The Zelda tree in its young link form is nearly identical, the sorting hat was identical, Barah Dur seems nearly the same, Snow Whites house had some major reworking of colours but the build is the same really. The previous version of the Burrow is very good though so I think Its selling point will probably be the inclusion of all the Weasleys as there was a lot of red headed temporary figures in the leaked image. Will that be enough I'm not sure, some side builds like the shed or the wedding tent might make it feel more complete but not sure they will happen. Its competing with the new Zelda set for my cash and I've built a bigger version of the burrow already so Zelda is winning. Yeah, I'm hoping for something closer to minifig scale that has the bulk of the pieces dedicated to the actual home. Minifigs should be pretty good, too. I don't think I ever actually saw the leaked survey image, though, so I'm really anxious to get just the initial details like the dimensions, piece count, etc.

It’s definitely still in the planning stages though, the minifigs are all just plain white with different hairpieces. We already know from other sources that this year’s Harry Potter D2C is number 76437 and it’s 2405 pieces, which seems to fit the leaked image. So while the final set will probably have some adjustments it will likely look very much like the leak.
MaxHeadroom Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 How much is the D2C meant to be again? Not sure if I’m planning to get it or not. Also not sure when/how to buy all the sets I want this year (all the new castles, the ship, and probably Hagrid’s Hut). Do I wait for the GWP for certain sets? Do I wait for sales? No clue but June is nearly here and I think I’ll survive waiting a bit for a sale greater than 10%.

I expect it to look very similar, since a lot of the finalised survey leak sets are virtually identical to their preliminary versions. The main differences are the omitted animals in the Medieval Town Square, the changed roof colour in the Snow White cottage, the transformation of the Maleficent diorama into a playset, and the complete change of the X-Mansion As long as Bill‘s included, I‘ll be a happy camper!
Jaromir Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 The burrow from 2020 was a great set, very detailed for 1000 pieces and we can say it is almost right size for minifigure scale. I think with D2C burrow which will be around 2500 pieces, it will be proper minifigure scale. Hopefully, we will have whole Weasley family, with William, Charles and Percy.

I was about to say that Charlie has never appeared in the films other than on that holiday picture, but then I remembered we‘re getting a highly-detailed Mme Malkin minifig this week, a character which has never shown up on screen in any form And TLG was allowed to make up a design for Sauron‘s face too! So yeah, I‘m sure WB would have no issue with the designers making up a Charlie minifig from scratch!

Depends on what people answered I guess, MTS budget was cut really bad however Zelda apparently was not cut even if it is really expensive

Hogwarts Mystery has a pretty solid design for Charlie already - the hair on his adult model matches up pretty closely with the piece used for young Ron, so no need for a new mold or recolor. And he even wears a dragon head shaped pendant, filling the same roll as Madam Malkin’s tape measure and identifying him for anyone not familiar with that part of the extended Wizarding World.
Bobdapeach Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I’m tired and also don’t feel like going back through this thread, and I’m trying to budget for the upcoming sets based on leaks, and release schedule from previous years, other than the rumoured D2C burrow (and potential GWP coinciding), there likely won’t be a third wave this year, no?
krimimimi Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 @Bobdapeach, yes, the present expectations are for a GWP, the Burrow as the D2C and an Advent Calendar come autumn.

icm Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Remember there used to be rumors of an Icons-style Knight Bus. That's still a plausible idea for a D2C, IMO.

Micmac Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) I wonder how people feel about how close the two waves of Harry Potter are together this year. I feel like we just got the last bunch and we have the next batch already. I've noticed that the forbidden forest, the boat house and the Owlery are on clearance in Kmart here in Oz. That seems crazy. They will only stock the great hall and potions class out of the new castle system. And there is such a massive dump of new sets for june the retailers (excluding official lego store) haven't even got the new Harry potter sets in at all yet. They would usually have them out by a few days before official release date. Legos output of sets is crazy at the moment. BigW near me has two new rows of shelves for the new release sets that came in. So many sets I'd like but you have to be so selective or you would be broke. Edited May 31, 2024 by Micmac

No I mean out of the new castle system if they have the Owlery and Boat house on clearance they will only have the Great hall and potions class for sale. For a new castle system it's a quick turnover. The other sets are not really part of the castle, I'm sure they will get them in, maybe not the ship though. Edited May 31, 2024 by Micmac
MaxHeadroom Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 In the US the 2024 sets are all still full price. Even for older sets it seems like Hogsmeade, Dumbledore’s Office, Dobby, and the Patronus are the only HP sets on sale at Walmart and Hogsmeade and the Astronomy Tower are the only sets on sale at Target.

Yes, the 2024 one with GH House tables and sconce House statues and the carolling ghost. @mirkwoodspiders a second DA scale, with the Leaky and maybe another shop or two a DA part 2 that's the other side of the street an eventual Knockturn Alley (same scale, after the series begins and they have more material for it), further down the line, a DA 1 scale compatible Gringotts, Hogsmeade (it will do double duty as a Christmas / winter display set), the Knight Bus, the Ford, Hagrid's hut (if they can revisit the Burrow in greater detail, they can definitely revisit Hagrid, especially when he's so popular), maybe they'd also revisit the Durmstrang ship, those are perennial faves. at which point they can take it from the top again Edited May 31, 2024 by krimimimi

A DA remake is more likely I think 49 minutes ago, krimimimi said: maybe they'd also revisit the Durmstrang ship, those are perennial faves. Not very likely. The ship has so little screentime and is of such limited significance story-wise, it‘s almost a miracle we‘re getting the playset version, let alone a more expensive one The Knight Bus, Flying Ford, and Hogsmeade are very plausible ideas though!
Felkin Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Here's a different idea for a HP D2C... the Quidditch pitch. Iconic shape, lots of colourful banners and flags, and with transparent bars to hold two rival Quidditch teams in dramatic poses mid-air. Either a complete stadium or just one U-shaped half for a better display piece, it would be a nice change from the game-based Quidditch playsets we've had in the past.

Knockturn Alley Leaky Coultron with Knights Bus Durmstrang Ship (that was actually my guess for the return of it but now we got a playscale one instead - probably won´t get the D2C one for a while now) Ministry of Magic - likely they won´t make it now since the playscale one didn´t seem to sell well. But for me they should have made a D2C version right away instead of the playscale one An other Icons Set where you build Fawkes instead of Hedwig other Diagon Alley shops and there are plenty other locations they could make an UCS version of. Hogsmeade in the Style of Diagon Alley, Privet Drive, Grimmauld Place etc. and likely they will come up with other unique ideas 6 hours ago, krimimimi said: Yes, the 2024 one with GH House tables and sconce House statues and the carolling ghost. @mirkwoodspiders a second DA scale, with the Leaky and maybe another shop or two a DA part 2 that's the other side of the street an eventual Knockturn Alley (same scale, after the series begins and they have more material for it), further down the line, a DA 1 scale compatible Gringotts, Hogsmeade (it will do double duty as a Christmas / winter display set), the Knight Bus, the Ford, Hagrid's hut (if they can revisit the Burrow in greater detail, they can definitely revisit Hagrid, especially when he's so popular), maybe they'd also revisit the Durmstrang ship, those are perennial faves. at which point they can take it from the top again I would agree with Brickbob that Gringotts is in scale with the Diagon alley Sets - they even displayed them together. The Knights Bus has been rumoured before but I just can´t imagine that they would do it in that size. I mean it wouldn´t really fit next to any building without looking strange. I would kinda say the same about the Ford, though if they make a big version it could actually benefits from people buying it just for the car without caring for HP at all.
BrickBob Studpants Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 New info from @Brick Clicker: The Burrow costs $260 The GWP, 40695, is Borgin & Burkes: Floo Network Sounds neat! I suppose the new Burrow will also include an updated Floo network play feature to link these two together!
Black Falcon Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I guess we will get a Diagon Alley Harry in the GWP then. Aside from that it hugely depends how well it is done.

It's The Burrow: Collectors Edition (yes hear that in Hermione's voice ). Casual fans beware haha. Very excited for that GWP. I really want a proper Borgin and Burkes to add on to DA, but something is better than nothing. I hope it includes Harry with his cool sooty faceprint and broken glasses.

Presumably it will include the Harry head with the alternate sooty+broken glasses face that’s so far been exclusive to the Diagon Alley D2C. It will probably mostly feature the Floo fireplace with whatever new play feature they’ve devised for it, but with any luck there will be enough leftover pieces to do a display of Borgin & Burke’s merchandise. It sounds interesting but I am a little bummed that there’s a high chance we won’t see and collectible portraits in the gwp since the main Diagon set for this summer doesn’t include them. On the bright side, this does support the subtle clues in the survey leak that suggest the Burrow won’t be CoS based. The fact that Hermione’s there at all indicated it had to be a later movie because she only visited the Burrow at the beginning of the 4th, 6th, and 7th movies, but a rare CoS Harry variant being in the gwp - which wouldn’t be exciting at all if he ended up being in this year’s D2C as well - makes the argument for a later year even stronger. Personally, my bet is on a GoF based minifig line up. There’s enough redheads in that survey image to suggest we’re getting ALL the Weasleys, and while they never all appear in one place in the movies, we do in the GoF book. Add in that Hermione and one of the redheads having mid legs (only used for 3rd and 4th years) and the fact that Percy becomes estranged from his family starting in OotP, and putting a book spin on the GoF scene is Lego’s strongest option.
