Other than Human Torch and maybe Thing I would'nt want figures of the other film versions of these characters. I'm after legacy and comic inspired (or stuff that could pass for comic inspired) at this point. Fingers crossed 2025 will give us 10th anniversary Age Of Ultron sets based on the latter half of the film to occupy my collecting. Lego really need to prioritize legacy sets at this point if they want to secure sales. More legacy sets are fine as long as they don't keep recycling the same MCU content over and over. The Avengers sets for this year feel stale because they aren't bringing anything new to the table. The Infinity Saga excels when its either revisiting an outdated set that actually warrants remaking (like the Milano) or focusing on something completely new that hasn't been done before (like Surtur) I'd also like to see the Avengers start transitioning over to more comic based sets once Age of Ultron has wrapped up. 55 minutes ago, NeutralNoodle said: Maybe they could throw some FF characters into a comic Spider-Man set Any new characters appearing in a comic Spider-Man set would be welcome at this point. I'm getting pretty bored with the endless cycle of Miles, Gwen, Green Goblin, Venom and Doc Ock minifigures repeating in every set.

So it isn’t even farfetched. (The team-up comics were among my favorites as a kid) Spidey and the FF are like besties as well. Doom showing up in a spidey comic set wasn’t strange too. In its fifth comic the webslinger was battling dr doom. And they crossed paths many times more. I think it’s weird that they don’t make more comic-based sets. Especially when so much older folks are collecting lego now. And a lot of sets nowadays are made with nostalgic themes to cater those old peoples. Or is the comic marvel world so unknown to a lot of people, and am i just looking at it too much from a comic fan perspective? Edited April 6, 2024 by Borex

To me it feels like LEGO realised that adults with disposable income are a great audience, but realised literally nothing else about that audience. Adult fans of superheroes love minfigures and love the comics. The Daily Bugle was probably helped a LOT by the inclusion of Daredevil, Punisher, Blade, who people have wanted for ages. But it feels like instead of learning that people like comic themed sets with loads of minfigures, they decided that set's success means that people like modular buildings and big 18+ sets. And like, I do REALLY like the modular buildings, but I'd like them a lot more if they were comic focused. But, I guess there's an argument to be made that there have basically never been comic sets. Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man are to thank for most of the comic-adjacent sets that exist. I really wish they'd explore that world a bit more, though. X-Mansion will probably be the closest thing we get to that for a while, which is a shame. The superhero modular building slot is likely to be filled by a movie based Baxter Building, or I guess a Daily Planet if they're feeling confident about DCU Superman. There's always 2026 for an Oscorp or something I guess 😂

It‘s a pretty substantial wave, and there’s not even one new character (Surtur excluded) or at least noteworthy variant anywhere? Come on. Sure, not all of the phase 1-3 movies were equally successful, popular, and merchandisable, but revisiting Doctor Strange, GotG Vol 2, and Iron Man 3, plus finally acknowledging The First Avenger, Thor, The Dark World, and The Winter Soldier shouldn‘t be that hard Maybe next year! Or Age of Ultron's forest scene? The 'I'm always angry' scene with Hulk and the Leviathan would've been a great set idea... at the time... Kids now I doubt know it or particularly care about it. And a bunch of the adult collectors probably have the Avengers tower with Hulk and a Leviathan anyways? All kids really care about is the characters, so I'd think that the older film the set is based on shouldn't matter much to them as long as the characters they recognise are in them and the build is fun. Kids like Iron Man, so Iron Man 3 sets with some cool variant armour make sense! Kids like Captain America, so TFA or TWS stuff makes sense too! If they'll ask for the random Cap Vs Hydra bike set (my brother did, at least 😂) they'll ask for anything with the characters.

From my experience cinema is pretty irrelevant to the young people in my place. They stream and the older popular Marvel movies are allways recommended on Disney+. Also in every youtube recommendation video, which some consume to find stuff to watch, nobody mentions anything past Endgame (except maybe Guardians 3). It is definitely a, if not the reason. Another one is that parents decide what they buy in the end. If dad stands there with a nostalgic smile in front of the set remembering how it was to see the Avengers assemble in cinema with his friends over a decade ago, it is much more likely he will buy that set than (yeah it is an extreme example but showes everything wrong with Marvel at this point) a She-Hulk set of the "I suffer infinite times more than you, Bruce!"- or Twerking-scene. The only marvel product I liked since Endgame was Guardians 3, but I don´t see anything I want as a playset from that movie. Edited April 7, 2024 by Gorilla94

Mechs and vehicles sell well for kids, but it’s literally become cyclical now with the same patterns and characters year after year. At least in the past we used to get sets like the Web Warriors Bridge Battle (still the greatest mainline set in this theme IMO, alongside the Benatar. Nothing else has matched it) and giant Doc Ock Mech. I’m still bummed out that we never got sets for the Spider-Verse films. So much material to work with. Lego is first and foremost a toy for children when it comes to mainline releases, but Lego Marvel is definitely one of the themes where you can really tell this to be the case and not just overlook it because the sets stand well enough on their own. It’s hilarious that the 4+ sets have given more new characters and moulds than the general retail sets have. Edited April 7, 2024 by Kaijumeister

I don't get the obsession with making the vehicles and mechs FOR Spider-Man most of the time - the Ghost Rider team up sets are a great example imo of what the theme could be! There's Spidey, there's a cool vehicle to play with, there's a villain, and there's another hero that older fans (and kids, to be honest) can get excited for. To me it feels like (and I know this isn't precisely how it works) fig slots, so to speak, are being taken up by the need to establish Peter, Miles and Gwen all as equally valid Spider-People... but if you want them to stand on their own in merchandising, let them! Give us just a wave of Miles stuff, then focus the rest of the figures on new heroes and villains instead of the same handful of Spider-People over and over. But still, I think the cartoons are mostly to thank for the comic(ish) rep we did get. White Tiger was a great inclusion in the big Doc Ock mech set, but she's only there because of Ultimate Spider-Man. And sadly, Amazing Friends is the current Spidey cartoon, so any new characters there are gonna be confined to that show's style. Rhino, Zola, Electro - all great figures to get, but I would've liked them more under different circumstances 😂 My main hope is that we see X-Men '97 continue to succeed, we get a Spider-Man TAS continuation, and LEGO starts to go all in on animation.

But I also mostly liked Dr Strange 2 and the Marvels, parts of Eternals, Loki was pretty good (especially season 2), and Hawkeye was fun. I think the problem is more that the quality these days is all over the place. Before Endgame, even the not-so-great movies like Thor The Dark World or Ant-Man were at least okay. Now they're cranking out stuff at an alarming rate, Ant-Man 3 was demand-your-money-back terrible, ands so's Secret Invasion from what I hear. It's not the lack of good content, it's the increase of bad content dragging the MCU down. Edited April 8, 2024 by brickbride

The original castle had 7 minifigs, if you count the two statues, and overall, only 4 exclusive. The second version had 8 minifigs, so a total net gain of only 1. And only 5 exclusive (so far). Knowing Lego, there will probably be a lot of repeats for the mansion. I want the Mansion to be successful and I am really looking forward to it, but also interested in knowing how much love Lego is willing to put into this theme.
Scarilian Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 According to mtdbricks, the Surtur set is the opening battle. Nobody was freaking out about them fighting in a snowy forest as opposed to them fighting Ultron's in a ruined cathedral structure with a strange metallic device they are guarding. Legacy set from Captain America franchise to tie in with Captain America 4/Thunderbolts CMF Series 3 featuring figures from Marvel Zombies, Agatha, Eyes of Wakanda, Daredevil: Born Again S1 and Iron Heart Probably a D2C set, maybe a UCS Helicarrier (10th anniversary remake) or a comic styled Baxter building (To tie into Fantastic Four)

wesker Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 There's no chance Iron Heart will be getting any sets next year. None of the previous live action MCU shows have had any and this one is being headlined by a character that couldn't even catch on with the audience last time we saw her. Its going to be Echo and The Marvels all over again. The most I can see this show getting is an inclusion in the next Marvel CMF series but that's about it.
