printed arm and has inaccurate face and torso. Wanda lacks skirt piece again and has inaccurate face, BP looks too plain, BW and Cap reuseold torsos, most of the piece sgo into buildable Giant Man and airport itself looks too small. Iron Man is the one good figure here. Lego is just way too lazy with Marvel theme, the need to do better. - Marvel logo set looks ok, but the figuresare a mixed bag. WW2 Cap is amazing, but the rest of the figures are either lazy reuses or just terrible. Not to mention lack of Hawkeye especially since set is Mcu based.
