I was questioning before how you could make a modular of a mansion that was 1.000 pieces less than the museum and somehow also included a large side build (the Sentinel). Now we know the answer is "You can, but it won't look good" :-( . I really think they skimped out on the piece count for the mansion so they could build a Sentinel, as well as have space in front for a battle. If they made this building much bigger albeit more expensive, I would still buy it for lack of alternative X-Men sets out there. I wonder if after this set, Lego would design more robust sets moving forward. I really do think that Sentinel is scrawny.
Rwbricks Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 So if all of the leaks thus far are to be trusted, we’re getting two different Fantastic Four sets for $60? I know that the Galactus one is unconfirmed as to whether it’s movie- or comic-based. Still, potentially getting two playsets in the same theme based on (potentially) the same sub-theme for the same price only two months apart feels weird. For the X-Mansion, I agree that it feels too small, especially compared to the height and the depth of the museum. The depth is likely just due to the inclusion of both the lawn and the sidewalk, which is unfortunate. Theoretically, the mansion itself only needs the lawn, but the sidewalk needs to be there for it to fit with the rest of the modulars, so here we are. The height, though, feels like a different issue. To me, the building as it is looks about proportional to the image from ‘97. Simply adding another floor won’t help; the whole building would need to be modded in order to make it appear similar to the source, as the front entrance and windows are at the halfway height. I think making the footprint 32x32 instead would have allowed them to scale it up a bit, where the building is more in scale with the rest of the modulars while still proportional to the source. That could also allow for the addition of the missing rooms, most notably the war room/proper Cerebro room and Xavier’s office. This scaling might be achievable combining two of the set, but as it is, I’m currently leaning towards getting one and potentially selling the Cerebro GWP to make back some of the cost. Speaking of the Cerebro GWP, I was partially excited by the fact that Jubilee seems to have an existing hair mold, as that seems more realistic for LEGO to do if they have plans to actually make her. If she’s in the CMF, though, a new hair piece with the goggles should be included.
hikouki Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 With the potential set costing about $60, I wonder if the Galactus build will be quite similar in size/ piece count to the Sentinel build.

I hadn’t thought of that and I don’t want to. If he’s only as big as that Sentinel, that will be disappointing. At that scale, he’ll be looking up to the Hulkbuster and I don’t mean that $500 one nobody bought. Edited October 21, 2024 by psqidexslizer

I think the possible good thing about it is if they make the head/ face printed on (and not sticker). That way, MOCs can still make use of it. LOL Oh well, we will just have to wait and see what Lego releases.
Undi3sss Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Seeing them all together I think the X Mansion definitely looks way too small next to the other 3 modulars (especially the Sanctum). I think they should've ditched the front footpath that lines them up and just had the grass to allow for a bit more house space. Just off the top of my head theres a few future modulars they could do with grass over pavement to tie them in as an area outside of the city, like Tony's Malibu House, Avengers Compound and Castle Doom.

If I remember correctly, the first rumors about series 2 were leaked around Christmas, and we're getting very early leaks: at the beginning of October we had images of the January sets and in-depth descriptions of the April sets... I'm not saying the guy has the information (I can't know) but given what's going on the timing wouldn't be that strange.

I could buy him having all this information this far in advance, as unlikely as it seems, except no one else seems to be corroborating what he says. That, and everything he claims seems like lucky guesses. - his list for the remaining DC and Marvel sets are the numbers left in the gaps of the sets we already know - Arkham which was already teased by Palnetttt - Sentinel set similarly to Leviathan - CMF series 3 with the obvious ensemble and maybe some others - Superman and Fantastic Four movie sets we already had all but confirmed was happening - Batman logo, which seems like a no brainer give Marvel and Star Wars are getting some. - more buildable figures, with one being for Batman. Every other detail is vague. Prices are within a certain range. This set is within these three numbers. These are the rumored figures. Etc. Things he can easily say he was mistaken about. It seems like he’s just making obvious guesses and using hints from legit leakers and mixing in details that are vague enough so he can wiggle out of it if he turns out to be wrong. That said, if everything he’s saying turns out to be true, I will admit I was wrong and he actually is legit. But until we get better info, it’s fun to speculate based on his leaks. Speaking of which, he’s listed 9 sets for the summer for Marvel. Two of those are the Sentinel and the Fantasticar. Three of them are buildable figures. One we know from other leaks is an Iron Man helmet. I wonder what the other 3 will end up being. Probably Legacy sets. Edited October 21, 2024 by psqidexslizer

BoyLego Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 There’s a video of some designers at comic con talking about the Mansion. They specifically reference how the leviathan released after the tower and say ‘we’re not done yet’. I would say a standalone sentinel set is pretty much guaranteed. Either way, definitely getting some more x-men stuff.

Whoops, for a moment you got me excited… I initially thought when you said they were not done yet, they were actually going to release expansion modules for the XMansion. lol But nonetheless, I’d be happy to just get more X Men characters. They’re probably going to pad pad future releases with a lot of repeats. And perhaps the Mansion may be left with only one or two exclusive minifigs.

I really hope they don’t stick to just ‘97 characters and we wind up with characters like Kitty, Emma Frost, and Colossus (yeah, I know they all appeared, but they weren’t main characters.) 1 hour ago, Mandalorianknight said: So the red hulk brickheadz is just a recolor of the original hulk brickheadz, which is really, really funny. I think the ones we're seeing predominantly featured as easter eggs in the X-Mansion are likely to show up. Nightcrawler and Jubilee are the most obvious choices. Also Cable for his popularity and Angel since he's the last original X-Man not to appear. Nightcrawler, Jubilee, and Cable would likely appear in a CMF and Angel in a future X-Men set. I think Colossus and Psylocke would very likely appear too since they're the only classic X-Men missing and part of the 90s Jim Lee lineup. Along with major villains like Mystique, Sabretooth, and Juggernaut if they're willing to make a bigfig. The easter egg references to Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister are also promising. As for Dazzler, the fact that she has an easter egg reference in the X-Mansion set, plus appears in the new Lego movie, makes me think she's not an impossible choice down the line either. There's a slight possibility we might one day get a minifigure for her. 4 hours ago, BoyLego said: There’s a video of some designers at comic con talking about the Mansion. I feel that's plausible. They might be holding out on future sets.

Obviously, they’d have to have some confidence that X-Men sets would sell to make these, so part of me feels like more sets would be a no-brainer, especially something as army-buildable as a Sentinel. Maybe that’s just my desire for more X-Men sets talking, though.

Black Cat couldn’t show her neck but Harley Quinn got to run around in a corset. Also, it depends on what outfit they go with for Emma. Some are more appropriate than others.
