Rwbricks Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 (edited) Yeah, that airport battle is not it. Two years ago, the Ant-Man construction figure came out for $30. So the base, the wall, the small Quinjet from the Tower, and eight minifigures are $70? I was hoping to like this set more. The logo is okay for what it is. The minifigures don’t seem very well incorporated with it, and Hawkeye should have been there for the price, but the other new minifigures are welcome. Also, Thor has a fabric cape in this set, not the rubber one! Still, though, it’s an expensive box. The X-Mansion looks great. The modularity of it with the disconnected rooms is interesting. Bishop looks unfinished in that first image, but I also can’t see any details on Iceman or Jean’s face, and as mentioned, he does look better in the background of the Sentinel image, so hopefully it will be fixed. EDIT: I didn’t see Bucky(?) in the Quinjet at first. Edited October 10, 2024 by Rwbricks
benderisgreat Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 New leaks are definitely something else. X Mansion looks amazing, the figure lineup could be better, but stills lot of good ones. The build of the mansion itself is really good and would be amazing display. The Sentinel itself looks wonky to me though. Civil War battle is a huge disappointment! It's 8 years since the movie came out yet the 2016 set is better version of the scene even if it was base don concept art!!! How is it possible?! Figures look ok, the pic is too blurry to judge msot of them, but Wanda once again comes without cloth skirt, when Lego included it in previous sets... Why are they so inconsistent with cloth pieces these days? Like it's already being produced for Avengers Tower set, why not include it here? The build is also very weak when it comes to the airport. Ant-Man looks alright but I'd prefer if they made him in the same big minifig style as 2016 instead of the action figure like 2023 one. And the Quinjet is so bad, why did they even include it here if it's so downsized and looks like chibi version? Overall build wise bad set, minifigs wise to early to tell, but knowing how Lego loves cutting corners I wouldn't be expecting miracles. As for Marvel logo it's basically what I expected it to be. Maybe there's some hidden function there, but it's mainly a display piece. Figures are too blurry, but Cap definitely has his WW 2 suit! Finally we get this version of Cap! Not sure which version of Thor this one is based on as well as Black Widow. Hulk looks a bit too plain. Btw why isn't there a new Hawkeye? Why not include all 6 main Avengers in this set? Seems like a weird omission. Also no Stan Lee, which is understandable, but still disappointing to not include the man behind Marvel here.
JeanGreyForever Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 The X-Mansion looks great. Can't wait to see more of the interior even if the Danger Room looks a little cramped. The minifigs are really badly done though. Xavier should have been in green. They didn't try at all with Wolverine, Magneto, Gambit, and Cyclops' legs. That's not such a problem with Wolverine since the CMF figure exists but the others look so cheaply made as well as Rogue. I have no idea what's going on with Bishop but in another pic, he seems more detailed. I do like that Jean has pink power effects instead of blue from the show. Was hoping Iceman would have an ice slide though. The Civil War battle set seems really disappointing especially after the original set. Not a fan of how they constructed Ant-Man. The Marvel logo set isn't all that inspired either. 6 hours ago, psqidexslizer said: TheBrickReporter has an image of how the Mansion splits apart. You can sort of make out the room. Looks like a main hall bottom center, library bottom right, mission room top center, medical bay top right, and danger room on the left. And behind the library is a reference to the 2019 Dark Phoenix film. What's the Dark Phoenix reference?

Lego Nostalgia Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 There better be yellow dumpsters behind the X-Mansion
hikouki Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I am in with most everyone… build of the structure is great. Minifigs should have been better. I think that the building overall may appease x-men/ marvel fans as well as some modular fans. Sentinel build is a vast improvement from the previous, although still a bit anemic.
Fenghuang0296 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Can anyone identify the Iron Man variant in the logo? Instagram’s been buggy for me and I can only see blurry pictures.
JeanGreyForever Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Cerebro is a really big disappointment. I was expecting a new molded helmet like how it looks in the show. I understand the actual wires/plugs might have been too difficult to incorporate but considering how iconic the Cerebro helmet is, it shouldn't have been asking much to get a new mold for it. Online, I'm seeing people say the Cerebro we did get looks like a lampshade lol.

They could have easily printed blue on yellow and given us pretty near perfect legs for him. Instead, they made his legs solid blue with yellow printing. Including on the hips. Such a bizarre and terrible decision that could have so easily been avoided if they didn’t have bizarre and inconsistent rules about yellow legs.

What were they going for with the pylons instead of transparent parts? Why bother including Hulk if he was going to be a minifigure if you're going to leave out Hawkeye anyway? Which leaker looked at the hulk and went "yeah, that's Nick Fury if ever I saw him"? 1 hour ago, JeanGreyForever said: Oh okay, I've only seen the movie once so I have zero memory of a dumpster. No, you saw the dumpster, from about when you entered the theatre to a little before you left it. My thoughts: The X-Mansion is fine. The build looks pretty solid. The figures are kind of lackluster- they wasted a print on cyclop's legs to make the figure look somehow worse than before, Gambit and Jean are going to be peternaturally pale, Bishop should have been Kitty or a villain, etc. I like the X-men, but for the price they're asking this had to be really good, and it's just fine. The airport battle is a definite skip for me- these diorama style sets have been real 50/50. Loved NWH and am eying that AoU set, but wasn't a fan of their endgame debris tower thing and this is looking like another skip. I get what they were going for with the Quinjet, like a forced perspective, but it looks weirdly chibi which clashes with the overall goal of the set as a display piece. The figure selection is also not the best- I'm glad we got as many as we did, but I think BP should have been war machine. The set as a whole also just feels kind of cramped, and the airport battle was very spaced-out, so despite my love of civil war this one's a skip. The marvel logo would have been an excellent $20-40 set of just the logo with, like Kevin Feige or Stan Lee or something. This set is much thicker than it needs to be, which is seemingly to fit in some sort of play feature to have the figures pop out of the logo, which is a really weird choice because no child is buying a marvel logo set to play with. I've also posted before about my dislike of the general lineup- now that Hulk and Widow are confirmed instead of the earlier Fury and Scarlet Witch rumor, it's a little better since they're going for founding avengers, but still. Being just the Marvel logo, and not Marvel Studios, I would have liked to have seen a lineup like: Spider Man, Mr. Fantastic, Wolverine, Daredevil, Captain America. Even for marvel studios, if you aren't going to commit and do the actual founding 6 avengers (Seriously. This set is almost entirely basic bricks. Would hawkeye have really busted up their budget that much?), why not do the big three alongside, like, black panther and spider man or something?
Borex Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 The Marvel Logo is a bit weird. I agree with y’all the minifig selection is not good. First off, why only five figs? Because of the pop-up gimmick i guess? Marvel has so much characters, epic characters, why leave them all out and give us a few avengers? Leaving out a lot of Avengers as well. I heard people talk about founding Avengers, but those five would be: Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Giant Man and Wasp. And if they went for those five i would have respected that choice (and even applauded if they were comic accurate). This set needs just a whole bunch of figs (with a good selection of all famous heroes and villains just like those jam-packed posters), or some prominent Marvel creators (Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita) or maybe a few classic legofied comic covers on tiles to go with it. 5 hours ago, JeanGreyForever said: Cerebro is a really big disappointment. CF Mitch Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Yes, finally some pictures! I have to say, i don't entirely agree with the coloring of the mansion But other than that, the set looks amazing! They cheaped out on some of the minifigures, yeah, but the way the build can disassemble and (from what we can see, so far) the rooms look great! About the Marvel Logo set... is that really a WWII Cap? Doesn't exactly look like it... But I guess that was a long shot, in any case. Regards, Mitch
Undi3sss Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 I know there’s a huge list of X-Men characters people want that haven’t already been made, that would fit into the mansion set, but for me Beast feels like the weirdest exclusion here. We have all the labs inside but the scientist isn’t there?.

poisonbricks Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Okay, so, this is gonna be a long one, I've gathered my thoughts on the X-Mansion as we've seen it so far. Overall, the theme here for me is that this is definitely a good set, but it's really not great. For the building itself, before I get into the figures, it broadly gets the point across, but it's super disappointing to me how simplistic the majority of the build is. The slope-on-slope roof construction and the very simple attempt at the detailing around the rake of the roof, just with hinge plates and tiles, makes it feel more like a build in a 9+ facade playset that's been stretched backwards. Not that the Marvel modulars are ever quite up to the standard of the Icons Modular Buildings Collection, but this one doesn't really even feel like an 18+ set in any regard aside from its size and price. Take the Natural History Museum set - sure, it doesn't have to use the A-frame roof design all the way around, but the section at the front with the angled tiles is SO much more refined than the X-Mansion manages. I'm sure there would've been a way to do something similar here, but as it stands, this looks like a painfully simple build experience for such an expensive model, that's meant to be primarily for adults :/ There's also the matter of how small the build actually is on its baseplate... in the name of having a yard, it's about twice as far back from the edge of the baseplate as most other modulars, even further back where the building itself gets thinner. The interior looks cramped as a result. I know they wanted to include the dumpster and the alley for consistency, but is it really needed? So much space is taken up by basically nothing. Makes me wonder, will Xavier even be able to fit in many of the rooms? It's meant to be his building! Complaining aside for a second, what IS in the interior space looks pretty good (not you, Cerebro.) - the classroom with Beast's 'First Class' is very cute, and it looks like that blackboard/screen area can lift or slide out of the way to view the stickered tile behind it? The Danger Room is something I didn't even think they'd attempt, and while it's a shame that the Sentinel definitely can't fit inside, it seems like it spans two storeys, and the swappable panels are a cute idea. The dreaded Marvel elevator appears again, but I think it was maybe the most necessary here out of any of these sets, given how little space there is to work with. We can't see much of the lab, but it looks competent enough. We get more very small looks at a library and the foyer of the building, and both again look fine. The Sentinel looks really good! It's not perfect or anything, but I think it is as good as it could be without being the focus of a set by itself. The printed elements look great, and its robot tentacle thing to catch mutants with is a fun parts usage. I hope it (or a similar model) gets a standalone release, similar to the Thor vs Surtur set, kinda like how the Leviathan got its own set after the Avengers Tower. And now right back into complaining... where's Beast? It seems like literally an entire level (out of only two levels in the set!!!) is taken up by a lab, so why isn't he included? No Beast with no pipes for him to walk around upside down on is a real shame for an X-Men lab. Especially confusing when LEGO designers have basically spoken about bleeding figs in from other products as free inclusions beforehand. Sure, he wouldn't have been exclusive to the CMF anymore, but is that a big deal? Especially when he's so crucial to the operation of the X-Mansion in TAS/'97 (and just in general). The minifigures in general are just confusing. Why is there no dual molding... anywhere? Rogue, Cyclops, Magneto and Gambit all could have really used dual molded legs, and I don't understand why they don't have it. Is it especially expensive to produce these parts? Not that it should matter in a $330 set... Iceman is cool to have, but he's clearly only here because Mark wanted him in the Bugle and couldn't make it happen. Him replacing an actual prominent '97 character is a real shame - take Morph, who has exactly the same leg design as Cyclops!! They could've put more effort into those legs and spread the cost of production across two minifigures who both use the element. If Iceman just has to be here... include Angel too, and throw in Beast. That's the First Class finished. As it stands, we have a worse Wolverine than the one most people already have, a worse Storm in basically every regard aside from that printed cape, Cyclops who I don't really think is made any better by the awful new printed legs, a Rogue reuse, a terrible purist Xavier, a Magneto and Gambit who both are really missing out on leg detailing that they should've had, a fine enough Jean, and then Bishop and Iceman, who we can barely see. Rough. I understand that LEGO can only have so many prints per year per theme, but: 1. Dual molding is not a print. 2. They are wasting so many prints, constantly, on making endless variants of the MCU Avengers who are all being produced concurrently. We do not need versions of Captain America from AA, TFA and AoU. We do not need versions of Thor from Ragnarok, AA and now whatever his suit in the Marvel logo is meant to be. Pick an Avengers movie to be the Infinity Saga line's focus, and stick with it until set ideas are exhausted. We keep going back to old movies but never actually getting to characters who were skipped over because it's just the Avengers again and again. If any lineup of minifigures in this theme could've really used some extra attention, it's the X-Men. I hoped that with only 10 figures in a set THIS big, they'd put their all into them, but I guess not. I can only hope that there's a Sentinel set and a third Marvel CMF in 2025 with some serious representation for X-Men '97. Nightcrawler, Morph, Jubilee, Sunspot, maybe some actual villains? Bastion, Mr. Sinister? The thing that concerns me a little is that beyond the Blackbird, Mansion and a Sentinel, there isn't really that much that's crazy iconic to the X-Men that'd make for a good set. I really don't want to see another LEGO X-Men dark age after this, the thought of one 'Wolverine motorcycle battle' set every five years is a scary one. I'll still get it, I'm a giant (-size) X-Men fan and this set will always have been exciting to me regardless of how well-done it is, but it's not the day one must buy I'd hoped. It's full of a lot of half-measures and compromises, which is really a shame.
psqidexslizer Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) I agree with a lot of the criticisms for the Mansion, I like it, I think it looks good, but there’s three things I would have done differently (and they’re all probably corporate meddling rather than decisions made by the designers). 1. I don’t think this set should have been a modular styled building. The Xavier Institute is not a building on the city streets. It’s in the middle of the country. The sidewalk out front does not make sense. And the issues with the cramped interior all stem from trying to tie it in with the other modular buildings while trying to make it look like it’s in the country. I get why Lego probably wanted it to continue their modular line, but it would have been better as a standalone building like Rivendell. 2. The Sentinel should have been released separately as a set over the summer. Not only would that have freed up more parts for the mansion, but also, they could have spread the figure budget out more. Again, this was probably a decision by the higher ups not to release more than two X-Men sets this year. 3. Cyclops should have had yellow legs instead of blue. If they’re not going to give him dual molded legs, at least get the boots and trunks the right color. It would have been cheaper too since they wouldn’t need to print yellow on the hips. And, again, this seems to be a result of Lego’s bizarre and inconsistent rule about yellow legs. On a more positive note, I disagree fully with the criticism of Xavier. Yes, he’s purist. But that doesn’t mean he looks bad. Frankly, I think he looks great. Jean also looks great. Magento’s torso looks like it’ll be an improvement over the 2012 just because they actually remembered his belt this time. The new cape for Storm is great. Most of the minifigures look great, with only the legs holding the mixed bags back (not you Rogue. You need the CMF treatment stat). Now, as for the line itself, I think the Legacy sets might have been the worst thing to happen to the theme. The sets have been hit or miss (I’d argue more miss), they haven’t delivered much that’s new (how many Endgame Final Battle dioramas can they possibly make?), and it’s seems to be preventing them from exploring anything new. This year we got two X-Men sets. Next year, they’re not even covering all the movies. If it weren’t for the mechs and the Fantastic Four set, we wouldn’t be getting any new characters. I’m sure the downfall of the MCU hasn’t helped matters, but if we’re gonna be stuck with sets based on phases 1-3, is it too much to ask for them to cover something new instead of just remaking old sets with mixed results? It’s sad when DC is shaping up to deliver a more diverse lineup. As far as X-Men, I think there’s a lot of potential for future sets. Just based off the first season of ‘97, we could get: - buildable Sentinel - Sinister’s Lab - Motendo battle - Shiar spaceship I’d also love to see them do a X-Mansion in the same style as the modular Harry Potter Hogwarts sets we’ve gotten over the past several years (same thing with Arkham, but that’s for another thread). And, of course, there always mechs and cars like Spider-Man and Iron Man seem to get despite it not making any sense. Edited October 11, 2024 by psqidexslizer
psqidexslizer Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) I wonder if this is a tease for what The Thing looks like in next years set. Gambit is also in this. Lego_ofme Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Gambit in the avengers mission demolition is fantastic. Shame we won’t get those legs but I will be certainly swapping the hair to match the trailer.
