I expect it being about three times as large as the new great hall set in the end.

Yeah... I'm focusing on it and it right now and helps to limit my HP-spendings a lot. I will need to prepare some space for it but i will be glad to "own" a complete collection regardless. With such stuff from Lego - it's better to buy now and think about space later, otherwise you will pay double or more for it in the future (i managed to get The Great Hall for 140 and i assume that every part of that castle will be sold for much less than retail during Amazon sales. So at the end of it you will get a very economical collection, which in the future (at post-retirement prices) would have cost much more).

Is the Bellatrix in the leaked imaged for Malfoy Manor using the same torso as Gringotts Hermione Bellatrix can anyone tell?

It looks a bit different to me, but with the relatively low resolution of the image, it isn't completely possible to tell for sure.

Thanks. It looks different to me too, but it surprises me that they would use another torso when they have the other one in current production. Same with Malfoy and not reusing the torso in the ROR or Hogwarts Express sets which look to be more accurate than the one they have gone with here.

Crazy how Bellatrix from 2011 has a better face than these recent ones, the one from the CMF was good but we need a laughing one

Anyone else feel like Lego doesn't put much effort in figures these days compared to years ago ?

This question is befitting of your name, but it's hardly true. LEGO is pumping out super detailed, inarguably high effort figures year after year in this theme. Look at the latest Snape, McGonagall and Dumbledore with arm printing for instance, not to mention all the other Minifigures with high levels of care and movie accurate detail put into them.

Apart from a couple of face prints (Bellatrix, Ginny), the 2010-11 figures pale in comparison to everything we get these days.

Maybe they've realized that plenty of people will buy any set for the figs as long as they are new variants?

I should have phrased it better, I meant reusing face prints (Jyn Erso,Bruce Wayne,Han Solo,Mantis)

You are probably correct and with this set especially they probably know they can get away with cheaping out on a minifigure because Narcissa, puffy face Harry, Luna, Dobby etc will sell the set for most anyway, but that does it mean it's right or not a cheap out. I suppose what I should have said is not that it surprises me, but annoys me, because looking more closely, if Draco is reusing Old Man Marley's torso as has been suggested then all I can think is that the Hogwarts Express is retiring this year and Home Alone is not and it's easier to discontinue the HE torso and use Marley's. So that being said, as I won't be getting the whole set, I will just Bricklink the minifigures when they are on at a reasonable price and I won't be buying Draco just because he's a new variant because he's not really 'new' to me just a mix of older and less accurate parts.

Is it less than 2 month for 2025 winter sets release and still no official release or any leaks apart of Malfoy Mansion and microscale Diagon Alley?

Nope, otherwise we‘d be talking about them

Usually a written description comes first from someone who's seen images, before the images themselves leak.

Dumb question but is the castle ornery fit the old or new. Hogwarts castle layout?

Not dumb at all. There have been so many castle releases it can be hard to keep up. :classic: The castle owlery is meant to go along with the latest 2024 castle system with the new Great Hall, Boathouse, Potions Class and the Charms Class, Flying Lesson and Dueling Club sets supposedly coming in January. That being said, the owlery is a standalone building so you can put it with any castle layout you like really so long as the scale is okay for you compared to other parts of the castle. The 2018-2020 system would probably work better than the 2021 - 2023 system as it has grey roofs rather than green, but it's Lego so you can mix what you like at the end of the day. :classic:

Just opened my latest bricklink order. I love the new young face prints for Padma/Pavati (two happy faces let me use one expression for each of them :) ) and Cho. The new wand elements rock and I just adore thise printed 1x1 chocolate frog card tiles... it's those details that bring me lots of joy.

Do you think we can expect more young faces? I really dislike the clone faces for Ginny, Susan bones, Daphne and so on xD

That's Lego for ya, won't reveal things until 2 weeks before release, Hasbro is better at revealing stuff

I got pissed off last year because I think it was like near the end of December for Lego to reveal the Marvel sets

Probably won't see Marvel and Star Wars until the 3rd week of December

Thank you, To be honest I bought the spring sets back in March and never built them at all including the ones released in august and since i'm catching up with my back log of lego builds, I didn't know if I got the ornery and to my surprise I actually bought it. i haven't opened them to see because I just got out of surgery, I was just curious if they were modular to the new ones or the previous wave. The only issue I see is the white bricks as snow and now I would need bricks to match it the ornery during summer haha. Thanks

You can always think of them as a lot of owl droppings if that helps. ;-)

Or, alternatively: Within the same set (2024 Great Hall) it's Halloween in the dungeons and Christmas in the Hall. And it gets worse if you sub in the Potions Class as recommended because then Snape is holding lessons during either of these feasts. If LEGO doesn't care about timelines, why should you? ;-)

What Version of Mad eye do you prefer? I am not sure, if the classroom book one or the cmf one is more accurate...

I think the CMF tops out for me:

Less saturated colour for the coat/body

neutral face expression vs the angry scowl from the book set

unique duel-moulded flask/maraca is nicer than the simple black part

Technically, the only real Mad Eye figure we've gotten was in 2005... the rest are Polyjuice imposters.

Unless you count this as figure.

That one was technically also Barty Crouch Jr. since the only time we see the real Moody in GoF is the reveal of him being trapped in the chest :laugh_hard:

So unless they release Moody in an OotP or DH1 set, we‘ll never have a minifig of the real one! The nanofig is awesome but doesn‘t count!

Next year’s CMF series 27 had leaked, and includes a long-haired cat. It’s not quite as stocky as Crookshanks, but it’s a closer fit than the usual cat piece Lego uses, so I’m hoping we’ll see it used in a future HP set.

I think you’re only thinking of Crookshanks as stocky because of his floof and his facial proportions - get him sopping wet and he’d have the same body proportions as a regular cat. The new longhaired cat has flat sides in order to fit better in to the Lego system, but otherwise does a very good job of getting the fur placement right. Change the color and adjust the face print so he’s frowning and the eyes are slightly smaller and further apart and you’ve got the perfect Crookshanks.

And the wolf would work much better in black for the Grim than the current smooth skinny thing. Do we dare to hope they used the CMF budget to make better Crookshanks and Grim molds.

What do you think? a second hairpiece for Prof. Sprout without ear protection is highly unlikely, isn't it?

Do we know, if the wands from the olivanders set are specific wands from certain characters?
