Black Falcon Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 Well the first two are not really a surprise, even I could have revealed they would be included lol. I wouldn´t have thought Barty Crouch Sr. would be included though. But well just glad they did. Anyways I´m curious about the number of minifigures included, I would guess each school should at least have three minifigs, but would hope for more, since 3 minifigs would just be enough to picture the main figures of each school.

The Boathouse and the Sorting Hat already give us most of the figures for a regular PS Great Hall, so everyone's guesses for a Halloween themed one are starting to sound more plausible indeed. Really hope we'll get some new ghost to add to that spooky feeling if that's the case. 3 hours ago, PotDoc said: What makes me more curious is that they say that it can be modified modified for other films I DMed them for a bit more clarification about that part and they said "it can be modified to change different scenes from the films." Something like what Joker Manor did by changing out the portraits. 1 hour ago, BrickMatit said: But giving credence to the statement the only thing I could imagine is LEGO making tables easiliy movable and removable and maybe giving further pieces to create other scenes. I think this is indeed pretty much what we can expect from it.

Darn it, I knew I was forgetting something. And that’s one I really want to. In my defense, I’ve long believed that the lack of flying motorbike has more to do with the prohibitive cost of making unique parts for a Hagrid compatible seat and handlebars (plus the fact that lego doesn’t seem to have done a sidecar before) than Lego not wanting to sell us one. It’s also interesting to learn that the official name of the set is apparently “Triwizard Tournament: The Arrival”, which is much less of a mouthful. Igor Karkaroff and Madam Maxime aren’t exactly surprising, but it’s good to hear that the speculation about Barty Crouch Sr. wasn’t in vain. But at that price point I’m still expecting at least two students each for the visiting schools. The new Great Hall set being based off the first movie really doesn’t surprise me. Fingers crossed that my theory about Halloween decorations and a troll bathroom on the side are solid.
Seaber Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 (edited) So far the new information tells us we're getting five brand new characters next: Malkin Flower witch Wheelchair Student Crouch Sr Karkaroff With the Aragog set almost certainly not having new characters and the Potions Class most likely based on the early films, but possibly anything up to HBP, here are what I think are the possible new characters based on the needed minifigure lists: Great Hall - Prof Vector, Bloody Baron, Fat Friar, Alicia Spinnet, Troll in the Dungeon. Millicent Bulstrode, Ernie MacMillain and Penelope Clearwater appear in CoS so are unlikely but possible I think. Potions Class (if from HBP) - Katie Bell, Leanne That also reduces the needed GoF characters to just Roger Davis, Eloise Midgen, Amos Diggory and Frank Bryce! (not including Nigel ) Edited January 22, 2024 by Seaber

I do think it’s wild to think the green roofs look better than the grey. It makes no sense. Grey is accurate, it’s not even debatable. Green is not. And it really is just ugly to me. If some people like green better because of the nostalgia, whatever. Personally, I’m really happy to see the green roofs go away I prefer gray looking exclusively at the castle itself but the big benefit of sand green is that they can then make the rocks underneath the castle dark gray and have the rocks, building, and roofs clearly stand out from each other. The 2018 solutions to that problem weren’t ideal. The dark tan rocks in the micro castle blend in too much with the castle itself and remove a valuable potential accent color for the castle (IMO dark tan is a better accent color than nougat). Avoiding a rock layer for the minifig scale sets in 2018 isn’t a perfect solution either. So far we’ve seen mixed results from the 2024 IMO. The colors all work perfectly in the Boathouse with the olive and light gray breaking up the dark grey rocks but the Owlery is lacking a bit and there’s not really enough to make the roof and rocks looks different in terms of color. The snow is probably a big part of that since both sections are dark gray with some white, but it could also be down to the rocks being steeper requiring exclusively large dark gray pieces instead of the mix of dark and light gray we see in the boathouse. It’ll be interesting to see how the other steep rocks around most of the castle will turn out. Hopefully being snow free and including colors not present in the roof like olive for patches of grass will make it more distinct.

It's not a wishlist! We are at the stage where we are below 50 characters remaining until they have all been ticked off the list now. A good thing is we are getting named extras like the Flower Witch, Malkin, etc to expand the selection of figures beyond the credited roles in the films, while slowly but surely filling in the blanks both of new characters and new variants. I'm looking forward to the complete line ups and I'm really hoping as the GH is PS based we complete the ghosts line up as the Bloody Baron and Fat Friar both make their appearances here.

Maxime, Fleur and one student for Beauxbatons. The presence of Crouch sr. is really interesting and I'm wondering if he would be put simply on the ground with no context (like Hagrid in Beauxbatons carriage) or if LEGO would put in the set a small side build, like a little piece of lake and terrain (something like the lake+ground+tree of 2019 Expecto Patronum set). Increasing the number of minifigure from 7 to 8, I think Gabrielle Delacour (maybe in her entrance dance outfit) would be a logic choiche. And two other students, one for each school, would bring the number of minifigures to 10. I admit that the presence of Crouch sr. give me not only the idea of the terrain side build, but also of the possible presence of Moody/Barty, from the scene in which Crouch sr. understands who Moody really is. That would bring the number of minifigures to 11 or, with less students, to 9. Or to 8, with Moody/Barty and no Gabrielle. But I don't really believe in Moody/Barty scenery too much.
RODDY Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 For the changing out portion from different films my hope is for tables with the blue cloth and moon prints so we could finally get the Dueling Club. Also gives us another Lockhart variant which I need more of!

His inclusion is still pretty significant though since it brings the list of characters waiting to be remade in the new reboot down to just Narcissa and Peeves.
Alas_Earwax Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 So we can definitely expect Philisopher's Stone-themed minifigures once again? It's official, Lego hate Michael Gambon's Dumbledore

JS038 Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 It’s interesting they’re labelling the series “triwizard tournament:” it gives the impression now that after last years black lake + the arrival set, maybe this is a little sub theme in a similar vain to “Diagon alley:”. Maybe we can anticipate a third task set eventually.

He appears in more movies and therefore was featured in far more scenes (and most of them were quite important) than Richard Harris was. So I hope we get more variations soon.
ArrowBricks Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Little disappointed the Great Hall is from Book 1. They have to include new stuff, and new stuff only. Really don’t want to be seeing figure repeats at such a high price point. Give me the troll, too! Can someone give me an idea of a Great Hall set where it’s all new? Like ghosts etc.

The Bloody Baron and Fat Friar are swooping between the pumpkins, while Dumbledore with new hat mold talks to Madam Hooch with new hat mold and Vector . Quirrell, with new torso print variant, bursts in to announce there is a troll in the dungeon! Below the great hall the Trio with nee dusty robe prints battle a new molded troll. Frank would be funny, but since his only appearance is his death I know we'll never get him. Cedric’s father however is a pretty important missing character imo. My favourite scene in GoF is the return from the third task (it's a horrible moment, but a great scene) and he's a huge part of that scene. Not to mention how important he is to the Cursed Child, he's pretty much the inciting incident. (I hate the story, but I would like to get all the characters from it eventually. So pretty much the missing 19 years later epilogue characters and Amos (not counting Delphini since she is the only one exclusive to the play, and thus one we'll probably never get.)
Bugbot20082 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 I’m very excited for the Durmstrang ship and Beauxbatons carriage, it will look amazing I’m sure. it’s a bit bittersweet though as I have the first carriage set already, and I expect the Hagrid in that will remain exclusive (hopefully not). Hearing Barty Sr is in it is brilliant too! They are listening to us! I’m expecting $100-ship $40-carriage part/budget ratio, with the carriage being a bit smaller and simpler than the original. 2 horses and hopefully no Harry taking a figure space. I assume Igor will be in his white areal coat, one can only dream then we could get his grey coat in an Advent Calendar for example?
spiderfan2000 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 I'm still hoping that we get the Black Lake variants of Fleur and Gabrielle instead of repeats of the versions from the last Carriage set. I'm not sure where else we could get the Black Lake variants otherwise (at least while the Black Lake set is still available), and I'd be pretty annoyed if we only ended up getting three out of the four champions from that scene.
