Gorilla94 Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 (edited) It will be interesting to see how the motorcycle looks. I have no clue how they will make Hagrid sit on it. It won't be 100% accurate but it would look cute to have it next to his hut in the large Hogwarts display. I am excited how they will do Flittwick. McGonnagall, Dumbledore, Snape... at this point (and especially with that price point) I expect him to be somethkng special. Either a new hat or hair piece or at least printed arms... Hooch would benefit greatly from the hidden side hairpiece with glasses. Neville, Draco and Harry are a given. I could see them adding Crabe and Goyle. We only got them in the polyjuce set as Harry and Ron in disguise, singen the theme came back. I assume we won't get Hermione and Ron in that set. Lego seems to give us a smaller army of the trio this time. Another question: was the last flying car part of the new system? that determinies, if we will get a new willow again, I guess. Do you think we will get a new Fluffy? The last one was so awefull^^' Edited July 28, 2024 by Gorilla94
VinnieCannoli Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 (edited) I wonder if there will be exclusive modular sets during this modular line as well. Some stuff that can bulk up the Hogwarts even more. Previously they gave 2 exclusive sets (you had to spend a certain amount on HP-stuff to obtain them?) - the one with moving stair looked cool. Edited July 28, 2024 by VinnieCannoli

To be honest I am fine with that as long as it is done like those sets - with (for Lego standards) cheaply available bricks, no exclusive figures and stickers I would have to custom print on the bricks anyways, so I miss out of absolutely nothing by rebricking it. I found it much more annoying to have to search for a rare and expensive book to get Percy in his special robe. Edited July 28, 2024 by Gorilla94
THELEGOBATMAN Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Those January waves are getting out of hand. They're basically a second June wave at this point! Some prices are slightly ridiculous—not because of the PpP ratio or its contents, but like... why does Hagrid's bike need to be 50€? Why is a flying lesson set 80€—couldn't they just have made another Quidditch set at this point? Glad that there are no gimmicks or buildable whatnots.

Strange choice, with Hogwarts that made totally sense, but not sure how good that will work and especially how much people are looking for a DA version. 2 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Since we now have prices, we can make more educated guesses about the minifigs Knight Bus: Probably the same three as the last two versions, namely Harry, Ernie, & Stan. Maybe an updated Grimm, if we're lucky? Hagrid's Motorcycle: Assuming it's the $20 set, it's probably just Hagrid and Harry. Still hoping for a Death Eater though! Charms class: Assuming it's the $50 one, probably Flitwick and 3 students. Dueling Club: Lockhart has to be included, no way around it! The others are likely Harry, Draco, and Snape (so basically the same selection as the 2002 set) Flying Lesson: For $80, it should come with a few more minifigs. I guess Hooch and 4-5 students Diagon Alley: Hopefully not another Ollivander, so maybe Tom, as Jedijacpenguin suggests? Malfoy Manor: This one's gonna be interesting. The trio, Draco, Lucius, Bellatrix, and Narcissa have to be there, but maybe one or two more? Dobby, Wormtail, Griphook, Ollivander, and Luna would all make sense, but there's no way they're all included Most surprising of that list is definitely the flying lesson, which would speak for it to include a bigger part of the castle than expected. Since it is only named flying lesson, I do wonder, if there is anything included aside form a castle part and if they would actually have empty space in there to fit other modules inside. Happy to get the Manor at a decent price without it getting to expensive. At least I don´t need to worry that is looks as bad as the Ministry now.

If anything, the Willow could do with the standalone treatment that the car got - both previous versions aren’t as good as it could be if given sole focus. 19 minutes ago, THELEGOBATMAN said: Those January waves are getting out of hand. Hagrid’s Motorbike is either going to disappoint everyone by being this wave’s buildable ‘creature’ or be based off the battle of the seven Potters and feature a decent amount of scenery. The flying lesson probably features a decent chunk of castle so it can feature the statue that Neville gets caught on as he falls off his broom - probably including McGonagall and her office on the inside. They probably decided on that over a Quidditch set because they want more castle sections that you can put modules in ASAP. I imagine this one will feature above ground module cubby holes, to accommodate modules like the also upcoming Charms Class.
Gryffindor Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Has anyone else considered that the Hagrid’s Motorbike set is likely to be a giant buildable motorbike and sidecar (and either no figures or one exclusive Hagrid figure)? Similar to the buildable hedwig, fawkes, Buckbeak, Hungarian Horntail, etc. I would love to be wrong, but at a $50 price point, I just don’t see how it could be a minifigure scale motorbike. Unless privet drive was added to the set, but that would probably be more than $50 then. But the motorbike itself would probably be like a $20 set, so I really don’t know what else they could add to bump the price $30 unless it’s not minifigure scale. While I’ve been waiting for a Battle of the Seven Potters set, I just don’t think this will realistically be it. Though please let me know if anyone has other thoughts on how it could be minifigure scale, or if you have any reason to believe my guess is wrong! 4 minutes ago, Accio Lego said: The last Ford Anglia came out this year alongside the Boathouse and Owlery, but that will hardly prevent us from getting a new Whomping Willow since the last one came with the Shrieking Shack - Lego knows it doesn’t have to come with the car. Other than that, I agree with @BrickBob Studpants that the bike is probably the EUR 20 set. That price is in my initial guess range (EUR 15 adjusted for Legoinflation.) And at EUR 25, it also seems likely that the dueling club is indeed not a module, but a parts pack that's supposed to go into the Great Hall. Edited July 29, 2024 by brickbride

Dobby technically doesn’t die until they get to Shell Cottage - the most we see at Malfoy Manor is Bellatrix throwing the knife and it disappearing with the heroes when they escape. So I’d still consider it in the realm of possibility. As far as price points go - jedi jac penguin already has set numbers, tentative names, piece counts, and prices up with Hagrid’s Motorbike matched with a $50 price. They tend to be pretty wary of jumping the gun on leaks, so a pretty trustworthy source would have to get something mixed up for them to have posted incorrect info.

I don’t think it’s going to be a larger-scale model for multiple reasons: This would make it one of the cheapest vehicle models ever created. Those are usually at least $100, so it’d be in a weird scale compatible with nothing else. Hagrid’s bike isn’t exactly the most iconic HP vehicle, especially without its rider. Wouldn’t they make large-scale models of the Knight Bus or the flying Ford first before tackling this? A minifig-scale bike hasn’t been made yet. Why release a larger version first? They haven’t done that with any of the buildable objects and creatures yet (minus the bottle of felix felicis as mentioned in a previous post) Watch me be completely wrong

Well he stated that he saw several sources stating different things. The first info we had for instance had 76443 as the Motorcycle, which is the Set with the 50$ price. However since Jedijac stated he saw the motorcycle and charms class swappen on a different source, we can´t really say which one is true - I don´t really see them doing a 20$ Charms class if we keep the price of potions class in mind.

It would definitely make A LOT more sense for the motorbike to be the $20 set, for all the same reasons the Ford Anglia was a good set for that price point this year (with the added bonus of being something Lego has never done before). $50 for Charms Class would be a bump up from the Potions Class set, but perhaps the above ground modules are slightly larger? You’d certainly have to do something a bit larger to fit the mirrored bleacher style desks the Charms classroom has at any rate.
VinnieCannoli Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) I wanted Hagrid's motorbike for so long! It was Sirius Black's motorbike first and in the movies it was based on the 1959 Triumph Bonneville T120. Can't wait to see how they made it look.Technically Hagrid's (mini-big)figure can ride a regular minifigure bike and if it was Sirius Black's first - it should be a minifigure scale. So I assume they will make something around it. Found a fun looking MOC here to see how such stuff might even look like: Edited July 29, 2024 by VinnieCannoli
BrickMatit Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) Interesting news. What I'm more curious about is seeing if we'll have upper sections switchable as well as underground sections - yes in my opinion. Charms class is a good candidate to be the first one of it. Now, the fact we're not sure wheter it's a 20$ or 50$ make me suspicious... 50$ for a simple class in which there's nothing special but simple feathers need to be justifie with something more than Flitwick with his hat... it's 10$ more than Potions class, but with 617 pieces, while Potions class had 397 pieces... does this suggest that the 50$ set has a lot small parts? Could this be the Motorbike, with something like flame and smoke made by small pieces? Hagrid's Bike and Sidecar is something I would really appreciate as a small set - 20$ - the reference to sidecar means this is taken from DH escape from Privet Drive... now, just some thinkings aloud... a scene with only Hagrid, Harry and the motorbike is something with not much sense, but a scene with Voldermot, maybe even with a death eather, wouldn't be name as Seven Potter Battle or somethin similar with a reference to the battle and the action scene? My conclusion is that Hagrid's Bike and Sidecar is what the name suggest, a 50$ model of the motorbike, with no brick-built Hagrid or Harry, but only a Hagrid variant with googles. Not my cup of tea, in the case. It's true that it could be something like Ford Anglia, but how could a motorbike have 204 pieces while the Ford Anglia has 165? So, in my opinion, Charms class could be the 20$ set, with a simple building - base + very little walls section + some fornitures (like Hufflepuff common room or Troll bathroom), Flitwick and some students. Really interested in Flying Lesson... expensive and with a lot of pieces considering the scene. My idea, as others already pointed out, is that we'll have part of the castle in it. Will it be part of the big model? Likely yes, but where and how? Dueling Club would probably be something to put inside the Great Hall instead of tables. Here characters can't be but Lockhart, Snape, Harry and Malfoy... and the snake. Not interested in Knight Bus: I don't see something really different from the last one, that I already have. The same for any microscale set, like this Diagon Alley seems to be. Last but not least, Malfoy Manor. I admit that the location doesn't say too much to me. But it's true that has a lot of potential, both as a building and in term of minifigure. Edited July 29, 2024 by BrickMatit
Gorilla94 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Lego raises the prices each year. I think there will be just the bike with baby Harry and Hagrid maybe on a stand that uses some parts for 20 bucks. There is no way they can do the class in a way that does not absulutely suck for 20. I say it will be about the level of the potions class + inflation for 50. Maybe it will have a little technic mechanism to fold out the students seats, when opening it. Dueling club replacing the stuff in the great hall realky makes sense to me. It explains the really weak Interieur of the original set. The Hufflepuff common room really sucked an was intended to be replaced with Portion class. The toilet with the troll is in fact decent, so I assumed it is intended to be kept.

According to the previous leak, Hagrid's bike set number is 76443—which is 50€. I hope that the leaker is wrong, because there's no way they could make it into a set of this size without including, like, Dursleys' house.
brickbride Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) Honestly, the more we hear the more underwhelmed I am with the "most detailed Hogwarts ever". If I were to spend EUR 200 on a Great Hall, it had better be THE definitive Great Hall, not a crappy "basic" version full of placeholders which you then need to "upgrade" by buying the Potions Class (EUR 40), advent calendar (EUR 35), and Dueling Club (EUR 30). And after that you're left with a bunch of spare builds/placeholders. Is that the future of LEGO HP - "buy overpriced basic sets and then upgrade them"? 'Cause I really hope not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in my opinion the Great Hall was fairly priced. The low piece count is because of some significantly sized pieces. This link shows some data of Lego IP at price per pound and $50 per pound is the median (from 8 years ago). The Great Hall is 4 pounds and therefore right at $50 per pound and is an external IP. The issue is Lego didn't want to go over $200 it seems and had to cut costs in some of the details. But they haven chosen to create standalone sets that can replace those details and add more customization to the castle. Forget if I saw it here or somewhere else, but there was a good comment regarding the size of the castle not being able to include every common room or every class at once, but everyone will have the choice to include what parts they want.

No way, I think, that LEGO will sell a set with an empty space. So any set will be complete on its own, like the Great Hall with Troll bathroom and Hufflepuff common room. Plus there will be sets like Potions class that could be put in the model instead of something else. In the end, we'll probably have all common rooms, a good amount of classrooms and some iconic scenes and need to decide what to put in the model (of course, anyone can at his pleasure modify the model to accomodate everything). At the moment, if you think about it, we have two spaces under the Great Hall and three sets that can go in those spaces. So one of them need to be excluded. Edited July 29, 2024 by BrickMatit
Jaromir Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Maybe the price of Hagrid's bike has been mistaken with the Charm Classroom?
Gorilla94 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) @Virginia_Bricksit is very subjective. Some use pieces/Dollar, some pound/dollar ... personally I do not eat them, so it is quite irrelevant to me how many pounds a set has... I am in fact buying licenced stuff for the model i want in my display, so i could not care less in how many pieces I can part it out... I'd also say a printed panel like from the adventurer theme has much more value than 20 standard bricks Lego uses today. For me it is about positive emotion/dollar The minifig sized tumbler was worth it's money to me, because it 100% represents something that emotionally catches me, is gorgeous and the building techniques make it a work of art. The great hall looks decent from the outside. The clouded Skype inside is just a pathetic design (a few printed 2x2 inverted tiles with stars could have made it a a decent sky and for that money it should really be included) the hall feels empty and the tiny tables are ridiculous. Everyone of us could have come up with a superior Common room in an hour than this soul- and loveless filler. The only reason I got it except for the great troll and the fassade, which are not even worth the 30% reduced price I payed, is because of the other sets (boathouse and portion class) being that great and compatible. They carry the in my opinion worst great hall. I really hope that was no mistake... Edited July 29, 2024 by Gorilla94
brickbride Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) Like @Gorilla94 has said: My issue is more with the poor quality of the placeholder modules and builds. Like, what's the point of including the Hufflepuff common room for the first time ever if it looks like this and is so obviously meant to be replaced by something else? Or I don't think we've ever had a Great Hall without a fireplace, but this one lacks it - but hey, you can add the fireplace from the advent calendar! When that should have been included in the first place. The 2021 system had shades of this (like the slide in the Chamber of Secrets that needed to be combined with the trapdoor from the Polyjuice Potion Mistake), but with this new Iteration it's just becoming obvious to me that even the EUR 200 flagship set can't stand on its own nor is meant to be. It's just a very expensive starter set for the available upgrades. Edited July 29, 2024 by brickbride
