What do you think? a second hairpiece for Prof. Sprout without ear protection is highly unlikely, isn't it?

I'd think so,too. She isn't exactly important to the movies. Her only iconic scene is the Mandrakes one, in which case the ear protection makes sense.

But if you want to MOC her, any curly gray hairpiece should do!

For those who want to add more nefarious characters to their Wizarding Worlds,  I've recently acquired an older fig that might work: nex067 Ruina from Nexo Knights.

The head is probably a bit much for HP,  but look at that witchy dress and Bellatrix' hair in Bright Light Blue! Right now I'm thinking shopkeeper or customer in Knockturn Alley, what about you?

The dress is a bit too much in my opinion. The new build a minifig witch Outfit Workshops perfectly with other hands and head. I'll combine it with the Wicked hatpiece.

Fair enough. I like it though, it's just the right shade of ostentatious to me. 😉

In other news I've recently seen the new Great Hall fully built. I have to say that in the flesh it does look much deeper and less cramped than the 2021 system. However that's kind of the problem for me because it doesn't really do anything with all that space. We get a large enclosed courtyard that's empty, also the troll bathroom looks really bad if you take the troll out (since the front half is clearly just meant to provide a place for it to stand). I guess it works better as a playset for moving around figs and such, but it's way too expensive for that, and for a display I actually prefer the old system. (Though you'd probably have to increase the Great Hall 's height to twice a module's height the way they did later with the Room of Requirement.) The new Hall looks pretty bare too and the sky ceiling isn't that attractive (even if I like the general idea). Also why is it daytime during a feast? That would have been the perfect opportunity to put on some reverse 1x1 round bricks in pearl gold (for stars) and a glow in the dark "boat stud" for a full moon.

Honestly, it’s like whoever finalized the details for the Great Hall was completely ignorant of which scenes they were supposed to be portraying. Not only are most of the pivotal scenes in the Great Hall set in the evening/nighttime – meaning different ceiling decorations – but the troll in the bathroom also specifically sets it at Halloween. But instead of giving us floating jack-o’-lanterns and cauldrons full of lollipops we instead get regular candles and everyone’s forced to eat salad for dinner. Rather disappointing honestly. At least those sort of minor cosmetic details are easy to change yourself – I’m currently waiting for a Bricks and Pieces order with parts to do over the Hall in Halloween decorations.

Do we know, if the wands from the olivanders set are specific wands from certain characters?

I think they could recolour the existing one in black for her outfit she wears around the castle and in the Great Hall, the hat is a similar shape and we just have to ignore the earmuffs

Well, Hagrid’s Motorcycle appeared in the usual place. It's truly one of the sets ever. We were this close to getting a minifigure version, but instead we get this, unique looking something. I suppose it was time for a new meme set.

Posted

Oh... My goodness.

I think in isolation, the bike looks decent. Even Hagrid doesn't look completely awful - with a little modification, he could be used as a generic giant for most fantasy settings. But Hedwig looks like a drone, and Harry looks like a bad, blind animatronic with holes in his neck. I think this might be the new Rabbid Racoon set.

I'm sorry, but Harry's face is why not everything needs to be done as a Lego set. Props to the designer for capturing Hagrid and the motorcycle fairly well, but Harry looks like some weird Lego and Playmobil mashup. *oh2*

My first thoughts: hahahahaha they can't be serious. Those faces! Whoever thought this was a good idea? A better idea than the Battle of Seven Potters with actual minifigs?

On the bright side, Hedwig at Privet Drive is no longer the worst version of Hedwig ever.

And I'm baffled they even included her given what happens to her in that very scene.

I'm actually surprised by how much I don't dislike it. I think it was a good choice not to recreate their faces, and make them super minimalistic.

It's stylish, but in a good way—I don't get the complaints. Would people have preferred an ugly face printing for Harry?

Couldn't care less about the set itself, but if LEGO keeps making them, it means there is a pretty big target group for them.

I would have preferred no printing, honestly. Though the best solution would be a baby harry from the first movie, so you can also avoid the weird macaroni limbs and neck holes.

Lego, you just introduced a new dual molded forearm part specifically for buildable figures, why on Earth would you not use that for Harry instead of doing… that?

It's not stylish, just horribly inconsistent to me. Hagrid has proper hands, Harry has 1x1 round plates/tiles instead. Hagrid has a brick-built face with no printing, not even for the eyes; Harry has a single piece with an awful eye print on it. They're both ugly in my opinion, but they also don't even look like they belong in the same set. And to make it worse Hedwig not only looks just as bad but has a much more elaborate print than Harry (he doesn't have a nose or mouth but she has a beak) for yet more inconsistency.

To me it appears like the designer was completely overwhelmed by the task of designing three vastly differently sized brick-built figs, and the result looks like a hot mess. Hagrid alone wouldn't have been nearly as bad.

Hagrid's bike is the biggest troll... This is the first time ever i hate a Harry Potter set. I never ever ever disliked a hp-set. I even own 2 fluffy builds (got them separated) despite it having flaws.

But this one... Oh my god. Why..

I legit imagined lego making a new Hagrid figure print with him having driving googles and other stuff (+ squished birthday cake round plate print/sticker as a little bonus maybe). And how fun it could be to display this Hagrid flying over current "most detailed Hogwarts" castle wave.
I guess not

People preferred an actual set with minifigures and minifigure scale Hagrid's bike.

Adding such minifigure-scale set during current wave when they did Aragog, Ford Anglia, Owlery and other memorable stuff was the most logical expectation.

Completely besides the point.

I am not talking about whether the set should exist or not, but its design.

Surprised Lego made an effort and gave Bellatrix and Malfoy a new face print, also, I want whatever the designers at Lego are smoking, who tf are the people making these shitty buildable characters

Bellatrix's is definitely new, but Lucius' still looks like the good ol' Bruce Wayne face to me. And Narcissa of course gets Jyn Erso's :laugh_hard: Granted, I believe she's the first HP character to use it, but it still looks too young  Luna's could be new as well.

I need some pics of the interior! And pictures of the remaining sets of course ^^

Luna is using a new hairpiece unless I’m wrong right? I tend to notice all the ponytail ones and I don’t remember any with asymmetrical bangs like that.

I think it's the one from the recent reboot of Friends, previously only in dark orange until now.

I think you’re right. That mold is a braid and shorter than Luna’s hair in DH2 but it works better than their choice for Narcissa’s hair I guess.
