Absurd and inconsistent. Black Cat couldn’t show her neck but Harley Quinn got to run around in a corset.

Truly showing the favoritism lego grants to DC over marvel.

You‘re being too pessimistic  Both X-Men sets this year came with new characters! They’re well aware of what fans want

To be fair, one of those sets was an $85 set with one new character, who also appeared in the $330 mansion that was going to include new characters no matter what. Without the D2C budget siphoning strategy they use, I don't know that they'll be too eager to give us more new characters.

I honestly think I'm being optimistic by hoping Gambit will be in a set next year. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a $60-70 sentinal (that would look like a $40 set) with Wolverine, Magneto, and then, say, Prof X and Jean or something.

Another example, we get three buildable figures for Marvel per year but at most only one for DC.

I'm expecting most of the X-Men minifigs to be recycled in future sets. I can see Xavier being kept exclusive, or maybe Iceman or Bishop.

Xavier's hardly exclusive anyway none of his parts are exclusive.

It looks like Arkham Asylum is coming next year over on the DC side of things. It’d make sense given that it’s a large building that it’d end up being next year’s modular. So odds are Baxter Building is out of the question, unless it’s a smaller set. Which makes me wonder what the D2C will be for Marvel next year. Maybe a remake of the Helicarrier? 🤔

Since it seems that DC got big Batmobiles when Marvel got Modulars (I'm ignoring the hulkbuster, shadowbox and decapitated T'Challa) maybe they'll do a big UCS Spider-Buggy / Peter Parkedcar  :snicker:

I honestly don't know why some people thought the Baxter Building would be next year, It just doesn't make sense they would sell a $200+ set on the Fantastic Four from a business perspective IMO.

The Marvel D2C next year will probably be a Helicarrier remake like you suggested or like a UCS Quinjet or something.

The same argument could also apply to the X-Mansion, and yet that goes on sale in a little over a week.

Fair Point, I guess I just assumed that the X-Mansion would always sell well because X-Men is more iconic and beloved than the Fantastic Four.

Like, the biggest hits the F4 has ever had by themselves so far are the 2000s movies, which isn't saying much (even though I grew up with those movies and enjoyed a certain cameo in a somewhat recent movie)

So I just always imagined a Baxter Building would only cater to a niche group of buyers since the F4 were never as huge as The Avengers, Spidey (duh), X-Men or even the Guardians.

I agree with you. The FF have not been relevant since the 60s passed. And this is coming from someone who loves them plus those 2000s movies. I've been saying since day one that a Baxter Building modular in 2025 is out of the question. It makes no sense considering Marvel's decline now when Avengers Tower and the Sanctum Sanctorum weren't immediately made as D2Cs during the MCU's peak.

The X-Men have remained relevant as a film franchise, as seen by the box office gross of Deadpool & Wolverine. Even if it's just Wolverine keeping the X-Men relevant, that can be enough.

Honestly, that's why I think he'll remain "exclusive." We're already getting a second Xavier from the GWP, also made from borrowed parts.

The future of the MCU is the X-Men tbh

I'm happy we're getting a comic based F4 set, I'll buy the MCU one too but I prefer the Iconic costumes from the comics that will pair well with other Comic Based figures, (Daredevil,Blade,Punisher)

Hopefully the design will be like the Marvel Superheroes Game

Correct me if I’m wrong, but we currently only know about that one F4 set, no? The leakers seem to be convinced it‘s comic-based, but the release date is kinda suspicious as late April is usually when sets for movies scheduled for July get launched.

If it‘s comic-based, the only way we‘ll get a proper movie tie-in set is after the movie‘s release (e.g., in August), which would be rather peculiar as well :shrug_oh_well:

I‘m happy to finally see the F4 get the LEGO treatment, whether they‘re based on the comics or the MCU, but can‘t we have both? Pretty please?

We’re getting one movie based set next year (non-legacy, that is). Fantastic Four vs Galactus sounds like it’ll be comic based. Thunderbolts isn’t getting any sets. Thus, it seems likely there’s another Fantastic Four set based on the film.

As it should be! 😝

From what I understand, there's some confusion as to whether the set is MCU or comic based, the rationale being the design is close enough to the comic design that the people who saw the set got confused about what it was based on. I actually commented on this back in September, but it seems it was lost in the discussion.

Ok, there's actually a few updates on the Galactus set. For transparency sake, I'm getting this from the Brick Tap discord, from members LDF10 (lego_minecraft_goat?) and its joever.

It might actually be based on the movie, just that the design is similar enough to the comics to confuse someone who saw it. The set has <450 parts and The Thing is a minifig, not a big fig. There is also no fantasticar included, meaning most of the parts go towards Galactus himself.

And it seems most lego leak reporters only looked at the initial leak and not any of the followups. I would enjoy getting a Fantasticar set though, since the comic design is classic and the film design looks quite good as well.

I truly believe that this is that case. Makes the most sense to make a set based off what will be Marvel’s most hyped-up movie in 2025 over a generic comic-based set. (I say hyped-up, opposed to hyped, because Marvel Studios will be hyping up this movie even if general audiences may not be entirely excited for it.)

I will likely buy this set Day 1, because it’s the FF. However, there’s something about buying a set being based off a new movie that gives one a sense of excitement for the film unlike any other.

Judging off the glimpse of the film model Fantasticar at SDCC, I’d expect a $40 set, not $60. Ironic to the discussion, but I could see a comic-based Fantasicar at $60 better than a movie-based one.

Theres no rule saying DC and Marvel cant each have a modular. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it cant happen. Plus Arkham being a big building set doesn't mean it'll be in modular format.

Ironman mech has leaked! The Ultron looks amazing

Sure, there’s no rule. But I can’t see Lego cannibalizing their own sales by pumping out several super hero modular buildings per year. Plus, these buildings always include a large number of new figures and prints (yes, even the X-Mansion, before we get back to people whining that we didn’t get enough). There’s a limit on how many new prints (and therefore how many figures) they can introduce per year and introducing a second modular means they would have to include less figures or include more repeats meaning each modular would suffer. And there’s only so many buildings they can adapt. If they double up the number, they’ll run out twice as fast. It makes much more sense to keep it as a yearly release.

Bit strange how these have leaked before the supposed 1 Dec red hulk set? Maybe that’s been delayed again?

Ultron looks great, and so does that new helmet for Iron Man. Huge improvement over the other one.

The helmet is new. I think the torso and legs are reused, but it’s hard to tell. If they are new, they’re not much different from the one we’ve been getting.

I get your logic and its a fair assessment but I can definitely see them releasing a modular for both. I could agree we wouldn't get 2 every single year or 2 similar like a Daily Planet and Daily Bugle out at the same time but I don't see Lego giving up on a streak of Marvel modulars (have no hard proof but they all seem to do well sales wise) until a DC modular has a track record of selling. You would hope with new DCU on horizon that superheroes team would be given a slightly bigger budget to bump the DC side for a year or two at least till DCU can be proven to sell merch well or not.

Seems like the Iron Man Mech & Ultron set has comic-inspired versions of the figures, both get leg print which is great, Ultron looks good and the return of the helmet/neck piece so hopefully that means it'll be re-used again in 2025 for movie Ultron.

Wait, why are the superhero mechs next year so peak? First the Superman one, now Iron Man.

The minifigures are surprisingly fantastic. Iron Man perfectly combines the MCU suit with the original comic one (MK85 could never), while Ultron looks incredible—the printing is amazing all over.

Now I can't wait to see the Anti-Venom one.

I thought Anti Venom will not have a mech and it will just be him as a figure vs Miles or Spidey's Mech

Well yeah, I meant the Anti-Venom set in general. (Since the villains seem more interesting in those.)
