So relatively speaking how does the Great Hall fare up with the other versions released in the last 5 years, it’s funny how the roofs went from grey to green back to grey, but what are their plans?

I think it really is, as described, the most detailed version of the Great Hall yet and overall the largest in terms of combined height and width. The only details I can spot that are missing from previous versions are the owl lectern (seen in the 2021 set) and a fireplace (seen in most versions except 2010). However, the advent calendar comes with a buildable fireplace so based on the packaging the idea is that we can add that and other details to the set.

As far as the rest of the plans, we can see from the preview image that the rest of the modular castle will feature, at the very least, the Great Tower, the Quad Lookout Tower, the Viaduct and the Viaduct Entrance. It remains to be seen if we will get new versions of the iconic Clock Tower and Astronomy Tower. There's also always hope that we will see the East Gallery, Bell Towers and Transfiguration courtyard but those remains as long-shots.

My only complaint is they skimped out a little on the dungeon rooms. I wish they made it $210 instead of $200 and add those ~100 parts to flesh those rooms out better.

But other than that, I think it is a great model. It seems they are following the design of 71043 just at playscale, but that also means this will be far the most expensive modular Hogwarts and likely to run around $1000 when all sets are complete.

I was going to say the same thing. I was undecided about whether I was going to get it as i'm a bit over building great halls as this is the 3rd i've bought. But really hoping like you that this is a minifigure scale version of the microscale set. Either way, this is the last time i'm starting again. I really, really enjoyed the main build, but the dungeon rooms is where it felt cheap to me. I don't mind that the rooms pull out and open up, but hate how cheap they've gone on the walls. Whish the walls more than anything were fully fleshed out and made it really feel like a full room.

On the whole though, it was really nice to be building more than just "boxes" which is all the last few years Hogwarts have felt like.

7 HP sets coming in January, apparently. Equal to 2023. Can’t really speculate much until we at least have prices though. When do we normally find out info about the winter waves?

Would have expected they would stay with March like they did the last years, but doesn´t matter that much IMO. Anyways, last year we had less than 7 Sets in the winter wave, but this year it were seven (+ a Polybag). If next years wave is as good as this years, would be great.

Well likely it is somewhat similar to this years. Some smaller castle parts, like the greenhouses for instance, a buildable figure like fawkes. I do wonder though, what we will get in the slots of last years forbidden forest sets. They could do something new, expand the forbidden forest more (seems unlikely to me) do some other exterior builds like the womping willow or sets for builds outside hogwarts, like another Diagon Alley Set, Hogsmeade etc.

I think this version is combining a lot of the best bits from all the versions before and at the same time not doing it to a very detailed level. I think the overall design of the new great hall is great and the bones of it really work but I think the lack of detail overall left me unexcited about it.

I hated the last version of the castle and have never kept any of them built. I totally skipped buying the new great hall though and built it from my own parts as there isn't anything exclusive about its parts, and then I fixed all the bits I hated, The rock work is a bit average, the underground rooms are half builds compared to the potion class you can buy, the underground area without rooms in in feels unfinished, the stairs to the boat house is just wrong, the courtyard is cramped and busy. The troll is the only part that is a must have and probably will remain exclusive to this set. I'll probably just brick link him. I'm much happier with my version of it.

Id say it's save to say one will be a larger cstle part. I am going with the big tower Lego cut from the news great hall.

There will most likely at least (I assume more) one new classroom.

I could see the denfence against the dark arts class being a larger set, too ... with a brickbuild dragon skeleton in the roof and maybe the lesson with dementors taking place, which was never dine before.

Oh- I forgot this year is 2024, not 23. Maybe I’m just getting old or maybe it the HP line’s fault for not having clearly defined chronological years anymore like it had in 2018-20. That must be it.

I don’t know anything but just based on my past experiences with Lego HP, there’s a good chance the wave will be delayed until March in some countries. That’s usually how it goes.

You mean for other themes? Because we only ever had one January wave for HP, namely in 2021. All the 1HY waves since have been scheduled for March worldwide

I assume the upcoming wave will be rather similar to this year’s 1HY one, meaning 1-2 buildable objects at different scales, 2 small-ish castle expansions, and other smaller sets :classic:

Content-wise, I feel PoA and GoF may get the spotlight again after this year’s focus on PS and CoS, though I’d like to see more sets from the later movies. Still not giving up hope for a Battle of the Seven Potters set eventually :smug:

As a completist, I'd love to get a Second Task Fleur with her own bubble-head to complete the champions lineup, but alas I don't think kid-friendly Lego is in any rush to create a sexy blonde in a skimpy swimsuit minifig.

If rumours are true, Lego SW is about to get a new version of Slave Leia in a skimpy gold bikini, just saying. If that's an okay thing for 2024 to depict I don't see what would be problematic about Fleur.

Though considering neither Harry nor Krum got swim trunks in the latest version of the Second Task, maybe we'd get Fleur swimming in a dress instead.

Few weeks ago I have visited Lego store in Poland, and had a little chat with a lady that works there, about Harry Potter Theme. Interesting thing is that she said there will be more Lego Harry Potter sets coming this year, apart of advent calendar and the Burrow set. I said to her that I don't think so, since I would probably already know about this, but she said she knows woman who also works for LEGO and got those information. Still don't believe this.

Technically true, since there‘s also a GWP set

Buildable objects/creatures

Buildable objects/creatures

Buildable Hedwig for the billionth time (kidding - I hope)

Swappable modules for the new Hogwarts at (minimum) EUR 40 apiece

Chamber of Secrets as a big flagship set for (minimum) EUR 200

Possibly a Knight Bus since we haven't had one for a while

Usually, winter wave sets are much cheaper than summer sets, would not expect anything big. Some classrooms, maybe another stand alone building, whomping willow, another part of forbidden forest.

No, for HP. We’ve seen the summer wave get moved around all the time depending on the country. US had the sets first in 2018, then delayed a month in 2019, then delayed two months in 2020, etc.

Just saying I wouldn’t be too surprised if the January wave didn’t actually end up being January everywhere

A couple of wild guesses:

  • DADA classroom (PoA) with Lupin and the boggart
  • Buildable chocolate frog (similar to the one in the Hogwarts Icons set)
  • Small castle section based on PoA
  • Buildable basilisk (or a small CoS set with a repeat of the 2021 version)
  • Knight Bus
  • Quidditch pitch
  • Battle at the Department of Mysteries

I‘ll likely be completely off the mark, but it‘s fun speculating :laugh_hard:

  • Brickheadz Pack - Weasley Related (My guess Ginny, Molly, Fred and George)
  • Viaduct set (part of modular system, similar to Boathouse)
  • Greenhouse set (part of modular system, similar to Owlrey)
  • A new privet drive playset
  • 18+ Set - Thestral (Seems unlikely, but they have recently done creates from 1-4, so this would fit Order of Phoenix)
  • Forbidden Forest expansion remake of Sirius and Harry on the lake
  • A Fawkes set similar to Hedwig this year

Those are my guesses/hopes

BrickHeadz is its own theme with separate set numbers, so a set like that would not part of the 7-set wave

Yeah, but Sommer Sets were delayed from many themes in the US and Harry Potter was avaiable everywhere in march, not only in the US. So I do wonder, if they really change the sheldue again, or if the info about January is just wrong.

Then replace it with a polybag.

While Brickheadz are a separate theme, they are usually promoted with their subtheme
