I guess the conversation is about whether the D2C will be strictly Xmen97 or not?

My 2 cents is that that would be an incredibly limiting move for... no reason? Xmen97 isn't meant to solely be introducing Xmen to a new generation (though it will for some kids), there's really no reason a large set like this would cater to ONLY those viewers. Additionally, branching out from their IPs is a Marvel trick that's been used a thousand times now: "Wait, I don't recognize this character from Xmen 97, let me look up who that is and consume other media to learn about them." It's the entire reason they do cameo stingers.

My point being, there is nothing to gain from making a D2C exclusive to Xmen97 and much to lose. Designs could absolutely be updated to Xmen 97's, sure, and I hope they are because Bryan Singer's naked Mystique has been a blight on the xmen for too long.

97 is a great new Disney Plus, the first X-Men in the Disney era. All the legos for now are 97. I don't understand how it is possible to still think that it will be a generic set. In my opinion the logo will be half the size of the box to make sure it is connected to the show O.o

In truth I don't understand many things: especially why they used that image for the survey

Also, no one talked about other D2Cs, so should this be the set the designers were talking about during the avengers tower reveal?

I was definitely of the opinion that the Mansion would branch out beyond the show. However, just looking at the summer wave and how there’s no X-Men sets and looking at how Lego has handled D2C’s in the past, particularly the modular line, I don’t see us getting more than 9 or 10 minifigures in the Mansion and at best 4-5 new figures. The main cast of X-Men ‘97 just happens to be 10 characters and there are 4 characters we haven’t seen yet in Lego. That is why I think we’re just gonna see the ‘97 core group of characters (repeats of Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, and Rogue from the X-Jet, CMF Beast with a lab coat and new head, CMF Storm with plain legs and a new head, and the four characters we haven’t seen yet: Jean Grey, Prof X, Gambit, and Jubilee.)

Here's every character I think might be in the running for the X-Mansion:

Based on merch, promo art and the initial reveal:

•Bishop

•Jean Gray

•Jubilee

•Gambit

•Morph

•Sunspot

•Nightcrawler

•Cable

•Forge

•Mr. Sinister

•The Hellfire Club

Based on overall prominence and popularity:

•Deadpool (this set should launch real close to his movie, so it'd make sense to do a loose tie-in)

•Collosus (same logic here)

•Mystique (features heavily in the films)

•Sabertooth (arguably a more exciting and 'playable' villain than any of the Hellfire Club)

•Professor X (I don't think he's actually in '97, but you kind of can't have the X-Mansion without him)

•Iceman (good excuse to finish up the Amazing Friends)

I'm sure they'll reuse quite a few figs, but I think at least one will remain exclusive to both the CMF and X-Jet. Maybe a lab coat variant of the Beast from the CMF, Cyclops and Wolverine from the X-Jet, keeping Rogue, Storm and weirdo magenta Magento exclusive? It'd be good to see an update to his classic red suit in the mansion.

I’d love for them to pull a Harley Quinn Apocalypseburg and include the movie Deadpool minifig

That was her costume from the PG-13 Suicide Squad movie, though. IF we get Deadpool in the Mansion (a very big if!), he will be comic-based/ '97-based.

Will there be a GWP for the X-Mansion set? Maybe Deadpool could show up in that. I feel like Lego will want to capitalize on his upcoming movie even if they can't go the route of making an actual set for him.

X-Men Mansion prototype was 3122 pieces, 9 minifigures, 9 seemingly unique, for $300.

Sanctum Sanctorum was 2708 pieces, 9 minifigures, 7 unique, for $250.

Figures in the prototype for reference: Prof X, Mangeto, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Beast, Mystique, Sabertooth and Emma Frost

I think it'll remain the 9 figures shown in the prototype coupled with a GWP of over $100 polybag of Deadpool or something along those lines - if we are lucky.

It’s just speculation, as far as I’m aware.

Its assumed that it's based on the Muspelheim battle that opens the film, rather than the Asgard battle that closes it. But it could be either, just I think most of us would rather the final battle got a larger set. But even if it is the first battle with Surt, Lego could still throw in characters from the film who weren't in that exact scene, they've done it before.

I feel like if the Surtur set has a figure besides Thor and a fire demon, it'll be Valkyrie in her Endgame battle suit. I'm not sure a set so (relatively) inexpensive based on such a popular film really needs to sell itself with a Hela fig, especially with a new helmet mold being basically necessary (unless they'd just do her without it?)

If we get another Hela I think it'd be in a larger Asgard set - LEGO has to know people would buy that

Looking at the previous two Marvel sets at a $24.99 price, the Deviant Ambush had three minifigures, one of which, Gilgamesh, was exclusive and had three new prints that were not used elsewhere in the wave.  Both of the minifigures in the Miles Morales vs. Morbius set were exclusive, with Miles having one new print and Morbius having two new prints, for a total of three.  So three new prints total for the minfigure selection in the Surtur set sounds reasonable if the pattern continues.

If it is based on the beginning of Ragnarok, maybe a head and torso print for a Fire Demon and a new torso print for Thor?

We didn't hear about the Avengers Tower GWP until quite late relative to the set coming out. Based on that set, I wouldn't get your hopes up about an exclusive figure or anything. The taxi was such a poor set compared to what it could have been!

Thanks for confirming. I do hope we get a new Hela though.

Me too. I missed out on Hela last time and can't justify the cost now!

I suppose my though process is that if it comes with another new minifig, I wouldn't mind Thor being a reuse but if he's alone then I'd want it to be the exact version for this scene.

Sure Lego knows what a toxic thing it would be to include Deadpool in only a GWP. It would skyrocket D2C purchases, sure, but after market would be so horrible for a fig that many fans are dying for.

I personally doubt it'll be based on the intro rather than the climax, though it probably doesn't matter. I think most fans/kids remember Surtur from destroying Asgard.
Either way, my take on this entire wave is that Lego isn't above shoving desired figs into canon-adjacent sets, and I'm here for it! Rocket's Warbird and Ronan is a good example of "that didn't quite happen but close enough." If Lego wanted to make a new Hela fig, this would be a good enough opportunity, but the real question is, is Surtur enough to sell this set or is the set really about a Hela fig (as the Warbird is as much about Ronan figs for collectors as the build).

I think it's more likely this is based on the intro, the pricing makes it unlikely it'd be the final battle and I think Lego have demonstrated a desire to turn the big battles into $100+ sets.

Something like a planned series of sets seems likely to me:

Surtur Battle (Similar to 76831)

  • Build: Brick-built Surtur (Scales well with Thor, good for playability) his crown piece is detachable. Potentially has a cage that Thor could escape from.
  • 2 Figures: Thor (Brand new accurate figure), Fire Demon

Ragnarok: Final Battle (Similar to 76261)

  • Build: Asgard and segment of Rainbow Bridge. Could include Surtur's crown piece and the Tesseract hidden in the Asgard build.
  • 9 Figures: Hela, Skurge, Valkyrie, Thor, Korg, Miek, Loki, Bruce Banner, Berserker

Hulk Vs Surtur: Final Battle (Similar to 76280)

  • Build: Surtur Upper Body (Scales better with Hulk, good for display), can combine with the Ragnarok: Final Battle set
  • 2 Figures; Hulk (Big-Fig), Thor, Valykrie

Could do a smaller set for Fire Demons/Berserkers or a set focused on Fenrir, but generally the above three sets I could see covering the theme.

I think Thor: Ragnarok will be the next to recieve a 'NWH Final Battle' style set/sets. It has a key central location (Asgard/Rainbow Bridge) and similar to the NWH set has a big brick-built figure that could be added onto the build via a seperate set.

There's also not really any other MCU film that would warrant similar treatment for the final battle - the requirements being an iconic location in-universe or IRL while featuring a large impossing threat and a large amount of key characters.

I think Fantastic Four could wind up qualifying, but we won't know until 2025 and likely would'nt get that set near the release of the film.

I think if it happens it'd be 'with $100 spend on Marvel' as opposed to directly tied to the X-Men Mansion. I imagine it'd just be a Deadpool in a polybag with a sword or two, probably comic or animated show styled to differentiate more from the r-rated movie and fit in with the likely comic styled figures of the X-Men Mansion and the X-Jet.

They could naturally rerelease this version of Deadpool later to keep aftermarket prices down and if Deadpool shows up in Avengers 5/6/7 they'd likely be forced to include a more movie-inspired version of him in a set.

Rocket's ship had 1 figure, and that cost £10 more, with one new print (reused this year), plus the baby Rocket

Also everyone seems to be talking about Fire Demons, is this confirmed for the set somewhere? Cos if not, I really don't see it happening

I would challenge to give two options for similar type sets:

Not a 'final battle' but there's one other film that could make good use of this style of set; Civil War. It could easily be done as two sets, with the second incorporating Giant Man the same way we got Sandman

  • Figures (main set): Captain America, Iron Man MK46, Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Ant Man (all new), Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon (all repeats)
  • Build: Fold outs like the A-Force set, contains airport tower, a car (for Wanda to drop on Tony) and some airport buggies
  • Figures (expansion set): War Machine MK3, Hawkeye (both new), Black Widow, Spider Man (both repeats)
  • Build: Giant Man with plane wreckage

Just as a side note, we haven't had an Ant Man minifigure since 2018/19 (18 for the costume, 19 for the improved helmet). Ant Man Legacy sets when?

The other film, which actually counts as a final battle, is Infinity War. However there are two scenes in the movie that would fit the bill: the Battle of Titan, and the Battle of Wakanda. But a twist to make this cooler, is to do both sets, with an expansion that combines them together

Set 1: Titan

  • Figures: Thanos, Iron Spider, Doctor Strange, Nebula (all new), Iron Man, Star Lord, Drax, Mantis (all repeat)
  • Build: wreckage of Nebula's ship, magic steps for Star Lord, portals for Spidey to jump through. Base is dark red to represent Titan. Infinity Gauntlet included with Space, Power, Reality and Soul Stones, with a secret hidden Time Stone

Set 2: Wakanda

  • Figures: Cap, Black Widow, Rocket, Bucky, Proxima Midnight (all new), Black Panther, Groot, 2x Outriders (all repeat)
  • Build: 2 trees, an Outrider drop ship crashed into the ground, Bifrost landing sticker, roots for Groot. Base is brown/green to represent Wakanda

Set 3: Expansion

  • Figures: Thor, Corvus Glaive (both new), Vision, Scarlet Witch (both repeats)
  • Build: tree, Hulkbuster arm, power blast pieces to represent Wanda destroying the mind stone. Base is primarily brown/green, but includes Space Stone portal with some red behind to connect to the Titan set. Mind Stone included

There is a first description, I don't know if it is legitimate:

"The X-Men Mansion -or the Xaivers Institute is the school Charles Xavier is created for mutants -and the secret base for the X-Men. Based on the loved X-Men series we bring you the biggest X-Men set in LEGO form filled with all your favorite mutants: Wolverine, Cyclops, Mystique, Beast, Storm, Dr. X, Magneto, and many more plus a lot of tiny details and references to the Marvel universe."

No figures or piece counts have been confirmed. General belief is that for the pricing we'd get a brick-built Surtur, Thor and potentially one other figure. If it's trying to be accurate to the opening scene then it'd be a Fire Demon as that was the only other beings there.

The Giant Man aspect would work, but it's just the location itself. The battle primarily takes place on the wide empty concrete of the airport interrupted occasionally by a plane, helicopter, car, truck, etc... I think it'd fail to be adapted into one of the Final Battle style display sets due to this as the battle location is not specific enough. The closest thing you could tie to a big moment would be the plane scene but how would that be adapted as a set. It'd work more as a playset or multiple playsets. Similar to if Kang Dynasty was succesful then they probably would have done a final battle playset as opposed to a 'final battle display'

In similar regard to the suggestions for Infinity War/Battle of Titan/Battle of Wakanda... what would be the specific build that's the focal point? I can only see those getting adapted as playsets or potentially similar to how the Endgame Final Battle set was adapted where the appeal is the figures because the location is just a destroyed area and I think that would'nt appeal in regards to the display aspect. Your description works but I'd picture that more as three playsets that combine as opposed to circular display models.

iron-man-2-final-battle-1024x554.png

It's like I could sorta justify the idea of an Iron Man 2 final battle using the garden area, it's not particularly iconic but it'd work visually as a display area and you can have Iron Man, War Machine, Army Drone, Navy Drone, Marine Drone, Air Force Drone and Whiplash MK2. I guess I'm just hoping Lego are focusing more on the display as opposed to just having a destroyed or empty area - at which point you are just paying for the figures.

This is just from the survey leak last year. Almost all info about the set that is around pretty much is. Don't think we know much beyond those initial descriptions/part counts, etc.
