Swordy Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 It’s exciting that this information is being confirmed, although it changes nothing about the set to me. Fantastic Four is Fantastic Four is Fantastic Four. Galactus is going to feature a comic-accurate look in the movie anyway, so all this changes is the look of the FF’s suits, which doesn’t matter in the end since it’s still the FF’s debut thirteen years in the making anyway. Glad to know that Galactus is larger than a Sentinel, although the wording makes it sound like it wouldn’t be a up-scaled figure like I had hoped. 1 hour ago, squiz18 said: Is it possible to learn this power? Buckethead Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 So either its comic-based, in which case the one MCU set could likely be for Thunderbolts, or there was a mistake and Fantastic Four is the MCU set. I just finding surprising that after 12+ years, Lego is finally making the Fantastic Four, which coincidentally coincides with a Fantastic Four film, but its not based on the film. I'm happy either way, but something's not adding up. I've also noticed that Lego Marvel sets don't typically get more than 5-6 Minifigures per set, so if the MCU set is Thunderbolts, we may not get Sentry (and maybe Taskmaster). If it's Fantastic Four, I can see us getting all four and maybe Silver Surfer.

It does make a difference in terms of how the figures will look. In the movie, the Fantastic Four have their white and blue suits. Their costumes have horizontal lines on the chest, white arms, and much more detailed belts than in the comics. Being comic based means the designs will be simpler and it opens up the possibility for the more recognizable blue and black costumes. We haven’t gotten a good look at Galactus in the movie, but from what we have seen his color scheme appears to be very muted, which isn’t all that surprising since the MCU tends to do that with most character designs.
JeanGreyForever Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 If this is a comic-based FF/Galactus set I'm all in. I didn't even bother looking up the rumors since I figured it was an MCU set but a comic version changes everything. The FF have long been overdue. This set will go very nicely with the Daily Bugle and X-Mansion. I wonder if we might get a Fantasticar to go with the FF. I'm also wondering the decision to make it a comic set is because the Lego developers really want a comic-book based Human Torch minifig to go with Spider-Man in the Daily Bugle. We know Iceman and the Human Torch were both on the shortlist but rejected. Now Lego has managed to make sure we'll get Iceman, even if he doesn't technically belong in an X-Men '97 set, so wondering if this is why the FF set is going to be comic-based.

I wonder if this opens up the possibility for a comic based Baxter building as next year’s D2C. There’s certainly more opportunity for figures with a comic based version than a movie based version (Dr Doom, Spider-Man, Namor, Super Skrull, Mole Man are all character that could be thrown in for a comic set that wouldn’t work for a MCU based set). Oh I would love that. I think it's a safer bet too because why make such an expensive D2C on a building from a film that may or may not be well received, especially when Marvel's on a such a downward slide. We got so many playscale Avengers Towers sets before we got the D2C version and that was despite the Avengers being a tried and tested franchise. Same with the Sanctum Sanctorum which only got a D2C after multiple films and one playscale set. I can't imagine there would be all that many minifigs that could be used in an MCU Baxter Building anyway. The comic version opens up endless possibilities. Besides the characters you listed, they can also include Franklin Richards, Valeria Richards, Hulk, She-Hulk, Willie Lumpkin, Iceman, Annihilus, the Wizard, the Puppet Master, Alicia Masters, Electro, Sandman, Klaw, Black Panther, the Inhumans, etc. There's a much greater variety of characters they can pull from.

If Spider Man can't even feature Electro in his comic book sets, what chance do the Fantastic Four have at including him? We know two of those sets are Endgame Final battle and Hall of Armor and then one other is for a movie. So that’s 3/16 accounted for. In the past few years we’ve gotten 6-8 legacy sets per year and we already have 3 accounted for. So let’s say another 5 of those are legacy. We typically get 3 buildable figures, 3 buildable objects (we already have the logo, so let’s say another 2). and 3 D2C sets (split between Marvel and DC). That’s 13. So, barring additional sets, I’m guessing that’s gonna be the rough breakdown for the rest of the year with maybe a couple of those legacy sets going to Superman. So we now know 76312 is the Hulk Monster Truck, 76315 is the Hall of Armor IIRC, 76316 is the comic F4 set, and then two of those numbers are the Endgame Final Battle and a movie set (either F4 or Thunderbolts). With the other 11 sets, you're probably right on the money on the guesses: 3 buildable figures, 1 advent calendar, 2 more buildable objects, 1 4+ set, at least one D2C, an X-Men vs Sentinel set hopefully, and 2 more Legacy sets should be able to make the last half of 2025. We know with the Daily Bugle that Lego created minifigs who they could reuse in smaller sets to make the new molds economically feasible. I could see a comic accurate Electro popping up in more Spidey sets if he was included in the next big D2C set, whether it's the Baxter Building or Oscorp Tower.

Quoting myself because of a thought I've just had: What if the fifth minifig for the logo is Clint (not Fury or Banner), and the Hulk's an extra (big)fig the leaker just hasn't seen?

I don't mind if the movie does get skipped next year. Knowing that the Fantastic Four will be returning again soon for the upcoming Avengers sequels means that MCU variants of the characters are inevitable. At the end of the day I'm just happy that the team is finally coming to Lego. Galactus is a great start and if we also end up with the Fantasticar and Baxter Building by year's end I couldn't ask for anything more.

Yes, but they will have different costumes and some important characters may only appear in First Steps We also thought we‘d see Kang in a future set after Quantumania got the short end of the stick and look how that turned out!
thebricksbear Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 I don't buy the leak at all. F4 vs Galactus being comic based, sure, it makes sense that they'd start seeding F4 merch ahead of the movie. But 3 movies, one of them being one of Marvel's most popular IPs, and they're not going any sets? I doubt it. We never get winter leaks this early anyway, why would we take that as gospel now?

Brave New World is getting sets (the overpriced jet and I assume the Buildable Sam Cap) in December, so the other movie set for 2025 is either F4 or Thunderbolts. Also, we usually get winter leaks around Late Summer/Early Fall.
Buckethead Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 When do pictures of the Captain America set release? I know there's been a pattern of set pics releasing a month before release, but Lego doesn't typically release Marvel sets in December (at least not that I can recall).

Yes, that was the explanation given for why MJ isn't in the Daily Bugle set. Because the MCU version also existed in sets and it would confuse people...only why can Peter Parker/Spider-Man exist in the Daily Bugle set if the Tom Holland Peter/Spidey is also in those MCU sets then? My guess is that either Marvel's dislike for MJ made them tell Lego not to include her. Or they wanted to cement the Zendaya portrayal as the real version of the character so they won't allow merchandise for the classic MJ.
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Ok, there's actually a few updates on the Galactus set. For transparency sake, I'm getting this from the Brick Tap discord, from members LDF10 (lego_minecraft_goat?) and its joever. It might actually be based on the movie, just that the design is similar enough to the comics to confuse someone who saw it. The set has <450 parts and The Thing is a minifig, not a big fig. There is also no fantasticar included, meaning most of the parts go towards Galactus himself. As for some personal speculation, with that part count I suspect the set will be very similar to the buildable figures we've been getting, but it still has more parts than most of them, so maybe it's a bit bigger or more intricate? It could be more like the Iron Man one from 2022, since that one has more parts than the others we've been getting. I personally wanted bigger (think Monkey King Mech and Cole's Titian Dragon Mech size) but this scale would be good enough for me. Thing being a minifig doesn't annoy me that much since he isn't too huge in the film anyways, from what we've seen so far. Hopefully Silver Surfer is also included. Very excited!
