They can throw in al kind of mutants for us. Let them to that for once, let those people at Lego HQ prove that they are cool people and not stupid and greedy, cashgrabbing businesspeople only. I mean I would love 20 or so characters with the X-Men, villains, and supporting characters like Moira MacTaggert and Forge all in this set. But unfortunately that's not going to happen. For the same reason the Disney castle originally came out with only 5 figures despite thousands of Disney characters existing. The Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle were able to feature so many characters because most of them already existed as minifigs. Also why the Death Star set could feature about 24-25 minifigs because the vast majority of them already existed. It's easy to reuse what already exists, much more time and money to create new figures. With the X-Men, there aren't many minifigs that already exist so that's why everyone's expectations were lower. Think also of the new Batman skyline set based on the 90s show. They could have gone the route of including every major character from the show in their animated look but they only picked four characters. It's not ideal but unfortunately it's how Lego works.

No sense inflating the budget with a bunch of new prints when most of us will buy an X-Mansion with just the core characters. Not to mention, if they leave out a fair number of highly desirable characters here (villains especially) they can stick them in sets down the line as incentive to buy those. This mentality is what brought us that overpriced, minifigure-lacking X-Jet, which, at least as far as I've seen, has been warming shelves ever since it released. Just look at the Bugle - there was no "need" to put in figures like Daredevil, Punisher, Blade, Black Cat, Firestar, and more - but, it lead to more satisfaction and "perceived value" of the product, leading to more sales. Even the Avengers Tower, which had a lot of repeats, had over 30 minifigs. Unless they really go all-out with the minifigs, the Mansion is going to feel very underpopulated compared to the Bugle and the Avengers Tower. 10 minifigures might be enough to cover the basics... But, without more than that, I might skip, or just look for the figs on Bricklink.
Lego Nostalgia Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 They better include Jean,Prof X,Gambit and Nightcrawler, wtf is the point of 10 minifigures when 4 are just going to be reused. Mtd Bricks replied to someone on Instagram saying the the figures will be a mix of X-men 97 and comics so maybe Deadpool comic version ???
Buckethead Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 For situations like these, I always look at the promotional material. Marvel really only seems to be highlighting 12 characters (Cyclops, Jean, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Magneto, Jubilee, Bishop, Morph, Sunspot, and Beast), with some toy exceptions from Hasbro (Nightcrawler, X-cutioner, and Madelyne Pryor). Outside of these 15, I don't anticipate anybody else. So if we consider all 15, around 5 characters would be removed.
Lego_ofme Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 I agree. For the size and cost 10 feels low. I think 10 gives you Wolverine Cyclops Beast Storm Rogue Magneto Jean grey Professor X Gambit Jubilee That leaves out Morph and Bishop from the 97 main team. I can’t see how you can have the mansion without Xavier. If 10 is really it - I’m a bit disappointed. Other than new prints - morph and bishop are easy (no new parts). I also think you miss some fun opportunities for maybe the original 5 in original costume (iceman and angel) though I expect they will be included in the portrait in the professors office. Also so much room for fun mutants - I think frankly I’m a bit bored of the lack of new marvel minifigures so am desperate for them to go hard on mutants so I can keep my collection growing (god I want nightcrawler!) I think for cost and size 15 is fair but frankly that doesn’t matter. Have to see when we get closer to the time. Long old wait for a major leak I would guess.
wesker Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 The mansion was never going to get over 20 characters like the Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle did but there's no denying that only getting 10 minifigures is still pretty underwhelming. Somewhere around 12-14 would have been the ideal number. Still as long as they can at least complete the original TAS team with Jean Grey, Gambit, Jubilee and Professor X I'll be satisfied. Getting either Magneto's classic red costume or Mr. Sinister would also be preferable over reusing the X-Jet's purple Magneto minifigure.
upliftingbricks Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Time to throw out some X-Mansion guesses and see how many I hit in 6 months time Includes at least 1 if not 2 (small) buildable Sentinels (Around size of last build or smaller using same head mould as CMF) and will be attacking the X-Mansion on the back of the box It'll hinge open like Home Alone house and not be standard modular Mr Sinister will be included as he'll reuse Ronan's cape piece Cyclops will be same as X-Jet but with dual moulded legs Magneto and Wolverine will be same as X-Jet Other 6 characters will be Beast (different to CMF but reusing hairpiece), Gambit, Bishop, Jubilee, Mystique and Sabretooth. No Prof X and especially Jean as we need something to really hate the set for Storm will stay exclusive to CMF and Rogue exclusive to X-Jet There will be a Deadpool easter egg sticker Not a guess but would be funny if the leaked (faked) Quicksilver torso was from X-Mansion set.

JeanGreyForever Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Nightcrawler I'm hoping could pop up in future sets. Since he's supposed to join the team this season and will presumably be more heavily marketed for S2. As for which costume we get Magneto in, tbh I wouldn't be against a redo of his purple big M costume. I'm not a fan of his X-Jet minifigure. The purple of his costume in the show is very dark but his minifig is a super bright shade. And the hair is way too long and straight.
LemonFlavouredBleach Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 If wolverine, storm and beast take up spots again thats the biggest waste

The original preliminary set had 9 figures and looked to lean more to the comics or movies for inspiration as opposed to the X-Men 97 cartoon: Prof.X Magneto Wolverine Storm Cyclops Beast Mystique Sabertooth Emma Frost I imagine that this line-up will be in the final set, the same as in the preliminary design. This is effectively five heroes Vs four villains currently, so the missing 10th figure could be an additional member of Magneto's brotherhood of mutants. That said, It'd be easy enough for them to re-use Rogue's figure from the X-Jet also. If it is indeed a new figure I'd lean to it being Toad, Pyro or Jean Grey Toad would complete the original Brotherhood of Mutants line-up seen in the 2003 X-Men movie Pyro works as a sort of hero-turned-villain and they could easily play off the fire aspects for playability Jean Grey is extremely popular as a character, notable throught the franchise as a whole 2 hours ago, LemonFlavouredBleach said: If wolverine, storm and beast take up spots again thats the biggest waste I imagine it'll follow the preliminary, so all three of these would be included.
hikouki Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 I know it is too early as we haven't even seen a leak of the X-mansion... but if it really is limited to 10 minifigs, I wonder what follow up set might contain the remainder of the team/ cast? X-men vs Sentinels set? LOL

The reason we're getting X-Men sets again is to tie-into the new cartoon. This cartoon wasn't even in existence when that original preliminary set must have been designed. It has to be older than 2014 because that's when the X-Men/FF ban came into play when Marvel stopped making their merchandise. It would have been something designed in the years before that when Lego still could make X-Men sets. That set with its minifigure choices is about as likely to come into existence as that Temple of Doom set that never saw the light of die. All the X-Men merchandise coming out right now is based on X-Men '97. Same with the Lego X-Men merch we've gotten so far which all comes from the show or 90s era. It's safe to say the new mansion set will be based on the show and 90s era as well. 11 minutes ago, hikouki said: I know it is too early as we haven't even seen a leak of the X-mansion... but if it really is limited to 10 minifigs, I wonder what follow up set might contain the remainder of the team/ cast? I'm also assuming Marvel might be waiting to see how these sets sell to even see if it's worth making more. Based on the comments I'm reading here about how the X-Jet is selling (or not selling), I don't think follow-up sets are even guaranteed. Marvel is entering DC territory where every new project is not guaranteed to get sets.
cosmic Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Wow 10 figures is kind of whack. Hopefully they skip Storm and Rogue to make room for new characters. I hate the fact that we still have no Jean Grey and part of me wonders if she'll come here. I don't understand why the company has shied away from such a popular character. Not only is she my favorite X-Men, but she doesn't really need leg printing. Maybe arm printing, but I'd be fine if they skipped that. I love Jean Grey and I find it frustrating that they keep avoiding her. Here's who I expect to see: Wolverine Magneto Mr Sinister Beast in lab coat Jubilee Cyclops Jean Grey Bishop Jean Grey Morph Writing that list out, I start to understand the frustration for how small this list is. I wish we had more villains than just 2, which makes it hard to even write a hypothetical figure list. Feels like they half a** every X-Men product they make (1 new character in the jet, no dual molding or proper hair mould for Rogue, lack of leg detailing on Cyclops, constant reuse of Wolverine, small character roster on the Mansion). :/
CF Mitch Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Just saw the list made by 'itavixbrix' and I thought 'yes!', then I came here and learned it's from the prelims and probably not what'll really happen Kinda bummed 'cause that's actually a great list, all in all. Regards, Mitch
JeanGreyForever Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 The latest episode of X-Men '97 makes me wonder if they could get away with excluding Bishop in the mansion set. If we do get his minifigure, I'll definitely be swapping out the cropped hair for his original long hair he sported in the 90s.

Every other revealed set of which we had a preliminary set leak in that batch, were all very close to the finalized version. We have'nt seen any massive changes between the prelims and the finalized versions regarding figures or builds, so not expecting it to change here. You can still find the leaked image to look for yourself, but a lot of the character's costumes are different hinting to it being more of a comic-inspired set OR perhaps an old X-Men TAS inspired set as opposed to the new series. The version of Mystique they have for instance is naked on the Lego version while the X-Men series depicts her wearing white clothing. The version of Cyclops they have is more detailed than the version we got in the X-Jet and is wearing a darker uniform. I could see the arguement being that the below are placeholders, but why use the 2014 Wolverine rather than updated 2022 versions they would have had access to at the time? I think Lego plan on revisiting these designs and giving us updated versions of these figures, which were based on the comics.

I think Lego plan on revisiting these designs and giving us updated versions of these figures, which were based on the comics. Many have said on here that the X-Mansion uses outdated building techniques common in the early 2010s. It doesn't look like a modern-day style set at all. I'd expect something far closer to the Home Alone set now. It's like looking at the scrapped Malfoy Manor set from the Harry Potter wave in the late 2000s/early 2010s and expecting to see that exact model recreated today in a new set. There's a world of difference between the sets back then versus today. Mystique was never naked in the comics. That scaly naked look is purely from the movies, and another indication that the original design is based off of an earlier X-Men era inspired by the movies and the contemporary comics of the 2010s. In the comics and show, she's always worn clothing, namely her white dress with skull belt. She hasn't even been relevant in this show so far or part of any merchandise. You're answering your own questions. The reason Wolverine, Storm, and Magneto minifigs weren't depicted as their current minifigs is because that design was created years before those minifigs even existed. Lego is not going to go out of their way to create new Wolverine or Storm minifigs when they can reuse the CMF ones they already have. For Wolverine, they might not even reuse the CMF figure but probably will take the less detailed version from the X-Jet. If we're lucky, Magneto could come in his classic red and purple costume since he appears in the show wearing that but even that might be wishful thinking. If Magneto is in the set, it could very easily be the X-Jet minifigure again. Also, if Xavier is in the X-Mansion set, there's no way it won't be the hoverchair version. The hoverchair Xavier would have been considered a relic in the early 2010s and very outdated. Now, especially with people asking for his minifigure after Multiverse of Madness, it wouldn't make sense for him to not be his 90s incarnation with the green suit and yellow hoverchair. BrickBob Studpants Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 I‘m still wondering why they used a super-outdated picture of the X-Mansion for the survey, especially when all the others (so far) were much closer matches. The point of the survey was to find out acceptable price ranges, so why show a prelim of a completely different, likely planned but cancelled set that‘s obviously a lot smaller and less sophisticated than the real deal? As far as the number of figures is concerned, 10 is pretty low, but not that surprising considering they don‘t have that many minifigs they can fully or partially recycle here

I'd assume that the shift to X-Men '97 happened after that sketch model was designed, and they just hadn't yet completed (or gotten close to doing so) a version resembling the final set. The Deku Tree, for example, is also probably not very much like the final model, which iirc is going to be $200? The prelim image was pretty clearly undersized if that were the case imo.

I think Lego plan on revisiting these designs and giving us updated versions of these figures, which were based on the comics. We haven't seen many massive changes, but we also haven't seen all of the preliminary sets release. And there absolutely HAVE been changes, even if not as far reaching as the X-Mansion ones are likely to be. The medieval village cut the majority of its animals, the final Deku Tree is likely to be a fair bit bigger considering the $200 price point, the Gotham skyline got SIGNIFICANTLY wider, with more space between buildings and more buildings in general, the brick built text changed from 'GOTHAM' to 'BATMAN' and moved from the base to the top of the model, and the figure selection was changed a fair bit and shifted around into other sets. Gotham obviously having the most changes and setting a precedent, if you needed one. There's also the matter of the preliminary X-Mansion being clearly mostly film inspired, while the final set is likely to be strictly X-Men '97 based. On the figues, I'm not sure if you've heard this, but a couple designers for LEGO have talked about it - when a figure is produced, that figure can then 'bleed' into other sets without adding to the theme's budget for new prints. The Avengers Tower had so many figures because so many of them could be created from existing parts (Alexander Pierce), only needed one new print (SHIELD agents) or existed already (Captain America, the Chitauri, etc.) - it very efficiently used its budget to amass the most figures it could, and probably has less new prints overall than a lot of cheaper sets. The Bugle is kind of an opposite situation, but Mark Stafford said that the Bugle could only have so many figures because they were distributed into the rest of the Spider-Man sets in that year (they ended up releasing BEFORE the Bugle, but still) - there are only really a handful of exclusive figures for the Bugle, with the rest being covered in the general Spidey wave, or again, easily made out of existing parts. With that being how LEGO works, why would LEGO waste budget on brand new looks for characters they already have in production? The designers are fans, and do try their best to appeal to other fans, and they absolutely know that wasting prints on ANOTHER Wolverine, Magneto, Storm, etc. when they can just throw in the existing ones is pointless. I would bet money that most, if not all, of the figures from the CMF and X-Jet will appear in some capacity in the Mansion. I wouldn't be surprised if they used some prints on UPGRADING those figures, like leg printing for Cyclops, but to replace them outright would be absurd and really bite into the number of new characters they can make. Let's also not forget that MTD reported this as 'about 10 figures' before others started reposting it as just '10 figures'. This early (the set comes out in November, guys) I doubt even LEGO has an absolutely final lineup. Could always expand!
