Helicarrier is revealed, looks nice but would have been cool if it included a Captain America Stealth suit figure from Winter Solider.

Yeah, but to be fair none of the midi-scale ships they've been doing have had figures. Plus, it's not even based on that film.

I dunno. I don't collect the midi-scales, but this looks solid. It's also the type of thing adults who aren't generally lego fans would put on their desks, which I assume is the rationale. I'd be interested to see a sanctuary 2 if this does well.

That set is just plain boring imo.

Helicarrier feels completely irrelevant at this point, they're like 10 years late.

The price is just bad. You pay 60€ for 500 pieces and no minifigures? Yeah, no thanks. At least they should've included a data plate with an exclusive minifigure, like the Winter Soldier.

Hadn't I had the "UCS" one this would have been day one buy.

Even if it's less relevant it's still iconic to the original Avengers movie.

I'll probably wait for a discount though, but yeah, I'm gonna get it and mod it into something like the mini-carrier from Lego Marvel Super Heroes, with Nick Fury behind a rudder.

I think this will probably be the consensus and it'll do well because of it. Collectors of the "art" displays and the masks/helmets are the target of this set, not this board that is mostly minifig collectors.

I like the design quite a bit and appreciate how similar in style it is to the SW ones released earlier this year, but that price admittedly is a tough pill to swallow *huh*

I wouldn‘t say it‘s completely irrelevant. Sure, it hasn’t appeared on screen in almost 10 years, but it‘s still a classic design from the early phases of the Infinity Saga. Plus we‘re getting other sets from that same era in this wave as well :classic:

That price is horrific, everything better be printed, no stickers for that price right? It's even worse when you see the photo on the back of the box is from Captain America: The Winter Soldier depicting three of the Helicarriers, Lego certainly wants to encourage people to replicate that by buying more copies. Set itself looks good visually, but at the same time kinda gives off the vibe of being a GWP for a different set. I'm leaning towards us getting a remake of the D2C Helicarrier soon as the previous D2C is nearly 10 years old at this point and could definitely be improved with a remake.

They seem to be revisiting films from around 9 years ago, presumably to have them on shelves for the 10th anniversaries, with the return to AoU (2015) sets and the rumored Civil War (2016) set/sets next year, I'd imagine Ant-Man would be sorta covered by Civil War but perhaps one set would be nice. I'd hope they revisit Doctor Strange (2016) to give us Kaecilius (Perhaps with a upper torso version of Dormammu).

Will be interesting to hear what the slate of films is shifting to later in the year, as we could easily wind up with them revisiting Infinity War in 2027 alongside Avengers 6 if the 9 year revisits of legacy films continue.

That one’s been at the top of my wish list ever since the Infinity Saga subtheme started. GIVE MADS MIKKELSEN HIS DANG MINIFIG YOU COWARDS!

His brother Lars will soon have two, despite Mads having had roles in 5 major franchises TLG make sets for! Granted, Lars’ are the same character twice, but still  I can’t help but wonder if that ever gets brought up at family meetings. It’s a question of national pride! :laugh_hard:

Well, at this point our only hope is that Mads joins the DCU in a prominent-enough role to warrant a minifigure.

Good one

Actually, there’s another one I think I brought up before, but I’ll tag it as a spoiler anyway: Rumour has it he might be in talks to play

Doctor Doom

, but I’m taking this with an enormous grain of salt. The Marvel rumour mill isn’t exactly what it used to be

And even if it’s true, we’d have to wait a looooooong time for a minifig of that character :shrug_oh_well: So long in fact, Mads might be cast in another franchise and receive his minifig that way (like Jurassic Park 8, a voice role in a Pixar movie, etc)

But even then, it would be cruel irony since we wouldn't actually get any of his features.

Literally anyone could be playing him, and the minifigure would look the same. :head_back:

True, but it doesn’t matter. It would count :laugh_hard:

He could quite easily show up in Andor S2 as Galen Erso again, but that probably won't get sets.

I don‘t think he will though, and as you say, it‘s not likely Andor S2 will even get sets in the first place :shrug_oh_well:

Kaecilius is way more likely than Galen ever was. Grindelwald and Voller have no chance since TLG skipped those movies and ditched the respective (sub)franchises, while Le Chiffre only would‘ve made sense if they started to do 007 sets outside of Icons or Speed Champions cars

Is there a subscription with the magazine, and is so, how do I register?

I'd imagine he gets one eventually, they can probably just bundle him with a buildable Dormammu and Doctor Strange and it'd sell.

Seems like everything is stickers... so it's an easy pass from me, can probably make my own from the pieces I already have.

Love the Helicarrier. It reminds me so much of The Avengers and LEGO Marvel Superheroes. It looks really clean, despite the multitude of stickers. So it’s a shame that it seems like LEGO sabotaged the set with a high price, just like they did with the X-Jet and Star Lord helmet.

Is it me or does the LEGO Group (the corporate overheads) legitimately dislike the Marvel line? A limited budget, overpricing, uninspired selection as opposed to very inspired builds. I believe that the LEGO Marvel theme has the potential to become the best selling license with the rich amount of comics and now movies from which to pull inspiration. The only thing holding the theme back seems to be mandates from corporate, but at Marvel or at LEGO?

Wait until this man finds out about the theme formerly known as lego DC superheroes.

Hype for the MCU has significantly dwindled these last few years. Don’t believe me? Look at the box office numbers. These translate into a dwindle in Lego sales of sets based off the new rims. And the films that people are hyped for (Deadpool and Wolverine) Lego won’t make sets for. Lego Marvel isn’t one of Lego’s top 5 bestselling themes. And for a theme that large you’d think that it should do better than Ninjago.

Also there’s the fact that there aren’t a lot of vehicles/ locations in the MCU that would be recognisable to kids. That’s why we get Hulkbuster after Hulkbuster. I believe we got more Hulkbusters than Hulk bigfigs between 2018-2022.

Anyway, why do you speak such heresy against Star Wars? @Swordy, my allegiance is to the republic, to the Star Wars theme. You have allowed this dark Feige to twist your mind.

Also if you really want to see what happens when a once great theme that still has potential is neglected by Lego, go visit the DC Aslume.. I mean discussion thread.

I can‘t help but chuckle every time I see the „company hates their own product!“ argument :laugh_hard: That is not how companies operate. If a theme has a smaller budget, that‘s simply because it doesn‘t do as well as others. Those decisions are purely financial, not due to personal animosities or preferences. Also, keep in mind that Marvel and DC share their budget.
